"The Paradise Valley Playground A 20-minute drive from the northern Yellowstone boundary, nestled under the wing of the Absaroka Mountains in Montana’s Paradise Valley, the Chico Hot Springs are an exercise in rejuvenation, and must feature on any Yellowstone travel itinerary. Native Americans first used the bubbling springs for cleaning laundry and for bathing, while today the spring pools are enjoyed by families year-round. Chico Hot Springs Resort features rustic log cabins, chalets, luxury cottages and traditional suites. The resort outfits horseback rides, rafting trips, dogsled treks and more, while dinner in the Chico Hot Springs Dining Room is one of the finest Western gastro experiences you’ll ever encounter; the BBQ bison short-rib ravioli is a revelation."

Yelp
Need to break down the review. Restaurants/gift shop were all 5+. Front desk, not so much. Attended a family reunion where I had possibly one of the finest pieces of beef ever, a sentiment shared by many others in our group. I've eaten at Bern's and Peter Luger's and this filet was all of that and more. The other meal was BBQ which also was perfectly done. Last night there, bowed out of the rodeo in Livingston and treated myself to fresh rainbow trout. Bryan, my waiter, was spot on with service and wine recommendation. 6 stars for him! Sad part was how the front desk was upon our arrival. Horrendous. The young "lady" with the nose ring has no business being anywhere around customers. If there had been other accommodations nearby I would have stayed there. Word of caution, not all rooms have en suite bathrooms. In the main lodge, you may be sharing a toilet down the hall. On the plus side, we moved to the Fisherman's Lodge and had deer in the backyard.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I read several reviews before our visit and anticipated a great experience based on what we read. However, the reality fell short. It took us some time to locate the pool area, as you have to walk through the bar to reach it, which had an unpleasant smell. The locker rooms were cold, and the showers only had cold water--an unexpected disappointment. As for the pools, they were decent, but the constant jumping and shouting of children made it difficult to relax. Moving to the hotter pool improved things slightly, though it wasn't free from splashing. Overall, the experience felt mediocre, with the space feeling cramped and somewhat isolated.

Yelp
Called to make a dinner reservation for our 43rd wedding Anniversary and was told I needed to make it online. Went online and found out I needed to secure with my credit card. Guess what - we will eat elsewhere Missing the local touch it used to have

Yelp
This review is for the dining room only. (well, actually the bar) Based on rave recommendations from locals, we drove up from Yellowstone. We did not have a reservation, but thinking they would surely have some tables available for drop-in diners. This was incorrect. :D Front desk staff gave correct information, but did not seem especially friendly or welcoming. Maybe they are more so to resort guests rather than non-guests. Since the dining room was full, we were directed to the tiny bar, where we were quickly able to find a seat and order a meal. Based on recommendations from locals, we ordered both prime rib & filet, which we were assured would be the best we've had. This was a decent meal, but definitely NOT even in the top 5 prime rib dinners I've had. The meat was tender and cooked to my taste, and warm but not hot. The horseradish onion sauce was good, but was refrigerator-cold. The mashed potatoes were room temp, as were the green beans. My dining partner's filet meal was all slightly warmish. He said the steak was good but not exceptional. Drinks were all superb, and server was doing her best in a small but very busy room. This leads me to wonder whether our food sat a bit before being brought out. Desserts were very good. It was fun to watch them making the flaming orange desserts, all the diners ooh'd and ahhh'd when it happened, which made it a festive experience. The ambience was really cool, and probably adds a lot to the overall experience in the main room. Bar stools were surprisingly comfortable.

Yelp
I have been a loyal visitor to Chico Hot Springs since childhood and have always appreciated the charm and quality of this resort. However, my recent stay in the Fisherman's Lodge was disappointing. My wife and I both left with numerous bed bug bites, which caused significant discomfort. I reached out to management immediately after our stay and again a week later, but their response was slow and ultimately dismissive of the issue. While I understand that bed bugs can happen anywhere, I expected better communication and a more empathetic approach to resolving the situation. This experience has left me hesitant about returning, which is unfortunate given my long history with Chico. I hope they take guest feedback seriously and improve their handling of such incidents in the future.

