Chicharronera Don Yayo

Seafood soup was good, but the chef used a stick cube which wasn't properly dissolved. Presentation great though. Great service though.

The food here is delicious, we come here often. Their Sopa Azteca with chicken is my favorite anywhere, and the fried tortilla strips they serve as the crunchy topping for the soup are addictively good. Their patacones are my favorites of that dish too! Thin, crispy, and delicious! Their Cantonese rice is flavorful, and a decent facsimile of Chinese fried rice. The place is large enough that we've never had to wait for a table. When we want a tasty flavorful meal, it's our go to. Their food has more depth of flavor and seasoning than is typical for Tico restaurants making similar dishes.

American ex-pats here, live right around the corner. I love this place. The food, especially Chifrio, Chicharrones, fried fish/shrimp, is really good in both quality and taste. Great place to watch a soccer game, catch up with a friend, or sit at the bar and watch the world go by. The owner is friends with a wonderful Costa Rican family we know and love, and he creates a respectful and fun atmosphere. Oh, and the ceviche is super good and fresh.

Had the Chifrijo. Outstanding. Simply a must try.

First time eating at this place. We were amazed. We are from Heredia and we are sure to be back soon.

A previous houseguest left a bottle of their salsa behind. I don’t like eggs but with some sprinkles of this VERY hot sauce I was eating them regularly. Knew we had to go to check out their food. It was AMAZING! The staff were incredibly kind and the menu had lots of variety. We will definitely be coming back here.
