Google
This is an incredible find!!!!! We looked for lunch after a long morning at Versailles. The place was busy and we got lucky to be seated despite not having a reservation. The place was packed and it’s no wonder - their specialty is fire grilled meats! Their lunch express combo is amazing!!! Incredible value for excellent food and substantive portions. Warm friendly service and really really happy we came here. Their espresso was also the best we had in Paris area and rivaled great Italian espresso

The best food in Versailles + Amazing service! After a long day of visiting the palace of Versailles We were tired and hungry and not looking forward to spending an outrageous amount of money on mediocre food. However, we found this hidden gem tucked a block away from the palace, and it was incredible. The portion size are huge and perfect after a long day, of walking around. The steak and lamb were to die for. For the quality of food portion size, and excellent service the price was amazing. 35-45 euros for appetizer main course and dessert. Would recommend to anyone visiting the palace of Versailles.

Fantastic menues for lunch. Super family friendly staff and owner. Open fire grill in the restaurant. Food cooked like at home. Keep your style - we love it!

I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff speaks English and is friendly. The menu of the day is good value for money and delicious! It is a great lunch spot in the Palace of Versailles. My sons said “we want to give 100 stars to this restaurant!”

We were exhausted after touring the Chateau and gardens. Chez Lazare for the bill nicely for sustenance before we took the train back to Paris. The atmosphere was top notch!

Service time is a bit longer especially when there was a few tables getting their food before ours. The food was amazing. The starter ravioli is a great choice, steak was overcooked when I asked for medium. Be prepared to stay here for almost 2 hours to finish and receive starter, entree, and dessert

The atmosphere of this area nearby Chateau De Versailles was really delightful and cozy. A lot of French local restaurants located at the beautiful alley. This restaurant looked like a local family dinning place; although the space was quite limited but I would rather describe it as cozy and welcoming. There was also a very impressive grill bar to prepare all the grill dishes. We really enjoyed the appetizers such as grilled scallops and smoked salmon. However, we found the steak too dry and chewy. Another main course of mussels was great and huge in size. We were kinda hurry to catch the train back to town so didn’t get the chance to taste the dessert Staffs were very helpful and friendly

Yelp
Chez Lazare is conveniently located on Rue Satory which is a close walk to the main entrance of the Versailles Palace. Thankfully it was opened in this sleepy town during August, prime European vacation month. Plat Du Jour (Lunch) In ordinary french fashion, there is a "plat du jour" special for lunch that includes a main dish (selection out of three options) and dessert (selection out of two options) for about 13 Euro. When I was there, the options for main dish included a vegetarian option, pork chops with apple glaze, and salmon lasagna. The pork chops were very well done although the portions were rather small (only one small pork chop). Dinner: The dinner menu offers you combination deals of appetizer and dessert, main dish and dessert, and appetizer, main dish, and dessert (prices averaged to around 20 Euro). The portions are slightly larger than what you will receive at lunch. You can also order the main dish separately for 15 Euros and includes a side of your choosing (grilled vegetables, fries, baked potato, salad). I ordered the lamb chops which was extremely flavorful (recommended to me by the waitress). Our neighbor's order of moules (mussels) looked excellent and the portions were generous. Chez Lazare is not to be missed during your trip to Versailles! Like at all restaurants in Europe, if you arrive at American dinner time, there will be no waiting whatsoever. Plus for us! Just don't arrive at Fei dinner time or else the restaurant will be closed (6:00 PM or 6:30 PM). :(

Yelp
After touring the Palace of Versailles, I stopped by here and had a great time! We ordered the mussels and fries special (only 12 Euros!!) which was delicious -- the garlic and wine sauce really amped up the mussels. I also got a salad that came with gizzards and foie gras. Holy moly this was so good, the portion was huge and the gizzards and foie gras were piled on! I'd never had this combination on a salad before and my life is changed! The service was pretty friendly too.

Yelp
Really good ravioli, but then I waited a long time to even get a entree. I think it was because i am American and don't know to much French It's sad because the food I did GET to try was really good but it's a shame I had to wait 45 min for my next course

Yelp
Serves average French food for moderate prices. Last time I was there, I saw a mouse running around. Haven't been back since.

Yelp
We've come to France for many years and I speak French. This had to rank as one of the most disappointing eating experiences ever. The meals (for 6) were universally sub-par. The waiter (who was the manager, was brusque and had no time for us. The lettuce for the salads had to be days old. The chicken was dry and tough. The salmon was, like the chicken, disappointing and without moisture or flavor. I could go on, but this restaurant really doesn't deserve further comment, except to say you should avoid it.

Yelp
Want to pass the pearly gates interested Heaven? 1. Ravioli, 2. Grilled salmon. 3. Crem Brûlée!

Yelp
Went to Chez Lazarre last night. Food was good - they had a variety of things for vegetarians, too. Anything with mozzarella cheese on it was awesome - had the salade primavera and was really, really happy with the freshness and the flavors. My companions agreed that the freshness was excellent. Classic French flavors! The service, on the other hand, was a little... Difficult. We went through a number of waiter/waitress changes, one of whom even said goodbye as she left for the evening. The kitchen was closing toward the later part of our meal, which slowed the service down considerably. I would recommend going a wee bit earlier in the evening!