Yelp
It's all tucked away in the mountain. Front desk people were very nice and we were cracking jokes and stuff. They went out of there way for us for certain things .. I love the whole rustic feel of the place there's a huge history behind it if you read the book in the room about the place. Rooms are kind small in the main lodge.. walls are very thin heard other peoples kids running up and down the hall way yelling. That was the down fall . They do need to fix some stuff like black mold in the windows of the building and the restaurants.. but over all it was nice

Yelp
We stayed here in the middle of our two-day Yellowstone tour and it was the perfect place to relax and recharge in the midst of a busy vacation. While we only got to spend ~12 hours here, I really wish we would have had more time because the resort was absolutely beautiful! We stayed in one of the Conestoga wagons and it was such a fun and unique experience. The only downside is that the wagons are a bit of a hike from the resort itself and we didn't have a car, but the accommodations more than made up for it. The bath house was spotless and clean, and the view from where the wagons are located was breathtaking at sunset. We had dinner in the dining room and it was one of the best meals I had for the entire vacation! I especially loved that they had a well thought out kids menu - my daughter loved ordering a little mocktail. The food and service were both exceptional. After dinner, we enjoyed the hot springs. They were much warmer than I thought they would be but felt AMAZING! Can't speak to the other amenities here but looked like there was lots to do. Maybe someday I'll make it back to this beautiful part of the world and get to experience all that Chico Hot Springs resort has to offer!

Yelp
I was backpacking in the area and figured I would stop in for their breakfast buffet. It was excellent! Friendly staff, rustic surroundings. The buffet consisted of scrambled eggs, gourmet style sausage patties, bacon, assorted fruits, cereal, oatmeal, Homefries (oddly enough my favorite item), variety of breads with flavored cream cheese, and two gourmet pastries (white chocolate scone and some type of muffin). Of course, coffee and a variety of juices too. Current price is $22 per adult. After breakfast, I went to the front desk to get a bracelet for the pool. Front desk staff very attentive and accommodating. Pool itself was clean and perfect temps (96 for big pool and 104ish for the smaller one. Didn't sample any of the drinks from the bar or the grille; but lots of other folks did and those items looked good too. Will definitely go back

Yelp
Incredible service. I had the luxury of Lizzie assisting me pick out a wine that paired with my scallop dish. Ambience is relaxing with the perfect amount of light. I sat by the front of the dinning room and enjoyed being to see the outdoors while I waited for my meal. I also indulged in French onion soup and a berry cobbler that I could not finish. The cobbler was served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. It was a perfect staycation and I will definitely be back again...soon.

Yelp
A unique, full of character, rustic, and historic spot near Livingston, Montana. Surrounded by views and vistas, this sprawling property has been in use since 1900 (probably much longer, but I don't yet know local Native American history, nor did I see much cited about that on the property). I stayed in the motel area up the hill from the main lodge, conference center, and pools. Lovely views out the window, but very dated rooms and poor wifi if you need to check your work email. The lodge is quirky and folksy, but lovable and the hot springs pool area felt a bit like a suburban motel pool, but I enjoyed my short (2 day stay). The pool is hot indeed, 102-104 degrees, so I would have loved a colder pool to alternate with and swim laps in, but this place has been around since 1900 and needs no advice from me!

Yelp
Bar food! Good service and fun atmosphere. The server guys were great. And after dinner we soaked with a drink! Good for a new experience

Yelp
Stopped here on our way back to Bozeman from Yellowstone for some comfort food: I got the chicken fingers with their homemade huckleberry bbq sauce, truffle fries + chico's sauce, & coleslaw and it was the perfect thing after a day of xc skiing in the park. Oh and the sweet potato waffle fries were really good too. The staff was super friendly and put on both the hockey game and the basketball game that we asked for. We didn't soak this time but the pool looked very nice and warm and not too crowded on a Wednesday evening in late February.

Yelp
Because the bar is such a big part of the Chico Hot Springs facility, the spring pool felt more like a college spring break than being at a relaxing spa. Almost everyone in the hot pool had a drink and was loud and obnoxious. The facilities are poorly maintained and scrappy.

