The restaurant offers an authentic experience in every aspect, including the cuisine, the setting, and the staff. The Indian dishes are deliciously flavorful. We were very pleased with the courteous assistance provided by Olivia. Thank you very much!

Google
The food and service were great. We opted to order off the menu as there were more authentic options. The food was delicious, portions were more than enough and the service was perfect. We also ordered a recommended appetizer, the fried okra. It’s was like eating Indian spiced fries - delicious. Another thing, we were there during Grand Prix, and I didn’t feel they took advantage of us like other restaurants that have a separate Grand Prix menu which is really just +15% regular price. I highly recommended Devi next time you’re in the area.

What's Up Montreal

Google
Chez Devi offers a refined take on North Indian cuisine in the heart of downtown Montreal. This is not a buffet, but they do have an incredible all-you-can-eat weekday menu, which we had the chance to try. The experience is completely different from a traditional buffet—this is elevated dining, where each dish is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The butter chicken was rich and flavourful, with a depth of taste that truly stood out. The samosa was generously filled and perfectly crisp, while the masala had just the right amount of heat—spicy enough to add a kick but still approachable for all palates. The gulab jamun was a highlight, with the perfect balance of sweetness. The ambiance is warm and elegant, making you feel transported to South Asia, and the service was exceptional. The staff frequently offered fresh bread and water, ensuring a top-tier dining experience. With its high-quality cuisine at an accessible price, Chez Devi is perfect for a business lunch, a night out with friends, or a romantic dinner. Definitely worth revisiting! Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Price: $$ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (many specials) Ambiance/Vibe: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (parking may be an issue if you are looking for free parking, use public transit or ride-share)

From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that immediately set the tone for a wonderful evening. The ambiance was inviting elegant yet cozy, filled with the aroma of rich Indian spices that hinted at the culinary delights to come. The service was truly exceptional by Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Firstly the wait time was a lot. Literally it took almost 40 minutes. We ordered food for 6 people, with that we ordered lamb curry and asked for extra spiciness, we got red chilly power on side 😅. I couldn’t add picture but I wish I could add it. Who would give hot chilly power on side which could be a concern if kids mistakenly touch it and swipe on eyes or blown by wind. Also we got the curry first and then we were waiting for bread naan And the curry got cold. (Another thing, there is no high chair for babies) it was horrible experience.

Google
It was kind of disappointing to dine-in compared to the food I had got via Uber Eats a few years ago. Not sure if the chef has changed. Overall, I would recommend Indian Masala Chai, Tikki and other tandoor related dishes. However, in starters, the tandoor dishes are on the expensive side given the taste and quantity. Gobi Manchurian 👎 The spices in the main dishes are times down for specific customers but you can always ask to ramp up the spice level for your order. Staff is nice and can provide good recommendations if you need any help in deciding what to eat.

Google
It's at the heart of downtown, good restaurant however, I am not it because of Saturday rush, definitely they can handle many customers. Good was alright! Chicken biryani - chicken was dry and did not have much of a favour. Staff was super friendly and nice though.

Yelp
3 of us for an early supper on Sunday evening...it was actually Mother's Day so there was a special menu available and a complementary glass of champagne for me :) We had Fish Pakora to start (a bit salty for me) but still very good with a lovely mint cilantro chutney and garlic naan. Our main dishes were Chicken Korma, Paneer Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi and a vegetable biryani. So delicious and overall this was a great combination of flavours and textures. Spice level was on point, the biryani being the hottest of all.. thank goodness for the raita and Kingfisher :) Portions are more generous than at other of our favourite Indian restos... We had enough to pack up some leftovers to take home, very easy process which we did ourselves and ordered more naan to soak up all the delicious sauces tomorrow. There weren't many people there so our server gave us total attention and was so helpful with his recommendations and friendly service. This only added to the great dining experience and we will be back!

Yelp
Visiting from NYC and stopped in for dinner at Devi in Montreal. My Gf and I enjoyed the flavors and uniqueness of our choices. Service was excellent, knowledgeable and attentive. Ambiance was very good, inviting and upbeat if you are in town, don't pass it by, stop and enjoy a great dinner.

Yelp
Visiting from NYC. Stopped in for dinner on a rainy day! Perfect spiced dishes to offset the cool Rainy weather. Had the Bengali fish curry, well balanced spices and tender fish accompanied by the warm and savory rosemary naan! Highly recommended if you're in downtown Montreal!

