Definitely enjoyed this place. Was invited by y friend who is a local and was blown away. We had to wait a little before seated but well worth every minute of waiting. The Escalope de veau Montagnarde was so good, very rich, very hearty, cooked very well with all its ingredients. I enjoyed the friendly service. Will recommend this place to all my friends.

Typical south west French food and basque menues. I took the restaurant’s special, whose source was very rich, and inside was the layered potato fries.

I am so thankful they offer takeaway. It has been 10+ years we were going to Chez Gladines Butte aux Cailles, and somehow they managed to keep the same amazing taste of their main courses across all these years. But now it has become more difficult for us: we have a 5 month-old baby, and we live quite far from the place. So today I took away two escalopes, for me and my wife. I had to take an Uber to deliver those escalopes at home still hot, so we can have an amazing dinner with my wife, and it was so much worth it. It was the very same taste we were getting there all these years... If ever you are into authentic French food experience (not a touristic one), go there and get it. But he ready for what it actually is! If not, please do not, so we can enjoy this place less crowded for 10+ more years. ☺️

Google
Never disappoints! This place is a legend place! If someone asks tell him The bonvivant said so!! 10 years ago, i use to come to this place because they offer traditional french cusine with a lower price comparing to lets say central Paris! And it never change a bit! The quality and the meals never changed! Thank you for keeping your genorisity and love to serve people! Yes you have to put your name sometime and wait , but defiantly worth the try, for a casual date, a catch up between friend and ofcourse go veryy hungry! My favourite is their signature escalope de veoaux ! Or entrecote

We had a great experience at Chez Gladines! The setting was very cozy. The restaurant specializes in Southwest French cuisine, and we tried their specialty, the Escalope de Veau Montagnarde—it was absolutely delicious! The dish was incredibly generous, served with plenty of potatoes, a rich mushroom sauce, and a large, perfectly cooked escalope. The flavors were amazing and exceeded our expectations. The service was also excellent—super friendly and attentive. Plus, the prices were very affordable considering the quality and generous portions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a hearty, satisfying meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere!

Google
Great service and amazing food. The prices are accessible comparing to other restaurants in Paris. I highly recommend making a visit especially since it stays open longer than other places. The restaurant is located in a nice and peaceful area so no worries if you come at a late hour.

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff were unfriendly and, despite numerous available tables, initially offered us a seat next to the restroom. When we declined, they seated us by a cold window in a high-traffic area for the staff. Each time a staff member passed, they complained, asking us to move ourselves or our dog’s bag. When we inquired about sitting at one of the many other empty tables, we received illogical responses, leading us to leave the restaurant. It was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Google
6/5 stars for the service! Everyone was friendly and treated us well. The food is flavorful and authentic, and the atmosphere is perfect to accompany it. Have in mind that they have a gap between the afternoon and lunch when they might not be open!

Yelp
I came here twice during our visit in Paris. The food was great with a fantastic service! Would definitely come here again on my next visit!

Yelp
I have eaten here many times since my initial review. We're heading to Paris next week and am looking forward to eating here!

Yelp
Being a native Spanish speaker and feeling much like a fish out of water, it was nice to come here and be able to communicate in either English or Spanish because my French is laughable. This looks like a bustling favorite for the locals. It was packed and food smelled delicious! Lots of Basque dishes on the menu with a smattering of southwest French food. The cheese and meat plate is perfect to share with a table and everyone enjoyed they chicken, and I had the cod, which looked like a casserole. Lots and lots of fish in there. I couldn't finish it. Generous portion sizes and decent menu prices for good comfort food.

