I used to think very highly of Chevys. Over the years We have eaten at different locations over 15 years. We started visiting the Elk Grove location 2-3 yrs ago. For the most part, our experiences have been from 3-4 on a scale of 1-5. Today, we went to this location for a celebration. This was the worst experience yet. We DEFINITELY won't be back. My husband ordered a mixed grill with shrimp, carnitas, chicken, & steak. The challenging part about that meal was the server Herminio & the 3pm manager. It took him 25 minutes to acknowledge us & bring us water. Another 12 minutes to bring us the beverages ordered. When our food came (40 minutes later), he initially gave the tortillas for my husband's order to the table across from us. Herminio was also running around like a chicken, lost, & messing up with the other diners. He even forgot the Grand Marnier w/ our Margaritas. The chicken taco and flautas I ordered were very sub-par, salty and soggy. The chicken in the flautas and the taco was mush.
Side note: Truly appalling that one of the managers (from STOCKTON) who had been there since 5 AM, & with who we've always had an awesome experience, had to leave. She is very awesome and great leader.
Our experience with relieving manager is- she needs more training or find another career. The pictures depicted above are reflective of Herminio throwing out my husband's leftovers and the manager taking them out of the trash & having someone box them to take home. How demeaning! The server Herminio asked if my husband was taking the rest of his food home. My husband replied. "Yes, please." Herminio took the remains of his meal with him as he left our table to (we thought to prep for carry out). After several minutes, he returned to our table with our check. He did not return w/ food, so my husband asked him where his carry out was. Herminio replied, "I threw it away." My husband said, "You asked me if I wanted to take this home and I told you yes." It was very upsetting, so my husband approached the manager and told her what happened. The manager on duty, a Hispanic, female asked (which was very suspicious), "what did you have left on the plate?" My husband told her (some shrimp, chicken, and pork left, as well as tortillas & salsa and a half of a chicken taco (that I had and gave to him)). The manager then said, don't worry I will take care of you. So, tell me again, what you had." He told her. She said, "I will be right back we're going to replace the meal." When she returned, she gave us a carry out that came out a little bit faster than our original meal. At approximately 9:45 PM, 4 3/4 hours later, my husband opened his remaining food. He found that they gave him food that was thrown away & put in a to go tray, added new black beans, rice, nacho chips, and and a tomalito (corn cake). They even dug out the same salad remnants. When my husband opened the food, he said, "This is the same stuff that I had on my plate that Herminio said he threw away!
The shrimp was a few pieces, the chicken I left only 3-4 pieces, & I had no steak. The only thing that they added was medium rare steak and this is the same overcooked dried out pork! These (people)!!" They also added a new corn cake. He also said that even the lettuce and tomatoes and sour cream is the same.
We paid over $101 with my rewards for this meal for them to dig the remainder of my husband's meal out of the trash (according to the server who said it had been thrown away) & to be charged $2.00 for a little bit of sour cream for the salty soggy flautas is absurd and insulting. I also believe that the leftovers (husband's meal) were going to be reused for someone else's meal when they reordered. Because we thought we were getting a new meal, we still tipped the server because he's served us before & has been great in spite of the food quality.
I advise you not to consume anything there. The manager assured us that my husband would get a completely new meal. She lied & should be fired. If she knew her job, she would offer to comp at least my husband's portion. This place will be shut down. We have had more than enough experiences with the unfair/unfriendly experiences poor customer service. Other than a few employees, the place needs an overhaul. I will report this to the proper authorities.
I rarely throw race in the game but that manager, protects her own (Hispanic) and obviously doesn't care about customers nor food safety, which is obvious. If you love your family, do not go to this location. Drinks are good but not even sure it's worth it! They may even reuse unconsumed drinks & glasses. Only a few employees are awesome, but a majority need to look for another career - not working with the public or diverse people. There is so much more I could share but I'll stop. The ambience esp. leaving was terrible as I made a male manager to speak as we left.
