Thank you for a platform to give you my honest review. We are in Paris for our first time. My husband and I were looking forward to a very lovely evening with you. Upon entering, we were seated in an area where we were the only patrons and sat next door window that had another lovely couple directly on the other side of the window. We felt we were intruding on their time and they clearly felt we were intruding on theirs. We asked to be relocated. We then watched the hostess attempt to see the next five groups, and each one also asked we relocated as they were being offered would be perceived as the worst tables. A waitress which was very welcoming quickly took our orders. Starters arrived, and this is when my disappointment set in again. I am attaching photos of the salad I was presented. In a restaurant of your caliber, I would think you would agree this is unacceptable. The waitress clearly saw the inedible lettuce and said nothing. Upon opening a bottle of wine, she did a very insincere checking of the bottle quickly to pour and never touch the bottle again. Having to attend our own bottle of wine and waters was a surprise. If fact the only time she came but was to clear. My husband enjoyed his lamb while I found my meat to be very dry. I am sure that this review does not bring joy this Monday morning, but with a caliber of your lovely restaurant and as a small business owner myself, I would want to know. I am wanting to attach a photo of sad salad. Will s Regards Sue.

What a beautiful gem of a restaurant—very chic! I’d love to reserve the place for an event one day. From the warm welcome to the excellent service, everything was spot on. Compliments to the one server who seemed to cover all the tables in the main room—so efficient, friendly, and remembered everyone’s order! The food was absolutely delicious and well-seasoned, and the wine was superb. The champagne (a must in Paris!) was served perfectly chilled—a beautiful Blanc de Blanc. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, but I especially loved the indoor area with its stunning glass ceiling and vibrant colors—such a special atmosphere. Also, don’t miss the bathroom decor—very cool and worth a peek! One of my favorite restaurants in Paris. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Chez Julien!

If you’re looking for a cozy and charming terrace spot in Paris, this place is a great find! The staff was very friendly, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the escargots as a starter, and for the main course, the magret de canard and truffle risotto were both outstanding. It was our first time having a truffle dish that wasn’t overpowering—perfectly balanced and delicious!

Absolutely amazing restaurant--French cuisine at its finest, perfect service, gorgeous premises. Everything was prompt, delicious, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. I enjoyed every mouthful, from the creative cocktail to the succulent duck breast. Will 100% go back when I'm in town again.

We just came back from a dinner at Chez Julien. Loved the place and the outdoor seating. Service was exceptional and food was amazing. We had the Foie Gras for appetizer and Duck Breasts and Truffle Risotto for main course. For desert we ordered the Chocolate torte with sea salt. Thank you for the great dinner!

Google
We walked in (3 ppl) and managed to get a table for drinks and light lunch and we were so happy we did! First of all this place is incredibly uniquely decorated- very old school classy, red carpet and vintage silver pieces. It’s amazing. We had the cheese plate and some other snacks along with drinks, all tasted incredible. 11/10 would recommend.

Google
The waiters spilled wine at my shoes and pants and just said sorry but they left the wine under my table for a while without coming immediately to clean it, I had to call them 4 times until they came to clean it.

Google
The sole meunière was nearly inedible. It was tough and a little fishy. It felt like a sin to do to the fish. The mashed potatoes were a little sour. I forced myself to eat the sole since it was so expensive and did not want to insult my table. The other guests ordered the Simmental steak for two and it was very very tough, they were so disappointed. :( The only reason I’m giving it two and not one star is because the waitress was amazingly warm, friendly and accommodating. Loved her!! What made me really really hate this place is that they played American country western music. What are they thinking!?! It’s clearly a tourist trap. Do your research, do not go here under any circumstance because there are many good restaurants in Paris.

Yelp
Dining at Chez Julien was a truly wonderful experience. The decor and ambiance were simply stunning--elegant and romantic, with a classic Parisian charm that made the evening feel special. The service was attentive and friendly, making sure everything flowed smoothly throughout our meal. And the food? Absolutely impeccable. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. If you're looking for a restaurant that combines great food with a beautiful setting, Chez Julien is a must-visit.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place because we were so hungry. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We both got a croque monsieur which was overpriced! It did taste fine but not for the price. The ambiance was nice and so was the staff but that is the most that can be said for this restaurant. We did not try other dishes.

