If you’re looking for a place with true Southern charm, The Chimes is it. Located in the Garden District, midway between Uptown and the French Quarter, it's a quick walk to the streetcar. We stayed in one of the cottages—it was spacious and cozy, had great A/C (a must in New Orleans!), and opened up to a peaceful little courtyard. Every morning, we enjoyed a light, homemade breakfast prepared by the innkeepers, Jill and Charles, who were incredibly kind and welcoming. You can really feel the love and care they put into the place. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel right at home.

I've stayed at the Chimes Bed & Breakfast 4 times over the past 10 years and I alway rave about this place to whomever I'm talking to about my vacation. It's a beautiful building in a quiet and lovely neighborhood. Unlike staying at a hotel downtown, you don't have to pay for the overnight parking which, trust me, isn't cheap. The owners are warm friendly people and Jill is always wonderful!! The breakfast may not be included in the room price anymore but thats hardly a deal breaker for me. The rooms are clean and charming. The beds have super comfortable mattresses with maybe the exception of the small twin in the carriage house room. If you're into the nightlife and don't mind spending a small fortune for parking then book a hotel room in the city but if you like quiet privacy, beautiful architecture, cozy rooms, FREE parking, and warm hospitality then you can't go wrong with a room at the Chimes.

This is my go to place to stay every time I go to New Orleans. I have stated there a least 6 times in the past. The location in the Garden District is perfect as it is close to Magazine Street where I like to shop and eat . The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Jill is a delightful and accommodating hostess. I absolutely love staying there!

A wonderful experience in New Orleans and especially at the Chimes B and B. Thankyou Jill for making our stay so enjoyable, you are a very accommodating host. Our family loved your rooms, the beds were comfy and the bathrooms beautiful. We especially loved hanging out in the outdoor courtyard where we could gather for coffee, drinks or a meal. The Chimes is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood and it was easy to walk to restaurants and the streetcars. Fantastic time had by all, we hope to return one day.

Google
Thank you Jill for your wonderful hospitality! We loved it here-so clean, quiet, and comfortable. The courtyard was a perfect place to relax after a busy day exploring, and I loved grabbing a cup of coffee every morning. Our room was perfect for us and our teenage daughter, who loved the loft area. This is a true gem of a small business!!

Google
The perfect place to stay in NOLA! Easy access to the street car, city center and dining. Beautiful residential neighborhood. Loved every detail of this stay. We stayed in the carriage house, guest room 1. Perfect for our group. The decor was traditional and cozy. Comfortable beds. It felt homey but we still had privacy. The courtyard and layout of the property is lovely. Breakfast in the main dining room was a great way to start the day. I only wish we could’ve stayed longer. If you want a classic bed & breakfast experience in New Orleans, I highly recommend The Chimes.

Google
We absolutely loved our stay at The Chimes! It’s tucked away into an adorable neighborhood that’s a short walk from Magazine St and the Charles St. Trolley. The rooms are comfortable and charming, and we enjoyed the courtyard and shared breakfast space. The highlight of our stay was getting to know Jill - she is so warm and kind and could teach a masterclass on hospitality! We loved every minute of our stay and hope to be back soon.

Yelp
Location, room decor and contactless check in all add up to a well managed property. Nestled in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood this property makes you feel like you are staying in your best friend's garden cottage. I highly recommend booking this well appointed bnb.

Yelp
My mother and I just spent four days at Chimes and absolutely LOVED every minute of it. From walking out of the steamy NOLA heat and into a chilled room and a fresh pitcher of water to cool your throat. Jill was a font of info as to what to do and where to eat. Uber dropped us off and picked us up right outside (we didn't want to drive in downtown NOLA) and the closest streetcar stop is a quick 5-minute walk. The neighborhood has excellent eateries and quirky stores to pop your head into.

Yelp
Highly highly recommend The Chimes. In a perfect spot of New Orleans... right by Magazine & St. Charles. Jill and her husband were so kind, wonderful and attentive. My best friend and I felt so comfortable and right at home. Would recommend this to absolutely anyone and will definitely be staying here anytime I come to Nola!

Yelp
A great place to stay. Rooms face a courtyard so you have easy access whenever you you choose to come and go. The hosts are awesome. You aren't in the city so you get a real sense of true New Orleans. But it's a quick cab ride to the quarter or bourbon street. You can walk to shops and restaurants. It's beautiful with lots of classic homes. A great place for groups as they have different room configurations.

Yelp
The Chimes and Jill were wonderful! The location is great - close to Magazine St with lots of shopping, food, and coffee and a short walk from the streetcar. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed and more. Great AC and a ceiling fan. Jill is so sweet and accommodating and you can tell this place is very loved and cared for. I highly recommend staying here over a hotel or airbnb!

Martha K.

