Cherng Doi Roast Chicken

A very popular roast chicken restaurant in Chiang Mai. However, service wise needs some work with consistency. Unfortunately, my experience was mixed with ups and down. Despite good flavour from the grilled chicken, the main star was served to me semi-hot. So I wasn’t into it that much since the chicken is not sizzling hot as if it has been laid to rest for quite awhile. Som Tam was awesome with great combination of salted crab. The crowd management was bad. 3 crowd who was behind me just forced themselves inside and the staff happily just accepted them before me. That was a turn off. I was about to leave because of that treatment but thankfully a lady staff saw the incident and quickly apologised and prioritised me.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Nimman is this unassuming roast chicken place with delicious food at an affordable price. We got slow roasted chicken, mushroom soup, fried papaya salad and corn som tham. The chicken and papaya salad are must try.

The grill chicken is good, can order glutinous rice and go with it. There’s also normal rice. Overall the restaurant get crowded when it is near to the lunch hours. We went earlier so there’s no much tourists yet.

This is a mecca for grilled chicken. If you were to casually pass by, it would look like any ordinary Thai restaurant. I initially went in with no expectations, but when the perfectly cooked chicken arrived, I couldn't contain my surprise. I knew this was a mecca for grilled chicken. Aside from the grilled chicken, the other menu items weren't particularly special. I recommend the cucumber salad. The freshness of the cucumber and the nutty flavor of the peanuts combine perfectly with the steamed rice and chicken.

I was actually looking forward to this grilled chicken as grilled chicken is famous in northern Thai. However, it’s was below expectation, we ordered the recommend dishes those grilled chicken & pork. Not something that surprise us, the grilled chicken is dry and not really flavorful. Somtam is the worst, not making with real lime juice. Kind of disappointed. Staff isn’t welcoming too, no longer land of smile.

This place really is the best! I’ve had delivery before, but nothing beats eating here in person. The chicken is incredible, and all the salads and soups are so good. And the fried papaya? To die for.

their roast chicken is seriously delicious, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You can tell it’s grilled to perfection. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable, and the staff are friendly and quick. I also tried their papaya salad and sticky rice — both were super tasty and went perfectly with the chicken. Prices are reasonable, and the food comes out fast. Great spot for a casual and satisfying local meal. I’d definitely come back 9/10

It was kinda overvibed , the chicken unfortunately did not live up to my expectation and many Koreans were there when I pay a visit on 12/08/25 , I had better roasted chicken like polo fried chicken from bkk . The corn salad was normal too if you are a fanatic of it like me . There's another popular store within nimman which I yet to try and hopefully I would have the time to before I leave chiangmai . Kinda hard to spot the store too but look out for the big mango tree covering the store .
