The hostel is centrally located and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when I got into my 4 dorm room (the only one staying for that night) it didn't seemed that it was cleaned before. There was stuff and hair laying everywhere on the ground and the lookers and sink was also dirty. Kitchen has everything that is needed-however a few more fresh towels would be nice. When you sit in the kitchen it's easy to connect and meet other travellers.

This hostel is right in the centre of Darwin. We had a nice comfortable double room on the ground floor with more than enough floor space for my wife to do her morning yoga exercises very comfortably. The hostel has Coles supermarket, open till late, on one side and an alley with several small, reasonably priced restaurants on the other. These included a South East Asian restaurant (great Chicken laksa ), an Indian restaurant, and a more upmarket Italian restaurant. There were also many bars and restaurants nearby.| The staff were very friendly and happy to offer advice. When we wanted to book two seats on the airport bus, for example, they told us that for two of us it would be cheaper to take a taxi, and they were right. | Upstairs on the first floor was a large kitchen and social area. The kitchen was large with plenty of storage space and a priority placed on hygiene. All food left in cupboards or refrigerators had to be in a bag labelled with the guest’s name, room number and departure date. Cupboards and refrigerators were checked once a week and any food labelled incorrectly or smelling bad was thrown out. Although we didn’t participate in them, there were several social events. One was a Harry Potter team quiz. Sounds like fun.| All in all, a very nice, friendly, well-located hostel. On the down side, because of its location there is a lot of noise from outside until late into the night but, as both of us were very active during the day, we were able to sleep through it.|

My partner and I stayed there one night and unsurprisingly didn't have a good night of sleep. But you get what you pay for. We were in a 4-bed dorm which was very noisy even with the windows closed.
Fortunately the AIRCON was WORKING, because it was really hot in the small room.
The sink (see photo attached) in the room is convenient but NOT CLEAN.
Lots of MOULD everywhere.
On the 2nd floor, there was only one shower and toilet accessible. Really slippery in there, and we could hear water from the shower dripping. We had our shower on the 1st floor, but there was NO HOT WATER.
About the customer service, the afternoon staff member was really helpful and welcoming, whereas the night and morning ones weren't that much.
For the incl. breakfast, there was bread, jam, butter, coffee and milk that you could get from the ground floor.
Very NICE sauna area.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a 4 bed female dorm. It was the only central backpacker hostel available in the off season but was still pretty quiet and was mostly occupied by long term residents who all appeared to know and hang out together, so seemed a little less friendly than other hostels I’ve stayed in. The room itself wasn’t very big, but did have large locker/cupboards to store backpacks. I was on a top bunk and the ladder was in a really awkward position to climb in and out, there was also no access to plugs once up in bed. The kitchen area was a bit run down and you need to request bowls/plates/cutlery from reception. Free breakfast is nothing special (toast and various spreads) but is handy. My main issue was that there is nowhere to dry laundry at the hostel, you are expected to pay to use a dryer even though it’s perfectly warm enough for stuff to dry alone - there could easily be at least a small area reserved for this.

Super nice, calm and clean hostel. We’ve got an absolutely clean room with fridge, TV and own basin. Nice pool area and friendly staff. Just the kitchen is a bit dirty... Best hostel we stayed in Darwin!

It's so disgusting, top to bottom. I stayed a week there and after booking into Youth Shack was told it's closed so they had a room for me at chillies instead. Keep in mind chillies has no pool, bar or pool tables. It also has so many staff walking around like they own the place, smoking in the dining area where it clearly states No Smoking, and yet the place is filthy. Nothing is cleaned properly, so the urine and feces you see on most of the toilet seats are left there to haunt you. Building is not secure so you feel unsafe and overall, would not recommend it.

My partner and I stayed in two different rooms in two separate occasions on the last couple of weeks (one shared, one private, different floors). Both nights we could hardly sleep until pretty late given the noise coming from the bars nearby. I guess it’s a great location if you plan to party and go back to your room late but we will not be coming back. Pretty disappointing

It's Darwin so you can't expect much for your money. However, the location is good, the WiFi is pretty decent and there are computers for free use. There is a decent amount of common area space and the rooms are about okay too. It's solely the kitchen that's really small and usually dirty that is a bother. Otherwise the place can be pretty loud at night.

Yelp
There was semen on our sheets, and when we tried to find someone to change them, there was no one in the entire building. We finally found a phone number, but it took the night manager over an hour to come to our room with a change of sheets. All we wanted to do was sleep after a long day of driving. The lady at reception was also terribly rude to us when we checked in. Don't expect cleanliness or service here.

Yelp
Nice patio and kitchen but overall not super clean. Staff not friendly, rude. Room was clean. Very average hostel at best.
