The experience of my stay from 14.10.25 to 19.10.25 in this house boat is excellent. All facilities are available ,the behaviour of the staff is excellent. Beautiful foods also very delicious. The boat is also well protected.They organised local & outside tour through experience driver as guide in very budgeted rate. The host is very nice and helpful in every sphere. In a ward our experience is excellent and unforgettable. I strongly recommend the house boat for my friends and others.

I booked this holiday from Australia after seeing 5 star reviews on all forums.I wasn't disappointed with my choice. From the pick up from Srinagar airport to being dropped off at the same airport 4 days later,the experience was great. |The booking was seamless and the correspondence with the owner via email was always responded without delay.The staff employed by the owner were always courteous and helpful. The food was great. The tours organised by the owner were fantastic. The houseboat was so beautiful and cosy. It is situated on Dal Lake which is so beautiful and serene.We all had one of the best holidays that we have ever experienced and it was all due to the owner Mr Khar and his staff of Mohammed and Tariq. |I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday experience as we will never forget the holiday that we enjoyed.

I stayed with my family and my little child at Chicago Houseboats for five wonderful days, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences of my life — even after visiting many countries around the world. The place is absolutely stunning, adorned with authentic Kashmiri craftsmanship. The beautifully carved wooden interiors transport you into another world of art, peace, and timeless charm. Every corner of the houseboat reflects the rich heritage and elegance of Kashmir. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfectly organized. Even before we reached, the driver was already in touch with the management to update them about our arrival time. When we finally got there, we were warmly welcomed with a delicious traditional Kashmiri dinner waiting for us — a gesture that truly showed the warmth of Kashmiri hospitality. Each day, a new trip was arranged for us — to Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Srinagar — and every evening, we would return to the comfort of the houseboat to find our room beautifully prepared and dinner ready. It felt like coming home every single night. The entire team works together as one family to make sure every guest feels cared for. They are kind, attentive, and thoughtful in every detail. My child loved the place so much — he felt safe, happy, and completely at home. Simply put, Chicago Houseboats is not just accommodation — it’s a complete Kashmiri experience of art, warmth, and serenity. This was one of the most amazing holidays I’ve ever had with such beautiful people that looked after us. Our guide was so helpful and showed us places that others had not been too and was such a happy vibe to be with. Muhammad was the finest and generous cook you could possibly have and always with a huge smile. Ajaz the owner did everything to make our stay special and designed our holiday to suit our needs. I’ve been visiting Srinagar for 13 years and have stayed in dozens of houseboats. The warmth of the hospitality at Chicago Houseboats is second to none, and the decor and furniture onboard transports you back 50 years. If you are seeking a quintessential houseboat experience, this is it. ||Owner Ajaz Khar is a fourth generation houseboatman and his family has hosted numerous historic figures, including Indira Gandhi. There are a total of 10 bedrooms across three wooden boats, all of which are handmade and beautifully carved. Nothing beats sitting on the veranda at the front of the boat, watching the birds and the shikaras.

This was truly the trip of a lifetime. As a solo traveler, I couldn’t have felt safer or better cared for than I was with the team at Chicago Houseboats. Ajaz and his staff struck the perfect balance of warm, family-run hospitality and high-quality service. From the mountain tour and airport transfers to the uniquely crafted day tailored to my own plans—and, of course, the incredible home-cooked meals—every detail was pure luxury. It was truly the best vacation I could have imagined, and I can’t wait to return someday with my family.
