Stayed in Brisbane for a couple nights to see some family before heading north. Is a lovely quiet hostel that’s perfectly situated in the city as you’ve got Roma station just down the road and the city centre just a bit further. The room was a bit small but had brilliant AC that kept the room cooled all day round. The staff of Chill do an amazing job of keeping the kitchen and bathrooms clean and are really kind and helpful. Lastly, a quick shout out to the receptionists that answered our many many questions. Definitely a place worth staying both long/short-term.

I recently stayed at this hostel and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and genuinely traveler-friendly—exactly what you hope for when booking a place that feels like a home base rather than just a bed for the night. One of the standout aspects of my stay was the manager. From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly helpful and friendly, going out of their way to make sure guests felt comfortable and taken care of. Whether it was offering tips on the best local spots, helping coordinate transportation, or just checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. It’s clear that they care about the hostel and the people staying in it. The common areas were clean and inviting, plenty of space for guests to relax, work, or socialize. My room was comfortable and well-maintained, and the facilities—kitchen, bathrooms, and shared spaces—were all kept in great condition. Overall, this hostel exceeded my expectations. It’s a fantastic choice for solo travelers, backpackers, or anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming environment. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it.

My stay at this hostel was ideal for visiting Brisbane and exceeded my expectations (after reading reviews). The hostel is clean and cozy, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The common areas are pleasant, ideal to relax, working online, or meeting other backpackers. The atmosphere is friendly and you really feel welcome here. The service provided by the hostel staff was at a high level – everyone was always helpful and friendly. Special thanks go to Cecelia. From the check-in, she was very friendly, patient, and willing to help with anything that was needed (which is especially appreciated when arriving in Brisbane 🙂)…positive and approachable, gave great local tips and activity recommendations, and most importantly made sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. 👍🏼 Overall, I can recommend ChillBackpackers – great location, excellent services, friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely come back. Thank you! 😊

Huge shout-out to Cecelia — she’s an absolute legend. Super welcoming, helpful, and always happy to go the extra mile to make sure everyone feels comfortable. She really makes the place what it is. Would definitely recommend Chill Backpackers and would happily stay again. Cheers Cecelia for making it such a good experience!

Would not advice anyone to stay here, even though we thought it was fine we now know there are plenty of better places to stay close by. It is an old building and it is obvious. We had a private room, and the window was useless. The room was small and dark. Bathrooms were fine, wish there was some paper to dry your hands. Pillows were not nice, and we were given old, Scratchy blankets. We had an AC which was amazing but could not controll it, so most of the time it was freezing. Staff were fine, nothing bad but nothing amazing. Kitchen was good and quite clean. Close to coles and easy to walk in to the city centre.

This place is depressing, if you stay here to long it might seriously ruin your trip. The beds are uncomfortable, there‘s no privacy in the rooms. The kitchen is dirty and the soap they use is like 90% water, tons of dishes that are supposed to be clean still have food-rests on them. The whole place feels like it wasn’t maintained in 10 years and a million other things. The worst thing are probably the people there, first of all, there are none, this place is dead and a lot of people who are there just seem shady and not who you wanna be around. To sum it up, when I left that hostel and went to another, I only realized how depressing that place felt, it literally drags you down. Yeah and the washingmachines are very bad. Most of the good reviews you see on here are from people who got a free wash or free hour at the pool table by doing so.

The hostel is fine. But sometimes they don't respect the events times (like Sunday they didn't serve the pancakes on time). According to the service I just want to highlight one the receptionist, I couldn't catch her name but she was from Argentina, she was sweet and helped me a lot. But the other two receptionists never smile and talk really fast, they do nothing in order to help you understand.

Yelp
Great location with friendly staff and environment. The CBD is a short 20 min walk, across the street are nice shops and restaurants. Everything was easy

Yelp
This is one of many hostels in Brisbane. Service and prices are average to a little above average maybe. The view on the rooftop next to their irish pub is quiet nice though. Overall a nice place to stay to hang out with fellow backpackers!

Yelp
Nice and clean hostel, they have a bar right on premisses that does really nice food and entertainment most days during the week. Staff are quite friendly and willing to help, the only bad thing I can really say is that we had to wait for quite a while before we could check in and before our rooms where cleaned. Everything else was bang on.

Yelp
I used this place a few times, and always found it to be one of the better hostels. It's a 5-10 minute walk away from the main area, Queen Street, but literally a stone's throw from the main train and bus station. The hostel itself is the usual backpackers haven. A communal tv come kitchen area that's always busy, and a large pool with plenty of sunbeds!! The staff, as with most hostels, can be backpackers too, but i've always found them very helpful and friendly.