Yelp
I finally made it to Chez Gladines. I came 20 years ago and they were closed for 4 days of renovations. The cassoulet Basque is THE dish to get. Domaine Marcelo Rosé from Corse. Excellent value for €19.50. A good pink. Poulet Basquaise - chicken thigh with sauce and rice. Good, but not great. Cassoulet Basque - Wow! White beans, sausage, chorizo, lardon, canard. Huge portion. So rich and brimming with flavor. Maybe the duck fat? Coffee, calvados + service - friendly (for a Frenchman) + no music + menu in French only - paper napkins - cheap Inox flatware - atmosphere - cool temp on a cold afternoon, minimal decoration €60.50 for lunch for 2

Yelp
This was one of the worst meals, and overall restaurant experiences, I have ever had--not only in the world, but even in Paris (see what I did there). Staff were rude, careless, and cold. (And yes, we speak pretty good French.) Food ranged from simple-but-competent (one of the salads) to absolutely disgraceful (the fatty, flavourless, overcooked, almost uncuttable steak). We were taken in by reviews suggesting this was not just another one of those bistros shovelling shit for shit's sake. Don't be! Cause it exemplifies the type! Go to Mcdonalds, go to any random pizzeria, go to the sandwich fridge at the supermarket on Sunday afternoon, before you darken the door of this place.

Yelp
I have been here twice - in August 2019 and more recently in August 2023. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are plentiful. The place is not big and the tables are packed in. You are very close to neighboring tables - which for some might feel quite awkward. At one point my elbow hit my neighbor's bread basket. A couple who had just been seated couldn't help but stare into my dish which to be fair was practically on their table. Moving your chair more than a foot or two might be difficult. It is like eating in economy class. That said, the waitress and owner were both very nice - cheerful and eager to please. The food was - once again - very abundant. The two of us ordered a salad to share, a steak and the duck. For the price, the food was good. I could not come even close to finishing the mound of potatoes that came with the salad and also with the steak. Fried potatoes are not my thing so just a few well seasoned ones would have been plenty. These were a somewhat unappetizing mound. Let me recap - People have different budgets. At 17 euros for a steak, the diner is certainly getting his money's worth. If you are able to spend 25 euros on your steak frites and you are not a massive eater, I would suggest going elsewhere. You may better appreciate a little more finesse and elbow room. If you are a very hungry twenty something on a budget who is ok with a tight squeeze, this may be your place.

Yelp
Southern French comfort, homely and sauced up dishes that can be served with wine and/or beer, which will make it a fabulous and fulfilling meal! I met up my French friend that I haven't seen for a couple of years, here! Say it ain't so, but time flies by in a blink of an eye! It was a wonderful food and dining affair! We had to wait to get a table for 2 plus hours and by the time 10pm arrived, we were seated and this place was still crowded! Whew, this place is popular! Ah, and after devouring my sauced up beef with side sliced potatoes and salad, I surely know why! It's delicious and I couldn't get enough of it! There are times when I wished I had two stomachs to feed and the times are like these entrees that they serve up! I do recommend their duck confit that was creamily sauced up! It was nicely tender! I preferred the duck over beef platter! I love Chez Gladines and you will too!

Yelp
One of my new Paris favorites. Awesome dudes running food and the bar, and just busy as hell. There's a reason for this...the food is awesome! We got some beers and some amazing Sangria. Pro tip: get the sangria. You will probably wait a minute for food, but that's ok! They play amazing music and it's fun in this joint. Ok, food. Oh, the food. We ordered so much, and we are it all because it's just that good. We got a dozen snails. The garlic and parsley. Oh wow, it was so incredible. We then got the cassoulet basque, which has pork, an amazing basque sauce, and vegetables. It's like your French grandma made you dinner. Heavenly. We also grabbed some chicken, the poulet basque, which was good but not as mind blowing as the other two dishes. You probably can't go wrong here. Seriously.

Yelp
A typical little French restaurant- charming, cramped, astounding food. The service was good, the decor was nice though not fancy. But seriously- the food is great. My mother had the cassoulet, which was superb. Hearty, a bit salty, chock full of goodness. I had the magret de canard. I love duck anyway, but this was outstanding. Served with a very fresh salad and simple but great potatoes. For dessert we had ile flottante, one of mom's favorites. All in all a wonderful experience, and I hope to be back someday.

Yelp
Loved this place! Very nice spot in Paris, food is great and large protions. The place is Very busy and expect to share a table with other people, the bread as well. More people to work there would be a good idea it is a busy place compared to the number of staff.