Yelp
We stayed in a beautiful room, slept in an extremely comfortable bed, took pleasure in great breakfasts ( loved all--eggs or Avocado toast or pastry tray! Almond croissants were anaspecial favorite of our gang). and took advantage of the perfect location near Magazine St shops and restaurants and also near the St Charles streetcar! Jill and Charles offer amazing hospitality. It was a wonderful experience!

Yelp
This is a beautiful inn in a nice neighborhood of New Orleans, and an easy walk to interesting and eclectic Magazine Street. The courtyard is shady and pleasant, and the hosts are friendly and helpful -- and present, which is nice. Room was very well appointed, and updated yet still very charming. Current Covid measures take some of the fun out of staying at a place like this -- reception on your own, missing breakfast together in the lovely dining room .....but that's the way it goes. Still, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Jill M.

Yelp
Clean, large, beautiful rooms with A/C that handled July heat with no problems. Plenty of clean, fluffy towels in a modern and spotless bathroom. Beds were lovely and soft with soft lovely sheets. Close to streetcar and Magazine Street, in a neighborhood that felt very safe to walk even at night. We had quiet nights and pleasant neighbors, and Jill is a warm and helpful hostess who was so very kind to my family! It was perfect for us.

Yelp
Our mom/ daughter weekend trip was perfect because of this lovely place to stay. 4 blocks from St Charles street car & the other way 4 blocks to magazine St.Our room (#4) was double the size I thought it would be from pictures, included 2 full bathrooms - 2 tvs snd 3 cozy chairs for reading , tables for journaling and lovely lighting- lamps, chandelier in one bathroom. A/C in rooms but not even necessary w/ ceiling fans. Nice way to start and end our days. And Jill &l Charles-fantastic hosts with helpful suggestions we used! Both very kind without being cloying. The vibe is appreciation of the music & food and culture of New Orleans - and they love sharing it. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars, I would. A lovely couple who make sure all your needs are met, including needs you never knew you had in the first place! The owners have been members of the community for many years, so your money will inevitably cycle back into the neighborhood at some point. They fed people for free last week during hurricane Ida aftermath. You will be happy you stayed here.

Darlene M.

Yelp
One of the nicest places we have stayed in a long time. The host was lovely and very helpful. The morning coffee out on the porch was fantastic, even the decaf was great. The courtyard is relaxing and welcoming. Our two bedroom suite with two bathrooms was very nice and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. The location in the garden district was perfect a few blocks to the Saint Charles Street car or a few blocks to Magazine Street. Easy to get down to Tulane University and easy to get downtown to Bourbon Street. It was safe quiet and beautiful. Highly, highly recommend staying at Chimes!!!!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway! We loved our stay here. Jill was so accommodating in helping us reserve a room. It is in such a great location. This was our first time visiting New Orleans and our stay at Chimes was what made it so great. Our room was extremely clean, very quiet, had such a comforting New Orleans feel. Our next time visiting we will definitely come stay at the Chimes again.

Diego R.

Yelp
We loved the Chimes. Jill and Charles are super-hosts - really nice and really helpful!! We had a great room with a kitchenette, which you get to through a charming French Quarter-style patio. It's a great place for breakfast or a drink at the end of the day. The Chimes is situated in a quiet uptown neighborhood, very centrally located, which is perfect for doing all the tourist stuff during the day and getting some peace and quiet at night. And we were amazed at how many great local restaurants you can walk to from the Chimes. These are the ones that New Orleanians go to, so you're not tromping over tourists to get a table. Overall we had a really great time there and would definitely choose it again.

Yelp
5 Stars? Only 5? The Chimes deserves at least 6! Did you ever book a hotel and feel let down the moment you arrive with everything more and more disappointing the longer you stay? Well this is not that place. Everything at The Chimes exceeded our expectations to the point where we can say we would come to New Orleans just to stay here. First off The Chimes is in a excellent location; just a short distance from the French Quarter or a quick walk to St. Charles where you can get the streetcar to downtown. An added benefit is that you are within easy walking distance of Magazine St. where there loads of great restaurants and interesting shops. For us, The Chimes felt like a home away from home and Jill and Charles are perfect hosts. Our room was pleasant, comfortable and clean and the property is gorgeous. This a super place to just come and relax, in fact I can't think of ever having stayed in a nicer B&B. We most definitely return here to stay another beautiful room. Each one is unique and tastefully decorated and is an adventure unto itself. And the breakfasts, let me not forget the breakfasts. Firstly the fare was varied and fresh. Fresh baked bread and pastries along a selection of delicious fruit are served every day with eggs prepared differently each morning. Wonderful coffee and a large selection of teas are offered as well. Secondly, breakfast at the The Chimes is a social event where you will get to meet new and interesting people from all corners of the globe (yes, I know, the globe has no corners) and forge new friendships. This place is really special. We thank you profoundly for your grace, gentility and hospitality.

Yelp
Our stay at Chimes was absolutely perfect .. The room was gorgeous, the bed so comfortable with lovely linens and the fluffiest comforter. I was surprised there was maid service every day! Excellent breakfast.. I mean top notch! and the hosts are just amazing. They have really thought of everything. I hope I never have to stay anyplace else. Thanks Jill and George! we will be back.