Yelp
The food, the ambiance, the service were phenomenal. It's just a quintisential Parisian experience by the river! Especially if you do it during the opening ceremony of the Olympics !!! Even a simple salad bursts with freshness really brightens and wake up the greens when done the way it is here. The escargot had an intense depth of flavor with garlic and herbs, married with the butter on bread! The meal was just perfect, and it's SERIOUSLY all because of the bubbly gorgeous half American half French server Salomé !!! I basically came in that day to Paris and was a little overwhelmed. I asked for her recommendations and she just took over and asked me a couple of questions and suggested what my meal should be. She even suggested one of the best wines to compliment my meal !!! Incredible person and personality! I hope she reads this, cause I cant thank her enough. I will be recommending this place to all my friends and family in Paris and those traveling to Paris.

Yelp
Chez Julien canceled my reservation without warning and when I called for an explanation they were rude in the most cliche French way. Do not go here. There are a million other good places. No need to be treated rudely. With so few stars, perhaps I dodged a bullet!

Yelp
I got food poisoning here! Avoid! I had the chopped veal tartare with truffled pearls, french fries & salad. Not sure which ingredient caused the problem. I didn't eat anywhere else all afternoon and evening, and woke up overnight throwing up and with major digestive issues. Emailed the restaurant to let them know about the issue, and they called the next day denying they were the problem. Extremely bad experience. Don't eat here.

Yelp
Actually want to give it 4 1/2 stars. We made reservations for this past Wednesday for four. Three of us had the lamb chops which we all got pink as good lamb should be cooked on the rarer side. It was pretty damned delicious! It was served with creamy mashed potatoes that were absolutely perfect. My husband had the Chateaubriand with truffles which was served with a pepper sauce and fries. He loved every bite. The portions were generous. We got three chops each. And the Chateaubriand was a nice thick cut. The setting is quite lovely. We were seated on the enclosed terrace. Service was good. The wine was good but very pricey. Overall a great experience. Only complaint is the prices were a little steep even for Paris. But even so we would definitely come back.

Yelp
Curious about the bad reviews here, as everything was really nice and the service was great! We went in at a little bit of a weird time, and just got drinks and appetizers. We got pommes frites (of course), and a delicious burratta/egg dish. This was so good, we actually got it twice! The drinks there were also delicious. This place is in a very cool area, and not super touristy. The staff spoke pretty good English and it was very clean inside. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
"My dinner experience at Chez Julian was the worst I've ever had. The service was abysmal; it felt like they were treating us as if we were dining for free. We paid a hefty 350 euros for a meal, and to top it off, the way one of the staff members threw a plate for us was utterly disrespectful. If you're coming from Asia, I'd recommend staying far away from this restaurant. The food, sadly, was nothing to write home about. It resembled something you could find at a local Carrefour, and there was nothing special about it. This place does not deserve to be called a restaurant; 'trash' seems like a more fitting description."

Yelp
This is my first google review- would never care to complain about a place but this restaurant was one of the worst i've ever experienced in terms of quality, food, and service. I feel compelled to say something to help others avoid our mistake. We excitedly came to this spot after multiple friends recommended it. We began with apps which were great and anticipated our meal to be equally delicious. For our main course we ordered the truffle risotto & the steak for 2. I served myself a portion of the risotto and dug right in. Out of no where I feel a sharp pain in my back tooth- quickly i realized i had something sharp in my mouth...... it was a BLACK SCREW- literally should be in a tool box. I quickly spit it out and tried getting our waiters attention. After 10 minutes pass someone finally looks in our direction. He was extremely apologetic & kind. We would've expected the manager to come over to apologize and smooth things over. Instead we get two free desserts which ended up being frozen solid and truly inedible. We still ended paying around 200 euros for a meal with a screw. Horrible meal, horrible service- could not recommend less. Truly do not waste your time or money. There are tons of hidden gems in the area- this is an easy skip.

Yelp
Cozy spot near the seine. We stopped for some espresso and a snack, got the frites with truffles but it was not good truffles, it was more just hearty mushrooms in my opinion, didn't have that truffle flavor. That being said, they were delicious!

