One of the best meals I had in QC! On a quieter street, I never would have found this place without the recommendation of a local artist. I got the shrimp roll, which I’ll be dreaming about for a while. The croissant was made in house and perfectly compliments the shrimp and the lobster bisque sauce! Highly recommend this place for anyone local or visiting!

We met the owner at a different restaurant the night before he told us to come by and we are glad we did. The atmosphere is quaint and beautiful. We enjoyed some amazing appetizers and a few cocktails and they were all wonderful. We will certainly be visiting Quebec City again and this is one of the main reasons we will be coming back.

Wonderful little hole in the wall place about a block away from the tourist area . We walked by and it smelled delicious . We were not disappointed. Homemade cream of tomato soup and goat cheese salad with crusty focaccia bread hit the spot .

During my visit to Quebec, I had brunch at this beautiful cafe in the vibrant neighbourhood of Old Quebec City. The food was amazing, and the service was top-notch. The prices were reasonable as well. The spicy beef with fried tortilla was particularly delicious. Highly Recommend!

Google
Just perfect. Easy to miss this little gem of a restaurant as it’s just off the main road, but it’s an essential visit. The food is beautiful, well designed and perfectly balanced. Service is excellent and the ambience is relaxed and cosy.

We had an amazing lunch here. The atmosphere was very French with some of my favourite French pop playing in the background which was perfect for a rainy afternoon. We only walked in and were lucky to get a table by the window. Server was kind and professional. The burger simply melted and the salad was delicious. French onion soup was good too but not extraordinary - would appreciate a larger portion and to have some extra bread on the side as I prefer the crunch rather than soggy bread that already comes in the soup. I’d come back here every time when visiting QC! 여기 분위기, 음식 모두 맛집이에요. 퀘벡/프랑스 음식 먹고싶을때 들러보세요.

We chose this place after the first two places we tried were booked. THANK GOODNESS! We shared the Escargot Au Gratin. It was great. My wife had the shrimp and lobster roll. I had the mushroom risotto. We loved all of it. The atmosphere was cozy. The service was excellent. Can't say enough good things

We have walked by this place many times and have wanted to stop in and have a meal and today we finally did. I had duck confit salad and husband had the escargot. It was delicious. This has been one of my favorite spots to eat in Quebec. Quaint, excellent service and it is located on a quiet street away from all the tourist and crowds. We will return

Yelp
Chez Temporel is a refreshing spot that's in a side street - tucked away from the overwhelming and jam packed patios of the main touristy strip of cafes and restaurants. The quality of their food and French cuisine was surprisingly really good and the prices not extremely high. It's got a narrow outdoor patio, but plenty of seats indoor - it gives off an authentic Quebec French-living atmosphere. We ordered: FRENCH ONION SOUP (4/5) - a classic done right. Perfect ratio of of brothy, cheesy, caramelized onion, & bready flavours. BONE MARROW (4/5) - my first time having bone marrow and surprised at the reasonable $18 price. super rich & decadent (almost like melted butter) with lots of crunchy textures from the thinly sliced veggies & bits of meaty bacon. BEEF TARTAR (4.5/5) - I usually see this as an appetizer on other restaurant's menus, but I liked that Chez Temporel featured this French classic as a main. Creamy, yet still light, and a more protein & nutrient dense dish (unlike most other carby main options). I loved the fresh side salad with a house-made green ginger dressing as well. MUSHROOM RISOTTO (4/5) - creamy, mushroomy, and it hit the spot. They added a twist with some crunchy additions rimming the side too! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our patio Quebecois French dinner, service, & time here!

Yelp
This restaurant was a welcomed escape from the busy downtown area, we found it down a little alley without any crowds and it's framed by beautiful flowers around the doorway. The food was amazing, I got the duck confit salad and the duck fell right off the bone and was seasoned to perfection. Extremely fresh and the croissant for the shrimp sandwich was also divine - super light and crisp! Honestly better than any bakery I tried when there.

Yelp
Looking for delicious, authentic, slightly off the beaten path? This is it! Warm atmosphere, great background tunes, friendly service, and a truly french Québécois feeling awaits. The duck confit salad and croque madam (egg added) were hits. Next time, dinner!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my family while we were visiting Quebec and had a great meal! The staff were super friendly and we sat down right away at the table near the window. The restaurant itself isn't too big and filled up quickly after we sat down. My favourite dish was the steak and potatoes. The steak was cooked medium rare like we requested and the entire dish was really well flavored. The lobster risotto had good textures but was a bit saltier than I preferred. The desserts at the end were delicious and nice way to end off our meal. Would definitely recommend walking slightly off the busier main streets in the area and coming here!