Yelp
Let's start off with our qualifications. We owned an Inn in northern California for nearly 27 years. This is a pre-review of our stay. The furniture is decrepit. Attention to detail is lacking. We entered our room with one bath towel and four face towels. Simple things like attention to detail. All the lampshades were tilted. Sconces were tilted. Beds were somewhat messy. One of the windows had no screen, but it was open and flies were flying in the room. Coffee maker didn't have a lid. Hair in the bathtub. Sink counter had toothpaste smeared on it not cleaned. Basically for $270 a night with a discount I did not expect it. For me. I'm not a pompous person. But for this resort, they're headed towards a A two star. This is a classy place and we've been here for multiple years and this is the worst I've ever seen it. Stay tuned. Update mid review. We canceled tomorrow nights reservations for dinner as we decided to eat elsewhere. After seeing the dinner they served to us and the poor rushed service I went up to the front desk to cancel the next night only to discover they instead canceled our room! Dinner was absolutely horrible and overpriced. I have never written a review this bad. The people that work here seem under a lot of pressure from the corporation. Personalities are lacking and rushed. The people at the front desk simply argued with me that I canceled the overnight reservation for tomorrow night instead of apologizing for the mistake they made as we simply canceled our dinner reservations. Not once did they back down and consider they made a mistake. When a corporation picks up a mom and pop business the only direction is downhill. Employees expressed concern as I had a conversation with a few of them. Good luck, Chico Hot Springs. you'll either fail or get really expensive. Cheers. Post review coming tomorrow after we check out. We love this place but since the CORPORATION purchased it last August, I have no idea what direction it will go. In the end when we checked out of our room the price had increased approx $100 and we had to wait an hour or so to talk to the manager who then told us when they add AAA discounts or similar the room price defaults to the regular higher price which is more! To make matters even worse approx four hours after we left to continue our vacation elsewhere the manager called us in Bozeman and asked us if we still wanted to keep our dinner reservations we originally cancelled for that night! WHAT!!! Really!! We fell through every crack known in the organization. The only good part is Charles the General Manager calling us so we could vent. I trust he may see and make the needed changes this wonderful resort needs and deserves for future guests and families.

Yelp
Very sad to write this not so glamorous review after our this years annual stay in September. We have been coming here annually for some time and on and off since early 80's. I am not big on writing reviews but chose to write this one. I would give 5 stars to the restaurant wait staff and kitchen as they once again performed in our case. Great meals and courteous staff even if they were short staffed. I managed to leave some things of value behind and soon after our departure called the front desk. I was transferred to house keeping and their VM. Instructions was to email them and they would get back to us, which we did immediately. Between our stay mid Sep and Oct 7th I made numerous attempts to reach house keeping as I had not heard back. I asked to speak to the manager which resulted in yet another VM that went unanswered. I called the front desk for the managers email and was told that they were not allowed to give it out and even refused to give me the name of the Hotel manager. I found her email in a review! I wrote her an email regarding my left behind items and got a reply same day to my surprise but not to my surprise an excuse that they are way too busy to address the lost and found, and asked for my patience. 7 days later I wrote again and once again got a same day reply with an other excuse that "bear with us" and they would have time to look into this in the next 5 days. Well, that was mid October and today is October 30th so it has been 6 weeks since our stay and still no word. As for the front desk they were friendly upon our check-in but down right rude at the time when I had to call about my left behind items. A friend who stayed there looked into my left behind items and not surprisingly not to be found. Hmmm, makes you wonder who has them now. I gave the rating 3 stars only because of the restaurant/kitchen. As for the managements attention to detail and customer service, a 1 star would be too much. Respectfully,

Yelp
Awesome spot for a relaxing day when traveling! We made a half day trip to Chico Hot Springs after a long day of traveling. What an awesome spot! Super laid back, really helpful staff, and a gorgeous location. It is such a deal at only $10 per person and a couple dollars more to rent a towel. They also have all the free water you would like. The water is warm, but was really comfortable, it is pumped from the spring into the pool! We also ate at Chico while we were there and all of the food was really good! Additionally you can stay at the resort and they have lots of activities. Definitely a worthy spot to relax on a vacation but also seemed to be a hot spot for locals as we met many whole hanging out! PS: the drive there is second to none.

Yelp
I was there over Thanksgiving break with the family and this was my favorite hot springs. I originally thought I wouldn't like only having 2 pools but it turned out great! The grounds also had a restaurant and a bar that you can order from. I really enjoyed having a drink while I was in the pools. Such a big plus! These pools actually got drained often to be cleaned due to the high amount of minerals that are in the water. So so nice. This is why you go to a hot spring vs. a gym hot tub. I plan to return

Yelp
Never coming back here. Used to come here as a nostalgic annual thing with my family. Spent a lot of money at their restaurant. Has to cancel my reservation tonight due to illness. Zero sympathy from the restaurant. They wanted to charge me $50 to cancel. I laughed cause they never took my card info but nor did they ever state a cancellation policy at time of booking. Just lost my business permanently. Way to care about a buck over your customers. Also this place is dingy, mediocre and unclean.

