I finally made it to Chila Killer Cafe after hearing so many great things, and it mostly lived up to the hype. There's a dedicated parking lot which made things super convenient, and the space inside is roomy with plenty of tables. It looks like they even have a second dining room next door for when things get extra busy.
Service was superb. The staff were attentive, respectful, and friendly throughout our brunch. The menu is extensive, and I appreciated how flexible it was. You can easily swap out proteins or sides for options like salad, soup, or home fries.
Based on several recommendations, including our server's, I went with the chilaquiles topped with carnitas. The dish looked great and came with fresh veggies, queso, sour cream, and sunny side up eggs. While the first few bites were delicious, the carnitas ended up being quite dry and the fried tortillas quickly turned soggy after a few minutes, which made the rest of the dish a bit of a mess.
That said, I definitely had food envy watching other tables get eggs benedict and the churro French toast. Both looked amazing and made me wish I had ordered something else. Portion sizes were generous and the space felt clean, modern, and comfortable.
I would definitely come back to try different menu items or even one of the daily specials posted on the board near the open kitchen.
