Chez Meung

Mines frites (fried noodles) and Mines Bouillies (boiled noodles with broth) are Mauritian specialties. I’ve had them at many places in Mauritius and Chez Meung is by far my favorite - not only are they always delicious, but the service and atmosphere is fantastic - the portions are big and the price is fair. The owner is super friendly, trilingual, and serves each person individually. I usually get a beef mines frites with a few “bullets” (dumplings or meat balls) - the shiu mai vegetable are my favorite, but they’re all good! They have a variety of toppings (beef, lamb, seafood, chicken, octopus (orite) - even deer meat (cerf). All are good! You can get a fried egg on top, veggie greens and a tomato salsa! Don’t forget to add the chili if you like it spicy! The prices are super affordable (when I get a large mines frites I usually take half home for a second meal! It’s big and filling!). And I love the atmosphere - eating in Meung’s yard! A few caveats, the line can be long at lunchtime - and he’s not always open - check his profile on Instagram for updates or call to make sure. Parking can be tight. Enjoy!

There is nothing like it in Mauritius! Fried noodles are the best on the island by far - they are their own category. Nothing comes close. Addictive!

My go to local for min bwi and boulette during my stay in Cannonier, owner is very friendly and food was always fresh and tasty. 😁

We come here every time we are in Mauritius and never regret it, even back when they were in Troux Aux Biches. Incredibly welcoming staff and always so happy. Would recommend this place to anyone 100 times over.

Happy Sunday!❤️ One of my favorite place to eat Mine Bouille!♥️ Food wise: 9/10 You have a large variety of curries like chicken, beef, crevette, seafood, saumom, lamb and many more for your boiled noodles (Mine Bouille) accompanied with salsa “Satini Pomme Damour", Queue de l’ail sauté, fried eggs or Roti Egg and lot more. It takes delicious, ensure to add a little of the broth "bouillon” to avoid sogginess! Dont forget the chilli for some spice!🔥 Service wise: 10/10 I love the fact that the owner is always smiling and attentive to each clients and suggest them what to add for the orders. Plus point for that!💯 Atmosphere wise: The garden view is very cosy and chill. There are a lot of bonsai in there, you’ll love it! It’s really nice there! I highly recommend Chez Meung for your Mine Bouille stop!💯💯

🍜 very good place for noodles and boulettes. Each bowl is prepared in front of you so it's fresh and you can add or select what you want to include. A great choice of boulettes, we tried a bunch of different ones. The cheese is recommended but all were good. At lunch time there was a queue but it was normal. There is a seating area with shade so even if it's hot you can eat there. Parking can be tricky but just park in the street as it is a residential area. Recommend this place if you are in the north.