Yelp
I have attempted to contact Guest Services three times to order a gift card and their VRU will not transfer me to a person and nobody calls me back when I leave a message.

Yelp
Drove up from Gardiner and not disappointed. Cool place with friendly service. Just hung out in hot pool and enjoyed a few drinks from the pool bar.

Yelp
The saloon was not that busy when we first got there on a Tuesday late afternoon. And then about 75 from a group came in. So service was slow - but not for the servers - they were hustling. The menu isn't huge but we started with wings with their dry rub. They were good, but small and a little heavy on the rub. We decided to split a burger with fries and share the jalapeño poppers with huckleberry jam. Both good but not exceptional. The venue is fun, and it's a great place to people watch. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

Yelp
I have stayed at Chico Hot springs a number of times over the years and it has always provided a decent level of service. However, I needed to arrive early in the morning this time and was hoping that they could accommodate me a little with a check-in earlier than their guarantee of 4pm. They would not even hear my request, and said the have no control over getting a room ready for me a bit earlier. This is really frustrating and I am tired waiting 6 hours so far with no accommodation.

Yelp
Corporate buyout last year. Diamondrock, who owns "exclusive" properties. Rates for everything through the roof. Cannot get dinner reservation by phone anymore, online only. Cannot reach anyone by phone, actually. I guessed the single digit number to bypass the reservation system, which is dial 1. Got a very curt woman who somewhat angrily transferred me to front desk. May be the corporate way to bypass the automated reservation system, if I had to guess. Even went to front desk tonight to make reservation next week for rooms, have out of state visitor. Answer was, "no, have to do online" REALLY? All costs at least doubled. Room lower lodge very high cost, about $400night, with no microwave, TV, or a/c. Priced the "Caboose": $900 per night. Still, even Bozeman C'mon in $200/night in summer. Restaurant is still very good with happy servers, some long employed. Breakfast buffet no longer great. Look up Diamondrock real estate online, give you immediate knowledge of what they are about, and why this happened. Sale price apparently $33,000,000. In their defense, lots of $$ to recoup. And, can't be too hard on them, looking at review probably am. Still same nice atmosphere and long-standing staff. Staff staying around for many years says a lot about management running organization. Been in Montana all my life, and historically, Chico always had difficulty keeping in the black, from reputation. Changed owners frequently because of this. And Montana has changed. Moved back here 1991 From LA. I'm native, Out of state influx just starting then. Back here early 90s at Chico, Meg Ryan playing piano in lobby, and husband Dennis Quaid bartending, trying to be incognito, dressed as cowboy. Suspected it was an omen. Prices for real estate so cheap, irresistible to outsiders. Influx continues to this day, but takes more capital to accomplish. Prices are up now. Natives cannot afford to buy a house anywhere in this area. So, only big, well capitalized corporations may be able to buy into still relatively inexpensive market to wealthy outsiders. If I had to focus on main issue, it's not being able to get a human being on the phone anymore. And, can't make a reservation at front desk in person?? Must go online??No. That's just wrong. Seems old school, but was just nice thing about old Chico. And being around 100 years old, it is old. Also priced Sage Lodge close by. $1400/night. So, keep upgrading rating. Stick with Chico. It's the real thing but relatively, not overpriced, I think. But they really have to bring back personal touch. Not allowing front desk staff to make any reservations at all is just wrong. So 3 stars for that, otherwise 5. Just one thing to fix.

Yelp
Dined at the historic dining room in Chico hot springs. Great location and such a classy dining experience. It's a very old fashioned dining restaurant, food is great and the customer service was top notch. Had the blue cheese steak, 10/10! The orange flambé for dessert was a real treat! They light it up table side. Excited to dine here again.

Yelp
Such a cool spot! Highly suggest for a unique experience Having cocktails in warm natural hot springs at night, need I say more?