Yelp
Small space, limited amount of seating so there was a long wait but it's definitely worth it. The food here was amazing. Large portions and bursting with flavor. The escargot with garlic and butter is amazing. The duck confit was tender and practically fell off the bone. The squid was so soft possibly the best I ever had. The price is just right and I wish I could go back and try out more of their menu.

Yelp
O Good hearty food. I don't have much experience with Basque food, but I liked the food and apparently did everyone else as the place was packed. They don't rush you so people stay well after having eaten and paid. They were so surprised by how quickly we ate and paid (so un-French). We had escargot Basque style, Beef with pepper sauce, veal/pork/ham scallopini. My fave was the beef with pepper sauce. All served with rusty French bread. Wines are very inexpensive so don't hesitate to order with food. Desserts looked good, but we were way too full. This place does not take reservations, so prepare to wait or get there early (7 or earlier) as the French eat late

Yelp
The food here is - AMAZING - CHEAP - GIGANTICALLY Portioned The four of us ordered: - Salade Complète 8,90€ (fried potatoes, tomatoes, cantal cheese, egg, jambon de pays) - Escargot Cassolette Basque 8,90€ (escargot deshelled in basque soup base) - Escalope de veau montagnarde 14,30€ (veal covered in gravy and potatoes) - Confit de canard aux cèpes 13,80€ (duck confit with mushrooms) - bottle of cote du rhone 14,50€ (red wine) My favourite was the duck confit, however, the escargot was so good with bread because of the yummy soup base. My friends really loved the veal and the gravy and the layered potatoes with cheese. Honestly everything was great and to top it all off, the service was really good. I'm so glad I found this place via Yelp!

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. Althought we had to wait outside for an hour, this was mitigated by several cups of the hearty sangria served at the bar. After we were seated, we ordered wine and asked for the menu. The food is very nice french basque fare. I had the pave de canard, which was grilled to perfection, extremely tender. A great choice for anyone.

Yelp
A few of our Parisian friends took us to Chez Gladines, telling us that it is the BEST food in Paris that we will ever have. And they were absolutely right. First off, the portions are HUGE. Second off, the prices won't burn a hole in your wallet. Third off, every bite is as scrumptious as the first. The boyfriend and I tried the Confit de Canard aux Cepes (duck confit with mushrooms) and Escalope de veau Montagnarde (veal), and both were so delicious. We just barely managed to finish both of our dishes and rolled ourselves out of the restaurant with a stuffed and very happy belly. A word of caution: be prepared to wait, especially if you come with a larger party. Also, there's only one server for the entire restaurant, so be patient with him. He comes off as rushing and impolite sometimes, but just imagine if you were the only one taking orders and serving food in the entire place!

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting some friends in Paris last winter. After a long day of sight seeing, I wanted to try the french basque cuisine. Some friends had recommended this place. I went in expecting the typical tourist parisién restaurant (small portions, plain taste). Boy was I wrong. I ordered a salad, cause I was feeling heavy, but what they brought had almost no vegetables. It was a delicious large bowl of sausages, chicken and red beans. The perfect meal for a cold winter night. Next time I'll be brave enough and order something else.

Yelp
Excellent food, terrific value, large portions, a must go. Casual environment is simple, a little loud and crowded, we came as a party of 3 and had to wait 45 minutes to be seated AND IT WAS WORTH IT!

Yelp
In the quarter of La Buttes Aux Cailles an excellent restaurant with delicious escargots and ducks. A old bistro ambiance with very friendly boss and waitresses. Don't forget the desserts like the. Crème Caramel and chocolate tart. I will go again

Yelp
Chez Gladines is a really budget friendly restaurant serving such large portions of Basque food. The wait here is hideous... It will most likely be an hour or two. However, if you want to avoid the wait, you'll have to come here right when they open. However, that is totally the tourist way of eating dinner. Anyways, the thing to try here is one of their salads (I tried the one with the liver, which was quite lovely) and the escalope de veau. It is a huge mound of potatoes, ham, cheese, and veal, topped off with a rich brown gravy. Do not skip the salad! The salad is really good. Really, a salad and a main entree is plenty of food for two people. So if you come with a group of people, plan on splitting the entrees and salad since the portions are huge. There is also a bowl of communal bread.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing restaurant! The service was great and friendly even though it was a crazy Saturday night. My friends (3 or which were vegetarian) were all completely satisfied with our meals. Besides having amazing food and being flexible with our dietary restrictions, Chez Galdines was a great place to escape tourists. Its quite unassuming but quintessential French quinine.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and value! Had the veal special of the house and should have split it with my travel mates, but ate it all anyway. Tap water refilled all night. But they were full by 7:15 and stay that way. And this was a Wednesday night in February ! Dinner was 16 euro for the veal and 17 for bottle of Rioja. The salads looked huge and were delivered to the table in mixing bowls. No one in the place looked disappointed in anything. The service was excellent! I rarely review, but couldn't not do this one.