Yelp
MOUSE IN THE HOUSE OF JULIEN Wife and I traveled to Paris in October 2023. We tried for a walk in reservation on a Saturday night but there was no availability, we thought that was a good sign. We made a reservation for the following night and were seated in the veranda. The Le Francais cocktail was excellent, the escargot was the best part of the night. We also had the crab dish - there were crab shells in the dish and the dish had no flavor. We ordered the roasted chicken for two. It's shown to you before it's cut and then brought out with potatoes. As we were eating the bland and dry chicken, a mouse crawled along the window sill in the veranda next to our table and jumped on me. It was our fourth day in Paris and we had yet to see any mice or rats at any restaurant or alleyway. I told the server what had happened and she laughed saying that happens all the time. I couldn't eat anything after that, I lost my appetite and my night was ruined. I was expecting some courtesy and some compensation when the check arrived. NOTHING. I had to tell the server that we deserved some compensation for our troubles and for the fact that we left the majority of our chicken because of our disgust. The Maître d'hôtel walked over and said the mice were normal. I didn't care. We only had our cocktails comped. This is an embarrassing way to treat customers. There are hundreds of restaurants. Stay away as the mice and dry chicken are not worth it at Chez Julien.

Yelp
Our service was amazing! The food was fresh and delicious! Reservations are recommended. 5/5 stars!

Yelp
Ok let me just start off with the non-existent service that occurred, not only to myself, but the whole rapidly growing space and the one lone woman who hadn't seen service is ages. Ok let's start there, they were accommodating to my dogs joining me, but less hospitable than other restaurants, seeing them more of a task than a joy, bad vibes you know? (In paris they largely love dogs and they're allowed everywhere with some very rare exceptions). So see this woman to the left of me like she's, French, and she's patiently waiting, but yet I can sense a bit of wtf. So time goes by, too much time.... No service comes for forever until I got up and needed to speak to the manager. The manager slowly came over after what the hostess seemed to almost taking personal calls during work. He says "is everything alright", to which I responded, "absolutely not" and basically how I explained how our section hadn't been helped and than I pointed to all the people, as the original woman who was sitting there grinning ear to ear lol. I was highly disappointed at this point, I don't really care about me in these situations, I know how to get good service on my own, thanks Dad!! But for the other people I pulled out one of my oldest lines to get a restaurant in shape or at least service, "Michelin, sent me here, now what can we do about this situation?" Or Gazat in the states either worked depending on importance lol. There's no way to verify it either and as Shakespeare once said, "we all are actors and the world is a stage", so I feel no guilt driving this restaurant just because it's what should have happened. The sections issues disappeared after my comment of course. The food was at best average but very expensive for average, the steak was in blue which is bloody when I wanted it medium rare and I found the truffles added absolutely nothing but price to the dish which was already subpar compared to the competition around it.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, although the en pointe steak was medium well at best. We must've looked American. Would return!

Yelp
Fabulous food and perfect service in a classic old building old fashioned in the Marais. We loved the Carré d'agneau (rack of lamb), the Chateau Briand and the Mushroom Ravioli with truffles. They specialize in truffles. Excellent wine list too. Lovely people. Don't miss this gem. The cheese platter we ordered for dessert was classic ! Five stars for sure!!!

