Yelp
This will be a bit of a review, so the TLDR; they can't cook tofu, add any level of spice and everything is absurdly overpriced.
Man, I really had high expectations of this place after reading the reviews. We just moved back to Ventura this month, and Thai food is my favorite cuisine--especially fried tofu and yellow curry. Often I make my own, but in my old town I had a few amazing go-to places. Anyway, we spent roughly 130ish through DoorDash on 4 entries and 3 apps. I know DoorDash has elevated prices (17.99 a main and 10-14 an appetizer), but even then it seemed a bit pricy. Figured it could be worth it with bigger portions and leftovers though.
We ordered: satay tofu, crispy fried tofu, fried veggie rolls, yellow curry, sweet and sour tofu, fried rice with tofu, and a side of sweet and sour sauce (for 2.50).
Positives: Food was super hot and fresh! Everything we ordered was there (minus the cutlery we asked for), containers had a great seal and didn't leak, food was made quickly. Also, all food is edible. I like that the rice is separated from the entrees.
Negatives (sorry): Portions are small, tofu is horribly raw, food is bland and/or way too oily.
Satay tofu: This was the worst dish. For 14 bucks it was half the amount shown in the picture. It was approximately 1 block of tofu cut into 4 pieces, unpressed, and completely raw. Even the lettuce underneath was saturated by the water leaking out. It was incredibly mushy and unflavored. I could have gotten that at my local store for 2 bucks. We plan to season it and recook it (I don't like wasting food, but oooof). What a waste of money. 0/10
Crispy fried tofu: Meh. Once again not cooked properly and the portion was small. I would expect this portion for about 7 bucks max, and this is my go-to appetizer at Thai places. 4/10
Fried veggie eggrolls: My partner hated them and called them mushy, but I didn't mind them too much (especially after eating the raw mushy tofu). I liked the garlic flavor but we only got 4 for like 12 bucks! 5/10
Yellow curry: This is the dish that initially made me love Thai food, but my god they messed this one up. Normally I've seen carrots, onion, potato, peas, broccoli and tofu--this one didn't have peas or broccoli. That's totally fine, the problem was everything they did include. Potatos basically tasted like a mashed potato--so overcooked. Once again the tofu was under, but a lot better than the other dishes. The curry was awful. Very, very thin, super sweet, and super oily. We ordered it 3x spice and there was none. Overall very gross. I make it 10x better in my crockpot at home. 2/10.
Garlic green bean tofu: Liked the flavor, but again no spice (3x) and undercooked tofu. Small amount of tofu included as well for 17.99. 5/10
Sweet and sour tofu: Getting repetitive here, but under-portioned, no spice, raw tofu. If you order something as spicy as possible you would think there would be some kind of spice! I would expect this dish to cost 7 bucks, not 18. 6/10
Fried rice with tofu: This one was okay, but lacking seasoning. Raw tofu...no spice...you know the deal by now. 6/10
Side sauces: Frustrated that it was 2.50 for a side of sweet and sour but at least it tasted okay. The other sauces the dishes came with were not good. We also didn't get any cutlery which was a bit annoying considering how much we ordered.
Overall, I probably won't come back here. I know I paid more because of DoorDash, but even after checking the website prices it's just not worth it. Stay far, far, far away from the tofu, especially the satay tofu. It looks absolutely nothing like the picture. You're better off buying a brick of it in the store and eating it raw. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but this was just such a miss for basic things. I would expect any Thai restaurant to know how to cook tofu, add any type of spice (especially when you have the option of 3x spice), and season their food for this price point.
