Ambiance - Very traditional 3rd generation French restaurant. Eclectic interior decoration with old kitchen ware. A lot of French charm. Service - was fast, courteous and efficient. We had lunch and dining room was run by the son. Dad was managing the kitchen. Food - I believe they only offer 3 course menu. You have a choice of 3 different dishes for appetiser, plat and dessert. Food was of high quality, home cook style and very delicious. You can taste the quality of the ingredient and also the skill of the chef. Conclusion - We will definitely be back to the restaurant. We were told by the local that they change their menu every 2 weeks.

The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet alley in Old Nice. They do a 3 course menu for €22, there weren’t any á la Carte options (we didn’t ask). The food is traditional French and were absolutely delicious. The restaurant is tiny with 10 tables and the server was serving 20 people when we were there! And he remained friendly and smiley throughout our time there. He took the time to explain to us the dish in English. 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone!

Google
A small but charming family restaurant. They offer a 3 courses set menu of 22 euro. I ordered Pot-au-feu terrine, a steak and a desert of chocolate with ice cream. Everything is perfect and tasty. The vibe there is super authentic as well, which is not that “tourism” style. The place has only limited seats so better book in advance! Strongly recommend!!

One of our favourite places for real food and good value. We love the friendly and unpretentious atmosphere! We'll be back soon.

I had fantastic lunch at Chez Palmyre! It was suggested by a friend that knows very well the old town of Nice, and it was everything you’d want in a small typical restaurant: a short and simple menu, fresh and tasty ingredients, and obviously delicious food! The waiter was amazingly nice and the lovely owner came to have a chat with us. I can’t recommend this place enough. Just make sure you book a table.

Google
Good value set menu. 22€ for 3 courses. Would recommend booking in advance. We didn’t and went opening and was asked to sit outside which was still atmospheric. There was only one server looking after all the tables which was quite chaotic. However, this did not limit our experience. The food was excellent, and there was a good choice on the set menu. Portion sizes were generous. Would particular recommend the tuna steak as this was cooked well and not dry.

Google
Quaint, local restaurant in Nice which serves a seasonal menu in a cosy setting. You MUST make a reservation as the restaurant is small and always busy, but it is so worth it. It is a 3 course menu for €22 euros with each dish being spectacular and home-made. It is “cosy” dining and you sit next to strangers, which we found nice as you get to meet new people. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic meal.

We sat outside which was perfect even though it was drizzly day under the umbrellas. Ratatouille, pork & rabbit .. fromage fraise & blackberries for desert. Delicious.

Yelp
Sincerely this was the best meal of our trip. It's a delightfully small restaurant with three guys who are huuuustling! One in back cooking, one making drinks/ washing dishes and the third serving- very impressive! Food wise, whatever the special is just get that. We had a whole fish with a rice that was flavored with cloves. It's not something I would think to order but when on vacation why not try the regional fare? By far one of our most favorite meals of our trip. Arrive when they open to get a table. They seem like they do 1-2 services a night but if you want to make a evening of it and sit street side you'll need to arrive around when they open.

Yelp
I really want to love this place: it has such an intimate feel and just screams Nice. But I've been here a few times and each time the food has been between OK and good, but nothing particularly memorable. With that said, at €20 this is excellent value for money. Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.

Yelp
Excellent daily menu lunch. Not so traditional as it is just innovative with French style. The speck with beans was excellent. The veal stew was a winner. Service is friendly and speaks English. There is an English menu. Quite a few communal tables so you may sit with others.

Sergio T.

Yelp
gazpacho was excellent; tuna fish as well and the location in the old nice is amazing It is like eating in the family traditional plates coked with love

Yelp
Try their daily menu. Authentic French meal and 20 Euro for a three course meal. Small place so be prepared to wait a bit. Amazing food and great service. I had Cod on mashed potatoe with a light avocado sauce. I cannot explain it. The vid was cooked perfectly. The flakes would come apart easy without breaking. The sauce was out of this world. I cannot even call the mashed potato with that name. My wife had the traditional beef stew. Fabulous. The lemon cheesecake light. Cannot recommend this place enough

Yelp
Very cozy lunch/dinner spot. Only 28 seats, so make sure you get a reservation well in advance. Food was amazing, it's a rotating set menu. 20€/person for a 3 course meal. EXCELLENT VALUE!!!! We ate plenty, and the service was delightful. We felt very welcomed even though our ability to speak French is terrible. Absolutely loved it and would gladly recommend. Wine list was also very reasonable and had a selection to accommodate a wide array of tastes.