Yelp
Bon restaurant si vous aimer les mets indiens, le poulet curri est excellent, le pain nann est très bon aussi. Très bon service et tout est fait dans les règles de l'art ! Je recommande ce restaurant ! Good place if you like indian cuisine, i taste the chicken curri and the nann bread is equally good. The service is top notch as well. I recommend this restaurant !

Yelp
A nice looking Indian restuarant in downtown Service was great, the waiter was very attentive. We took the lunch special, which was 16.95 and included a soup, rice, Naan, samosa, gulab jamun & one choice of dish (I chose chicken korma). Apart from the lunch special, the prices were definitely a bit higher than other places, but it is a fancier place aswell. Overall, a good option if you want good Indian food at a nice looking place

Yelp
This is a nice Indian restaurant but the service was a real problem. My wife asked for minimal spice on her dish. Our waitress then disappeared and was replaced by a second, and then a third. Her dish was quite spicy but less than mine, so we figured we that was best they could do and she suffered through it. When the bill came our original waitress reappeared. We asked about the spice and she said "Oh, I forgot to tell them." No apology. Not good.

Yelp
My husband and I were craving Indian food and Devi really hit the spot! High quality ingredients, extremely friendly staff and delicious food. We tried the chicken tikka as an appetizer which was super fresh and tasty. My husband had the chicken biryani and I had the Chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and so satisfying. Cant wait to be back!! :)

Prabhleen K.

Yelp
I ordered food from uber eats from this restaurant, and since past few orders I have recieved they were bad, but after a long time I ordered from this restaurant, the whole food was burnt. Even the ingredients inside, everything was black. Seriously this restuarant was good earlier but not now!

Yelp
Frozen samosas, I recognize the brand. No mint chutney in order and the worse part .... Beef served instead of lamb....kind of ridiculous. Payed 70 for maybe 30 dollar's of food. Butter chicken is Campbell's tomato soup.
google avatar

Camille R.

Yelp
Got to try their food last week. Ordered to go and enjoyed the meal at home. Took two "repas complet" which comes with an appetizer , basmati rice , naan bread and a main meal. The butter chicken was very good. I loved the lamb plate the most. Their papri chaat was nice and tasty and it was like a decomposed samosa. Portions were ok - when I ordered they mentioned two meals would be good for 4 but I think it's more like for 3. I would not get the paneer pakora again. All in all nice experience and would recommend if you're in the area. Prices are good and good variety of quality food.

Yelp
I entered with family at Restaurant Devi during the MTL a la table event. The restaurant is super beautiful with a touch of Indian decors. Our waiter was the best ever. We are four people, and we received 3 services for 23$ for each person. First service, the appetizers: chicken 65, Manchurian cauliflowers, Amritsari Machli (fish tandoor), pakoras, samosa. Second service, the main dishes: butter chicken, chicken Chettinand, bhindi sabzi (okra mixed with tomatoes), paneer makhni, including Naan breads, lentils, and basmati then for third service, deserts: ras malai and kheer. Our food was accompanied with great white wine Risling. All these food and drinks were 116$ for four people. It was delicious. We had an wonderful experience of this beautiful restaurant, of the perfect, amiable and professional service, and of the flavorful succulent dishes. Definitely, need to take the advantage of the event MTL à la table.

Yelp
Good food, and even better service. A great spot for Indian in the neighborhood. Try the mango milk drink (I forget what it's called).

Yelp
OMG. This food was delicious!!! Everything we got was flavored perfectly and service was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Got to check out this place during LePoutineWeek. They featured a Butter Me Up poutine and it was really good. I really liked the Indian spin on it; their butterchicken is so good, that it just makes sense you add it on top of fries and cheese curds. I liked how they used potatoes instead of French fries, given how butter chicken is heaven on its self, it gave it a nice balance. I also really liked how the poutine was mountained on top of a naan. Nice touch. My only complaint is that I would have liked it to be spicy. When eating Indian food, I expect a certain kind of spiciness to it and this dish had none. The staff was really friendly and to of everything, needless to say, I will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Shania J.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with outdoor seating. It is an affordable dining experience, simple and reliable. Not much to expect on the wine list but the food was yummy and the portions are good. Great little spot for groups and college aged people, right on a busy street perfect for people watching.
google avatar

Anshita S.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant on Crescent street. The decor and ambiance is just phenomenal and makes it perfect for a casual dinner, date night or any event celebration. The service is excellent as well. We ordered a bunch of dishes : paneer chaat, Kababs, chicken, soup, kurkuri bhindi(crispy okra), Kadhai paneer, baigan bharta(eggplant) and various kinds of naan. Everything was delicious. The highlight of the meal was definitely Paneer chaat and Kurkuri Bhindi(crispy okra). Okra was perfectly crispy and seasoned and is an item that you don't usually find on most Indian restaurants menu. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Rabbiya A.