Yelp
French food is almost a mythical thing ... you know great cuisine in Paris exists but finding it can prove to be a bit of a task in a city full of beautiful looking little cafes and restaurants which can either yield Ruby Tuesday-quality tourist slop ... or made with love French cooking. When asked where the best restaurants in the city were, our friends started by telling us, 'First of all, you never go anywhere near the Champs de Elise ...' We must have found the exception in Chez Julien because we really liked our meals there. The atmosphere here may have something to do with that. The outdoor seating section looks exactly what you'd expect to see if you were picturing fine continental dining during a more glamorous era, like the 1960's. Red carpet, white tablecloths, jasmine vines and white china with silver servers. On a beautiful day, they say this is one of the most photographed restaurants in Paris. The hostess stand is front and center and unless you have a reservation, there will likely be a 10 - 20 minute wait. Not too bad ... there is a small inside section but mostly outdoor seating. Your fellow diners will likely be wearing jeans and polo shirts during lunch service. They cater to a touristy crowd and most who walk by and see it end up fallibg in love with the ambiance and getting a table on the spur of the moment. It is a little off-putting to dine in a fancy setting along with someone who looks as though they are dressed to shop at Home Depot, but such is society today. The hosts and some waiters wear black tuxedos to someehat make up for it. We had the steak au poirve which was cooked well and served with frites. While the seasoning on the steak was bland ... no salty sear/crust and the little peppercorns it was dipped in lacked any 'bite' the sauce made up for this with its creamy texture and absolute 'French-ness'. The fries were seasoned well and served as a small portion. The house bread was good and mixed drinks were crafted carefully and meticulously although the prices were sky high for drinks and their potency was weak. I'd stick with the wine here which, like most French restaurants, comes in small glasses. Unlike the comparatively fishbowl sized goblets of red wine you find at American restaurants, you will pay dearly to get drunk at a French restaurant ... I guess the expectation is that you should be buying wine by the bottle vs. the glass. A mixed drink here sets you back $20 but its the best tasting drink I've had in a while. The waitstaff is busy, so you won't see them often but they are friendly ... even to tourists wearing outfits less fancy than the typical Parisian would wear while gardening. One interesting note ... the unisex bathrooms are upstairs connected to a sitting room which features zebra skin furniture and a table featuring a collection of vintage French porno magazines and old Playboy magazines from the 1960's. This was our favorite meal in French sitting outside on a sunny weekend day watching the people pass by and with a beautiful view of an old church in the distance.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Beautiful place, bad food and extremely over-priced. Nothing was good in this restaurant. No flavor, no nothing. Beautiful presentation, no question on that. Waiting time, EXTREMELY long.

Yelp
This was by far my favorite restaurant in Paris! The food was incredible and the customer service was out of this world. I am so impressed and grateful for such hardworking people who had waited on us. They were extremely kind and made sure we were well taken care of - every minute. The vibe was romantic and peaceful. The whole style of the restaurant was classy yet simple. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're ready to spend a couple of big bucks!

Yelp
One of the best places I ate at in France. The only con is that it is more expensive than most restaurants. But the food was soooo good. Service was normal and nothing great or horrible. Nothing we ordered tasted bad. See the pictures of all the great stuff. Pretty area and great to sit and enjoy a nice dinner. The truffle mashed were so good too that came with Dover sole. Must have the burrata!

Yelp
Very romantic restaurant for a late night date in Paris. The service was great, the ambiance was even better. My steak was cooked to perfection and the creme brûlée is some of the best I've ever had. The risotto had amazing flavor but it was a little crunch. We were the last table of the the night though so I'll cut them some slack, literally 15 min before closing. Chez Julian is highly recommended!

Yelp
This beautiful quintessential French bistro is located in a registered historical building. The food is delicious. The employees are very friendly and personable. Make sure when you book your reservations that you book for this restaurant not the other Chez Julien. Good for groups or couples.

Yelp
We made the mistake of booking Chez Julien for Christmas Eve for a party of 5. The experience was flawed from beginning to end. The venison entree served to 3 of us was inedible. Walking through the restaurant, it was clear that many people felt the same way. We could hear the adjoining table complaining to the waiter about their service and meals. For this experience we were charged 140 Euros each. Roughly, $770 USD. This sad saga began with looking for a restaurant on OpenTable that was taking reservations on Christmas Eve near Notre-Dame. We booked Chez Julien online on 12/15. Two days prior to our flights to Paris we received a call from the restaurant asking for a deposit since it was a busy occasion and promising to send us an English menu via e-mail. Having not received the menu by the 22nd I began to look at the restaurant website where I discovered a special, limited menu and the surprising 140 Euro price tag per person. At this point, realizing the menu didn't offer anything appealing to a few of our party, we asked if the standard menu was an option. When we were told no, we asked if we could cancel our reservations. The answer was not without forfeiting our 250 Euro deposit. We decided we'd simply go for this special event and enjoy the best that the restaurant had to offer. Upon entering the restaurant, we were told we were going to be seated outside, in an enclosed, heated - no smoking area - but outside. Our table which was tucked into the corner and was sloping to the point we were worried the candle would fall over and start a fire. It was cold. We laughed it off and thought, we'd keep our chin up and have fun. The champagne offered was delicious and most of us really enjoyed our appetizer. We ordered a nice bottle of wine. The service was very unresponsive to our needs. The most attention we got were multiple requests to stand up so they could access a closet behind us to adjust the patio heaters. Our water glasses repeatedly went empty. Our main courses arrived several minutes apart. After encouraging those with meals to eat, the venison dishes finally appeared. We were never asked how we wanted our venison prepared or how the meal it was. The deer was dry and mealy. I could not choke it down. This was followed a lack luster dessert, which for the 5 of us, was oddly, 3 of one item and 2 of another with no chance to choose. My wife and I attempted to express our disappointment with the management and was told no manager was there. "Look, I'm just doing this as a favor for my friend. If you come back tomorrow (Christmas) he'll be here. Would you like another glass of champagne?" At that point we just wanted to get out of there and put the experience behind us. We felt totally swindled. Certainly, the worst (and the most expensive) dining experience we had in our ten days in Paris - our anywhere for that matter.