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant on a quiet side street in Quebec City. We just popped in for a drink, quite impressed how such a small bar had so many drink options. They have a bit of everything. And the service was friendly and quick. Bartender also was nice when I completely changed one of the menu drinks! She made me a nice vesper. My friend had a really nice French Rosé as well. Their food menu looked really good too, but we didn't eat here. Cute, cozy atmosphere. Nice drinks too!

Yelp
Wow! Authentic French cuisine!! I'm so impressed! I'm taste has truly been elevated! The waitress we had was charming and friendly. This place speaks both French and English. It has outdoor/indoor and upstairs seating! The ambiance is romantic and quaint. Casual attire. But still a nice place to go on a date or hang with friends / family. The food is delicious. One of the best salads I've had! It was just a side salad but everything was fresh and the vinaigrette dressing was just right. I ordered their steak. The waitress didn't even ask how I would like my steak. When I received the meal, it had a small base of pea soup. The moment I tried, wow! Mouth watering. I've been educated! If the wait staff doesn't ask you how you want your steak - you KNOW , can assume, take a chance that it will be perfect! Even the onion soup was delicious! Thank you Quebec for this French meal!!

Yelp
WONDERFUL! Merveilleuse! Everything was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a creative and offbeat approach to standard French dishes. The lobster risotto, scallop crudo, and lobster roll were each delightful and unique. See the pix. Altogether this is a find!!

Yelp
Delicious. On our last leg of a short Quebec City trip, we were able to make a reservation for this small bistro style restaurant. Service is excellent, waiting staff are extremely attentive and even for our big group they were able to get our food out fast. Ordered the Cod (32) which also had a cream sauce, and layered potatoes. The sauce was fantastic, very buttery, light, and matched the cod perfectly. There was a good amount of potatoes as well which were cooked very well, seasoned well. Cod was cooked great too, fluffy on the inside. It's a pretty basic dish that just ticked all the boxes. Great stuff.

Yelp
We were able to get seating here for 2 without reservation on a Saturday night. In general it seems even in "off season" in Quebec City, you'll want reservations for all your dinners if you wish to eat at any of the sit down places in Vieux Quebec. The staff were overall quite friendly and willing to speak to me in French most of the time. This was great as I am learning the language. The place itself appears to be a form of a "tourist trap"--very expensive dishes and small portions. The best thing we had were the escargots. We had the scallops crudo and duck tartare, both of which were OK. I have eaten much better food (quality and portions) for much cheaper in Boston and NYC, so the only reason (foodwise) to come here is if you're itching for the tourist French like bistro place and there's nothing else around.

Yelp
Chez Temporel is the cutest hole-in-the-wall in the crevices off of a main street. There are only a handful of tables both inside and outside, and wasn't overly crowded when I went for a late lunch on a summer weekday. The Croque de Charlevoix was an unsuspected favorite of mine. It was the perfect portion, and light enough to avoid the mid-day sleepies after a meal. Felt like a home-cooked meal in the most comforting way. Knocked off a star for the comfort -- the tables are too close together, making you elbow to elbow with your neighbor. Hard to use a knife and fork without worrying about hitting the person next to you. Next time I return to Quebec City I'd love to return to try their dinner menu.

Yelp
WOW just wow! First of all like another reviewer mentions it's a hidden gem ... a find for sure though I wouldn't say that it's a hole in the wall. It's tucked back in a small street away from all the main touristy restaurants. Cutest lil restaurant with the most amazing food! I mean I was sold by the pictures posted by other fellow diners! There's about 7-8 tables. I couldn't see exactly how the last table was situated in the back bc I was too far in the front n seated. Not a bad seat anywhere bc you can either look at the entire restaurant from the back or out to the street from the two front tables or middle tables a view of the cool bar. I failed to mention that they also had upstairs seating. My bf and I were there for our last decadent meal (lunch) before headed back home stateside. Decadent in that we went for the seared foie gras to the octopus and ignoring calories the croquet monsieur. While I clearly was focused on finally sinking my teeth into seared foie gras the purple cauliflower caught my eye. I'm all about the plating and presentation to grab your attention and let me tell you - they DID! I can attest that everything was as good as it appears in the photos in fact they were much better in person and my soufflé of a holiday binging belly can also attest to! So if you are a local reading this you probably know this place is Quebec City's best kept secret and if you are a visitor you must get here! So we'll worth it and bon appétit! P.S. not sure if this is fact but a tour guide walked past murmuring that this is spot is one of the oldest restaurants in the city.

