I went on "Liberation Day" so there were big crowds outside with a dance party going on, but inside it was quiet and gorgeous with intricate carvings and colors all around. Definitely worth a step inside!

Very impressive
More than 2000 sculptors have modeled more than 100 figures.
In the 1950s, the ceiling, which was destroyed during the war, was renovated.
Based on black and white photos, the painter has released the colors.
Note Snoop Dig as Jesus in the big window at the end 🤪

A true masterpiece in the heart of Palermo.
The church is filled with breathtaking marble work and incredible art in every corner.
With a ticket, you can enjoy a small guided tour near the altar and visit a 2 floor museum. The museum is small but the church is really worthy.
A wonderful and enriching experience that’s well worth the visit.

The details and architecture of this church are absolutely stunning. There’s so much going on, you could walk around for hours and still find new details. It’s very fascinating. There’s a museum part as well which showcases some interesting items too. Definitely worth a visit and not too expensive (6€). In my eyes, a must see in Palermo!

Absolutely beautiful!!! The artwork, marble statues and carvings were extremely impressive and definitely a sight to see. The festive activities outside the Church were in full celebration to commemorate Italy’s Liberation Day.

Absolutely stunning church! Looks like it was recently restored, perfect condition. We came in and a wedding was about to start, so we couldn’t get the full extent, but we were able to sit in rear pews to admire the church

The incredible details in the creation of this church are overwhelming, in a good way. We have visited many fantastic churches during our travels, but none have matched the artistry that you will find and the Casa Professa. If you are in Palermo and have to make a choice, make this your choice.

The roof and some parts were destroyed during world war and reconstructed.

Chiesa del Gesù is a national monument of Italy. If it was placed in Rome we would all know about it. As a natural consequence of this it is one of the most important churches from the Baroque in Sicily. Built by the jesuits and their architect Tristano. The shape is that of a Latin cross. Richly decorated with polychrome marbles, stucco and frescoes. The marble reliefs with their figural and ornamental motifs on the pillars and the marble mosaics are unique. The impression on you visiting this church is a mighty thing. And the contrast to the surrounding streets and piazzas kind of hard to cope with. If only you could think of visiting one church in Palermo, beside the Doumo, this is the one.
