"Fresh Belgian Fries in the Heart of Brugge Across the street from the Sint-Salvatorskathedraal (St. Salvator Cathedral) you'll find this little shop that serves traditional belgian fries, brochettes, croquettes, fish sandwiches, and grilled meats on a stick. Grab your food and a Belgian beer and head upstairs to the tables. From upstairs you have a view of the Cathedral and can people-watch while chowing down on delicious fresh food. The grilled meats sell out early, but everything on the menu is tasty. Lots of students eat here because it's good and the price is right!"

We stopped in here on the off chance whilst wandering about the city last December and are so glad we did. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Everything was cooked freshly and was flavourful. There was a great choice of options. It's not a huge place but it was clean and a nice atmosphere with a fantastic view. The food portions were excellent and the children's meals superb. Honestly cannot fault it and it was a fraction of the price of places around the centre. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in the city.

Great idea of fast food and nice experience while you are in Bruges. Location and building are awesome. Food is a bit over rated. This is just fries (good ones). Too much wait for this. If you ask for fork and knife you pay 50 cents more 😳

The owners are very friendly people who serve you with a smile. Although this building is not immediately noticeable, it is the ideal place to eat quietly. It is not every day that you can eat good fries with a view of the Saint Salvator Cathedral. Definitely a must if you get hungry while shopping!

This place seems to get a bad rap for mediocre food and grumpy staff. I had the exact opposite experience when visiting this shop with my husband on a whim at the lunch rush. We ordered frietjes, mexicano and a burger (I think it was called the Vini... salad, pepper sauce, tomato and a brown bun). Yes, I think we did wait 19 minutes to be served. Given the lunch rush and the fact that the kitchen is tiny and staffed by one courageous cook, we tucked in patiently for the wait. In my opinion, it was worth it. The frietjes were above average. The mexicano was well-cooked (these can be very dry in the hands of a poor cook, and many are poor cooks). The burger was actually very nice (I am always wary of Belgian burgers, but this one impressed). We had good service and good food. Would return.

Google
Absolutely rudest service I’ve experienced in years. Mean-spirited, not solution oriented, fabulously unfriendly. The fries are just fine. The sauces, meh. The service is heinous. Customers cannot use the bathroom until after they’ve paid. Um, ok. A table for 3 cannot pay for drinks by credit card after they already paid by credit card for the food, because they don’t accept two credit card payments for one table. Why? Because every time they run a credit card, they pay 50 cents. I get it. Can you please charge me an extra 50 cents so I can help cover your charge and get my drinks? NO. So instead of selling the drinks AND having the credit card charged covered, they sold no drinks. Absurd.

Google
Burger, fries, sauces.. Everything was very good !! I was expecting outstanding French fries but they were just good (which is already great 😅). Long line to get the food but i did not regret. The sauces are delicious.

Google
We had the medium sized chips with mayo, giant meatball and beef croquettes. The meal was delicious and the location is really good. They also do take away for 15% off from the total price and there is lots of nice areas nearby to eat your meal. Would 100% recommend and will visit again!

Google
Food was tasty, freshly prepared and hot. We had a fantastic window seat which overlooked the cathedral. A handheld receiver buzzed when the food was ready. The menu offered a wide range of choices: burgers, sausage and some more traditional, local choices. The grandma's stew was delicious and came with a drink, frites, choice of sauce and a side salad.

Yelp
Saw on google that this was the best place for fries in bruge, but was slightly disappointed with the order compared to the fries I had in brussels. While the sauces were really good (curry ketchup and spicy pulled chicken), the fries tasted pretty average. Recommend both sauces, especially the pulled chicken!, but can probably get them elsewhere as well.

Yelp
A solid choice for croquet and fries in Brugge. If you want lunch, definitely come here! (I wouldn't necessarily recommend some of the other restaurants in the market, as they get touristy and food quality cannot really compare.) Better come for a late lunch (say after 1:30 pm) as seating upstairs is very limited. They do close down between 3 and 5 pm so don't come too late. Also, make sure to study the menu before entering the restaurant (there is a menu board outside). Upon entering, get ready to place your order immediately. They will give you a buzzer and notify if your food is prepared. The bathroom is downstairs, but I didn't use it. You can also use its bathroom if you don't eat here but you need to pay a small fee.

