Chez Beignets was such a great stop! I We ordered the Beignets Pillows, and they were the perfect sweet treat—soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Paired with a cup of coffee, it was absolutely delicious and so satisfying. Everything felt fresh and comforting, and it made for a really enjoyable café experience. I’d definitely come back for another round.

5 stars for the rice rolls (banh cuon). Freshly made in house and tasted exactly like the ones you get in Vietnam. Beignets are just okay in my opinion but my husband liked them. Salted cream coffee was pretty decent. Tables need some cleaning in between guests. Will definitely be back for the rice rolls.

Perfectly Chill Patio Oasis! Quán Ong Tre is a unique Houston gem. The combination of strong coffee and amazing, fresh bánh cuốn is surprisingly brilliant. The relaxing patio atmosphere makes it the perfect escape. A must-try spot in Chinatown

I haven’t tried much here, just the beignets. I wish I had a chance to try them fresh in store! The time I went (around 6pm) wasn’t busy at all and the only other people in the establishment besides the person taking orders and cooking was a couple. The vibe was okay. Id be willing to go back.

We went during slow time, after lunch. Most drinks were good, just one drink is too sweet. Their bánh cuốn is freshly made right there which is good, corn milk also good. The mashed avocado wasn’t up to our expectation. During the day, sitting at the patio is good as long as it’s not too hot.

The beignet wasn’t that great and the service wasn’t the best. But to be honest, their coffee, chao ,and their bánh cuon were good. Overall I give this place 7/10

Ordered the combination banh cuon, pretty decent portions. My mom and I will stop by here for a quick lunch. It wasn't busy on a Friday afternoon, under 10 min to get the food. Would eat here again !

Used to come here a lot but just recently tried it after years! The menu is extensive and offers more than just beignets and drinks. I ordered the classic beignets. They were warm, delicious and had the perfect consistency.

I have been here several times. I like the finger beignets with powder sugar and honey. The banh cuon were made to order by lady - open kitchen concept. It's easy to find parking, it's clean, lots of seating inside and outside.

This place hits the spot when I'm craving beignets! Love drizzling them with honey and powdered sugar and savoring each warm bite. However, the coffee is very lackluster. I ordered a cappuccino and it was hardly foamy and bitter.

Vietnamese iced coffee is good but gives you a dry aftertaste. If you know, you know. Banh cuon dac biet is delicious and comes out pretty quickly. Expensive for how much you get but quality, compare to another location in Chinatown. Some may not like the sweet potato with their fried Vietnamese shrimp but I enjoyed it. They also offer a Vegeterian option in case you have to 'an chay' for the day. You just order at the register, pay, and they will bring it out to you. When done, try to clean up after yourself and someone will take it away! Outside is always dirty with spilled drinks from who knows who. This place is always packed with older Asian uncles so if you want some wise words, come here cause they always have something to say to someone. Haha.

Great tasting banh cuon here! First time coming and it's packed with older asian people lol. The wait took awhile bc it seems they were short staffed. I had their thit nuong and the special banh cuon. Both tasted fresh and amazing! Only thing bad about this place was that my table wasn't wiped down and wait was about 20+ min to get the food. Other than that, I loved the banh cuon itself ! Hoping to come back with quicker service next time

Stop in for a tiramisu and beignets! Well, actually, the guy forgot to dump the beignets, so I just got the tiramisu. I already waited fifteen minutes, and I wasn't going to wait another fifteen minutes, but the tiramisu made up for it. Plus, his response to his mistake was very rude, asking if I wanted a refund. I told him hell yeah, and stop being rude. He then offered an apology. But it's a pretty shop, quiet, beautiful colors, and I could tell by the taste of their tiramisu they are putting a lot of love into their pastries.

I think I've had better beignets at the Shipley's near Westheimer and Dairy Ashford. If you didn't know this, you're welcome. Nothing special about the beignets here. Their café sua da is premade and not made fresh. I blame myself, but we went on a Sunday afternoon and ended up waiting close to 45 minutes for two drinks and order of small pillows.

