"Dark, damp and more than a little bit creepy... Cheung Po Tsai Cave is exactly how you’d imagine a pirate’s secret lair. A visit is less about seeing a specific landmark (after all, it’s pretty dark down there) and more about understanding the mystery surrounding the site. The cave was named for notorious pirate Cheung Po Tsai (“Cheung Po the Kid”), considered the Robin Hood of Hong Kong, who is thought to have stashed his loot here. In his prime, the 19th-century pirate supposedly controlled 600 ships and built several temples along the coastline for the villagers." - Kate Springer

There are signs along the way; pointing way to the cave The cave is small; pitch black; with steep stairs takes only within 10 mins to get out of the cave The view is nice; it’s a good and easy hike to get there!

We really enjoyed this family walk. Well paved and toilets en route; coastal views, secret beaches. Take a little picnic and eat on the walk. We did a circular rout to Po Yue Wan / reclining rock - luckily tide was low. A few people turned back, we got through. (Family of 5 60+ / under 7s)

Nice places, beautiful view, clear water, the places were clean, public toilets nearby, long distance walk, and need to climb down to the cave. No recommend to bring child below 5 unless adult accompanied.

Long hike to the starting point of the cave. Cave is very narrow near the end of the tunnel, so if you don't have the Asian slim body type, you will be stuck inside.

Fun experience with my sisters and 78 year old aunt! She is very skinny and adventurous. We were very careful and went slowly down the ladder to enter the cave. We were very lucky that we had the cave to ourselves and spent some time inside taking photos, haha! If you just go straight down into the cave and walk through it, it doesn't take more than a few minutes. But if you're like my family, and like to take many photos, then you'll spend a good 10-15 minutes down inside the cave. The view outside the cave is gorgeous.

It's a good 30 to 40 min walk from ferry to the cave. Getting in and out of the cave is adventurous. It may seem challenging but sure is fun. Inside the cave is pitch dark so it helps to have a flashlight handy.

Found no treasure here contrary to the legend. Perhaps the actual treasure are the friendships forged along the way. Or maybe it is just the view.

Take a ferry to the Island from Pier 5 and fo the Mini Wall of China trek. Return back and lunch at the newly opened Ding Ding restaurant near the pier and then proceed to visit the caves before returning to catch the ferry.