Yelp
While on the hunt for the best frites in Bruges, Chez Vincent came up. I had to walk a little farther from the main town square but I would say it was worth it. Service was fairly quick and the portion is HUGE but they do charge for a sauce on your fries so I chose the samurai sauce (spicy mayo). The fries are nice and crispy without being too oily and the sauce was decent but after a while the sauce got a little too heavy and some fries were drenched in it while others were not. Not sure if getting the sauce on the side is an option (or if they charge you for that) but these fries would have been amazing with it! Overall, these fries were great, perfect for sharing, decently priced and it looked better than the ones sold in the city center.

Jason C.

Yelp
Excellent fries! Fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The potato had a fragrant aroma. My guess they also fried the potatoes with a blend of beef tallow and other oils. All that gives the fries a bit of umami that is good enough to eat on its own without the sauce. The sauces were generally good. However, the beef stew sauce looked kinda gross since they warmed it up in the microwave in the same container they serve with. So the container was soft and collapsing since the heat melted the plastics.

Yelp
Fifty minutes. No food. Missed tour. Enough said. The food may eventually be amazing, but almost an hour for fries?!?!?!

Tiana S.

Yelp
I mean it's Bruges, there definitely better meals but for the price this place is solid. I'd say it's 3.5 but bumping it to 4 due to being one of the few places that A) you can get full for 10 euro in Bruges square B) accepts American Express C) cheap wine Pros: Centrally located, inexpensive, quick, large selection, large portions Meh: busy, can easily over spend, some items not a good deal Overall once you're tired of spending 20 euro per person per meal, you'll drop in and still spend 20 euro per person but you'll get a lot more food

Matt C.

Yelp
Chez Vincent lives up to the hype and offers traditional Belgian Friets just off the beaten path. If there is a crowd, check the upstairs seating, we did and it was perfect!

Yelp
A nice inexpensive restaurant for lunch. Food - The have burgers, fries, and other similar items for lunch. The prices are fairly reasonable, with many burgers around €4-5 (including a veggie burger), a medium fries for €3 + €0.90 for amy sauces, and beverages from about €2.2 (soda can) to 3+ (alcoholic). The fries are quite large, with a large size being more American sized than European sized (unusual!) Seating - There are 25-30 seats upstairs, a few of which have good views to the next door church. The steps up are a little bit steep and narrow, but this is not too dissimilar from other places in the area.

Allen T.

Yelp
This review is only for the Belgian Fries. As a tourist in Belgium one has to have "belgian frites". I found this place to have the best fries in Bruges. The frites are double fried, making them extra crispy. Additionally you can choose sauces to drizzle on top of the frites. I think they do the additional frying of the frites when ordered so were pretty hot. very inexpensive for the frites, AND if you order from them the bathrooms are free to use (unlike the Friterie). Yes finding a public bathroom where you don't have to pay is a pretty big hassle in Europe.

Jill S.

Yelp
We only got frites here but after reading the reviews I was expecting better. The frites are good, but I think there are better frites elsewhere in the city. It looks like they have a lot of delicious food, though!

Brian G.

Yelp
Suggested by Rick Steve's travel book. Nice location with mostly outside seating. Menu is in multiple languages which is nice. Menu options are very limited, mainly deep fried food, hamburgers, and frites. They were out of many of their menu items. Service (by the older man taking orders) was poor, he was not polite (that was unusual because Belgians are really nice...I know because I live in Belgium). The food was good and worth the price.

Susan K.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was fresh and yummo! My fish burger was great. The only criticism is that the sauces were too expensive for what they were. Would definitely go again though

Maria N.

Yelp
Decent food but horrible staff. A female employee actually yelled at me for not picking up my tray when I went to the bathroom. I have never been so insulted at an establishment. The whole experience was ridiculous. I would NEVER RETURN here an would never recommend it. I have experienced bad service before but yelling at a customer was a whole other level. DO NOT GO THERE

Marine B.

Yelp
First impression: the owner is not super nice... He doesn't say hi, looks annoyed when we ask what goes into the house special and doesn't chat at all while we wait. Not all Belgian are friendly, apparently. Fries are good, thick and crispy as they should. As for the sauce, we tried the homemade mayonnaise (good, but not sure it's homemade...) and the carbonnade (very good). Prices are the best point: we only paid €5 for a large portion of fries and 2 sauces, which was enough for 2.