The wet rice crepes serve when not cut through; so it is not easy to separate when you eat- you are truly need spoon or fork to eat- nor chopsticks. Also, the filling inside was not stay with the crepes. The beignets is not so tasty. You need to come to the cashier to order your food cause no one told you- more like a deli with a place to seat. Not really busy on weekday. At the time I am there, most people come here to order beignets pillow or fingers.

Food is amazing here and the service was great. Ordered the Banh Cuon but with Shrimp only and it was topped with fried shrimp. They serve it with chili cause, a jug of fish sauce :) and a cup of iced tea on the side. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice atmosphere. Will def eat here again and will try the Beignets next time!

This place is cute and a hidden gem. It's obvious it has regular customers and I am glad we stopped to try it. They sell other items beyond beignets but we went for the main thing. You can pick from three sizes levels and three different types. We tried the beignets and pillows. The dough flavor is heartier than your normal beignet dough and ours were cooked slightly longer than I would prefer but overall it was a nice post-lunch dessert. I appreciate that when you dine in you can grab the sugar and honey and distribute to your liking. Patio sitting is great for nice weather days. Also staff was really nice.

The food was great. The ambience was uplifting. The beignets were light and airy. The owner was very personable and knowledgeable. We will be back. Excellent day date.

My beignets were sadly inconsistent - some were fluffy, others were doughy. The atmosphere is standard for boba shops. If you're craving a beignet fix, it's worth a try, just be prepared for potential inconsistency.

I recently tried this place and heard their banh cuon was really good, which is their rice paper crepes. However, they only serve banh cuốn on the weekends. When you first arrive, you order at the counter. The nước mam is served by the pitcher when food is served to you. Make sure to add chili paste in your nước mắm if you want spicy, but be mindful their chili paste is spicier than average! But sooooo good!!! We chose to sit outside since it was a really nice day. The outside patio reminded us of a cute French bakery, with a good amount of sun and covering. The only thing is I wish they put a no smoking sign. There were some gentlemen smoking near us while we were enjoying our meal, and it was kinda blowing towards us. I ordered the combination plate that had shrimp, ground pork, and bbq pork. I really enjoyed the bbq pork. It was slightly sweet but also savory. I also really liked their nem chua (sour beef sausage). The portion may look deceiving, but it filled me up pretty good. We also got the mini beignets pillows, served with honey. They were super fluffy on the inside, which I really loved! The medium portion was quite big for 3 people, so I ended up taking the rest home. Definitely would be back to try other dishes and desserts!

We were craving a warm dessert after getting dinner in Bellaire and realized it had been awhile since we all have had beignets. We were excited to see that chez beignet was still open after all these years. We had the pandan pudding, beignet fingers (small) and large beignets (small order comes w 3). The beignets were hot and made to order but had a weird flavor we couldn't pinpoint. The beignet fingers were too wide and dry. Of the two the original beignet tasted more airy and was better but they both just were not impressive. Sad to say the quality has definitely gone down while prices have gotten much higher. For just those 3 small items we paid about $25. Overall, the visit was a letdown and likely won't be back as there are many other dessert options around.

Maybe next time take your phone calls in the back and not at the register in front of your customers. While having them stare at you and wait to place their order. Unprofessional, embarrassing, disrespectful, disgusting, and unsanitary

The food was amazing as well the dessert that they have. Not to mention that the staffs is very friendly and pricing is also not bad.

I'm really surprised at the negative reviews. Came around 9:30 for some beignets and an iced coffee. Both were absolutely delicious. Beignets were soft and pillowy. Not over fried and not oily. The coffee was perfect. I had an iced mocha. Which most places are hit or miss. This was a hit. Nice amount of sweetness and milk. I would definitely recommend and return.

This place was renovated awhile back when it went under new ownership. The place is nicely decorated on the inside. Staff are friendly, place is clean. You can order 3 different types of begneits, fingers, lil pillows and bigger pillows. There are a lot of drink choices, iced or hot including coffees, soy milk, and smoothies, and much much more. They even serve food if you want more than sweets. This is our go to place for after lunch sweets with coffee. The beignets are fluffy warm and great with honey and powdered sugar. I definitely recommend this place if you're craving sweets.

