"Cheap, delicious Thai food coming right up. This brightly lit, nondescript joint with no-nonsenseservice is packed witheager foodies and has been for more than two decades. Loyalists come for dishes like the tongue-burning Thai beef salad and the delicoussteamed fish, as well as all kinds of curries, basil fried rice, deep-fried prawn patties, stir-fried morning glory, and lots more—the menu is practically a book. Chili Club isn’t big on carefulpresentation or fancyattitudes; the place thrives by virtue of its food. Period."

Was recommended by friends as they have known the owner for over 20 years. We basically took there advice on recommended dishes aaa one plate came at a time. Each well made starting with coconut drink.

I have been visiting Chili Club for over 15 years, and it never disappoints. I have been in large groups, as a country and solo. The service is always great, the Thai menu is extensive, and prices are very reasonable. Excellent Thai food in Wan Chai.

Stepped in for an early dinner and loved it! Ordered the Thai beef salad, minced pork with basil, sliced beef brisket in yellow curry and chicken fried rice, washed down with an iced lemon tea. The portions are good and every dish was awesome! Easily one of the best meals we’ve had in a while. Our bill including 10% service charge was HK$450. Highly recommended!

Nice atmosphere and ok flavours. Prices are reasonable considering the environment and location. Thai food is famous for being spicy, food appears to have been adapted for the Chinese palate and good for those who cannot handle chilli. The egg omelette is not how Thai people traditionally make it by deep frying in oil, it’s more of a Japanese style omelette over rice. Disappointed with the thai milk tea, it was a bit too watered down. The papaya salad also lacked the burst of flavours found in Bangkok.

As always the food is good if you choose the right dishes. My favourites are the Charcoal Grilled Fillet of Beef served with Spicy Sauce, Baked Rice with Minced Pork and Black Olives and Noodles with Basil. The beef was tender and juicy with a nice charred taste. The sauce that came with it was made with shallots, chinese Parsley, Chili Powder and Lime Juice which was really refreshing. Prices have gone up quite a bit compared to a few years ago.

Always the go-to place when you want some easy comfort food, like Thai fried rice or satay sticks! The service is great too!

Very nice Thai restaurant even for Thais. There are everyday dishes as well as multiple upscale dishes found in Thailand served. Prawn with chili curry was very good, similar to the famous chili crab found in singapore. The beef with basil leaves is very good for Thai standards. It was a shame that only 1 dessert was available when we visited. Other than that everything was good. This place is truly a nice Thai restaurant.

Loved the place - great spring rolls; not many veggie options on the menu, but they are nice enough to convert many of the items into veggie. Reasonable price, great quality food, quiet refuge in an otherwise bustling neighborhood.

Yelp
I like this place!! I think it is a Thai food restaurant run by a Hong Kong family. Prices I will say are mid to expensive depending on how hungry you are? Ambience wise it isn't spectacular but who cares when you have good company and good food? I usually get the red curry and green curry. oh also the tiny bowl of curry does not cover ALL the rice, it would be great if they gave more pieces of chicken. Loved the papaya and pomelo salad and also a lot of flavor to the morning glory. IT IS DELICIOUS. We also had the pad Thai today and that was really yummy as well. I've been going here for a LONG LONG time I am actually curious as to when chili club was open ..... Anyways pay a visit, get the curry and a coconut

Yelp
One of my friends is a regular to this place so I know every time we meet, he's going to suggest we go there, which we've always done. Not that there are not Thai restaurants in Hong Kong but we stick to this place for a few reasons. We've never made a reservation and even though it's a popular place in Wan Chai, we've always found a table. It's usually packed with big groups of both locals and expats and reservation is recommended if you are planning to go with a group. The space is just 'basic': large room with tables placed all around (ask for a table at the window so you can get a view on the street at least!) and a bar facing the dining space. To me, it feels too nude, too much 'eat and leave'. The service is not especially friendly, they would come, take your order, and come back to serve you without much of an interaction. But they're efficient and even at the times the restaurant was full, we've never had to wait for too long. I've ordered a few things on their menu, the star being their curries. I think between the two of us, we've tried them all and we can't decide which one is best; this is something they do really well. Portions are small though, and unless you order rice on the side, you may not leave with a full belly. Another recommendation, if you like fish, is their steamed fish, that comes with a stove tray and finishes cooking at your table. Their prices are fair, with starters ranging from 50-60 HKD and mains around 70-150, on average. I'm convinced you can find better Thai restaurants in Hong Kong, but this place has the basic to just satisfy anyone: good food, ok service, great location...I'm probably coming back next time I meet up with my friend anyway...

Yelp
Up above all the go go bars at Lockhart and Luard Streets, you'll find a gem of a restaurant. Chili Club doesn't have an ounce of ambiance, the lighting is horrific and it's loud, but man- the Thai food is good! I went with a small group, and we ordered several items for the table. The fried shrimp was crispy and delicious, the curry tasted fresh. But the star was the basil fried rice. Just an explosion of flavor. So don't take your girlfriend here to propose, but absolutely come and enjoy the very reasonably priced and delicious food!
