Chez Mag, La Fine Cantine

Amazing experience! We had a girls trip to Nothern Quebec. We stopped in at this cute little place based off the reviews & menu. Let me tell you we weren’t disappointed! The lineup was unreal, clearly a hot spot. But we didn’t end up waiting long & they spoke some English which was a blessing. They did have one mixup on our meal, they forgot to add the Montreal smoked meat, but that was just miss communication. They quickly cleared that up & added the meat on the poutine no questions asked. Everything else turned out great! Our food was served hot & absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh, homemade & authentic! Deff will be coming back 😍

We came here on Saturday morning (11AM)— ordered: Lobster Poutine, King Kus Poutine, Chef’s Special Poutine, hotdogs and cheeseburgers. We waited about 20 minutes on line. And we got our orders within 5-10 minutes. We sat outside in one of their benches with umbrellas so it wasn’t so bad— there is no indoor seating so I guess if it’s raining, you’ll have to eat in your car. We really enjoyed our orders, and the highlight was actually the chefs choice poutine, it was with mushroom and truffle oil which was surprisingly good! Will definitely come back and order the bigger portion of the lobster poutine though, you’re really getting your money’s worth— I think we had almost a full size lobster on top of our order and it was very worth it! We parked behind the Sainte-Famille Salle Paroissal which is a 5-minute walk to the poutine, which isn’t so bad at all! There are no washrooms on site but there is a public washroom in the MRC de l’Île d’Orleans. Make sure you hold your little ones on your way to the poutine place because there’s not really a side-walk and the distance between the car and the pathway to go to Chez Mag is very narrow and near the street where lots of cars are passing. Anyways, we enjoyed it here! And will happily deal with the traffic to come back! 😊

The best poutine I’ve ever had! The fries were fresh and crispy, and I tried the smoked meat poutine — absolutely loved it. The location is stunning, set in one of the most beautiful spots on the island. It can get quite busy, but the wait is short, and the view makes it totally worth it. A perfect place to enjoy great food with a great atmosphere!

So i have seen this place online last summer and been wanting to come here for so long. It was worth it and it did not disappoint. I luckily came here before they close around 2:30pm and it was also their last day for the season. There were no lines when i came and the service was actually pretty quick. I ordered the lobster rolls with poutine and fun-ion rings. Lobster rolls was so good, i have to disagree with some reviews that says its a bit unseasoned because I really love that you can savor the actual taste of the lobster itself. I haven’t tried the onion rings because my boyfriend finished it immediately. The staff were also nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

The best non-traditional poutine in Québec. The lobster was fresh, plentiful, chewy, and just sweet enough. Overtop, the butter-gravy hybrid sauce goes surprisingly well with the lobster, like a more savoury lobster butter with a hint of brine. Lastly, the fries take a backseat but are still well-done as far as texture and taste. Despite the line and blazing sun, Chez Mag is well-worth the short road trip from Quebec City.

Great poutine with smoked meat and sausage. The lobster roll was also good. The lobster poutine didn't do it for me but still worth the drive if you're visiting Quebec City.

The lobster Poutine was delicious! Lobster was perfectly cooked to tenderness, the cheese curds were plentiful and the sauce was a perfect match in flavor. Highly recommended!

Chez Mag brings cantines to a whole new level. Our go-to place for Lobster rolls. Their lobster rolls are great and generous. The fries are nice and crunchy the way I like them. Their lobster poutine is also decadent. The first time we went we replaced the fries from our lobster roll with a lobster poutine. It was quite a feast, which was made us wanting to come back again... Definitely worth checking it out when you're in Quebec City or Îles d'Orleans. If you haven't been, your missing out! You'll thank me later ;-)

If you're looking for some great pouting with a view - I'd recommend looking no further

Our first poutine while vacationing in Quebec and it was amazing! I had the classic and my Bostonian husband had the lobster poutine. Both were wonderful!

Cute little shack on the Ile d'Orleans. It is a small little shack for takeout along the road with only picnic tables to sit and eat. We ordered the lobster roll which came with fries. It was one of the best lobster rolls that I have had. The lobster pieces were very meaty and the mix of mayo, mustard sauces that they used worked perfectly without overpowering the freshness of the lobster. They make each one fresh so there is a bit of a wait but worth it. A must try.

This place is 4.5/5 - so close to a 5. This is a tiny shack being run by 3 people - two whom are cooking/plating and one lady (who I think is the owner) running the front. There is almost always a line up and for pretty good reason - delicious and affordable food. Service was great. Yes, there was a line but that's because everything is being made fresh on the spot. The lady who took our order was very nice but efficient given the line up. Food takes a little time but as I said, it's because they're making things fresh. Don't be put off when the lady closes the screen door before talking to you because she's trying to get the orders right. Lobster roll with fries was fantastic. The lobster was tasty, comes in a sesame toasted bun with greens and green onion in a mayo sauce. Super tasty! The fries are fresh cut fries - above average but nothing mind-blowing. Lemon mayo is tasty and pairs well with the fries. Had a pretty large amount of lobster but still pretty expensive at $22. I thought it was worth it but others may disagree. The hot dog was a bit of a letdown. It was one of those hot dogs you can buy at the grocery stores - I don't think it was even grilled just heated up? It's definitely not a sausage. The coleslaw was okay, it's the vinegar kind but diced up. Mustard seemed like regular yellow mustard. This was all in a piece of toast (appreciate that it was toasted though). At the price, I guess that's what I should have expected - still kind of a letdown. Lots of picnic benches behind their snack bar for seating. Parking can be hard to find in the immediate area when it's busy, try parking further away or some of the small roads in the area. Overall, this is a great place to stop by to have lunch. Their regular items are probably nothing amazing but are affordable. Their specials are what you should really be trying but just know it will cost you more.

Ok, so other reviewers just set expectations too high. Perfectly fine lobster roll (not as solid as mane places in Rhode Island). Fries quite nice, burgers solid. Worthy of four stars.

Chez Meg is fantastic. A cute little roadside stand with a sense of humor. The jupete burger was amazing. Well cooked, a thin but of crispy fried cheese and fried onions on top. The bun was pressed grilled to make it perfectly crispy. The Poutine was also very good. Some of the best on the island. Only downside is the parking, but if you can't find a spot, there's public parking a 2 minute walk away. My favorite thing was the package of pasta "straws" for the drinks. Very novel, biodegradable, and probably better for the environment than even paper ones. For a roadside stand, perfect. 5 stars!

One of freshest and best lobster rolls I've ever had...including many in Maine. The poutine classique was also excellent. And the woman who took our order could not have been kinder and sweeter. All in all c'est magnifique!

Amazing Lobster Roll w/ fries. The lemon mayonnaise is delicious and the people there are incredibly kind and caring. Would return 100% next time in Quebec.
