Rating: 4.4 / 5 stars 🤩 : fresh, good vibes 🤧 : slightly long wait for food Tucked away in a corner street, nested on the second floor, this chicken place truly has what it takes to be a hidden gem. Visited on a Saturday afternoon just after opening time at 3pm and there were already patrons waiting for their chickens. Ordered a portion of mixed chicken to share and was pleased with the portion that arrived. A whole chicken, fried tteokpokki and potato wedges. There was no need for any other accompanying carbs. To pair with the chicken and sides, ranch and hot sauce were provided on the side. Food was good. Nothing too impressive; flavours and textures were familiar and expected. Preparation took a little long though (~20 mins), and it felt even longer for the hungry me. While waiting, you’re kept entertained by 80/90s rock music, children snacks, water, and even power banks. Appreciate the service, which made this place feel homely - i would totally be a regular if I lived in Seoul. Given that food takes some time to be served, and that this is a small outfit, be prepared for some wait during peak periods.

I've always wanted to try chimek in Seoul and yes this restaurant has made great justice my expectation! The chicken was juicy and crunch with the flavours distinct ! And the pairing with the draft beer was on point! Seriously if you're at mapo this is a hidden place to try chimek! Chicken + mekju! The portion is huge so if you're alone better to get the half portion and if youre in a group then, enjoy multiple flavour! But just bear in mind since they fry the chicken upon placinv order you will need to wait for sometime. And just order through the ipad!

I love this little place! The fried chicken was honestly way better than I expected — so crispy, flavorful, and just really satisfying. It completely surprised me in the best way. The service was great, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The prices are also much better compared to the big branded shops, which makes it even more worth it. I did notice it was full of Western customers — maybe they know a hidden gem when they see one! Either way, it’s definitely a spot I’d recommend and come back to again.

Some of the best fried chicken I’ve had ever. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly and was delicious. They play almost all 90-2000s rock so we had a ball. Will always visit when in Seoul.

I’m sitting in my childhood bedroom in New Jersey dreaming about how good my meal here was. The whole time leading up to my trip to Seoul, I knew I needed to eat quintessential Korean fried chicken and Chicken in the Kitchen was exactly that. One of my friends is vegetarian so we shared the vegan boneless wings alondside their vegan mayo which was delicious! The actual chicken left me speechless. Every flavor was to die for. I loved the ambience in there as well! Thank you :)

I really enjoyed the vegan fried chicken (mushroom) and onion rings. I didn’t eat the real chicken, so I can’t comment on that sorry! Very friendly server and relaxed vibe, with nice music. It’s hidden away on a side street but don’t miss out this neighbourhood gem! Last order is at 11pm, or earlier if they sell out.

A small cosy little establishment serving great fried chicken and amazing vibes! We arrived at the dimly lit place with 80s/90s rock songs as the backdrop to our meal. We tried the boneless soy and parmesan chicken, which was crispy and seasoned perfectly. The mushrooms (vegan chicken) were also crispy and juicy with every bite. The goose island craft beer was a perfect combination with the fried chicken! Overall, a highly recommended place for the best chimaek experience!

The best VEGAN Chicken EVER!! I heard this place was features in the BBC as one of the best Korean chicken spots, and I can’t now I get to try their vegan chicken here! It’s made from king oyster mushrooms, and the texture is incredible. The taste is absolutely delicious too. Double thumbs up!!
