Chez Jules instantly transports you to a convivial Parisian bistro, and the hospitality starts the moment you sit down. We were delighted by the complimentary bread, savory salami, and wonderfully garlicky olives, along with fresh water. The atmosphere is very cozy, romantic with dimmed lights, candles lit. It really sets the mood. I would recommend for dates but there were actually a lot of birthdays, families so it’s suitable for all kinds of special occasions or just a regular dinner out. The food is magnificent, particularly the steaks. The 8oz Filet Mignon was tender and perfectly cooked, matched in quality by the excellent Steak Frites. For a starter, the frog legs are a must-try: deliciously cooked to perfection with a beautiful splash of garlic. The gratin dauphinois was also very creamy! (Could have been a bit saltier😆) The exceptional service truly elevated the evening; the waiters were extremely attentive to my intolerance, handling my dietary restriction with professionalism and care. Chez Jules is simply the best French dining experience in Edinburgh—highly recommended! 10/10!!😍 btw I highly recommend to BOOK a table.

Overall, an inexpensive place for a very great deal. You can get an afternoon meal deal (entree, mains and desserts) for £15.90, which is definitely a bargain! The steak frites and french onion soup are probably their best sellers / iconic dishes. Needless to say, they were very delicious. The pate was also very tasty, and the portion sizes were generous. Only downside of this restaurant is that it takes a while for them to notice you even if the restaurant is not that busy. We stood at the entrance for a while before the staff decided to help us, and even when ordering, the staff took a while before taking our orders.

Really good food and great value for money for a 3-course lunch! The French onion soup with the steak frites and chocolate mouse dessert is so delicious, I could literally eat everyday if I had the money lol The atmosphere is so nice with the dimmed lighting and the aesthetic they have going on is really nice. Best spot hands down! Been over 10 times now I’m addicted and have never been disappointed only more impressed every time!

“The grub’s nae fancy, but it warms yer belly and nae hurts yer purse. This wee spot’s got a charm ye cannae find anywhere else – laughter bounces off the walls, cutlery clinks in rhythm wi’ the chatter, and a dram or a pint makes it feel like Edinburgh’s secrets are whisperin’ just tae ye. Sit back, tak’ it slow, and ye’ll leave smilin’, thinkin’ how bonnie a simple night oot can be.”

Yes ... it's kinda noisy... but that is because it's, deservedly, popular! Great value lunch menu which is highly recommended. Was particularly busy as Edinburgh Fringe but service was prompt, not very French, but appreciated with an itinerary.

Came for lunch. We had a reservation. Incredibly crowded and loud inside. Decorated nicely, looks very cool, and definitely vibrant, but too loud honestly. Our food took very long to come out but it seemed like this wasn’t just our table. We ordered the Toulouse sausage and bolognese. They were fine. Not bad at all, not amazing at all. Just alright! Probably overpriced for what they were.

my boyfriend had highly recommended this place and we finally had time to go! we just went with the two course lunch deal which is very well priced for what you get. we both got the french onion soup and steak/frites. the soup was very filling and was perfect meal to have on a cold day. the steak was nice and became perfect with the peppercorn sauce only thing i would say as the chips were very crunchy and difficult to chew but i put that more towards being one of the first customers so wasn’t a big deal! also appreciate the little plates brought out at beginnig of the meal as well as having pear cider on the drinks menu!! overall a great lunch and shout out to the staff for working so fast and in such a busy location!!

Je t'aime, Chez Jules! I’ve lived in Edinburgh for over a year now and only just stopped in to try your infamous lunch deal for the first time today. It had me questioning why I haven’t been having lunch here at LEAST once a week for the last year! Three courses? £15.90? Unbelievable deal. To start, the French onion soup warmed my soul on a dreich Edinburgh day, followed by steak frites and a peppercorn sauce that was the perfect amount of peppercorny-ness, topped off with the best choccy mousse of my life. My partner had the panna cotta and we couldn’t decide which dessert was yummier. Hands down the best food I’ve had this side of the Channel.