Yelp
On a work trip, expectations for culinary experiences may not be high, but unfortunately, this restaurant didn't offer anything particularly special. One of the primary issues we encountered was the service. It felt overloaded and somewhat slow, which was a disappointment, especially when time is of the essence. The food, when it finally arrived, was not up to par. The potatoes were notably overcooked, a detail that didn't go unnoticed. On a positive note, they did have a commendable selection of beers, and the location itself was quite appealing. As part of a resort, it seems they excel, but for those passing with limited time, it can be a bit overwhelming. The restaurant tends to get crowded, which can be the root of the main problem here. In summary, while the restaurant has its strengths, such as the beer selection and location within the resort, the overall dining experience left much to be desired, primarily due to service issues and overcrowding.

Yelp
The hot springs was interesting - more like a public pool. The poolside grill was overpriced and super slow but the food was decent. Horse-riding was a positive experience and a highlight of the trip for those that went.

Bridget I.

Yelp
It is a disgrace they do not have mini splits for air-conditioning,even if it is only hot for 2 months, we should not pay high stay rates in summer if it is too hot in the room to sleep, you can do better

christine m.

Yelp
Been enjoying Chico for many years but unfortunately after the sale to a hospitality corporation the customer service has gone downhill. I requested my reservations to be cancelled well within the required timeframe and they cancelled all but one and still charged me for it. Can not get through to anyone except voicemail and no one will return my call. The prices have increased with no upgrade to the old beds which are very uncomfortable. They can't even fix or replace the swimsuit spinner in the ladies room. It's been broken for months. Super lame

Yelp
Great place to relax your bones and yet fairly close to Yellowstone & Bozeman Montana greatly recommend this place .

Yelp
This place is wonderful, my girlfriend and I enjoyed a soak and a couple beers. Years ago I remember having an awesome dinner here as well!

Yelp
Always a great place to soak, eat good food and stay at for a weekend! We've been coming to Chico for years to vacation and get away for a while! Family friendly as well!

Yelp
Very underwhelming IMHO. Old and nothing worked correctly. The hot springs weren't even hot. Just warm. This place was boring. No thanks. Won't be back.

Yelp
Having been served beef Wellington at several restaurants over the years I was looking forward to having my Daughters Birthday dinner a special occasion. Unfortunately, the Wellington was not Prime as advertised, it was tough and had to be cut with a serrated knife. The dough was tasteless and appeared to be premade and not fresh. Times two

Yelp
Beware when making online reservations here. We made a reservation through their website (and received a confirmation email) only to be disappointed. After driving a bit with no service, we received an email and voicemail stating that our reservation had been cancelled. We returned the call right after, and explained how we had cancelled a camping reservation and were really disappointed, given that we were left scrambling trying to find another place to stay at (we were on a tight budget). The first young lady was very understanding and kind, and offered us the opportunity to talk to her manager. We then spoke to the manager, Deborah, who told us that there had been a "computer glitch" on their end causing them to overbook a room. We politely asked if they could honor the rate for any other room that night, given that it was a mistake they made and we were on a pretty tight budget. We had booked a room for $111 and were only given options $230+. Deborah condescendingly told us that she could not accommodate us for the same price we were promised when we booked and that we could go to a dispersed camping location instead. She then abruptly cut us off and told us that we could speak to her boss, Amy, and transferred us to her voicemail. While I understand that "glitches" can happen, I don't think Chico Hot Springs took proper responsibility and made things right.

Yelp
We stayed in a room with three beds and a decent bathroom, close to the hot springs spa/pool. The room was decent. I enjoyed: the huckleberry shake at the cafe and other meals they served, the Moscow mule drink at the restaurant, horseback riding during an eclipse, floating down the river on a raft, one of the most beautiful and peaceful experiences I've had, and sitting in their pool of water from the hot springs. I did not like the massage that I received. It did not meet my expectations. I've had better at the foot massage places. I also did not like the steak I ordered at their fancy restaurant. It was super dry and hard. I could've cooked at better steak at home. The other fancy dishes did not meet the expectations of good quality food, especially for the price paid.