Yelp
Hands down best meal in Quebec City - excellent onion soup which became the standard against every other onion soup we tasted in Quebec City. Cocktails and wine were excellent too! Main course I had the mushroom risotto with duck confit - amazing dish and I loved every bite. My daughter had the seafood pot pie which was like a shepherds pie but with seafood - excellent! For dessert we shared creme brulee which was also delectable. What a wonderful cozy unassuming restaurant that left such an impression on us. Exceptional!

Yelp
This place. Perfect little spot with possibly the world's best hamburger. I have no idea what they do to the burger but the texture was magical. Also had the mushroom risotto, artichoke dip, warm olives, salad and cauliflower soup. Nothing was mediocre- everything was delicious. This is a sweet spot for a nourishing little meal!

Fer R.

Yelp
Everything was so good. Good service, everyone was so kind. The ambiance is quiet and pleasant. And the food is just delicious.

Yelp
Wow, food was unbelievable, flavor profile was fantastic. Had Mustard Chicken and chile con carne. Both were super delectable. Finished with cappuccino and hot chocolate yum .

Yelp
We had a delightful lunch here yesterday. For a party of 5 we were seated quickly. The restaurant has some tables outdoor on the sidewalk and seating inside and upstairs. Being a Monday their fruit hadn't yet been delivered but there were enough yummy things on the breakfast and lunch menu to choose from. I had the goat cheese baguette that came with a huge salad and was delicious and filling. Others in my party had the goat cheese salad, croissants and croque monsieur sandwich - all delicious. The waitress apologized for the slight delay in the kitchen but as with everything else in Quebec, things move at a leisurely pace which we didn't mind since we are on vacation! The iced lattes flavored with maple syrup were delicious and kept us occupied! Service, ambiance and food were all fantastic!

Yelp
After six years, we finally got to return to our favorite place in Old Quebec. The ambience and service are as we remember, cozy, warm, and friendly. The croque monsieur is still excellent, and the French onion soup was great. Will definitely be back next time we're in Quebec.

Ryan Patrick S.

Yelp
Food was great. They had some traditional French dishes. The waitress was super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
The frittata was outstanding; my wife loved the French onion soup. A very nice lunch.

Yelp
Excellent overall, little hole in the wall, great surprise! Young, energized group of Kids manage, serve and Cook spectacularly here. Foie Gras, Scallop Ceviche, Duck breast... all done magnificently by their Chef on site. Be patient but you'll be rewarded

Yelp
Tiny place on a quiet side street. Tiny menu as well, but for once a good beer selection, including NAs! . Solid shrimp roll that burst out of the bun, and really fresh burrata salad with croutons.
google avatar

Tamira G.

Yelp
This place had delicious food. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Quebec City. The ambiance is really relaxed and the interior is quaint. We ordered the octopus pasta and the beef shoulder. The beef melted in my mouth and the octopus was so tender. Our experience here was very pleasant
google avatar

Yelp
This local gem is a two minute walk from where we are staying. Service was spot on and food is delicious. We ordered the mushroom risotto with duck leg confit, beef shoulder with veggies and the most delicious maple sugar pie! Gorgeous, sweet location. You just can't go wrong here!
google avatar

Stas Z.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a cozy lunch or dinner. The menu is not huge, but everything on it is high quality and delicious. We had to wait a bit to be seated, and it was well worth it.

ERIC AND MICHAEL A.

Yelp
We found this gem of a restaurant near our hotel, as others have said, it's a little bit off the tourist path, which makes it perfect - beautiful ambiance, and a cozy setting. However, the real treats are the staff and the food! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, Maria Fernanda can take your order in French, English, or Spanish, and the food was such a delight. We had the French Onion soup, Beef Bourguignon, and the catch of the day (halibut). Everything was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Would come back here in a heartbeat next time we're in Quebec City!
google avatar

Barbara H.

Yelp
Small restaurant with a limited menu. The food and service were very good. I'd suggest that the owner update the menu seasonally, as what had appealed to us on the website was not current. Choices offered that evening were two duck entrees (salad or tartare), one octopus, one beef flank steak, and one other I can't recall. Pretty limited for some diners.

Yelp
Amazing food, very fresh! The services was excellent and friendly. This place was great for a quick bite on a hot summer day!

Pat C.

Yelp
Service: Perfect Ambiance: Perfect...that discordant jazz Food: Excellent Location is in a good location away from the crazy!

Andrew V.

Yelp
Excellent French food! Delicious Foie Gras- unadulterated richness! Service was very good!

Richard S.

Yelp
Awesome food, great service and staff. Quiet, off the beaten path, the menu is short but the selections are nicely varied. Great place for a date.

Ana Helena B.

Yelp
RIDICULOS! We made a reservation for New Year's dinner weeks in advance based on the menu available on the website. 24 hours before our reservation we received an email informing a la carte would be available and a price-fixed menu was mandatory. The menu has only one option! It is done in extremely bad faith knowing that would never be possible to find another reservation for New Year's dinner within 24hrs!!!

