We loved our breakfast here. We did have to wait about 20 minutes for our table, but it was totally worth it. The patio is big and nice to sit in, with many fans and trees around and with beautiful French songs playing. Our waitress Paulina was amazing! Even with all the customers, the heat, the running around and all, she kept a smile and a great attitude. We loved her too!! The food was very very good. And the price surprised us, being way less than we expected. All in all, a great place for breakfast. Highly recommended.

Food was great. Everything tasted fresh and that may have cured my hangover and reset me for another day of imbibing. We had a big group and they were able to accommodate us pretty quickly. We had outside seating and you can easily people watch in the busy street. While waiting you can do some bird watching on the big tree outside. Looking forward to returning and trying some of the other dishes.

Food was well made! I got an Americano with sweets, and they were all great! Main course was a ratatouille omelet, and there was so much flavor. My wife got the French toast, and it was so rich. Thank you to the restaurant for a great experience!

Google
What a lovely place! I just had some chicken wings with a spice mango sauce that were delicious; accompanied by a couple whisky sours, also delicious. Varied menu and, from what I could see on other people's plates & faces, great tasting. Prices are more than reasonable, in fact, coming from the UK, the prices are really cheap. The staff are very pleasant although a little slow but, overall, a wonderful experience.

Google
Loved this place. My favorite time is for breakfast or lunch but recently visited for dinner and really enjoyed it as well. Besides the menu, their bakery selection is outstanding (in the morning is freshly baked). Fast service last time I was there but it was not crowded as it usually is. Right on the heart of 5th Avenue with mostly outdoor seating

I eat hear every time I’m in PDC. I am pleased with everything I have eaten. I especially like the Jeronimo sandwich. The pest is fantastic. I wish they would sell it!! Always ask god a side of pesto!

Mainly a breakfast place in Playa Del Mar. Food was good. Nice outdoor seating. Busy everyday.

Google
Chez Céline has consistently provided fantastic breakfast and brunch for us on our vacation. Ordered the croissant sandwich with mushrooms. The pastries are great! Es un lugar muy bueno para desayunar y almorzar.

Henry D.

Yelp
This place is very busy in the morning so you might have to wait 10 or 15 minutes because the coffee and the food is so good! I always order pastries to go so I can have a meal the next morning

Layla F.

Yelp
I ordered the chocolate almond croissant and coffee. My gosh it was the best chocolate croissant I've ever had. There's something very special about the Mexican chocolate. It tasted amazing. The coffee too was brewed perfectly. Service was friendly and if you love to people watch the seating is comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommend this great little cafe when taking a break on your 5th Ave exploring.

Yelp
Love this place! It is a go to on ever visit! The staff is so friendly and the food is amazing! Cute ambiance with inside a/c seating or in the garden!

Yelp
Chez is a POWERHOUSE of a French Bakery in Playa! Those baguette are baked right in front of your eyes and they are absolutely delicious. My favorite item, the "Jeronimo" sandwich, was Top notch! Get it! You will not regret it. It comes with an out-of-this-world pesto that makes this sandwich GOAT WORTHY! Now... those lime (lemon) tarts? Ok. I'm not really into anything sweet. So when I tell you this is a winner, it's a winner! I grabbed mine with an Oat Milk Latte. You're welcome! Service is decent. No one will be in a rush to get you things, or grab the check. But it wasn't dreadful. Just understand that you can take your time here. Because they most certainly will. With results like that, you won't be mad at all. Just enjoy the calm energy. As far as inside seating, there isn't much. It's not incredibly huge in there at all. It's enough room for a counter and display of baked goods (two winners: lemon tart and dulce de leche croissant), two restrooms, and maybe 4 tables. However, everything is clean and well done! As far as seating is concerned, you'll enjoy sitting outside on a sunny day the best! No worries, they have fans blowing throughout. Finally, after trying several spots for breakfast in Playa, Chez became our favorite! If you find yourself there, stop looking for another place, because you are looking at THE ONE! Enjoy!