Yelp
This place is a MUST VISIT WHEN IN NICE! We stayed in an air bnb right on top of this place and thought we would take a chance with no booking! The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming and were happy to squeeze us in for a 9:30 dinner. Famous for its €18 3 course sittings and impeccable quality, Chez Palmyre does not disappoint. We mmmm'd and ahhh'd through our three courses and we're lucky enough to be taught some French slang! We had the artichoke terrine, pork muzzle, beef cheeks (daily special), fish and peach salad. If I could, I would go back here every day - the ultimate Nice experience for foodies!

Yelp
This place is insanely good. Hard to get reservations, but worth the wait. It's a small place and the food is superb. Make a point to stop here.

Yelp
Definitely one of my top choice out of all the restaurants that I've been so far in France. I was extremely surprised at how fast the service was first of all. Better to make reservation before hand otherwise you might not get a table before it closes. It's a very casual and homey space. The decoration in the restaurant is full of local spirit. Wooden benches where you are meant to share with other guests, white and red plaid napkins, cream white pitcher. The menu consists of appetizers, main course then dessert for under 20 euro. Appetizer was vinaigrette de poireaux et ses copeaux de foie gras. Slices of foie gras on top of arugula and what seems to be frozen, sour leek? I had alouette sans tete as main course. Headless something? To my discovery, alouette is lark and not a type of fish. The flavour was strong, tangy and that probably masked the meaty taste of lark. I had never had lark before but I know I never had pleasant time with any poultry other than chicken because of the gamy, meaty flavour. But this dish was well done due to the strong taste and the meat was very tender. I think it was tenderized and stuffed. Dessert is chocolate Creme brûlée. Needless to say, it was very delightful. There are also some history behind the restaurant, not very certain but I believe it is one of the oldest in old town Nice? Being centrally located in old town, we had a nice walk around the little shops in old town after the meal.

Isabelle L.

Yelp
This is a tiny place located in the old part of Nice. Open for lunch and dinner, reservations are a must or you will be turned away as there is only a limited number of tables. The food is fresh and truly French family style. The choices are one prix fixed menu at 15 euros per person that lets you try out local delicacies. The decor makes you think you are eating in your Grandma's kitchen. The quality of the food is worth the hassle of making reservations a few days in advance. Locals keep on coming back: a good sign.

Yelp
Easily one of the best French meals I have ever had. Looking for an intimate restaurant with amazing comfort food and affordable prices? This is where you should be. 3 course meal plus a carafe of house wine and an expresso 30€. Be sure to make reservations because this little jewel is small in size. Walking in is like walking into grandma's home. Its comfortable, warm and inviting. You will be seated either in a small booth or at a communal table with other patrons so you get to meet new people or stare at the scrumptious dishes they are feasting on. My favorite dish was the potato salad with duck. I never had potato salad without mayo and this was fantastic. The service was good...quick and to the point. I love this place!!!

Harry M.

Yelp
Family feel, delicious food and fun staff. It is the only restaurant in Nice we went two nights in a row. Just as good day two as first night!

Houman D.

Yelp
A Vieux Nice institution! Menu changes daily and is written on the board. Classics like veal cheeks etc. a must visit

Corey N.

Yelp
We lucked out and were able to get seated at this beauty. Very cozy ambiance, reasonably priced, and hands down the best stew I've had.

Evelyn P.

Yelp
The best food we have had while in France. The set menu is a lot of fun and had great variety. My husband got the osso bucco which is one of the best things I have ever eaten. It literally melts in your mouth. The chocolate crime brûlée is divine.

Doug W.

Yelp
Incredibly quaint. Incredibly French. Incredible experience. We were very lucky to grab the last two seats for lunch (there are set seating times so check ahead, don't just show up). Sitting at a tiny table in a narrow alley between two other couples, we marveled at the food...every bite a treat. This little restaurant is a treasure. For me, I will forever think of it as the soul of Nice.

Veronica T.

Yelp
This place was AMAZING. They have a pre fixe menu with a couple choices but everything we tried was AMAZING. They buy their ingredients fresh every day from the local market and they're only open very short hours so be sure to make a reservation. The restaurant only holds 26 and they let you in at 7:30 and you have to be out by 9:30. We would totally go again!!

Mart V.

Yelp
We where expecting a lot more, but the menu was very limited and nothing really for kids. Was a little disappointment for us.

Claire L.

Yelp
Arrived without a reservation at 9:15 pm on a Friday and was lucky to snag a table for two. The locals who shared our table said a reservation was required six weeks in advance. This place is completely charming. The pre-fixe menu (17€/pp which includes a starter, entree, and dessert), and is written on the wall and rotates every two weeks. But the thing that makes this restaurant stick in my mind is the way it takes you back in time like a Wes Anderson film. Everything here seems exactly where it's supposed to be. That, of course, includes you.

