Chez Popo Supermarket

Well stocked supermarket with all you need. It has been renamed as GSR supermarket but its the old chez popo. Also offers coffee and pastries in a little room to the left which opens at 7.30am before the actual supermarket opens. Also well priced and good quality.

Huge selection of groceries, including local foods and imported/international products. Also good for souvenirs (local rum gift pack, bois cheri tea, spices etc). More pricey than street food but great quality and selection. Note for vegetarians/vegans: many vegan products available including simply V cream cheese, plant milk, vegan meat alternatives - be sure to try the plant based "popcorn" from the freezer area, those are super tasty & crispy soy balls chicken-style.

Good selection of intercontinental ingredients. A bit short choice of vegs and fruits, considering there the country offers diverse variety. Found all ingredients to make pho soup.

While the prices are a bit higher than some alternatives, the choice of dairy products is commendable. To improve the overall experience, incorporating a fresh fish and meat display would be a valuable addition. This could attract more customers and enhance the variety offered.

Really well stocked supermarket with all the essentials you may need if you are staying around Troux Aux Biches. It is around a 200m walk from Troux Aux Biches beach and it’s quite a lovely stretch of walking 🚶 Once you arrive at Chez Popo Supermarket, there is a lovely bakery and coffee shop just outside here to catch a lovely coffee and breakfast. Prices are not bad. Inside Chez Popo, the supermarket is quite large considering it’s a free standing supermarket and not a chain store. We visited a few times as it was relatively close and offered a really good convenience instead of driving to Grand Baie or La Croisette if we wanted to stock up for the day or visit the beach 🏝️ It has a really wide range of products and is very clean. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly and are on hand to assist you in finding whatever you need. The pricing is reasonable and the bakery is well stocked the baguettes 🥖 are such a staple, they are very fresh and tasty 🤤 There are other baked goods that are familiar to French speakers. There are plenty of fresh and frozen goods as well if you want to do self catering in terms of fruits, vegetables 🥕 and edibles. There’s a lovely selection of ice creams 🍨 that you won’t just find elsewhere and it’s certainly a mission to choose from them 😅 There is also a good selection of water/ cool drinks. Lots of snacks as well and the variety does make it difficult to choose. Also there souvenirs as well as beach items that one would need for your holiday in Mauritius 🇲🇺. It truly saves you the trip of travelling out but yeah if you want more variety, definitely visit a SuperU or Winners. Overall was very pleased whenever we visited and would recommend if you are in the Troux Aux Biches area 😊

Excellent supermarket, has everything you may need for both long stay or just a short vacation. Card payments work ok. There is also a bus station right in front of it
