A nightmare. Garbage everywhere - on the beach and in the water, sewage flowing into the water, grass burning, burning garbage and disgusting "resorts", some abandoned. The forest has been devastated, cut down to make some absurdly wide roads leading to nowhere. There are practically no forest paths left. According to an article found in the Khmer Times, a city is to be built here, whatever that means. It breaks my heart because the island has the potential to be an ideal ecotourism destination. There are still a few beautiful places left on the island, such as Sunset Beach, Lazy Beach or Pearl Beach, but it is best to give Saracen Bay a wide berth.

Popular resort beach of Koh Rong Samloem. This beach is stunning. It's pretty busy with resorts and restaurants lining the beach but no town here. There are 3 boat docks at either ends of the beach.

The Saracen Bay is definitely not worth the time and money. Go anywhere else to Thailand, Indian Goa, Malaysia, Mexican Yucatan etc. You will experience much much much better beaches and conditions there. And you will have better, more relaxing holiday. Saracen Bay is very loud due to multiple small boats crossing over with their very noisy engines. And that starts everyday as early as 7am and goes on till the late evening. The local officials should really consider banning this sort of engines. Water is not so clean (as of March), although sand is relatively ok. Beach smells with sewage in some parts and mostly everywhere with engine fumes. Occasionally there are fumes and smoke from plastics, rubbish being burnt by locals, somewhere deeper in land (that practise is so common everywhere in Cambodia). If you are looking for some sea waves and breeze you won't get it here. But if you are looking for calm water and air standing still, than it's here. Food is bad to medium in terms of quality in most of the places. Prices higher then in land, but that's understandable.

Very beautiful white sandy beach. Unfortunately it is getting crowded with too many resorts.

We arrived in the evening, with low tide.. the beach was smelling really bad, like of sewage.. we did not have the courage to take a swim the next day. Luckily we booked on the other side of the island, on sunset beach.

Man what happened here? Covid I guess. What a SHAME! Many rundown old bars n hotels falling to bits, feels like a disaster movie. Water and beach full of plastic trash and waste. Brown water around. Loud disco music in the night. Annoying. Came a long way to visit, wouldn't come back. Long way to go Cambodia to catch up with Thailand

Cannot recommend this place. Missing water management and place is full of rubish. I could collect 50 plastic straws in two minutes snorkling. This place is enviro disaster bad for fish. Corals are dead already. Do not support this country islands untill they solve they problem with plastic and sewer systems.

Nice beach when it’s calm, but there’re a lot of trash on the beach. And even more people who forget (accidentally of course) their bubble tea after they finished it. FU...take your trash with you!!! BTW, what is this on the picture, SEWAGE?!? Is this a second BORACAY issue?!? Call the president!!!