Yelp
There are extra charges that were put on my card without permission. I was traveling cross country to visit friends and we stopped at Chicos hot springs to enjoy the healing water. First I will say, we enjoyed ourselves and had a lovely time. Though it was a little overcrowded. We found a lounge chair we could share. Need more seating area around here. The ice cream was really good, my friend had a cocktail. I'm really confused about the entry fee. I thought it was $12 dollars per person. But there is a $44 dollar charge on my card. When we arrived The girl with the braids was nice to my friend who wanted to order a drink, but for some odd reason very ignorant and dismissive to me. All three of us put our credit cards on the counter to pay for entry. The girl suggested my friend open a tab cause she wanted to buy a drink. Then She grabbed MY card, didn't even say hello to me or my other friend, put a tab on my card and charged my card $44 dollars, and a separate $8.00 is also on my statement. She also took my friends cards too and charged her for the drink. How much is the entry fee? Why did you charge my card $44 and not the other girls is beyond me. I never said I was paying for the whole group. I put my card up to pay for ONE entry fee, never even agreed to a "tab". BUT then at the end when I asked the girl with braids if she had my card open on the account, she acted like she never took my card. I tried to remind her that she took my card and opened an account. The girl raises her voice, "I didn't take your card!" Wo! Relax! Yikes! I just got out of the healing water I am not feeling this absurd vibe she is putting off. Are you serious? Aren't I supposed to sign something? She was really just aggressive and RUDE.. telling me she didn't have the card when I'm trying to explain she took my card in the beginning and had my account open. It's all about your tone lady that can put someone in a bad mood. Now it was like a mission for me to help her remember cause I know I'm not crazy and I know I gave HER my card and she's trying to say it never happened so either she's delusional or it's the hot water getting to me. She finally bothered to check and lo and behold, she DID indeed have my card open on her register. She DID take my card. She's just rude. Then I showed her that she charged me for the other girls and she rolled her eyes and said "I think you can figure it out and Venmo $12 dollars to each other." WOW. Instead of being rude and yelling at me, you could have some patience. You should have just refunded my card and charged us each individually but being it was such a process to communicate with her peaceably, I was done. She told me she has over 600 tabs to look over and she doesn't remember everyone.. are you rude to any of them? Her comments were unnecessary, you could have just apologized for the misunderstanding, charge us all properly for what we spent and diffuse the problem. I know you don't remember me because you didn't even look at me or say hello when you snatched my card. I just don't understand why you charged me $44, instead of $36 for 3.. did you add a tip? Cause I know I def didn't give you one!!!! $44 dollars, which is more than the amount for the entry fee. I'm guessing the extra $8.00 charge was for ice cream. But why is there a $44 AND an $8 charge? The girl with long braids) charged my friend for her drink separately, and perhaps charged me for her drink and three entries. I'm not sure. My advice for people coming here is don't "open a tab"with your credit card open on the bartenders register as they can add whatever they want to it, and then yell at you when you ask them to close it. Then you get home to find more charges than you spent there. There was no need for her to argue with me and to raise her voice at me very confrontational and she said others had the same misunderstanding with her. Perhaps some training is needed so there are no misunderstandings with your customers.

Yelp
What a great way to end a week of hiking in Yellowstone NP. We stayed in the Fisherman's Lodge - wonderful room with two queen beds and a great yard with chairs. We sat every evening and watched the sunset over the mountains as the stars came out. The hot springs were just the medicine weary bones needed to soak away any soreness. The saloon is very cool. The staff were ALL excellent - friendly and helpful. There were so many places to sit, relax and enjoy the lovely setting. We hiked to the pond and back - beautiful and steep. We also got massages which were excellent. The restaurant is excellent and worth every penny. The drink prices are the best deal anywhere. There were so many options to stay from old, rustic, historic to new, modern and sleek suites. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
We went to the hot springs back at the end of July. They were limiting the number of people allowed in to the pool area due to COVID and masks were required indoors. Drinks & food were available... you could order at the window without having to go inside. They had a nice selection of beers and other beverages. We had a yummy huckleberry vodka pink lemonade slushie. Yum! We enjoyed our visit very much and would definitely go back!

Yelp
Just had dinner at the bar. Food was ok (burgers, quesadillas, and fries.). Server - Bucky - not so good. Had to ask his name. Slow service-although to be fair- he seemed the only one working at 4 pm.

