Chesterfield Hotel

We made a last-minute reservation for our family and were perfectly accommodated in this hotel throw-back little gem of a hotel. It was clean and comfortable, with waffles and coffee in the late afternoon, and a fantastic breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was perfectly walkable to the town center, restaurants, and transportation, while the prices were also very reasonable. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Quaint, historic hotel with an excellent location, pretty decent breakfast, clean rooms with great views of Trondheim. A few blocks away from the train station (less than 3 mins walk) and about 6-8 minutes from the bus stop, both of which go to the Trondheim airport (25-ish mins by train, and 35-40 mins by the Flybuss express bus) We arrived early and they secured our luggage, allowing us to take an afternoon walk in the city, enjoy the beautiful weather and come back later for a 3pm check in. Rooms have great views, and we were lucky to get a sunny room, with a nice view of the sunset. Breakfast buffet has a decent range of options (including gluten free options). Very good with free waffles. Good place, cheap. Good for just sleeping, the view we got was not that good haha, but did not matter. Was a bit hot tho

the. elevator not working but manage to stay 1st floor. easy access to train station. staff are friendly and helpful.  good breakfast . 

Location: basically dead centre of the city, perfect for walking around. Service(the ones I talked to): helpful, funny and service minded. Rooms: Where to start...... Cold room, windows leaking cold air into the room. No point in having the heater on max when the air is coming in faster than You can heat it. Shower, get rid of the curtain that sticks to Your feet(and its really cold). They have these sheets under your normal sheet, awfull, sweaty night, removed it slept like a baby. So with all of this in mind, I'd be there again, if theyvfixed all of it.

After reading a few reviews before my stay here, I think, in most cases, it’s exactly what I expected. It’s not the newest hotel and sometimes felt a bit underutilized or unmaintained. What I didn’t get from the reviews, however, is how welcoming it is. I decided to try a different hotel after approximately 10 stays at the same one over the last six months, and I have to say, for my next stay, I’ll definitely choose this one again. I’m not sure how to describe it, but I somehow felt more welcome—almost like a homey vibe. The breakfasts are great, much better than I expected. I truly understand that this might not be a hotel for everyone, but I would definitely recommend giving it a try. For me, they perfectly fit the kind of experience I was looking for on my trips, especially when traveling alone.

The room given to me had a scratched floor and the window was so old that it could not get closed properly. There was cold air and noise coming from outside the window that did not let me sleep. The breakfast quality was not good very simple and low quality.

While we didn’t stay the night at Chesterfield Hotel, we will never forget the kindness we received there during a very challenging time. After an exhausting overnight train journey from Oslo to Trondheim, we arrived tired, sad, and confused—our phones had been stolen while we were in Belgium. With no internet connection, we walked into Chesterfield Hotel near the train station, hoping to find a place where we could rest for hours before our night train to Bodø. Though they didn’t have a room available for day use, the owner of the hotel went above and beyond to help us. He kindly allowed us to sit in the lobby, use the Wi-Fi, and store our luggage. To our surprise, he also offered us breakfast—and not just any breakfast, but one the best ones we had in all of Norway! Fresh, delicious, and made with care. When we tried to offer payment, he refused, insisting that we should not worry about it. We were so overwhelmed by his generosity, we nearly cried. After some time, we went out to find a new phone and get ourselves organized. When we returned later to collect our luggage, we had fresh and delicious waffles for us. We will never forget how this hotel and its owner helped us during such a tough moment. We didn’t stay at Chesterfield Hotel this time, but we will definitely choose it for our next visit to Trondheim. If you're looking for a place with heart, kindness, and exceptional service, this is the hotel to stay at!