Yelp
Chez gladines is where you come if you want to stuff your face for cheap. Here, southern French comfort food reigns. The food here is basically the same as "les fabricants" or "chez papa". Portions are HUGE and it's a great place to eat with friends. This location is right in the heart of the la butte aux cailles neighborhood, and is a great place to stop before or after grabbing drinks in one of the many neighborhood bars. Service is friendly, portions are huge and tasty, and a laidback dining environment. This place is always popping. Have a look at the food and prices and you'll understand why!

Yelp
okay so I've been here twice now and had two totally different experiences. one great, and one horrible. Let's start off with the bad. The bad - I tried one of their salads. BIG MISTAKE. I have no idea why people give good reviews for the salad. Not sure if they have ever had a fresh good salad in their life. Anyways needless to say it was the worst. There was barely any lettuce in it, and there few that were in there were not even fresh. the salad was mostly their fried potato slices. Typically I would not be complaining because i LOVEE potatoes ok. But these potatoes were HARD. I don't think they are meant to be that way, and they were not hard in the sense of being crispy like chips. They were hard like they were stale and sitting out for a longgggg time. I didn't finish my plate, which is a rare rare thing. The good - came another time and had the chicken basquaise. This was some traditional french dish made of chicken with vegetables in some tomato sauce with a bit of rice. A-MAZING. The chicken was the thigh and drumstick (i love my dark meat) and was super moist. the portion was HUGE and trust me I can eat a lot, and I was dying at the end trying to finish it all. (which I did because I didn't want any sauce to go to waste). I would give this restaurant another try just because I think ordering the salad was stupid of me anyways. I don't think its ever a good idea to order a salad at a french restaurant. All the portions are huge here and the prices are CHEAP, so if your a tourist on a budget I would highly suggest giving this place a try :)

Yelp
If you're looking for the best bang for your buck in Paris, this is it! This was recommended by a local Parisian that was our bike tour guide and it was fantastic. We had the Veal and the Duck platters along with glasses of white wine and it was incredible! The Veal was my favorite and may have been the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend if you're looking for an authentic Parisian dish for a reasonable price with good service
google avatar

Yelp
here are so many positives to highlight at Chez Gladines. 1) It is rare to find a kitchen open this late in the city. 2) the portions are enormous, there is a 20% chance you will finish the entire dish. 3) nothing is over 14€. This is great value for your buck and with no compromise on taste. I had the duck with Roquefort and was more than satisfied. The duck was a nice medium. The side potatoes are honestly the unexpected favorite for me. In all, we had 5 different dishes in our party and everyone was satisfied. I am very grateful that chez Gladines was recommended to me.

Yelp
The food was delicious and hearty portions are served. Had the house special and recommend it to anyone going here to eat their first time. The atmosphere was very active and jovial. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it!!! If you are looking for some fun with friends, this is your place!!

