First off, this is a hostel that is meant for people who simply want a place to sleep, with decent airconditioning and all basic amenities that you would expect from a hostel. If that's what you're looking for, then this is one of the best hostel's you can find, especially at the almost perfect location that it is situated. I stayed at the hotel for 4 days, and had a 2-person-bedroom. It's just big enough for a 2-person bed and a few amenities. Checking in is done at their sister hotel (Reding hotel). They will give you a keycard (and a spare) and from that moment on you can freely access the hostel using that keycard. When entered, you are greeted with a nice and cool bottle of water. There is a shower, a washing table, and towels (large and small) are provided. There is also soap and shampoo, and comes with bath slippers. The room is cleaned daily. Breakfast is included. Pro's : - Location is top notch. Everything is extremely nearby and there is a supermarket literally next-door. - All basic amenities are there, and they're good - Comes with airconditioning (quiet and works fairly well) - Comes with a hairdryer - Beautiful large RGB-LED strip above the bed (controllable) - Bottle with water (refilled daily), shampoo, soap - Nearly unbeatable price during the summer season - The room is quite clean and well looked after Cons: - The bed is slightly on the hard side (pillows are great) - When close to a breakfast area, it's very noisy in the morning if you want to sleep through the morning, ask for a room far from the breakfast area when possible - Noise between rooms is fairly noisy as well. If you focus enough, then you can actually follow a conversation in a different room. All in all the noise is probably the biggest issue I've had, and would've given an absolute 5 star review when that would be covered. With that being said, for the money you pay this is one of the best hostels you can get in the heart of Barcelona.

This is a good choice. I was satisfied. The rooms are very clean. The location is great, very close to the metro. 15 minutes to everywhere. Everything is carefully thought out, even the writings on the shampoos, on the entrance card. Only the breakfast should have more variety. The Spanish may not have breakfast, but we need breakfast. There is an open kitchen where you can drink coffee and juice all day long and eat fruit. A little surprise at the entrance also spoils you. I recommend it

Everything was OKish here but the room is tiny, very basic - bed (not comfy btw), and toilet/shower just next to the bed, separated from the rest with a glass door. Its a bit claustrophobic. There is no shelf or anywhere you could put your clothes/ all had to be on the floor. The AC blows directly at bed so during night several times I had to switch it on /off, it was getting too cold but without it it was stuffy and hot. I think the AC settings were fixed as I couldn't not change the temperature. They say 'breakfast included' but its just some basic cereals full of sugar, not yummy and unhealthy bread in the fridge with some cheese/ham, biscuits. Its very basic and not really healthy I would say. Not something I eat. Over all it was clean and felt safe there were cameras/monitoring. So this was OK (and very important for BCN!). However Im disappointed as I paid a 'hotel' with breakfast price, but this wasn't what I was hoping for. I was rushing with this booking so didn't have time to search but seeing later, for the same price or just few Eur extra you are getting a normal room/with a desk and wardrobe, somewhere to put your things on and where bathroom is a separate space (not that you sleep next to the toilet lol)... I wouldn't recommended it, definitely not for this price. If it was like 60/70 EUR - then OK, fair enough. But to pay over a 120EUR and get this... not worth it, sorry. Also once I made my booking I got an address of the place, but the reception was another street (2 mins walk), in another hotel. So you do your check ins and then walk to another building, separated from the main one. Not a big problem, but if you just follow the booking.com address, you arrive and you see a door with zero info where to go or what to do. Unnecessary. This all info should be in booking confirmation email.

There's lots to like about this place. Lovely building, balcony, 24 hour 'help yourself' room (drinks, snacks and even a desktop computer if you're after a proper size screen to check your emails!), friendly staff, central location, right by a metro and a comfy bed.||The main downside for me was the bathroom (imagine an entirely plastic caravan bathroom has been fitted into the corner of the room and when you shower, the curtain repeatedly gets stuck to your skin). I appreciate this is budget accommodation and they wanted to keep it small, but it just gave me the ick.||The door to the balcony doesn't keep out any noise, and it's a busy area at night, but I had figured this out from other reviews before I booked so was prepared.||All in all, a great stay!

Good price for value. Really good location, walking distance to most sightseeing locations, the room was pretty small, but you’re not sitting in the room all day, so it was fine. Really nice surprise that they prepared some presents for you, housekeeping team cleaned the room every day, which was nice. Also, very nice kitchen where you can have tea, coffee, water and food for free. We really enjoyed our stay! |The only thing which we didn’t like was that we didn’t have a window with a view, it was literally a wall, but not just building across the street; more like a square 1m x 1m, which was a bit confusing, as we didn’t have sunlight and fresh air; I’m not sure if it’s the same for all rooms, or we were unlucky☹️ But otherwise everything was really good!

It has such a good location, only a few minutes' walk from the university bus stop - easy access to various tourist spots. However, a few days before my arrival at Barcelona, I received an email from them saying there's no reception in the hotel, therefore I need to drop in a nearby hotel first to pick up a key and check in!!! How weird is it! They should mention this system on the web page and hotels.com page as well! I would've booked some other hotel. Additionally, the receptionist when I checked in was very unsmpatheic when I complained the air-conditioning machine was not working on such a boiling hot day, simply saying there's no other room available and come back tomorrow! What an unplesant welcome to Barcelona!

We got to check in early after coming off an 8-day cruise. That was so welcoming. The staff was excellent, the breakfast was full and tasty, and the location was great. Everything was perfect. Wish I had spent more than just 2 days in that location but I will return. Thanks, everyone.

Pros: Location, cleanliness, helpful staff, 24h. kitchen area with unlimited coffee and sandwiches. That was nice. The receptionist were helpful in many ways, like creating the invoice, lending us an iron and granting a storage space on the check out. Check-in could have been quicker though. Cons: The price and the room. I payed 160 euros per night, which is shocking for how small the room is and that technically is not a hotel but a pension. It seems that the place used to be an apartment in which each space was converted to a room. Where the closet used to be they added a toilet and a shower, but the sink they placed it on the opposite side of room. Very weird distribution. I would still repeat if the price is lowered.

Great rooms, amenities and lovely staff. Free wifi! Great value for money. Extremely central. Would definitely come back and recommend to friends. Thank you Chic & Basic for an amazing weekend in Barcelona. :)