Yelp
This place was a 5 min walk from our AirBnB and became our go to spot for coffee and the absolutely delicious dulce de leche croissant. I'm a huge croissant lover and I love the fact that this French bakery found a way to localize it with the dulce de leche flavor that is so unique to Mexico. After visiting multiple times we got a mini Yule log to go and that was equally exquisite. I like it that they had a mini version that was just right for the two of us. They have tons of pastries and a huge outdoor seating area that is ALWAYS packed. Definite must try!!

Joana R.

Yelp
This French bakery in Playa Del Carmen quickly became my go-to breakfast spot. The food selection is fantastic. The coffee served here was the best!! Just a heads up, it's best to arrive early as there's usually a wait of about 30 to 40 minutes, but trust me, it's absolutely worth it. The service here is outstanding, and the outdoor seating adds to the charm of the place. Overall, it's a must-visit if you're in the area! Ps. The cafe affogato is seriously the best!!

Samah K.

Yelp
Highly highly recommend this place if you're ever in Playa Del Carmen! The brunch here is absolutely amazing. I got a salmon croissant and a Nutella crepe. Both items were filling, fresh and delicious. Service was really good as well, our waitress was friendly. Ambiance is also nice, we sat outside on their covered 'patio'. I also got an iced latte from here and it was just okay, but it wasn't too bad to the point where I'd take a star off this review. Highly recommend everyone check this place out if you're in the area!

Farnaz N.

Yelp
It's been 8 years since I wrote a review here and I have to say that the almond croissant is still THE BEST! It's buttery, gooey, but flaky and melt in your mouth delicious. The price is reasonable for 52 pesos. It's a must try in the menu. If the wait is too long to dine there, then walk straight into the bakery and order one to go. I took a star off because the service isn't as great as it used to be. They are too busy to smile and really care about the customers. The cashier totally skipped me in line and took the order of the guy standing behind me first then accused me of cutting in line. It's disorganized and chaotic due to how busy it is.

Andre M.

Yelp
-amazing service: we didn't get the potatoes we order and she got it to us right away, honest answers about menu items -freshly squeezed juices -seated right away -appropriate portions -croissant was delicious -our server, Monse, made the experience even better

Shirley S.

Yelp
Delicious ...lots of variety to choose from, breakfast and lunch. We come here all the time when visiting Mexico. I had coffee and fresh pineapple juice. Scrambled eggs with salmon and potatoes. My son had the countryside (ham and cheese omelette). My husband had 2 eggs over easy with sausage and bacon. All delicious! Would recommend!

Brian H.

Yelp
Amazing French restaurant and bakery that has a wonderful vibe and atmosphere that literally makes you feel like you're in Paris. The food and drinks here are excellent and very fresh. You can literally taste the freshness of their food and hot and iced drinks. I can't speak highly enough of this French bakery and restaurant but I will say if you are in the area this place you should not miss. The service was very friendly and most of the servers speak English here so communication is not really a problem. Our waitress, hostess, and server were all very kind, courteous, and helpful. I would recommend Chez Celine highly if you are visiting Playa Del Carmen for an unforgettable meal. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Aisha K.

Yelp
Couldn't say enough good things. Food was amazing and server Daniel was the best. We came every single day here for breakfast and was never disappointed.

Wendy L.

Yelp
On 5th Street in Playa Del Carmen, restaurants are very expensive. We found this breakfast spot that is similar to pricing in Canada and was well worth it. Food was fresh and all homemade, even the Jam. Breads were outstanding. Huge menu selection. Great ambience. Excellent wait staff. This meal for both my husband and I was $435 pesos which is about $35 Canadian. We loved everything about it. You won't be sorry if you visit this establishment.

Robert U.

Yelp
Best Almond Croissant I've ever had. Amazing Aguas Frescas, loved the passion fruit and pineapple!

Sam G.

Yelp
Chez Celine is my favorite breakfast brunch spot in Playa Del Carmen. Make sure to add it to your list when in Playa! Fresh French pastries made daily!

Katia N.

Yelp
Cute French breakfast spot! The omelette was incredible. It had Gouda, caramelized onion, and spinach. Avocado toast had way too much avocado, can't believe I'd ever say that. The pastries are also delicious though if you just want pastries and coffee (:

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Great service. Worked hard to accommodate my party of 5. All items were incredible and fresh. Wish I had more room in my tummy for more! Even took some desserts home for later!

jessica p.

