4 stars dining-in, 1 (or zero) star for delivery
Our first time here was for lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was nearly empty, and my husband and I were absolutely blown away by the food! But then we ordered delivery (dinner) the next day and it was abysmal.
The cocktails were ok to good - they're definitely trying. The wines by the glass... we tried a bunch of their "oddball" selections, and we can't say we enjoyed any of them, but appreciated their sense of adventure. I think their regular wine offerings are decent.
The veggie rolls were our favourite. Just a beautiful, unique combination of technique, flavour and textures made this a win in the restaurant. When we ordered it delivery, it was significantly less delightful, but not bad.
The truffle wontons - in terms of flavour and textures, it was very very good - but you have to really love truffles as they have a heavy hand with the truffle oil. If you're on the fence about truffles, maybe skip it, or ask them to go easy on it.
The potstickers/gyoza were really delicious, great textures. It wasn't as good delivery unfortunately.
The bok choy is ridiculously expensive for how much you get, but wow, my husband and I both thought it was the best we've ever eaten anywhere, and we've travelled all over China and Hong Kong. Not sure if this was a fluke, but we are looking forward to trying it next time we dine in.
The Brussel sprouts in the restaurant were quite good - but when we ordered it delivery, it came in an inedible SOUP of frying oil - I'd say about 3 tablespoons. Really gross.
The truffle udon carbonara (dine-in) was a bit thin in terms of flavour/sauce, and strong on the truffle oil, but not bad.
For delivery, I ordered the Laksa, which you would think would be easy to convert to vegan and retain its luxurious mouthfeel as coconut milk/cream is an integral component... but no. It was thin, runny, slightly sour broth with a touch of creaminess, that was shockingly bereft of vegetables. A normal Laksa typically has about 4x more vegetables than the HALF of a bok choy, a few pieces of bamboo and less than one mushroom sliced up in it. Really a disappointment. The only good thing about it was the noodles - really delicious, with a good bouncy chew.
My husband ordered the vegan pho for delivery, which had an excellent broth, but similarly bereft of vegetables, although he did get a small amount of bean sprouts. Honestly, the stinginess of vegetables was quite shocking.
Our experience dining in was so different from the delivery, we are going to try dining in again to see if our experience was an aberration.
The prices are high, and the portions are small, so they really need to work on their consistency, and maybe be less stingy with the vegetables...!