Yelp
Paris - Chez Gladines ... reportedly the highly rated ya'-gotta-do-it place.: Hour long street-wait in frigid temp ... Ok that's the review of the best part. Harsh? Yeah. Ok, the atmosphere was poverty-chic; the spuds were great and the price didn't bust my balls. Other than that, pretty much .... See above. Steak was just bad. It was over cooked and tasted a bit off. The best part was the sauce, which was an ok au poivre. The cassoulet was a morass of brown stuff and fat . (Ok, the sausage was good.). The duck appeared to be of good quality but was cooked to shoe leather. The 'everything' salad was tasty, huge and well-priced... Hence, stars. My basque chicken insulted the Basque and murdered a chicken. It made me think about the dubious restaurant compliment, "home cooked', which assumes the food at home doesn't suck. In this case, were I Basque, I'm sure I'd be highly offended. I'd feel the same way, were I a chicken ... The potatos: The other star. were I a potatotarian, this is where I'd go. Perfectly cooked (fried?) little round wafers of spuddy goodness. The line and the buzz... There was definitely a buzz in the placed which reinforced the staff's attitude that we really were quite lucky to be there ... Just ask them. Full disclosure: I am not young & hip, which was the crowd. I am old(er) and apparently grumpy. I do, however, know my groceries. NOTE: Does not take credit cards.

Yelp
Chez Gladines is a Paris establishment and in my opinion MUST be visited. That being said, you don't go here for a calm, romantic night out...You go here to start a good party night or just to have a good cheap meal, drink some Basque wine/beer or some cheap sangria, and experience what is Chez Gladines for all that it is worth. This place is a rough-around-the-edges cafe with great (and really inexpensive) food with a very strong Basque vein running through it. The area around it is fairly young/hip with a lot of students coming here from the 5th and the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris or they might be recent grads who have settled in the neighborhood. Once you finish up there are several bars worth going to that are within walking distance. They DO NOT take reservations, so get here at 7pm sharp (or even 6:45pm) if you are planning on eating dinner...otherwise you could wait 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. You USED to be allowed to drink outside while you waited, but they ended that amazing opportunity and so now you must wait across the street and drink and they call when your spot opens up! (Sniff sniff) The service can be kind of "hurried" but that is the idea. If you are polite to them (say Bonjour before asking for your name to go on the waiting list or ordering a drink at the bar - it goes a long way) and just understand that idea is turnover and not a candle-lit dinner... Also, try to make up your mind quickly for your dinner choices. I recommend that you come hungry. VERY hungry. The BEST dishes here are: #1) The duck steak with Roquefort sauce (pave de canard sauce Roquefort) #2) The "5 diamants" (it's the name of the street) salad and #3) The veal (banquet de veau). I would not recommend the andouillette unless you know what that is and what you are getting into... The wines are great (a good basque selection) and they also have a sweetish Basque beer that makes me think that if a Belgian beer and st. Miguel had a child - it would be this. In general - all of the salads are awesome and come in GIANT stainless steel bowls. The duck also comes with salad and fried potato slices. Each dish could probably serve two people and my favorite is to come with a date so one of us can order a salad and the other the duck! (Miam miam! - which means yum yum in French...) If you read through some of the reviews you may find there are some grumblers who speak to the fact that this place is crowded or has less than stellar service or that the food is not just like how their mother cooked it back at home in the Basque region... They clearly just did not get it. The fact that the waiters run around yelling "Chaud chaud!!" and that the place is bursting at the seams with people is what give it it's charm. And please tell me when I can eat a giant duck steak for 13 euros that is of better quality. Frankly I think the haters sound just stick to their Guide Michelin... I love this place. If I have a friend visiting for even one night in Paris, I take them here or to my other favorite place: Le Petit Bleu (see my review). Maybe I am a bad person because neither place offers truly typical French "haut" cuisine....but whatever, that's how I roll.

Yelp
Visited a friend living in Paris for a while and she said we had to come here. She stumbled across it one day exploring. We got there as soon as it opened and there were already 10-15 groups waiting to be seated. After a 2 hour wait we finally sat down. (Expect to wait 2 hours anytime you go according to my friend. Also, there's a small park around the corner if you want to kill some time strolling.) The food was SPECTACULAR! Ce n'est pas mots pour la nourriture de Chez Gladines! This is a MUST if you're going to visit Paris or if you're anywhere on this continent.

Yelp
I had dinner at this quaint little bistro while visiting a friend in Paris. I absolutely loved the small crowded family style setting! Affordable menu & tasty dishes. *Be sure to bring cash, as they don't accept credit cards.