Came here on a whim with my sister and we weren't expecting much. We decided to order some beignets and a coffee to just enjoy something small while waiting on our friends to meet with us. That first bite of the hot and fresh beignet, I was nearly speechless. The beignets were so light and fluffy! It just melded well with the honey and powdered sugar in every single bite. My sister and I looked at each other in awe because the beignets were THAT delicious. I will say that $7.75 for 3 beignets is a bit steep, but nonetheless - I personally think it was worth it. I really wished I had ordered more because I just couldn't get enough of how yummy they were. The beignets also paired really well with the sea salt coffee. The sweetness from the beignets and the bitter sweetness from the coffee really blended together beautifully. I also noticed that they were known for their banh cuon. I was really tempted to get an order to go, but I had to hold myself back since I was about to eat a heavy meal afterwards. I was really hoping to try it, so I absolutely plan on coming back for it and to get more of their yummy beignets! Highly recommend this place!

Stumble across this hidden gem on the weekend. I did not come here for their beignets, I was told Quan Ong had the best banh cuon in town! Here is the catch, they only serve fresh banh cuon over the weekends. You can see the lady making the banh cuon right near the register. Cannot get any fresher than that! I ordered the dac biet ba mien (special combo) which had pork and mushroom, shrimp banh cuon and bbq/grilled pork. The fish sauce was not too sweet or sour, had the perfect amount of sugar and lime. Staff and service was ok, it was kind of busy and the space was crowded since it was still Lunar New Year going on.

Served in a cute box with a small container of powdered sugar and honey, they are crisp on the outside and airy and light on the inside. Add a cafe au lait or a hot cocoa for dipping. Delicious. Plenty of parking. Can call for a to go order. Outside seating available. An order of nine of the large beignets (3 sets of three) and two coffees will set you back $35.

Cute little place and nice to hang out at. Why my 1 star rating? The canned pandan soy milk drink. Food Beignets were fine. Nothing spectacular. They were kind of sense and not so much soft and fluffy. Very oily. Here's my complaint. We ordered the pandan soy milk and wow, that tasted like it was straight from a can. Very very disappointed. Why should we pay $4.60 for something I can buy in a can? Jello was good. Expensive for what you get though. Workers were kind. No complaints. Atmosphere It's cute. Has outdoor seating also. Nice place to hang outside. A little cramped but plenty of seating. Clean. Modern. Overall I can't bear to let them get away with the fact that I strongly presume that they used the canned soy milk for our drink. Sad.

love love love the pillowy fluffy sweet goodness. i take my beignets to go sometimes but if i have the time i like to chill out at the restaurant. sometimes i get the little pillows sometimes i get full-size, sometimes both! there are food options available but i haven't tried. there are also drinks and snacks. once i came across some sour sop chews there (i love sour sop) but i've never seen them again. the ambiance is cute and chic, there's even an outdoor seated area that's delightful.

We always come here for banh cuon. It's really good and I always recommend here for my non-Vietnamese friends as it's a lot more approachable than other banh cuon places. Their service is normal and the ambiance is pleasant. It's usually a little crowded but we never have a hard time finding a spot.

I came here for the first time on a Saturday and really liked the decor and atmosphere here. Outdoor and indoor seatings available. You order at the counter and get a beeper to come get your food when it's ready. We only got the beignets which were soft and fresh. I will definitely stop by here again if I'm in Chinatown.

I had the egg coffee which is hard to find for some reason , it was delicious. They have a variety of drinks and desserts which is nice.

The beignets are so good and addicting! Obviously the best when still warm, but to my surprise they were still very delicious and tempting after a few hours at room temperature. Definitely, a guilty pleasure and a cheat day delight! I noticed a lot of people ordering Banh cuon, the rice noodles, at the cafe. So I came back another day to try and was quite disappointed. Was overpriced for a small portion and not to my liking. The Banh cuon was not bad per say. I see why some people enjoy it, I however did not; but don't let that differ you. It's definitely something you should try.

We got the little pillows and the regular beignets and they were so good! Instead of honey, ask for condensed milk on the side, it goes so perfectly with the beignet. The iced chocolate was very good as well. I'm definitely going to return next time my sweet tooth activates. Check them out!