Yelp
If you are looking for a cheap but solid fast-food meal this is the place to be. Solid burgers(including vegetarian versions) and fries! Vincent is very welcoming. You order at the entrance and then go upstairs and wait for your food equipped with an electronic bell. The interior is simple but clean.

Nicole L.

Yelp
So a few days into my trip I still had not tried the fries. We were walking through the city and decided to stop by Chez Vincent for dinner. Chez Vincent was the royce-rolls of fries stand it was indoor and climate controlled. Walking in we were at the ordering counter there were all kinds interesting fast food in the deli fridge. I wanted some fries and croquettes. My bf also ordered a burger. We were given an electronic device to wait for the food so we headed upstairs for more seating. The upstairs had a nice view of the bustling city. The fries were thick cut fries, they were nice and hot but not any different from fries I had in the US. The croquettes were just average and the burger, that was different an alternate concept of hamburger pattie a mix of meat with added binding agents. They even charged the mayonnaise and tartar sauce but you got to have them. Even my bf was disappointed, better stick to the good old fries stand in the streets.

Yelp
Our tour guide recommended this place and she has good taste. Tried the fricadel sausage and fries. Both very good but the fricadel sausage made me come back for a 2nd visit. Service was friendly and spoke English.

Julianne C.

Yelp
Very sub-par. Nothing to go out of your way for but decent for a quick meal. We got the burger, veggie burger and chicken on a stick. The chicken was good, burger was okay (strange sauce) and would not recommend the veggie burger. Still, if you need a quick bite that isn't expensive and you're not looking to be impressed, this is it.

Yelp
We went here following NYTimes article on 36 hours in Bruges, despite the poor reviews on Yelp. And we weren't disappointed, by the frites (Belgian fries) at least. We had the ones with curry pineapple sauce, and the ones with mayo, ketchup and onion- both sauces were delicious. Would recommend for a quick (not so healthy of course!) snack.

Dee B.

Yelp
Being charged for mayo or another sauce for your frites is rather standard around here, so that did not surprise me nor bother me. The side salad was a very nice touch, as were the beepers given out to let you sit, relax and pick up your fries when they were fresh out of the fryer. The fries were good, but I had much better in the Netherlands.

Stanley S.

Yelp
Usually when someone uses the "Chez" in front of their restaurant's name it implies classy, elegant, full of taste, etc. It is none f those here, but the food was delicious and dang, the fries were good. They claim to have the best fries in the area. I don't know if they were the best in Bruges or Belgium, but they were good and better than most I have had in the USA. Not the best fries I ever had (more on that in a future review) but certainly in the top two. We are not beef eaters so we opted for chicken burgers. We ordered the Curry and Smoky (not realizing that meant barbecue sauce, until we ate them). We shared and were full thoroughly full enjoying both, with the Curry being the easy winner. The size of the small portion of fries was substantial and enough for two. Yes, they do charge for sauces but there is quite a range. We opted for the traditional ketchup and were not impressed as it had a very sweet taste compared to the American version of ketchup. You order at the counter (there is outside seating but it was a cold day, so inside it was). The ordering area is very cramped as well as the downstairs seating where we kind of felt like we were in a closet. Upstairs seating is more spacious. Food came quickly and the portions were impressive. The counter service was friendly and efficient with the menu board easy to follow. While they may not be a "Chez" restaurant the way the word connotes, they were "Chez" in taste and value

Fili N.

Yelp
Very rude staff! And overpriced for what are in the end French Fries and not even the best ones in town!

Michelle H.

Yelp
Fries were ehhh ok. still in search of the best frites in Bruges or Belgium!

Michelle B.

Yelp
Nothing special, I don't recommend. The lettuce in my side salad had brown edges. Was hoping for better fries. Good view of pedestrian area. Not friendly at the cash register.

Yelp
Great quality, a delightful place to get take away chips after wandering around the magnificent St Salvatore church.

Lynsey M.

Yelp
i was yelled and cused at by a man behind the counter for taking too many napkins, which i think is crazy. paying for sauce is also not very plesant. the fries were good, but nothing to rave about.