Yelp
The food was good, but the bakery items were amazing! Highly recommend the crème brûlée. We didn't have anything we didn't like.

Isabel E.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. Nothing EVER disappoints. We always make sure we come here when we travel to La Riviera. We recomend the apple strudel and the lemon tarts. The almond croissants are also incredibly delicious.

Brittany H.

Yelp
I only had the cookies but they weren't good at all. The other desserts looked good but the two cookies I had chocolate chip and double chocolate chip cookies.

Glenn M.

Yelp
Nice outdoor breakfast restaurant. The omelette and yogurt were very tasty. We had coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. All came with a side of bread. The staff was very friendly. A very nice breakfast.

Carmen C.

Yelp
Wonderful pastries. I planned to pick up dessert later in the day. The next morning I had a croissant that was fluffy, buttery, and flaky.

Lorena T.

Yelp
The food is delicious! I can't wait to return to PDC for more food. The almond croissant is to die for.

Shayla M.

Yelp
Love!! I got the "healthy croissant" with avocado, turkey and egg and it was so good I'm planning on going back and getting the same thing. My husband got the brioche French toast and the fruit was so an unexpected fun pairing! Worth the wait.

Shami L.

Yelp
We excitedly inhaled all of the food so quickly, my brain can hardly recall what we ordered! Thankfully for you I captured the photos :). The food was delicious and the portions were just right. The atmosphere is welcoming & warm, the staff is friendly & the French music playing throughout makes you feel like you're in Paris. It's also a dog friendly. Run here folks, it's so worth it!

Dani S.

Yelp
Overpriced bakery, items are overly sweet and not very good. Service was horrible. Came here to pick up a few baked items for a snack and breakfast, the servers working behind the glass counter was not pleasant at all. All of them have facial seizure or too much Botox because none of them could smile. We picked out a few things and they packed them up for us. All of the items were very pricey, equivalent to US prices. After they packed up our baked items, they did not give us any napkins or utensils. When I asked her for some, The server got really upset and gave me multiple dirty looks and was extremely unpleasant. Holy cow what a bad attitude! We at least thought that it would be worth all the hassle, but the baked items were not good at all. All of them were overly sweet, and most of them were under baked, and the ingredients were not very fresh. They are either tasted like powder, or chalky. Definitely do not recommend! Major tourist trap!

Diana F.

Yelp
Best thing there are the croissants. So fresh and buttery. Our breakfast dishes were decent. A bit pricey since it's 5ta Ave location.

Doyna L.

Yelp
Great food, the place is always busy so expect service to reflect that. Eggs were delicious, portions are big.

Kayla L.

Yelp
YES! YES! YES!!! Chez Celine blew me out of the water! From the coffee to the farm fresh eggs! I'm almost left speechless. I was surprised to find so many French and Italian restaurants throughout Playa del Carmen. It was not what I was expecting, and to my surprise these places have been my favorite. We are planning a second stop before we end our vacation.

Molly M.

Yelp
You had me at free wifi..but the breakfast was very good. The almond croissant and lattes were wonderful. The service was a little short but maybe because we are old and tourists? Not really sure but again, tipped like crazy Americans. Other than that, nice outdoor seating along 5th Av

Katrina T.

Yelp
The breakfast here is delicious. Love the Americano and the bread is wonderful. I also had a really tasty chicken Cesar salad for lunch one day. All around good food and atmosphere.

Ken S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best tasting pastries in the world. Lines justify. All puff pastries are great.

Marina H.

Yelp
We loved this restaurant so much we went twice. If you are in the mood for breakfast, sandwiches and salads this is the place to go.

Al R.

Yelp
IF you don't mind waiting 45 minutes to get served than it's ok. We were here for 1 hour and a half. Our order was not complete this place needs an overhaul on customer service. This is probably the worst customer service. But food is good that's why I gave them 3 stars.

L N.

Yelp
Little up the road from main tourist area but worth it. Big portions, tasted delicious, good service and prices were actually reasonable.