Hae A.

Yelp
17 Euros for a 3 course lunch. Enuf said. Jk. I didn't understand that I was supposed to choose one starter, main and a dessert. So I ordered 3 starters for myself and my hubby. The waiter looked a little startled but maintained his composure and placed my order. The lentils with mussels was amazing. I am not a fan of lentils, but Chez Palmyre's lentils were amazing. They were probably Puy lentils. The mussels were fresh. It was my favorite thing on the menu. The croque monsier was good as well, but not special. Veggie soup (soup du jur) was decent. It was a little bland, we should have salted but didn't. Our error. Veal main dish was good. Again it could have used a little salt but I didn't salt. Our error again. Hubby ordered the gnocchi. Don't worry I gave him grief for this lack of judgement. He said he didn't want any meat. Whatevers. It was not good, it was not bad. I've had worse gnocchi. We skipped dessert because we were stuffed. Looked at the bill and was amazed at the quality that we got for the price. Even though I didn't love more than half my dishes, for the price, it can't be beat.

Yelp
What a great restaurant in Vieux Nice. 3 course - 18 euros without wine. Best meal we have had in Nice Onion tarte. Swordfish with tomatoes olives / peach Pam a cotta. Absolutely wonderful!! You need to make reservations weeks ahead , and this was beginning of October.

Nathan C.

Yelp
17 euros for a 3 course lunch/dinner is exceptional value. However, the food here is not just cheap, but is fantastically delicious as well. It was so good that my wife and I ate here twice during our 3 days in Nice. This place gets booked up, so it's best to make reservations beforehand. However, we failed to do so on both of our visits. The first night, we showed up 30 mins before they opened for dinner. The server (owner?) told us to return right before they opened, and he would see if they would be able to accommodate us. Luckily, he was able to find a spot for us, although we had to share a table with another couple. Over the course of the night, he sent a number of people away. While there were empty tables still available, I think that he leaves them vacant due to limited server/kitchen capacity. The food was great. It's been over a month since our trip. However, I can still remember that the avocado and crawfish salad and braised pork (or was it veal?) really stood out. The lemon tart dessert was also exceptional. However, all of the dishes were very flavorful and well cooked. The second evening, we again showed up without reservations. We had thought about making them the night before, but were unsure whether our plans would work out and allow us to return for dinner. Once again, we showed up early. Sporting sad puppy dog looks on our faces, we asked "Do you remember us? Do you have any room for us again tonight?" The server/owner must have taken it as a compliment, since once again, he made room for us. This time, we sat with an American mother/daughter couple. We happily explained to them the entire menu, which we remembered in detail from the night before. At the end of the night, we were happy to pay our 17 euros for another exceptional meal.

Yelp
Incredibly good food with way undervalued price. It is the best meal I have had in Nice for both the taste and cost. You can not just walk in and expect a seat. Reservation is required. It is cozy and friendly. Customers talk with each other and enjoy the meals in this must-visit bistro.

Charlie C.

Yelp
All I can say is that anyone visiting Nice should make a point to dine here at least once -- or more if you can. It is absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere is charming. I kept thinking that this is the kind of place that inspires chefs -- and please customers. Make a reservation well in advance, enjoy the daily menu, order the house wine, and you will have a wonderful experience.

B H.

Yelp
If you're in Nice, and you want a really good, no really great, home style meal make tracks ( no make a reservation) to go here. A little hard to find, but also hard to leave after a wonderful 3 course meal that is as good (or better ) than places 4 times more expensive. Our table had a variety of dishes, all delicious. A wonderful small bistro type place with very few seats. Delicious ( and well priced wines ). Worth finding, and well worth recommending.

Sze Man C.

Yelp
I came without reservation and so lucky to have a place. The food is amazing here, all the customers are French except me lol. And the service and wine is awesome too. Highly recommended!

Kate W.

Yelp
Spectacular little find with a delectable menu! We had the heirloom tomato & melt-in-your mouth burrata starter, the 'Lark Stew" which was ground pork wrapped in sliced beef, stewed over some long hours to form a unforgettable treat for your tastebuds, topped with penne perfectly cooked in a mason jar, and our last dish with thick but tender carpaccio, accompanied with Parmesan, arugula, and hearts of palm. We finished the evening with a perfectly whipped chocolate mousse. The price was unbeatable and service was incredible. Great place for just about anyone!

Samartygirl T.

