Chettinadu Mansion, Kanadukathan

We recently stayed at this property and had a wonderful experience. It’s located in a great area, offering both convenience and a local charm. The staff were exceptionally friendly and generous with their hospitality. Though the house is quite old, it is remarkably well-maintained, reflecting great care. The food was authentic and absolutely delicious — dining under the stars was a truly memorable experience. Overall, it was totally worth the price and highly recommended for a unique and locally rooted stay!

Authentic traditional Chettinad palace. Value for money. Don't skip the palace tour, and use the free bicycles there to explore roads and palaces around. We really enjoyed the stay there. Staffs are super friendly and they are ready to serve you with the dishes of your choice and that is also prices reasonable. They will never disappoint you. Rooms have airconditioner but the heat is that much, it was not cooling that much. However the experience of the historic room we really enjoyed. Understand the Chettinad history before going there. You will really enjoy the stay.

Our recent visit to the Chettinad Mansion truly offered a captivating blend of heritage and hospitality. We found our stay to be more than just decent; it was a comfortable dive into history. The rooms provided a peaceful and well-maintained retreat, allowing for a truly relaxing stay. A definite highlight was the Chettinad Mansion tour. This wasn't just a quick walk-through; it was an insightful journey into the rich history, unique architecture, and fascinating lifestyle of the Chettiar community. What truly set our experience apart was the exceptional staff. Every single team member was incredibly courteous, attentive, and genuinely warm.

Good points: food was having authentic chettinadu taste. All food prepared with no-ready to cook easy hack. So, good for health. There were bicycles available, and it was good. Security and some of the ground level staffs were good. Services that need to be improved: My check-in time was 12 noon, but there was 42 minutes delay to get the room. Also, bullock cart ride is not readily available, pool is 1km away and it’s not part of premises, we have to walk & need to manage the key, there is no staff in pool area, you may face difficulties if you don’t know Tamil. The chapathi was having non-veg taste, seems like they cooked in same burner without cleaning. Room & toilet Cleanness and hygiene need to be improved a lot. Electric switches were horrible. Power failures were frequent, however power backup will be turned ON with a delay of 5 minutes. Considering it’s a village area, overall it was okish for me. But lot of need to be improved considering the cost. There is no one in reception from 6pm to 9AM. However, food will be served & those people won’t do anything related to room check-in or check-out facilities. Note: This owner has 2 resorts, 1 is chettinadu court & other is chettinadu mansion. Both the resort’s data, phone number, image & location in online platforms are confusing. And you may easily get cheated, chettinadu mansion(photo attached) is the original & costlier than chettinadu court.

It was great. The food and welcome drink was good. There is no lift / elevator. The rooms have air conditioning. It's a 120 years old house. It's a good experience.

Stayed here for one night as part of an Intrepid Travel Tour of South India.|Fascinating to see all the old the mansions in the village in various condition.|Chettinadu Mansion is delightfully restored. Rooms more on the basic side but very comfortable with large bathroom. The set dinner and breakfast both excellent and the staff lovely. A great experience.

We had a great stay at Chettinad Mansion in Karaikudi. The place is full of history and beautifully preserved. The traditional Chettinad architecture, with its big courtyards, wooden pillars, and antique furniture, gives a real feel of the past. The staff were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The service was excellent, and everyone was helpful throughout our stay. The food was one of the highlights — delicious home-cooked Chettinad meals with amazing flavors. It felt like a true taste of the region. We also got to explore nearby places like temples and antique shops, which added to the experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful and cultural getaway in Tamil Nadu, Chettinad Mansion is a perfect choice. Highly recommended!