Julie N.

Yelp
I wish there was a higher count than 5 stars because this restaurant and the folks who own and run it are AMAZING. Eating there was a highlight for my husband and myself while in Quebec! The drinks were perfectly prepared; the food was delicious....and we tried several things......best escargots anywhere!!!! The staff is delightful and I would encourage anyone who is in Quebec to go there!!!!! HANDS DOWN...THE BEST FOOD WE HAD IN QUEBEC!

Robert T.

Yelp
Top notch food and service. Very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Just FYI, bathrooms are up steep stairs.

Sonia L.

Yelp
Came to Chez Temporel searching for a delicious with a bit of je ne ce quoi..and it was that and more. High recommend having the soupe de jour.

Jim J.

Yelp
Was not super impressed by boreal bowl. The tofu was cold and the portion was small. Maybe others feel differently

Carol C.

Yelp
We loved this little gem. It's off the main street, so it's quiet. The service was good, and our breakfast was tasty. We had the spinach eggs Benedict, accompanied by delicious crispy potatoes and a small cup of sweet honeydew melon and strawberries. I also had a Latte and my friend had a croissant with a small dollop of chocolate. Perfect!

LYNN L.

Yelp
We had the wonderful goat cheese salad! Our service was attentive. Lunch was worth the search for the location.

JoAnne B.

Yelp
Very limited menu on a Sunday night. I went there because of good reviews. Nothing in the menu was what we wanted. Spicy food is what we ended up with and didn't enjoy at all. Long walk there and passed many great looking places that we all wished we had stopped at. Don't go.

Dan H.

Yelp
We came here on a recommendation for lunch and it did not disappoint. If lunch was this good, I can't imagine how delicious dinner is

Kathleen M.

Yelp
My friend and I both had the eggs Benedict with spinach. EXCELLENT! It came with a cup of fresh fruit. I also had a plain croissant, and the waitress brought me a little cup of creamy chocolate for a dipper...yum!
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
We had a great meal. The tomato appetizer was fantastic! Overall very solid menu. Service was great. Good vibe.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant tucked around the corner near a busy part of the city. Staff were extremely friendly! I went for dinner one of the nights I was in Quebec and also went for breakfast. The dinner menu had a lot of good options - I got the seafood risotto and it was great! The breakfast menu is a little more limited but they have an omelette brunch that was very filling. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Aron K.

Yelp
Terrible food. Random ingredients tossed together. Dishes served cold and look dehydrated like they were microwaved. Very expensive for what it is.
google avatar

May C.

Yelp
We had the duck salad. Delicious and tender. Smoke salmon is also very good. Lunch is limited. Only one big DRAW BACK...Took about one hr before we got our salad. Way too long. Only one chef preparing it. If you not hungry or in a rush...this one to consider.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
Wow! The plates were cleaned and would be licked if that was proper! Went for dinner on a Tuesday night, a smaller menu but all the meals were 5 star! The service was fantastic and were more see how we can fit another meal here in the next day before we leave! ..and then we had the dessert.. lemon tart! Down a quiet street and we got here just before it got busy...
google avatar

Wendy C.

Yelp
Best meal from our Quebec vacay! This is tucked away from St. Jean and very cozy. It's a very small cafe but the food is delicious and service was great. We had the French onion soup, flanked steak, Lamb shank, croque monsieur and the cod special!
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
We've traveled to Quebec frequently and dined here a few times. It has always been a hidden surprise on a quiet street which we've loved. With only a handful of tables it never has an overly busy feel but the other day something was way off. Our server wasn't friendly, but we figured maybe she was new or overwhelmed for some reason. We say "Merci" she looks the other way and says nothing - and never the crack of a smile. We ordered and minutes turned into many minutes of waiting. After over an hour - with no explanation from our server - our food finally arrives. Ham and cheese sandwiches plus two salads shouldn't take this long. And worse yet, our duck was maybe at the most 1-2 ounces. And some of that was fat. It was the most meager portion for $22 and really a disappointment. While the city was bustling that day there was no line waiting for seats. And if they had just said our meal might take more time than usual we would have been ok and understanding. But then we completely lost all patience when the server wouldn't respond to our waves or eye contact to actually pay our Bill and leave. She was out right ignoring us. Thankfully most restaurants here are incredibly friendly and really go out of their way to make guests feel welcomed. Perhaps they had a bad day!

Yelp
Food and just a peaceful place for a really nice meal. Open windows. Seemed like a neighborhood place with locals coming/going. It was a place that I would probably frequent on a daily basis if I lived here.