They don't enforced social distancing and the elders don't where the masks. The young ones do though. I was disappointed in that. It was very crowded. When we ordered it was simple. The cashier was a guy and he gave us recommendations when we asked for it. The little beignets were okay. I never had a beignet and so I don't know if it's okay or not. I would give it another star but the lack of distance was a turn off. They do provide hand sanitizer though. Not handicap friendly but I can lived with that.

I use to love Chez beignet when it was in its old spot. When he moved to bellaire it was still good. Then the guy sold it and everything went downhill from there. The menu has a lot of different food that you can order and last time I had the beignet there, I could taste the oil, and it tasted old or other things had been fried in it. I wanted to take our friends there because it was late and we I just wanted something to do and I was craving beignets (not anymore after this). Anyways, we ordered a basket and we each had one piece and was done. I won't be coming back because it was terrible.

We walked over to Chez Beignets from Pho 54 (my favorite pho restaurant) on a Saturday. The place was bustling, but there were a couple of tables available and plenty of outdoor seating. After a bit of a wait, the food and drinks hit our table. The beignets were piping hot and light as clouds. In my best Tony Montana impression, I like to unapologetically pile on the powdered sugar. Note - powdered sugar and honey are self-service. I thoroughly enjoyed my egg cream, though I wish I'd gotten it with a chicory coffee instead of the charcoal milk tea. Why Chez Beignets has a 3-star average is beyond me. Their beignets are mind-blowingly good - crisp on the outside, fluffy dough that melts away in your mouth, and better than any fried dough I've had from here to New Orleans. My husband deemed them "better than Shipley's", and that is a real accolade coming from any Houstonian.

Horrible service I went this past Sunday and no one was working the register everybody was running around doing stuff I waited in front of the register for 20 mins and no one still took my order and people were trying to get in front of me to order so horrible never again I waited 6 more minutes and still nothing so I left.

I'm not sure why the ratings are so low because the Banh Cuon here is absolutely amazing and so freaking delicious. I think it might be the best Banh cuon I've ever had. Their Vietnamese coffee is also so tasty and flavorful. One of the best coffees for sure. I haven't tried the beignets yet but the food and coffee was pretty darn good so I'm coming back for those two items.

What the hell is going on at this place? The beignets were saturated with oil. You can literally squeeze it like a sponge and oil would spill down your hand. If you're looking for a cholesterol death, come check this place out. 1 star for the busboy who had to clean the inedible beignets. 1 star for the cashier who refund the money. Their food was ok. Their banh cuon wasn't great coming from a Vietnamese. The rice part was too thick and hard. Meat was minimal. And they serve fried sweet potato with the dish. It tastes great but it feels weird and doesn't fit with the taste of the whole dish. Their beignets are good. They took a little long with their food. And the servers seem to be clueless but it's not a big deal. It's a vibrant shop with lots of lights and a good place to catch up with a few old friends. I get the Pennywort and mung bean juice with no sugar and it tastes nice. I recommend that one drink.

This is an awesome place to hang with friends to chit chat and have a light snacks/meal. Their wet rice crepe combo is yum. A bit small inside but plenty of seats outdoor.

The service to give display items is OUTRAGEOUS. I cannot have something in the display fridge after I order it because other cooking orders are being done. All the cashier has to do is open the fridge and give me the flan. The owner needs to fix this. HORRIBLE SERVICE

Fresh banh cuon!!! This place is so unique that it makes their banh cuon fresh! You can actually see them making it from the register. Taste fresh and awesome. It's a rarity that some people would appreciate. We got the combination or 3 mien. That has shrimp banh cuon, pork with shrooms, and grilled pork. They are all amazing! Go here for authentic and delicious banh cuon. Staff and service are friendly and accommodating. Store looks small from the outside but quite spacious inside.

This Chez Beignets is not good anymore . Under new management . 6 beignet for $16.14 lol yet the dough doesn't even taste good . Would not recommend this place to friends or family . Very disappointed of the quality taste of beignet at this location .