Yelp
We stopped by here on our last day in Paris, on our way to the airport. The place is small and quaint, they were nice enough to store our luggage in a corner for us while we ate. Our waitress spoke perfect English since she spent some time in America, so that really helped. She recommended the escargots that came in a creamy soup (forget the name) and it was absolutely delicious. As for the main dishes, all of them are GIGANTIC. For such cheap prices by French standards, the portions are HUGE, even by American standards! I got the duck confit which was yummy, my boyfriend got some cheesy saucy chicken dish that was way too big and heavy, but I guess men love dishes like that. All in all, I really liked the atmosphere of this place - nice and homey - and our waitress was so so kind. Also the price is soothing to the soul after four days in Paris.

Yelp
The most authentic bohemian little spot in Paris. The average American tourist should avoid this place at all costs: it is loud, super crowded, the wait is ridiculously long, the staff is rude and you share water bottles with other people. But for you adventurers out there who want to experience the real Paris, then it is perfect. It is loud, but it is full of great happy authentic energy. It is crowded, but the crowd is artsy, fun, young (at heart anyway) and bohemian. You will make ten new friends, at least. The staff is not rude, they are just French. Smile and be rude to them too. The long wait is part of the experience and the tradition of this place. You go there with a bunch of friends and while you wait you drink cheap bear out of plastic glasses on the street in front of the restaurant. In Paris, do as the Parisians do! and have one of the huge salads.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Paris. Great Basque food, huge salads at very affordable prices (ca 10€/person). 2 minor drawbacks: - Very noisy, all the more so since a new liberticide law was passed 1 month ago (June 2011), which forbids people to wait in the streets while drinking (now people drink inside the restaurant). - Reservation not accepted so you have to arrive early otherwise you'll have to wait for quite some time (30 to 60 minutes is usual) and won't be allow to have a drink outside...

Yelp
I am still dreaming of Chez Gladines. This was my favorite restaurant during my trip to Spain and Paris. I was so happy while consuming my meal that my cheeks started hurting from smiling so much. Yea. That good. The restaurant has a very lively and party-like vibe. It offers food from the Basque region, and while I'm no expert, I can confidently say that Chez Gladines serves up some delicious eats. The Salade 5 Diamants... the veal smothered in gravy... the duck with roquefort sauce... the escargot... everything is a must! Huge portions for such a reasonable price. Expect to wait. My party waited for over an hour to be seated. While waiting to eat is never fun, the fact that the restaurant attracts such a huge crowd of mostly locals is a direct result of the amazing food they provide. Good sign! Luckily, theres a bar across the way to keep you preoccupied. Also, contrary to what I have read in other reviews, I found the staff super helpful and friendly. Our waiter (bless his heart) helped us American tourists out in trying to decipher the menu and gave us recommendations on what to order. I want to go back to Paris JUST so I can eat at this restaurant again. No joke.

Yelp
Food: Great food! My party tried the duck breast, basque chicken, and the cassoulet. Only reason for 4 stars is because all of our dishes were slightly salty. Service: Attentive and friendly, but didn't try to push us out once we were finished. Atmosphere: Excellent -- it sits on one of the main boulevards in the area! I highly recommend this place, it's been my favorite so far after 3 days in Paris.

Yelp
We went her the other night after all the great reviews on yelp. We sat inside and the service was good. I asked for a recommendation and was told to order the veal. It was good. Veal over scalloped potatoes with a cream and cheese over the top. I think this place is good. Not great.

Yelp
Obviously you come here for the food, but I prefer the ambiance at their 5eme location better. Because here, it is LOUD, CROWDED and SMALL. However, the food is delicious. They have homemade deserts that are served in large portions, big salad bowls with lots of meaty bits, and some questionable ingredients that I suppose are "basque". If you're adventurous, I advise you to try some! This is not me. No, I go for the chicken. *AMAZING* and not boring at all ! Be prepared to wait (they don't take reservations and there is usually a line), then stuff your face with some choice basque food.

Yelp
A friend recommended this restaurant and this specific location and I'm so glad I took her up on it. One of the best meals I had while I was in Paris. I got there about 2 minutes after it opened and I'm glad I did. Not long after there was a crowd waiting to be seated. I went with the chicken on the recommendation of the waitress and cleaned my plate. The atmosphere is really chill and I appreciated that it was decidedly non-touristy. Interestingly, the waitress sat another lone traveler next to me and it turned out that he went to college in my hometown! And lived in Sacramento! Small world! He got the veal and it was knock you on your ass fabulous. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and hope to make it back here again someday.

