Chillpill Guest House

Very beautiful guesthouse. The rooms are cozy and clean. We had a room with Ocean-View😍 Staff is nice. Breakfast is fine for a short stay. Loved every second here. Close to the airport.

Neat and clean room, lovely location, good staff etc etc. No staff answering their phones after hours, all advertised numbers don’t work. BUT THE OWNER MADE US PARK ON THE ROAD. What an arrogant man, in the pouring rain , told us we can either park on the road or leave. I hope this establishment starts treating its guests right. The owner is friendly with foreigners but not local Mauritians. He didn’t even greet us earlier. BEWARE OF BOOKING WITH THIS HORRIBLE OWNER.

I stay 20mt to chill pill, atmosphere was always good, quiet place , all facilities are available post off, police, hospital, supermarket, taxi, bus, market, what is needed to complete a beautiful village foods available many places at cheap price.

We started and ended our Mauritiuos journey at ChillPill, a very cozy place. It’s more a mini resort than a guesthouse with a small sea view pool . They organized a taxi pickup from the airport and the catamaran trip and also a taxi for a transfer, it worked really well. Manoj our taxi driver gave us a lot of tips which really helped us a lot, thank you so much! The location of ChillPill is very good, just about a few minutes walk to the waterfront or supermarket and to the restaurant. Such a pity, we didn’t book a seafront room but our room on the back side ( near the street) are also very nice. This guest house is Highly recommended!

It is a very cute property with spectacular seaviews. The lady who manages is very sweet. She specially prepared vegetarian dishes for us in breakfast and ensured we had a nice stay. They also have a microwave which the guests can use to prepare their own food. Locationwise, it is very close and accessible from airport. Overall, we had a nice stay. Only things to keep in mind: 1. It has very limited parking space and sometimes we had to park our cars outside as it got filled up very quickly. 2. They are very strict about timings. There will be noone at reception after 7-8 pm and it came to us as a cultural shock. So, do inform them in advance if you will be checking in late or else you’ll be stuck.

Review for Chillpill Guest House (December 7, 2024): Imagine this: You have a confirmed booking and payment for Chillpill Guest House, only to be turned away upon arrival. That's exactly what happened to me on December 7, 2024! The staff, especially the owner Nathalie, was the epitome of rudeness. Not only did she deny my confirmed stay, but she offered zero apologies and even hung up on me mid-conversation. Nathalie, if you're reading this, some basic communication and customer service skills would be a good start! To make matters worse, Nathalie was unavailable to address the issue personally (she said she is attending her mother's birthday in the north of the island), forcing her husband to step in and issue a refund. While he was polite and apologetic, it doesn’t excuse the initial mistreatment. A small hotel should prioritize customer satisfaction, especially when mistakes are made. In this case, the lack of empathy and professionalism from Nathalie was truly shocking. She did not even call back to apologize, she is so arrogant. It's truly disheartening to encounter such poor service, especially from someone running a hospitality business. I strongly advise potential guests to reconsider their choice of accommodation and avoid Chillpill Guest House. Review for La Caze Roche Maison d'hôtes (December 7, 2024): Here's the kicker: Nathalie's complete lack of professionalism forced me to scramble for last-minute accommodation. Thankfully, La Caze Roche Maison d'hôtes, a nearby guesthouse, came to the rescue. Melissa, the owner there, was an absolute gem. Despite the short notice, she welcomed us with open arms, proving that true hospitality still exists. Here's the takeaway: Avoid Chillpill Guest House like the plague! Their disregard for confirmed bookings and their incredibly rude owner, Nathalie, will leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Take it from me, there are far better guesthouses in Mauritius with owners who understand the meaning of customer service. La Caze Roche Maison d'hôtes is a perfect example! Consider them instead, and you won't regret it.

We stayed here for a total of 3 nights, it was originally going to be one however our plans changed. To accommodate our late change of plans, our first nights accommodation was in the villa with its own kitchen, it was very well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The remaining 2 nights, we stayed in the ocean view unit, which had a lovely view, but the bed was so hard that I may as well slept on the floor. Waking up with a sore neck and back kind of spoilt my stay.

A highly recommended place to stay in this part of the island. Very local and authentic experience. Don't expect a luxury resort, but that' not the point. Meet the people and experience real hospitality. Great hospitality, lovely staff, and beautiful views of the ocean. Thanks for a great stay.