Yelp
It's clear that the people who run this place take pride in the establishment and care for the guests. We stayed in an affordable 2-bed room in historic lodge w/ sink in main lodge and it was thoughtfully appointed and very clean, as well as the shared bathrooms. The restaurant staff was excellent, for breakfast they had no chef (hard to staff w covid), so it was continental, but truly thoughtful continental-- great quality fresh bagels from town with good spreads, house-baked scones and muffins, fruit, Greek yogurt... a decent value even if not cooked to order. The saloon is an authentic local place serving house-made soups (the cream of mushroom was excellent). The hot pools were large, clean, and fantastic. A fun place to play tag with kids, to sit and have wine with adults, even to lap swim. At night in winter the steam rises and creates a wonderful atmosphere-- like floating in a heavenly cloud. The gift shop is also well done and thoughtfully sourced. Even the maintenance team would often greet me with a smile. I used to oversee park concessions for the National Park Service, and would regularly perform facility inspections. My visit exceeded high expectations. I hope to come back and to bring my entire family.

Yelp
We stayed in a cabin on the lower 40. Loved the hammock outside. Enjoyed the hot spring pool. Dinner in the dining room was wonderful and our server, Brittany, was wonderful- get the flaming orange.

Yelp
The saloon (that bar is a gem) and nice staff got this 2-stars; the lodging is just plain bad. We stayed at the Lower Lodge, and other than perhaps a sub-par overlay of the tub, no meaningful investment has been made in the rooms since they were built (likely 30+ years ago). Beds are rough and have a big slump in the middle, all furniture is wore out/dinged up/etc, plugs are so loose they aren't functional, almost no natural light - and for the window we had the bug screens were old and loose and were very noisy with any wind. There is rustic/old/charming and then there is wore out/not invested in... this place is the latter. The real kicker was the price point... it was an astronomical price compared to the quality of the accommodations. But if you're in the area, I would for sure recommend the saloon - great staff and good food and drinks!

Yelp
Place is trash. Too many kids. No views. Water felt disgusting. Locker rooms were horrendous.

Yelp
Words cannot describe Chico, as a first timer and my boyfriend a lifer, I was skeptical (he tends to hype things up) upon driving up I was already in awe. Chico is nestled right in the middle of heaven, pictures do not do it justice. We settled into our room, small but worked for us and headed to the pool. The pool is perfect temp, walk up bar window and access to the saloon. Our first day we were blessed with sunshine and our last was picturesque with light snow fall. We ate in the saloon (flat bread and burger was a hit) and the dining room (NO WORDS, SO GOOD) we soaked, hiked and met some amazing people. Chico stole my heart and I don't even want it back. I am now converted into a lifer. Every 1600 mile driven was worth it.

Yelp
This place is a well oiled machine. First for the hotel...there are a variety of lodging options available. There are rooms in the main lodge, with or without bathrooms. They have shared hallway bathrooms for rooms that don't have a bathroom. I love that there are no TVs!! The rooms are very rustic-not fancy. They are just a quiet place to rest. The hot springs were HOT! Relaxing and fun. For the dining options...The Poolside Grille has burgers, fries, ice cream and more. The Saloon is where you want to go for drinks, a little gambling and atmosphere. The fine dining is just that-fine dining. There really should be a review opportunity solely for the fine dining. They have narrowed this down to a science. They take reservations and I would highly recommend making one. This was one of the best meals I have ever had-from beginning to end. Started with the Spinach Salad-absolutely delicious. The dinner was the stand out- 2-4 oz filets on beds of either potatoes or a mushroom mix. I savored every bite. The meal did not stop there! The Almond Joy cake was out of this world-coconut and chocolate perfection! Alongside my meal, I enjoyed sparkling wine, and red wine with the meat. All wines paired very well with the meal. I can't say enough good things about the fine dining! Finally, I have left so many things out of this review-the little store is perfectly charming with a coffee shop and gift shop. They have a variety of trinkets, post cards and other goodies to take home. Chico Hot Springs is a must for anyone traveling in this area!

Yelp
I love this place! The ambiance is unparalleled, the service is 5 stars! However, today I ordered a $50 bison steak that was served with what I'm sure is the same saline material that they use to keep their roads ice free in the winter. Fritos aren't as salty. The restaurant is wonderful and I whole heatedly recommend it, just don't order the bison ribeye! My heart is bleeding for the poor bison who gave up their ribeye for this, Thing Disappointed is a tremendous understatement. Chico, you're better than this..

Yelp
So much fun to be had. We went on a lovely horseback ride & rounded out the day with a soak. Our wrangler, Dalaney, was energetic, friendly and a real pleasure to ride with. Soaking in the healing, warm, hot springs was just what we needed after riding. Family friendly & a real Montana experience.