Yelp
We ordered several things for the table to share. The Chaat & Crispy Bhindi as appetizers. For the main course we ordered a Chicken Curry, Daal, Mixed BBQ Plate and Garlic Nan's. We got Mango Lassi to have with the meal and had Chai at the end. The three stars are for the Chaat, Cripsy Bhindi, Daal and Tea. Everything else was average. Service was friendly and efficient. Would not recommend this spot, as there are several other great Pakistani/Indian spots in Montreal serving authentic food.

Yelp
Wow! I love this place and their food great too. I ordered butter chicken and mix shimlamirch and both dishes are delicious. I really recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. I would definitely come back and enjoy the food.

Deepa R.

Yelp
Had a very bad experience at Devi restaurant.. the food is so expensive for the bad quality food.. would not recommend this place to anyone who want to try Indian food . Giving one star for the ambiance which is ok

Yelp
Surprised by how good the food and service was, Guntur chicken is amazing. Their dal tadka is spicy but Tastes amazing with naan and rice. Definitely recommend going to this place

Yelp
I'lll start this review off with a warning that I'm not very familiar with Indian food, and Devi was one of the first I've tried, so I may be a bit biased in that respect. With that being said, this restaurant is one of my favourites in Montreal! Every time I've been here, I've left pleasantly (occasionally painfully) full with enough food packed away for the next day's lunch. My meals here have been limited to weekday dinners and weekend lunches, and only very recently did I eat the lunch buffet for the first time. In my experience, the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet has the best value, especially the unlimited naan bread, which is pretty much my reason to live, but it lacks the presentation and selection that dinner has. And, of course, the food at dinner is fresher since it hasn't been sitting at the buffet table for a few hours waiting for someone to pick it up. Still, the lunch is a steal for its price, and it's great when you're in the mood for anything and everything all at once. Dinner is a cosy, ambient affair. One detail that stands out for me is the gorgeous lighting - I almost want to steal one of those lamps! The service is attentive but quiet, which is nice when you're trying to hold a conversation at your table. Overall, I'll continue coming back to this charming and conveniently located restaurant. Note: the free tea offer isn't available at lunch.

Yelp
I called to make an order for my team and then was told to order it online. After doing that I got an email that the order was cancelled. I called the restaurant to find out what happened and was rudely yelled at. I then called the online service that took the order who also mentioned that the person at the restaurant yelled at them and told them the order was too big. This is the first time I've ever encountered something like this. I won't be ordering from your restaurant again.

Yelp
Went to Devi for a mid afternoon snack and to escape the rain. Was pleasantly surprised at the modern interior and Indian decor. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much but the inside is really well kept. The restaurant was playing olden day Bollywood music and added to the cute ambience of the place. We ordered tomato soup and used the Yelp Check In deal to get free chai. Both items were excellent since they arrived hot to the table and were delicious! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to order anything else since we weren't that hungry but I would definitely return to Devi for a full meal. We also saw the lunch buffet on display when we went and for $14.99, it sounds like a steal!
google avatar

Makarand K.

Yelp
Food was okay, extremely bad service. Arrogant server, did not attended us properly. Food variety was less and quality was bad compare to Indian standard I will no go there again
google avatar

Thea M.

Yelp
The inside has a lovely ambiance, and the servers are great! However, it is rather expensive for sub-par and unauthentic quality. The dal makhani and lentil soup were fine, but my malai kofta was very dry, which it really shouldn't be, and the naan was wayy too oily. At this price point, you might as well go to Le Taj or Singh's for better Indian food...
google avatar

Anjan R.

Yelp
Good food.... horrible service !!! Our first order came late and then we waited for ever to get the food.... lost interest in food. Overall pretty bad experience ....does not look like the management and the kitchen knows to handle an average Saturday night crowd......
google avatar

Gunjan G.

Yelp
We ordered malai kofta and it was way too sweet and food was average in comparison of price. Too expensive in caparison or quality and quantity of food. Paneer till was also not that grilled. It was average.
google avatar

Jakie C.

Yelp
So the food was not bad but the service was not the greatest.. my husband and I were the only ones in the restaurant and we sat and waited for the waitress to come back as we sat here hearing her complain about her treatment.. don't come here if you are in a hurry and the buffet is over.. something else we weren't aware of is that they close the buffet at 3pm. If you have time to waste this is the place to go.

