I recently celebrated my daughter’s birthday with my sister at the truly amazing restaurant, and I’m still thinking about the experience! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how unique and beautiful the building was — it’s truly a hidden gem with stunning architecture. Inside, the atmosphere was cozy, cute, and instantly welcoming. The food? Absolutely to die for. Every single bite was packed with the perfect balance of spice and flavor. We indulged in the Creole Sampler, Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pasta with Shrimp, and the Pasta Chez Olga with Chicken — and every dish was outstanding. To finish, we shared the heavenly Creole Cheesecake, which was the best dessert I’ve had in a long time. I also tried their refreshing papaya passionfruit juice, and wow — it was the perfect complement to the meal. This was my first time trying Jamaican/Haitian and Caribbean cuisine, and I was beyond impressed. You can immediately tell that everything is cooked fresh and from scratch, with incredible attention to flavor and detail. The portions were generous, and every bite was like a little taste of heaven. To top it all off, the owner and cook personally stopped by our table to greet us with the warmest, most beautiful smile — it made the experience even more special. If you’re craving authentic, freshly prepared Caribbean food that’s well worth the wait, Chez Olga is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back!

Stopped by for dinner last night. I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant out but wasn’t sure if we would like their food. Let me tell you that this is one if the best meals we have had in a while. It’s not often that you find a place that has homemade delicious food. It was a full house yesterday from the moment we sat down until we left not an empty table. There is a bit of a wait on the food but once you get it you will not be disappointed. I recommend you go when you are hungry and not in a rush. The portions are also plenty for two people. We ordered the Jerk chicken and shrimp gumbo substituted the rice on the gumbo shrimp for fried rice. We shared both of these meals and still had lots of left overs. Everything was absolutely delicious. The owner is so sweet. We will definitely make this one of our to go spots when we are craving a delicious Caribbean meal. Recommend this hidden gem. You will not be disappointed. I almost forgot to mention that we had their coconut cheesecake it was delicious 🥰

Located in “East Town” (on the southeast side of Grand Rapids), you’ll get to see the old town brick roads and a super unique building that houses a cozy and quaint spot to try some authentic Caribbean food. Be prepared for some heat (level 0-5 but it’s a little spicier than you may expect). Party tried the fried plantains to start (they had a great outer crunch and soft, pillowy inside) and is served with a spicy coleslaw to balance the sweetness of the plantain. Then we tried the jerk chicken and the Chez Olga Pasta with chicken. Everything has so much flavor and the portion sizes are worth every penny. Service was good and they do sell cans of soda (Coke products). Check it out if you’re in the Grand Rapids area.

They are not greedy for serving you great portion of the jerk chicken with 3 big pieces of dark meat, plenty of jerk curry and rice blended with black beans and sauce. Even I regarded my spicy acceptance is quite high, I still sweat for their level 3 lol, but it’s necessary to get it hot enough. They are a family owned business so they don’t have a lot of servers at the lunch hour, so plan your order ahead would help. Definitely would come again!

One of the best meals I've had in a while. Perfect spice, flavor, and atmosphere. The owner/cook is so so sweet and funny and obviously a killer chef. We got the beef and chicken pate as well as the jerk chicken. I cannot recommend these dishes enough. The chicken was crisp and juicy with the perfect amount of heat and flavor with delicious beans and rice. The pate came with a tangy strawberry sauce that really perfected an already tasty dish. This place is definitely a classic for a reason.

Great place. Home-style cooking. Large portions. Had the fried plantains that are always delicious and the spicy slaw is killer, along with the jerk chicken which was so incredibly flavorful. Great friendly service... a bit slow bc of how full it got quickly on a Saturday for lunch but hard to be helped when you're a delightful, family-run place in Eastown.

I ordered the Jerk Chicken with a 0-5 for hotness I asked for 16. It is indeed very hot but still retains all the flavor of the mild. Portions are Massive.

This place is fantastic and the food is incredible and not too pricey for the quality. I mean really incredible food. I LOVE the curry goat. However, you do need to have adequate expectations when dining here. First off, if it's busy, it's HOT. You will probably perspire a little, especially in the hot summer. I would assume winter would be much better but I haven't been in that season yet, just during the summer. Second, the building has been split into two businesses where it used to be one dining location from what I understand, so it is not particularly large for a drop-in with a large group. However, the first time I visited the dining room was reserved for a large event so they absolutely can accommodate large groups with advance notice (please don't call the day of, give them at least a couple of days notice if not a couple of weeks 🙏) I don't think they were even accepting dine-ins at that time so they really do prioritize the event when reserved. I was still able to get takeout but it took a while for the staff to notice me. Honestly it wasn't the individual's fault, the kitchen area where most of the staff spend most of their time does not have a great view of the dining room, and you are expected to walk up to the door/counter thing and flag them down. That wasn't super clear when I first came here so it took me a couple of minutes of waiting until I realized I had to make the first move. My only suggestion to the owner is maybe put a sign by the door encouraging customers to approach the kitchen counter if they don't see staff for a while. Most people would probably be annoyed by that but honestly some kitchens have that vibe and they can still deliver a great experience so I don't care at all. But if you're reading this, don't go there and make a fuss if they don't greet you and hold your hand through the experience. Don't be afraid to get a hold of someone. Other than that, this place will make a lot of people very happy. The staff are really friendly and talented and the recipes are excellent and the wait times usually aren't too bad (although I did get a 45 min take-out time estimate today when I visited because I was there at 7pm on a Friday, so obviously any restaurant is going to have a long wait time for takeouts at that time). I can't stress enough how good the food is, and that's what really matters. The building is also really cool, it's hard to miss when passing by, it's very unique and the atmosphere is very pleasant and kind of fancy but also very homey at the same time. It's a very unique vibe I've never encountered anywhere else. But dang man, the food is what really makes this a 5 star spot. Eat here, it's worth it.