Yelp
The place is packed but we managed to get a table after 15 minutes of waiting. Service was great; prompt and friendly. Special mention of their brioche French toast pudding- it was delicious.

Yelp
First, I was a bit sceptical because the restaurant is quite close to the palace. I really didn't want to end up in a typical touristy place as you might expect in a location like this. But I ended up loving this place.. All meat is grilled on a big charcoal fireplace right next to the tables, so you can see (and smell) your dish while it is prepared. The grill really leaves a nice smoky flavour which gives the food the "special something". For desert the fried brioche slices topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel is just a dream... French cooking doesn't get much better than that (as far as I know). On top of that the whole staff seemed to be nice and super friendly.

Yelp
Whenever I travel abroad, I make it a point to get away from the 'touristy" areas. I was in Paris for several days and decided to go to Versailles for a few days. I happened to stop at a local cafe and asked for a recommendation for dinner. The Chez Lazare was it....and I must say that it was AMAZING!!! I showed up at 7:30pm...prime time if you want to beat the crowd and was promptly seated. I gave them my best French but they quickly realized that I was struggling. They switched to English and were extremely helpful. I ordered the salmon with butter sauce which is a MUST. Some wine and I was in heaven. For dessert I ordered the Briochet with creme glacé and had it not been for the fact that I was busting at the seams, I would have ordered another one. Absolutely one of the BEST places to eat in Versailles.

Yelp
Warning! Some previous reviews are mistaken! Vegetarians not welcome! This review is not about the quality of the food, we could not taste it. Based on some Yelp reviews I was hoping to have dinner there with my vegetarian husband. Once there unfortunately, nothing on the menu was vegetarian. I still decided to ask the waiter, who told me they had nothing vegetarian, except if my husband was willing to eat only the side vegetables that usually come with meat or fish. He was polite enough, but I am just so tired of French waiters looking at me like I'm asking if they can sprinkle gold on their meat when I ask if they have at least ONE vegetarian dish on the menu (or at least if they can come up with something). Fortunately the Italian restaurant next door is great and has plenty of vegetarian options.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. A disinterested waitress made us wait for over 30 minutes and then told us we didn't tell her we were waiting (errrr what?) . Would never happen in the US. I left because I would never tolerate such service the US and I don't beg ppl to take my money. Went to Le Limousine up the street where the servers were friendly and looked like they wanted to do their jobs and looked more professional.

Yelp
The environment is friendly, the staff friendly and the menu reasonable. Good dish as well, even if one time the meat was a bit nervous.

Kori L.

Yelp
I got a cream-based pizza, and my friend got the carbonara. This is my third week in my travel through Italy, Germany and France and that pasta has not been beaten. It was great! And the pizza was superb as well. I'm not a huge coffee fan but the cream in the tiramisu has also topped my food charts for Europe! I will say they are not as friendly to English speakers. Just because the table beside us spoke French and they got their drinks, appetizer, and salads before our water even got to our table. But really a nice place to eat.

Yelp
My wife and I randomly found this place. The service was great the prices were great the portions were great and the food was excellent. Next time we're in Versailles we will definitely come back. Plus the ambiance on the little street just topped it off. Despite its location it did not feel touristy at all.

Yelp
They win. Hands down the best meal we had in France. Ravioli was elected the best appetizer although we all enjoyed the other selections for the table. Beef Bourginione was fabulous and the ribeye was very good. But let's not waste too much time on the entrees because the stars of the performance were the deserts. Whomever they have buried in the kitchen is certainly the Iron Pastry Chef of Versailles. The profiteroles were life changing and the apple tart would have convinced my wife to leave me had the pastry chef introduced him/herself. A version of bread pudding that more resembled french toast was a crowd pleaser and the chocolate cake was amazing. Michelin would implement a fourth star to be awarded for the desserts alone. Must go!

Yelp
Good ambience. But was not the best. The steak was very chewy, the salad was lack- luster and the dessert was not what I expected based on previous reviews. A lot better restaurants in Versailles than this!

Ani S.

Yelp
Friendly service but food was just ok. Steak was chewy. Salad was ok. The best thing we had was the veal blanquette and the escargot.

Colvin G.

Yelp
Having eaten at several places in and around Paris, our group agreed the Chez Lazere offered the best value. We went for lunch following a visit to Versailles. The portions were large and well seasoned. The meats (duck and lamb chops) were cooked to the temperatures we requested -- a rarity since we've been in France -- and were accompanied by large creative appetizers (duck and foie gras). The service was attentive and the decor cheerful. We would return.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing. I got a salad that came with grilled cheese, and drizzled honey, followed by the best stake I have ever had in my life. My girlfriend felt the same way about her food. There were vegetarian options on the menu (for the cheeky fellow below) but honestly, if you want go vegetarian food, don't go to a french restaurant... I found this restaurant to be incredibly romantic not only for me but also the many other couples who were there, of all ages, most of whom were locals, which was quite interesting. Overall, if I could pick out the best food of my time in France, it would be at this restaurant. I recommend sitting at the back near the grill, because the smell is amazing and it's fun to see how they cook. Also a note on waiters: waiters in French are not as customer oriented as they are in the US. There is usually one or two waiters for the whole restaurant, so if you are expecting to be doted upon like in the US, go out to eat in another country...