Ashraf A.

Yelp
The service it was very bad and the kind of Indian food And more expensive any Indian restaurant .... .......
google avatar

Shridhar P.

Yelp
Disgusting service. Food came after an hour. Servers was extremely useless. Did not even ask how the food was or if we want anything else...!! DO NO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY..RATHER GO TO CASINO...!!

Hira B.

Yelp
The definition of overpriced. Went to this place on Canada day since some of the other Indian places were closed. The plain lassi was bad and the aloo tikki was no better. The menu is underwhelming for vegetarians, which is surprising at an Indian restaurant. The paneer tikka masala was decent but the garlic naans were again poor. There was no saving grace as the service was slow and inattentive as well. There are better options for Indian food in Montreal, yelp them.

Rohit S.

Yelp
Here is a helpful hint. If you are Indian or a Pakistani or a Britisher please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. We ate here today and ordered three dishes. Butter chicken, Paneer Makhani and Dal Makhani. Dal Makhani was good. The other two dishes were made with the following recipe: 1. Open jar of tomato soup 2. Fry some onions 3. Add chicken or paneer based on what has been requested 4. Serve in a nice dish and charge $18.00 Oh and you want something with it? Naan or rice is not included. Then we got charged for an extra naan and when I gently reminded the waiter, he would not take my answer until he went back and checked with the kitchen? Really, some one who spends $80 for this lousy stuff will rip you off for $4.00? Anyway we got past that and I left the customary tip even though the Indian in me was fuming. Well, I could not resist and asked the waiter as we were leaving to explain what happened? You know his answer? "sir, 99 percent of people who come here are white people. If we cooked for Indians, we would go out of business". Hmm...I thought to myself, "Really, and it never occurred to you when you saw an Indian family to ask us how we would like the spices"? Oh regardless of the spice level, please never ever...ever ..yever...yever put tomato soup in any Indian dish. Even if it is Indian tomato soup. So, again my Indian, Pakistani or British friends...please walk on by and eat some good bar food available around the corner. ...and my white friends...if you eat here, please don't come to me and say..."we had this really awesome Indian food in Montreal"... This ain't Indian food! Got it? Good !!!

Yelp
My wife and I had our New Years Eve dinner here. The food and service were both fantastic.

Ujjawal P.

Yelp
It was terrible experience. It was complete misconduct. Server doesn't do her job properly. Not authentic food at all. Our issue with restaurant was not disclosing hidden charges when we order . It is not about money . It is about how it was conducted and forced nonsense charges .
google avatar

Lyn M.

Yelp
We loved this place!! The chicken tikka masala and dal makhani were awesome. Samosas, too, and naan. Friendly service.
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
My partner and I stopped by Restaurant Dévi on a Sunday evening and we gave a try to their tea, Samosa and Palak Naan (spinach bread) and we loved it! After trying the Maharaja Buffet a fortnight before, we can honestly say there is no comparison: the presentation, freshness and taste of the food at Dévi is of great quality. The atmosphere of the place is also rich and welcoming. Dévi was a nice discovery and we'll certainly go back in the future.

Yelp
Lovely North Indian restaurant in one of my favorite neighborhoods of Montreal. Great menu features a little bit of everything. We started our meal with some of the free, cone-shaped pappads and the delicious green chutney. A little spicy, and very tasty. Then ordered the shrimp appetizer. Delicious, huge shrimp grilled then encrusted in more green chutney. Amazing! For my entree I chose the goa fish curry--huge chunks of delicious salmon in a delicious watery curry sauce with plenty of onions and ginger. Perfect on a hot day. He ordered a lamb curry. We also had some white rice and plain naan on the side to go along our meal. For dessert I treated myself to a huge slice of the caramel delice, which was huge and delicious, and very caramelly--it's a layered cake. He had the rasmalai which were two little discs in delicious sugary milky gravy and topped with crushed pistachios. The outside patio is fun, especially when peaceful student protests go by and for otherwise lovely people watching on a hot, perfect, summer evening. Great decor, I loved the glass bulb chandeliers. Lovely restroom facilities too.

Sara M.

Yelp
This place has slightly overpriced food for the quality/quantity but it tastes good. I've been to many Indian restaurants around the area and this is not the best of the best but still good. The food tastes good and interior is somewhat elegant
google avatar

Austin C.