Yelp
I am going to have to agree with Katie G's warning! DON'T pay attention to the negative reviews! As someone who loves great restaurants and great food, I can say that Chez Julien was the BEST! We went on a Friday night (we had a reservation for 8pm) and got seated at a wonderful little corner table (although there really aren't any bad tables). We were treated with a very warm and cozy welcome! Our appetizers were delicious! And the main courses were amazing, as well! We asked for a wine recommendation from the directeur that turned out to be perfect! SO, here is why I stand by my 5 Stars: We loved this place so much, we asked if there was a table available for the next night (a long shot since it was a Saturday). I was sure the answer would be "no" but instead it was "we are fully booked but I will find a table for you". Right at that moment, I cancelled our reservation for the following evening at the restaurant we were to dine at. We arrived Saturday night at 8pm and had a lovely table reserved for us. And, the restaurant was, in fact, fully booked (every table taken). The meal was just as wonderful (including the foie gras, which was not made with Vaseline as stated by Lelia K). ;) Now, to address the bad service and attitude that is mentioned in some of the previous reviews: NOT TRUE! The maitre d' was again, so welcoming and attentive and the waiter and waitress were so nice. I HIGHLY recommend Chez Julien. It's location is extremely charming, the restaurant and atmosphere is so beautiful and cozy at the same time. The service was wonderful! (and p.s. - the music was great! I want the playlist!) Chez Julien is my new MUST visit restaurant in Paris.

Yelp
Great spot for summer lunches and dinners, they have a huge outdoor patio under the sun who can makes you feel like you're somewhere else but you still have a view on Paris architecture! They are offering some lunchs discover menu, with a very attractive price for the quality they offering. The customer service is great, very attentive staff and the food is yummy and tasty. I'll say the only problem will be as always in Paris the parking !

Yelp
We loved this restaurant. Our dining experience was perfect. We started with the burrata and tomato. The seasoning was perfect! We took the ravioli and the risotto with truffle for our mains. Absolutely delicious. And to finish we had the Crème brûlée. A nice and light way to finalize the meal. Our wines were notable and the brandy spectacular. Service was adequate -- and thus the 4 versus 5 eating. However the location made up for it as the people watching was fun and sitting by the Seine was a magical way to spend an evening
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, excellent service. Seating on the patio is ideal as you have views of both the Eiffel Tower and the Flame of Liberty. While the food is delicious I do feel you are paying for the location and ambiance but without compromising quality.

Yelp
Fois gras made with Vaseline is not a typical favourite of mine, but according to the maitre'd it is the best in Paris. I only fine dine, so maybe it's better than what the tramp found in the bins over Paris? I should have asked to clarify. Chez Julien is certainly not what it used to be. 2011 and 2012 we returned there every day for their famous pink salmon. In 2014 it's more cold and over cooked than delectable. Other tables stared at their plates in bewilderment, "but it's just not, what I would say, edible!" One star for the sunshine. Minus stars for paying bill yet starving. Minus stars for bad coffee.

Yelp
Unreal last night for our group dinner in Paris. We were a group of five on a graduate school research project/drinking and smoking our way through the city and Burgundy. Every presentation was absolutely packed with flavor and uniqueness. Best chicken of my life, btw. Best. Hands down. Something special here for sure.

