Chez Grand-mère

The food was SO good and filling (just like eating at your grandmother's). Portions were large, our hosts were hospitable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Prices were VERY reasonable. If we are ever in Valence again, we will certainly return and we highly recommend anyone stop in for a comforting meal.

Very nice atmosphere sitting outside and clearly a place for the locals! Super popular at lunch time. The salad was fried ravioli was a interesting combo. It was really huge would get a smaller size next time. Really enjoyed the broccoli puree

All in all a great experience.. Best lamb i ate recently. Wrong choice for starter for me but i lost to my culinary curiosity; not bad just not my thing. Reservations recommended. Or go late and insist and not leave. That’s what i did. Update: I went back for lunch. Because why not? And i am happy i did. And let me help you and establishment a little more Hot plates need to be told yow! Specially after having almost seriously burned my hand and telling the guy about it; and he puts a hit plate again on the table without telling you? What’s happening here?? Also i wasn’t under the impression that this is a military cantine. If one likes to change a side with an equal and available side, the answer shouldn’t be a military style NO. In my case it was potato puree vs roasted potatoes. What’s happening here? Last but not least.. if you are two and not big eaters, a starter and a main dish will more than suffice; that’s how the dish prices can be justified if you get my drift. Not saying it is expensive. It is worth every penny! I will go back to this place anytime

Great restaurant for traditional French cuisine. Packed at lunchtime on Sunday, so make sure to reserve a table.

I loved the lunch I had with my son at this great restaurant. I found the food to be an excellent representation of French cuisine in the region. To add to this, the restaurant inside is stunning with its thick archway and very old oak beams, lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was full and the food came quickly so I would highly recommend Chez Grand-mère.

Best meal we had in a while. The food is interesting and delicious, and the portions are big. We had the tarte with goat cheese as appetizer, the veal liver and the ravioli, all were delicious.

A delightful setting. Friendly. Busy. Food was good. Service was friendly but slightly slow. Food value for money. All round an excellent night out.

To be honest, I expected more. I "liked" the serving of cognac in a whiskey glass. This is strange. The service is polite and fast enough.

I loved this restaurant so much that I came back two nights in a row. It can be hot inside if you're dressed warm and it's a warm day so dress appropriately. The service was great and the food amazing. I'll be back for sure.

Great little restaurant in Valence. Rustic, French cuisine was very delicious. This spot was very quaint and inviting.

Chez Grand Mere was recommended by a lady working at my hotel. Good food and wine on a nice patio in the old part of town. Reasonably priced but not cheap. Make sure you read the big board of what is available for dinner that evening, because they don't seem to have printed menus (perhaps due to a changing menu?). Staff were nice, but be aware that each waiter has to cover a lot of tables.