Yelp
Great place! I really liked the interior decoration of the place. They have a wide selection of both meat and vegetarian dishes. They also have special set of deals that I really enjoyed. Service was good also price is quite fair enough. I would recommend this as a place to try, one of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal.
google avatar

Raja Sudeep B.

Yelp
Having eaten at most of the Indian joints in Montreal, Devi restaurant deserves a mention for its authentic North Indian cuisine. The quality and the taste of the food served is by far the best in Montreal. I would recommend the foodies to try out Butter Chicken and Lamb Roganjosh which are my favourites here. The Naan bread served is one of the best. I frequently visit this place but I always order the same dishes. I shall try out new dishes next time :)
google avatar

Feifei L.

Yelp
The lunch special is well worth the price tag. You get a salad, a small bowl of soup, your main dish, rice, naan and even dessert. Everything is brought out at the same time within 10-15 minutes of ordering. I would come back for lunch to this place and try out some of their other dishes.
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
Read the reviews and decided to try. Nothing to complain about. Ambiance is nice, location is convenient being in the heart of the action in downtown,, waitress was awesome with an inviting smile every time she talked to us, food was delicious and cost was above average but definitely worth it. We had the lamb, the tondoori chicken, the lamb curry, the shrimp briyani and everyone really liked their food. Will definitely come back when were visiting Montreal again.
google avatar

Yatin P.

Yelp
Very good food.. Lunch Thali was a deal.. Very filling and perfect for 1 person.. Good sizes.. I had the Seekh kabab, lamb roganjosh, dal makhani, rice, naan, ras malai.. All for ~$18 per person..Taste is good unlike Kashmir in Old Montreal..
google avatar

Jehanne A.

Yelp
Went there on a quiet sunday evening. We ordered samosa (yes there was just one!) to begin with. It was dry and unseasoned and the salad was definitely just there to decorate (and apparently it had been there decorating for a few days). We then had lamb rogan josh and the butter chicken... I wondered if the chef had even ever been to India... Either he hasn't or the taste of people for indian food around here asked him to downplay the food. It was very bland, clearly he forgot his spices somewhere. The rice was overcooked. The only positive point was the naan, which was quite surprisingly good. Thanks for the naan, chef! Not at all a good indian food (unless you don't know what indian food tastes like and enjoy blandness) and above all quite expensive for the quality served. Too bad!
google avatar

Miryam H.

Yelp
Perfect for a great lunchtime meal and deal! I can only describe the restaurant's lunchtime special as a bigger version of a Bento Box. First you pick one of the main entrée options (vegetarian available) and the rest: daily appetizer, naan, rice, salad, soup and desert is included. I chose the salmon and it was moist and succulent pieces. Every part of the meal was delicious and even though the portions are not large, by the end of the meal you feel full and satisfied. This is a great way to get a taste of multiple dishes at once. The restaraunt also offers daily food and drink specials. For our visit on Thursday, we had the bottle of wine for just $29. But overall I know we will return for the good food and great service. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable and helpful. He was courteous in his translations of French to English. This made us tourists feel very welcome.
google avatar

Smitha S.

Yelp
This restaurant was horrible. We ordered the special murg tikka and the chicken tasted as though they threw a frozen chicken packet into the oven, sprinkled some salt and pepper and served it to us. We also ordered the paneer makhani and it was sub standard. The naan was tasty, so if you're up for some naan and pickles.. go for it. Otherwise i'd steer clear of this place.
google avatar

Eoz Y.

Yelp
By far, one of the best samosas I've ever eaten; their naan bread is simply delicious, and I've only tried two (plain and spinach) of the several kinds they offer. The tandoori chicken was fantastic, cooked to perfection in my honest opinion, and the portion was generous enough that you could easily share it. One tip, don't disregard the little white sauce that accompanies your chicken, mixed with it and the vegetables make a superb flavor combination. A must-return restaurant, there's just so many dishes to try out.

Ito K.

Yelp
Our group had 8 ppl for dinner that afforded us an opportunity to try several different dishes and a good measure of service. Devi met our expectation. Food was very good and tasty. Various lamb and chicken dishes were done just right. Shakil, our server, was polite and in charge never having to wait on food or drinks. Our experience was such a delight that 4 ppl from our group went back the second night! While keeping in mind that Montreal has very many good dining options. The home made kulfi for dessert, I thought, needed little more work on the night we were there.

Aniket W.

Yelp
Stay away from this restaurant.Food is ok Pathetic services and policies.manger with moustache is very rude. There are plenty of other wonderful Indian restaurants with great food quality and service