Yelp
In a week of dining in Paris with careful consultation of Yelp reviews, this was our only unfavorable experience. The food was good but not great and the quality of the food did not correlate with the price. Also the experience was not special and the pricing is high for less than special. I was served a cold cappuccino - it tasted like a cup of coffee was half filled with cold milk. Also everyone in the restaurant had a bread basket except us. It may be true that I don't need anymore bread but it would have been tasty for mopping up the lobster ravioli sauce!! We did not have the experience others reported of waiters explaining the French menu. I used my trusty google translate app. And did the best I could!! All in all with so many good choices in this neighborhood where the restaurant team is happy to see you, I advise not going to this restaurant unless you can read and speak French.

Yelp
This is the best meal I've had on our trip. From the decor, the upstairs "starry" room, the friendly yet informative staff, beautiful tasty food...everything was spot on. We probably sat there for 3 hours having lunch. We found this restaurant through Goop's website "Guide to Classic Paris" and so happy we came here. If I have to choose a meal anywhere in Paris, this would be it. Highly recommend it!!!!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Classic Parisian restaurant. I came here with friends for a drink and we sat outside. It was super hot out. We wanted to sit under the umbrellas but our waiter said only those who were eating dinner could sit there. Of course not a single person under the umbrellas was eating. Anyway, we had yummy Aperol spritz's. Typically expensive for Paris.
google avatar

Yelp
Rude staff. Was waiting for a friend so I ordered bottle water (small) and an espresso. When I asked for the check the bartender said 10 euro but presented no check. When I asked for a check lots of back and forth in French. Never got a check. Left 10 euro. It went elsewhere for d

Alex B.

Yelp
5 for food and ambiance. 3 stars for service which was inattentive (had empty drink glasses multiple times; had to go inside to get my check) and unconventional (at one point took my wine glass before it was empty). Outdoor seating fantastic. Make reservations.

Yelp
Franchement a nightmare . So having lived in France for 6 months and my journey there was ending. My boyfriend and I decided that he would join me in Paris for vacation. This was suppose to be our ultimate dinning experience, the cherry on top and it was oh so disappointing. Service : This petite pute greeted us with stinky face and it all went down from there. I was not comfortable at all. (I speak french and ordered everything in french so there was no language barrier. ) Food: horrible I had the foie gras and it was disgusting . Having had a tone of foie gras for christmas I was craving it so I ordered it. Total disappointment. Then I had the coquilles St.-Jacques totally blend, rubbery and totally repugnant. After spending 400 euros dinning there I felt so strong about suing my travel book author company that recommended this place. WILL NEVER GO BACK . Save yourself the trouble head to Chez Janou although you will still encounter the french attitude at least their food is delicious. PS: 0 star . The 1 star is only for review purposes

Yelp
Horrible service! For such an over prized restaurant. First they put us in a table, and after a while came back and practically shoo us out of the table without anything that resembles an apology.

Yelp
One of the worst experiences of my life, we booked the table thru our hotel for 7:00 pm two days prior, at 9:00 pm the waiter told us we had to move because they had a booking for our table at 9:00, in America we call it the bum rush, I am CEO and a member of YPO, I've been around, they seemed rude, maybe even prejudiced French! Bill was $357 Euros obviously not enough or they just hate Americans. Don't bother look at trip adviser over half the reviews are about a rude wait staff & they have at least one waiter that specializes in it!

Yelp
Five stars for a "best ... I've ever had" achievement: the peach bellini. Made with fresh peaches and quality champagne, it was one of the most refreshing cocktails I've ever had. The ambiance is a bit different than all the crowded sidewalk cafes and bistros in Paris. Many of the tables at Chez Julien are to the side of Pont Louis Philippe in a make-shift garden, which makes the dining experience more intimate and romantic. And the old-school French Playboys in the bathroom lounge were très sexy as well!