Yelp
We were there in July 2018. I read yelp reviews, how everybody said is so good. The pictures of foods look so delicious. When I went there, they don't have the dish that I saw in the picture, because every day they have different menu. I was very disappointed it. The waiter couldn't speak english very well. The menu of that day wasn't too much variety, so he recommended red snapper and steak. The fish and steak have no tasted and over cooked it. The red snapper was so tiny fish, it has more bone then meat. Last, the service wasn't that good either. The waiters were more concentrated the bigger crowd them us. At the end, I was still hungry!

G P.

Yelp
The menu was excellent and a great value! This place is popular, so call them to book ahead. Excellent ambiance with shared tables, so it's a great opportunity to practice your French!

Emily S.

Yelp
My group of friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Service was excellent. Was a full house when we arrived but the waiter did his best to get us in within 10 minutes. Space was small, busy but quiet and decorated nicely! Soup de jour is a must, all the the plats looked/tasted outstanding and dessert was fantastic!! The three course meal was incredibly well priced at 18€.. Best price we found the entire vacation.

Katie C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had big smiles on our faces basically the whole time because this food was fantastic. Really excellently prepared dishes in a nice cozy atmosphere (we sat at a large table next to others). It's always a good sign when the restaurant is packed with locals (we're glad we made a reservation a couple of weeks before - Friday dinner was already booked so we went for lunch). We had everything from oeuf meurette to tender lamb to duck with a hint of honey to a fresh cheese with raspberry coulis. I follow a gluten free diet and the waiter understood this (I confirmed by saying no farine de blé) and told me the 2 dishes I couldn't order (quiche or creamy risotto although in retrospect the lamb had couscous on the side so he might have taken what I said quite literally), but one of the starters had a piece of bread on top and he said "just don't eat the bread." So if you have celiac disease, you might want to be careful/better explain (to be fair, I didn't use the word "allergy"). In short, excellent 3 course meal for 17 euro. Perfection.

Anna P.

Yelp
This was the best food for the price that we got in Nice. Almost everything was delicious. I've never had lentils taste so good. However, the salmon was grossly overcooked. We found this to happen a lot in Nice. We told the chef and he said sorry but didn't replace it even though we didn't eat it. I assume that's a cultural difference, but it was still annoying. Other than that, it was perfect!

Nichole K.

Yelp
We were lucky to arrive just early enough (around 7pm on a Friday night!) before the dinner rush. Once we were seated, the place filled up fast! Adorable little restaurant! Only a pre-fixe 3-course menu for €17/ person, but great value and amazing quality comfort food for the price! Very friendly, English-speaking staff. Quick service too. Side note: At one point the host/waiter turned down the lights and brought out a candle-lit dessert for another restaurant patron and the entire restaurant burst into song with "Joyeux Anniversaire." So endearing! Anyway, delicious dinner and delightful ambience!

Duilio S.

Yelp
Excellent food, very nice ambience, but the service has been too slow (one hour between ordering and receiving the food). Note that the price ended up being about 24 euros for a main course and dessert, and the 18 euros menu is only for lunch .

Scottland K.

Yelp
Best bang for your buck you'll ever find. 3-course meal for 17 euros, all wines were under 30 Euros, and the food is really good. The place looks like everything you'd expect for a tiny french bistro in the Old Town. Very tiny place had maybe 20 seats and you need a reservation(someone walked in looking for a table and was told that the restaurant was full for 2 weeks), but just call or have your concierge call for you ahead of time. I had a tuna tartare starter, roasted duck entree, and pot au chocolat, and loved every dish. Just a really charming little bistro that serves excellent authentic southern French dishes at extremely affordable prices, can't beat this place.

Thanh-Van N.

Yelp
I am really thankful for Yelp because the reviews really has been on the spot for all the restaurants I have recently gone to in NIce! Chez Palmyre is one such gem! Our family was happy to sit among all the local French that were here. We ordered all different dishes and were happy with all of them. The price for the prix fixed menus were incredibily reasonable. And there were many choices for the menus. We were all happy by the time our meal was done, especially my husband who took care of the bill!

Joseph H.

Yelp
My wife and I had lunch. For entrée she had a herring and potato salad that was delicious. I had an aubergine 'mille feuille' which was a layered pasta and eggplant dish; very good. For main course she had a boeuf bourguignon that was very good and I had the veal sauté with lemon and olives which was a revelation. Desert for me was a 'Mont Blanc' style panna cotta, a pudding with whipped cream and almonds, very good; she had a fondant au pomme with caramel which was good. We had a third of a bottle of the house red (250 ml); it went well with the food. The baguette was chewy and had a good crunchy, almost leathery, crust; just the way we like it. Total cost for the two of us was 41 Euros. We are taking visiting friends there for lunch next week. Chez Palmyre is now one of our top 3 or 4 restaurants in Nice. Comparing this to most other restaurants in the area is kind of unfair, since it was so much better.