Jasmine F.

Yelp
Worst service ever , yesterday we went to Ches Celine for breakfast and we asked for 2 soups and juices , they took 1.5 hours to bring one soup they said the reason why is was late is because they only serve soups after 12:30pm and they forgot to tell us , at the end they end up bringing only 1 french onion soup and they forgot the second one . This morning we went back for juices and croissants and we asked them if they could make it fast because yesterday we where waiting for 2 hours and one of the cooks said "today 1.5 hours" and they all started laughing . Food very good bus service terrible !

Israel C.

Yelp
At least for breakfast its a really good option. The portions are as I thik most be, I mean not less not more. Sometimes the service is kind of slow, considering that in general not hurries (beach mode). Anyways, its the option to start the day

Mark I.

Yelp
Best french restaurant in playa. Great for casual breakfast of lunch. Probably going to have a short wait however it's worth it. Service is prompt. You be glad you came. Also if you don't have time to wait stop in at their pas counter.

Vinkin Ken T.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast around 8:30am on a weekday. By 8:45am their outdoor seating was filling up fast. My partner had the healthy drink and I had the chai latte. My chai latte was a little too sweet for me. I wish they had sugar on the side. There's no milk options here so hopefully you are not lactose intolerant. It was still very good. The service was also good. The food came out 15-20 minutes after we ordered. We both ordered opened face croissants. The croissants was nothing spectacular. The croissants at Costco are even better than these. You also only get half of a croissant. Inside you will find their display of pastries. We had a coffee eclair to finish. It had a lot of filling. So much that it was spilling out as you take a bite. It was also overly sweet. If you want better French pastries, there is another French bakery a block further down.

Kip M.

Yelp
A French lady introduced us to this bakery. We bought a chocolate croissant which we didn't eat until we got back to Arizona. It was beyond description! So good! We shouldn't have waited to eat it! Wish this place were in Tucson and rather glad it isn't!!

Tennay D.

Yelp
Their French toast might just be one of the best I've tasted in the world Their smoked salmon bagel was pretty good too

Jim V.

Yelp
Super overrated. Nothing special about the food, and cheapskate owner- you have to pay for butter and jelly for your croissant. Service has gone downhill over the years. There is a lot of turnover. Nice-looking though; always busy.

Bre M.

Yelp
I love this place and visit each time we come into town. Highly recommend the affogato and the savory salmon crepe--both great! My husband also had a sweet crepe and said it was good (but too much cream cheese). Great prices, awesome people watching, quick service. Get there as close to 8:30 as you can to sit down before the line starts. By 8:45 there was already a line forming.

Vlada L.

Yelp
Service was good. Plenty of outside seating. The chairs are too high compared to the height of the tables which makes it uncomfortable to sit. The menu is available in both Spanish and English with variety of options. The staff speaks some English. The food was OK. Not outstanding but filling with sufficient portion size. Savory crepe with chicken and mushroom had a lot of sauce which was way too much. Had to scrap some of it off. Latte was tolerable but definitely not the place to get an espresso-based beverage. Flat water is served in bottles as everywhere else. Prices are average for the area.

Jeanine C.

Yelp
Everything was sooo delicious 6 of us ate and no one was disappointed From coffee to eggs and steak sandwiches

Danielle B.

Yelp
Just amazing. The bread is delicious. All the food is good quality. A nice break from the food common to the area.

Sami S.

Yelp
They had their run and now all they have left is stale bread and no taste whatsoever breakfast. And bad service as well.

Apple C.

Yelp
It feels a little weird to be having croissants in Mexico, but this bakery turns out some yummy goods. We had a ham croissant sandwich and a smoked turkey croissant sandwich to go, so we can eat them in the morning before our early tour the next day. They were both delicious considering they were made the night before. Imagine how much tastier they would be when they were fresh out of the kitchen! The chocolate cookie was also divine. Super chocolatey and not too sweet. I would definitely go back for more!

Bryan C.

Yelp
This place came recommended by a local, and didn't disappoint. The short 15 minute wait for breakfast was well worth it. The food was excellent and the price was good. $20 for the 2 of us included tip. I'd definitely go here again.