Yelp
I came here for Christmas Eve. There was a préfixe menu and it was great. They were very welcoming. They brought over two free glasses of champagne that was really good. They gave just the right amount of food. It was four courses and it did not disappoint! The inside was small but very cute and very French. Love love love.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating options. We got the perfect table for two just on the inside of large open window with views of the street. All the food seemed to be made of great quality produce. We had the ceviche and the chateaubriande and were very satisfied. Food in Paris is generally awesome but this place stood out for us.

Yelp
Q: Who did you go with? A: Fiance and 2 of her friends. Q: Did you dig it? A: Dug it. Q: Why? A: Although the food was decent, the ambiance was great. Q: Anything special? A: The French couple next to us offered the remaining half of their bottle of red! And we struck up a pretty awesome conversation. They taught us some French and we taught them some English. Very cool! Q: So it looks like you would go back, eh? A: Yea but definitely not by myself. Oh and dress nicely!

Yelp
I'm sorry, maybe we got bad meals or a bad night, but nothing we ordered was very good. The soup was bland with the walnuts overpowering the parsnips. The foie gras was bland with the chutney being the best part. The lobster ravioli wasn't just "not good" but actually tasted like the lobster had spoiled. I spit it out. As for the lamb, it was tender, but unpalatable. We left without finishing our meals just to find a different restaurant. The ambience was very nice, but this was the worst meal I ever had, not just in Paris...

Yelp
This was the best dinner we had during our entire trip to France. The wait staff was very nice and the atmosphere was excellent. The restaurant is situated in a very charming corner right on the seine with the occasional motorbike or passerby. The food, however, was the star of the experience. My whipped burrata and tomatoes was amazing and an excellent start to my meal. We ordered the truffle ravioli and the truffle risotto, which were both outstanding in their own ways. The risotto was my personal favourite, a bit heavier than the ravioli, but not too heavy. The ravioli, however, was also excellent. We finished our night with the créme brulèe which was probably the best créme brulèe I've ever tasted. Everything on the menu in the "plates" section either had truffles or had the option to add truffles, which for me, someone who loves black truffle, enjoyed very much. Will for sure come back next time I'm in Paris.

Yelp
I read the previous reviews but I was skeptical. I thought Chez Julien was a tourist trap. I was wrong!! My wife and I had a fabulous dinner. We had chateaubriand and scallops for dinner, escargot and foie gras appetizers, then finished with creme brûlée and chocolate cake. It was simply outstanding. I am now a believer.

Yelp
How could you not enjoy a lunch at Chez Julien? This is your quintessential Parisian restaurant, not terribly touristy, menus in French, and the feeling of dining in the 19th century. Choose the Salmon salad or parsnip soup to start, the beef in wine sauce plate and watch the people walking by while you sip your wine or cocktail. The pricing is a bit higher than average, but it's well worth it.

Yelp
Nice location and atmosphere. Unfortunately the food is vey disappointing. The chicken is dry and beef is well... don't order either of these. Sorry. Great service. Give it a 2 1/2.

Yelp
Chez Julien is a classic Parisian restaurant in terms of ambience, food, and atmosphere. The only negative is that it is hardly a hidden gem, and is often frequented by american tourists.

Yelp
A classic french restaurant with an excellent truffle risotto but the atmosphere is completely destroyed by the staff's choice of motown hits played at dance club volume levels.

Yelp
I went here with my family expecting a pleasant meal - the restaurant received rave reviews from a colleague. We were greeted by a very rude Maître d' who tried to sit us practically on top of another couple and refused to give us a table set for four because there were three of us. We decided to give the restaurant a chance anyway, and ended up sitting outside. When I went in to use the bathroom twenty minutes later, the table we wanted inside was still unoccupied. The service was incredibly inattentive, even by Parisian standards. Nevertheless, the gin and tonic was quite tasty. As we were seated outside, the restaurant gave us blankets to counteract the cold. We were APPALLED when our waiter tried to take a blanket away and give it to the party next door. Our waiter later came over to take our dinner order. All seemed to be alright until the waiter TURNED HIS BACK on my mother - who was ordering her plat principe at the moment - to INTERRUPT a nearby party that was discussing the salmon tartare. After about a minute, he tried to resume taking her order as if nothing had happened. We tried to make it clear to him that his behavior was not acceptable, but he didn't seem to think that treating customers with such contempt was a big deal. We asked for the check and ate dinner elsewhere.