The ratings doesn't give this place justice. I believe it's low because they kept the same Yelp page even after the name and the owner changed. This is a banh cuon joint that also serves beignets. Word on the streets is this is the best place for banh cuon, which is a Vietnamese rice roll or wet rice crepe. I normally go to Thien Thanh but after checking this place out, I am addicted to their banh cuon dac biet. My boyfriend, who doesn't care or like banh cuon, is officially hooked after trying it here as well. If you order the banh cuon dac biet (wet rice crepe combo), you get rice rolls wrapped in grilled pork with a side of Vietnamese style fried shrimp, cooked pork roll, and one slice of fermented pork roll. The fish sauce they have here is also on the sweeter side which is a plus. You can add some tanginess to it by adding the chili paste. Every one gets a complimentary cup of tea served with your food which is nice. If you can't wait for your tea, they have a self serve water jug at the counter. There is no table service here, you order and pay at the front, so don't expect too much.

Cute little shop with friendly staff located in a busy plaza. I really enjoy their decor of the restaurant. This place surprised me at first as it's really a Vietnamese cafe that also sells beignets??? Service: Cashier was very friendly. I did encounter a little snafu with my drink (noticed a little hair) but they were very professional about it and replaced my drink quickly. I appreciate their service! Food: We only came here for their beignets and drinks. I got the mini and were very surprised by it! We can put as much powder sugar and honey on them as we want. Their pandan soy milk was delicious! My absolutely favorite drink. Hubby got their other teas (forgot the name) and said it was just ok. We sauce alot of other delicious vietnamese dishes at other tables that we didn't see on their menu... hmmmm must have a secret menu. Overall: I would definitely recommend this place for deserts. We would need to come back to try their savory dishes as well!

Freshly made delicious beignets that come in three different sizes. Add your own honey and powdered sugar to your liking. Not only do the beignets come in three different sizes, but there are three different serving sizes. The full size ones as you can see in the picture are quite large and come either three six or nine to an order. The other two sizes are small enough that it doesn't really matter how many you get. But with the large ones you do have to be mindful how many you plan to eat or it might become awkward for sharing IE how do you split three between two people? And there is no option to just get a fourth. ‍ Two large ones is probably plenty for most people and if you're just going to try it one per person will suffice.

Came on a rainy day 30mins mins before they close. I figured since it's quick to make it'll be alright. Came in and they already had all their chairs up. I asked if I can order to go and they said because it was so slow they closed an hour early. I was very very disappointed, I drove 40 mins to Bellaire in the rain just to get turned around because they wanted to close early. I guess the store hours is merely suggested'...:(

This place is lousy. Service is suck with no waiting staff. Food is the worst. They also charge 3 percent for using credit card. Will never come back!

I agree with another reviewer that these hold too much oil because the oil is not hot enough grease. I had to put a second dusting of powdered sugar because the first dusting turned yellow absorbed from the grease in the beignet. The place looks great, has a great vibe. My iced boba coffee was really good

I happened to stop by Chez Beignets during the late hours because of the news of new management. So I thought why not give it a chance again? I walk in and it is just like how I remembered it to be like with a old school look and of course the same products. I ordered the 2 Beignets and a hot chocolate which came out to be $7.00 (cash only) It was very good and so was the hot chocolate. The beignets are airy/doughy. I usually like to add honey to them and a little extra powdered sugar. The hot chocolate is only 1 refill but it was enough to me. As of right now it is the same type of products so there is nothing to feel like it is changed in taste and I think is solid. Why fix if it isn't broken? *Ok side note* I have been to Chez before under the previous owner/manager years ago. I would say he was not very friendly and he would glare down customers. Especially being extremely uptight to a point where there was a rule of if you bring outside drinks into the business you had to either throw it away or pay $2-3. Which is of course ridiculous and of course there is a long list of other things as well. Which drove customers away and gained a notorious reputation. Chez Beignets is now under new management. My experience now was not like how it was in previous times. I was very much welcomed and I did not feel like I was being stared at to a point I was uncomfortable. I have faith in the new management to revitalize the business because a friend I known since I was in high school is in charge. I beg you all to give them a chance and consider visiting Chez. They are in a transition but I believe my friend can put the business in a good light and rewrite the notorious past of what it was before
