A fantastic hostel! I stayed for just over two weeks and I always felt safe and comfortable. The owners are absolutely lovely, friendly, and welcoming, and their kid is adorable. Despite the age of the building, everything was in good shape and it was always clean and well-presented. I believe it was freshly refurbished when the new management took over. It's in a great location, right next to a big Waitrose so shopping couldn't be easier, and less than a ten minute walk to the train station or the shops and restaurants of the town center. They have everything you could need, including laundry facilities. Chris even offered to rearrange or add more furniture for me as I was staying for a while and might have needed more drawers. There is a very well-stocked, shared kitchen that nobody ever seemed to be occupying when I wanted to cook. Coffee, tea, and such basics were complimentary. In addition to the eat-in kitchen, there are more communal spaces on the outdoor patio and balcony, and in the front sitting room which is stocked with toys, games, and a TV. I booked several months in advance and was able to get a private en-suite room at a discounted rate, not that the normal rate was by any means high. My room was very nice. The windows are double glazed, the curtains block light, the bed, pillows, and sheets were comfy, the shower was hot and had better water pressure than mine does at home, and everything matched and was painted a lovely dark blue, which did a lot to make it feel homey. I didn't have a single problem or complaint, and I know where I'll be staying next time I'm in Chester.
