My sister surprised my son and took him here as he loves chess! This place was so unique and he was able to play games of chess (regular and speed) against other players. I love that places like this still exist. My son said it was one of best experiences of his life!

Three words can summarize this place, kindness kindness and kindness It was such a wonderful experience visiting here. My son, Gabriel, had a lovely time in the cozy and warm atmosphere. He enjoyed it so much that we visited three days in a row during our trip to NY. I hope we have the opportunity to visit again soon.

This place is awesome. About 8-10 playing tables, awesome chess sets for sale. My 9 y/o got a few games in with a few kids and left with a good book to up his game. He felt like Norm at Cheers. DC needs a spot like this!

Beautiful little shop and the owners were able to find everything I needed instantly - a simple board mat, pieces and a clock. They also have tables set up where you can play and even coffee and more. The ambience is really nice and I will definitely be back to play.

Happened to walk by and found this place really interesting! The front is a shop that sells very diverse and special chess sets, some historic, some architectural, and some funny pop-culture ones. It looks like there's a chess club in the back of the store, but I didn't venture in. It was pretty crowded when I stopped by on Saturday, maybe there was some sort of club activity going on. This place has a lot of potential, Great spot for chess lovers!

Visited bc this place is famous for all things chess. The owner and staff are very friendly. My nephew loved playing chess with the ppl coming in and out. It’s really like family. Love the history of this place. My nephew wants to go to NYU so that he can play chess here every day lol. We went two days in a row and we are going for another two days in a row again. My nephew LOVES this place. His mom bought him the Fischer chess pieces. It’s exquisite! Bought the mini chess set and practice set too. His chess collection got bigger and better!

Really special place tucked away in the village. Cozy and artistic atmosphere that tells you you're getting the real deal. You can walk in and people will be willing to play with you or teach you if you're a beginner. Got a bit rowdy, but if you're passionate about chess, this is THE place.