Yelp
It's been several years since we ate there and before reservations were an option. We arrived early and didn't have much of a wait. We were seated next to a group of 4 young men (we were the oldest people in the joint :). One of the men was a race car driver. We had a good conversation and the food was delicious! My wife had the cassoulet and I had the veal montagnard. I'm excited to go back this fall and try some of the other dishes and the gateau basque!

Yelp
If you visit Paris, you MUST visit Chez Gladines. Portions here were huuuge and very affordable for what you get. It was a dream come true for me since I was expecting to pay top dollar to eat well in Paris. We ordered a few things to share including the veal, duck, salad, and escargot dishes. Everything was amazing and I don't think at one point anyone in our party looked up at each other we were so focused on the food. They are extremely busy and the wait was approximately 45 minutes to an hour for us. Our waiter was very helpful, friendly and patient. This was my favorite restaurant during my Paris visit and when I visit it again, I will definitely make an effort to come here again. Merci Chez Gladines!

Yelp
I love this place. Every time we're in Paris we have to come here. The quality of the food is ridiculously good. The fowl, escargot, salads, and potatoes are just made with excellency. Local, homey, well priced. Done.

Yelp
I feel like we may be returning to Paris just for their cassoulet. We ate it a year ago and bring it up about every other week. We are returning in a month and it will be the first place we stop to stuff our faces! This restaurant is a warm, small, friendly, and a hip must eat! Do not worry about the family style seating ... everyone was friendly, we shared bread, and advised one another on meals. I am not usually one for the occasion, but it was quite comfortable. There will be a wait, and I am assuming in the peak season months it could be quite a wait. So don't go starving because I am telling you that walking away due to a line is a bad bad bad idea.

Yelp
One of our favorites from studying abroad in Paris for the summer. The portions were generous, the price was fair, and the place was cute. The veal was tasty and the sangria was delicious on a warm summer evening. It's good that we walked everywhere while we were there because my classmates and I were all so full after our last dinner together. I took my other friends here for lunch when we travelled after our programs ended and they loved it as well.

Yelp
Good place to eat with your friends. Their salads and the famous "Escalope de veau montagnarde" are really good and tasty.

Yelp
I went here 9 years ago with my best French friend, and I will never forget this meal. It was the best meal of my life. I hope this place never changes. Sorry that it's been so long, so that I don't have pictures or more specifics. I remember my meal was served in this cool cauldron of sorts, and that it was supposed to be distinctive Southwestern French cuisine. Next time I'm in Paris, I'm definitely going back.

Yelp
A casual spot to have traditional cuisine du sud ouest. I have only been to the one in the 13eme, it as a success. We arrived right before the place was completely packed (aka 12pm sharp), They serve gigantic, plates with lots of patates, good pieces of meat, humongous salads, lots of sauce, and plenty of different types of wines to choose from. You eat at the same tables with other people, staff is super friendly, and it could really be my cantine if I were living over there.

Yelp
This was my favorite restaurant find while living in Paris. Adorable place tucked inside the history ridden/graffiti dominated revolutionary neighborhood. I was on the search for a cheap-er, delicious, filling place and, after coming across several positive review of this place as just that, I gave it a try. The place gets crowded with locals (a good thing) so be strategic about when you go/arrive. And I don't mean just busy by crowded, it gets crowded inside as well and, in European fashion, they'll combine your party with another unknown party at one table if it means you can be seated. I wish this was done in the states, I met many interesting people this way. Anywho, the food is delicious. The Basque Omelet and any of the massive, for French serving sizes, salads were my favorite choices. Reasonably priced carafs of good house wines too! I also was traveling at one point with a friend in a wheelchair and was very impressed by how accommodating and helpful the hostess was in getting us comfortably seated.

Yelp
Simple and delicious. Priced very well. Went twice during my four days in Paris. Mostly locals with a few photo-taking tourists. Hungry thinking about it.