Yelp
The Chimes is a quaint, cozy and comfortable bed and breakfast situated in NOLA's beautiful garden district. Everything is less than a 2 mile walk- restaurants, bars, shops, the Audobon Park, street car, etc.- and the walks are lovely and much needed after enjoying all the amazing local cuisines and craft cocktails! Jill and Charles are very accommodating, friendly and knowledgable of NOLA's history and features. The rooms have very comfortable beds and are the perfect amount of space and comfort. We will definitely be staying here again!

Yelp
I stayed here for a weekend in April for a friend's wedding in the Garden District. It was very nice, inviting, and friendly! They even had a few non-guests join breakfast because their B&B was full and the non-guests had to find other lodging, but were invited back for the meal. The B&B is run by a married couple who will greet you, show you around the place, and eat breakfast with you. They've owned the place for about 22 years. They have 5 rooms and all have their own bathroom. My room was next to the kitchen (small discount for the breakfast-making/eating noise) and was super comfortable with fresh orchids, water, a small tv, window a/c unit, and a sound machine. A thin folder contains recommendations for places to eat around the area. With the a/c turned on and my earplugs in, I slept like a baby til breakfast. The sound machine probably comes in handy during winter when you're not using the a/c. There is a large courtyard outside with a pretty garden and swing and chairs to relax, read, and chat with guests. The resident orange tabby cat was spotted a few times running away from people. Other guests were friendly - breakfast felt like a warm hostel, but with middle-aged people. The location was really great, within walking distance of Magazine Street. It was a nice area of the Garden District, with lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops and not as crazy and touristy as the French Quarter. Rates are $140-160 per night, inclusive of tax. Street parking/couple of off-street spots, wi-fi & Ethernet Internet connection, and breakfast all included. I would love to come back here!

Yelp
We stayed here for our anniversary, and we LOVED it. It's in a great neighborhood. The house is beautiful, and our room was so cute, clean and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. We love the uptown area. Some of our favorite restaurants are there, so this place is an awesome option to stay around there instead of the more expensive hotels around the French Quarter. Would 100% go back and recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in Nola.

jessica l.

Yelp
Excellent in every way. As a repeat guest, I can attest to the warm hospitality of the innkeepers and to their attention to the details of the accommodations as well as to their guests. The rooms are impeccable: handsome, well-furnished, super clean, with quality bedding and abundant amenities. The beds are as comfortable as a bed can be. The Chimes succeeds at providing many comforts of home, including a large courtyard with a variety of seating, a good selection of hot and cold beverages, guest refrigerators and dishes/utensils in the rooms. They provide detailed information on the local area, restaurants, transportation, and more. The Chimes is well located in a walkable neighborhood convenient to Magazine Street, St. Charles Avenue and the streetcar. You will feel welcome and be happy you stayed.

Yelp
This is our second visit . We enjoy the relaxed quaint feeling and the ability to get to the St. Charles Trolley Line. From the trolley we were able to go to everywhere we were interested in. Morning brings a lovely breakfast of breads, pastries, fruit and cheeses of course with juice and coffee. They provide a homey room with nice clean linens, bathrooms in each room, televisions, coffee maker and a refridge is stocked with water and sodas etc. We really enjoy this place , it feels like a home but not overbearing like visiting a relative. Beds are comfortable, but remember it's not a hotel. Prices are reasonable and they are quite helpful with ideas and services in the area.

Yelp
Where to begin. Easily the best B&B I have ever had the opportunity to stay at. To begin, this spot became a focal point of our trip, rather than just the place we stayed while in this cool place. We found ourselves enjoying long breakfasts with the other guests and our amazing hosts who were all so fun and interesting. We loved bringing lunch back and hanging out in the beautiful backyard. Everything from the rooms, the grounds, and the absolutely delicious breakfast food we started our day with was simply perfect. Jill and Charles were incredible hosts who made sure we had everything we could need, from amazing restaurant recommendations to the best fresh baguettes anyone could dream of. For part of our stay, the innkeeper Carol joined us as Jill was out of town and she was wonderful. She sent us an email with all the band recommendations in town from her son when we casually asked for any music we should go see. Everything with this place is above and beyond. Treat yourself to NOLA done right!

Susan W.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of staying at The Chimes for a birthday getaway and my first visit to New Orleans. Jill and Charles are wonderful hosts, gracious and warm. And every aspect of our visit was perfect: beautiful room, delicious breakfast, great location, friendly guests. Loved the decor including the photos and art! Jill went above-and-beyond to coordinate a birthday surprise with my family (across time zones) that made our visit forever memorable. I wish our stay had been longer, but next time! Thank you!!

Meredith C.

Yelp
Jill and Charles were wonderful hosts. We had everything we needed in our room, and they were there to offer more. The Chimes is located in the perfect spot. It's close to Magazine St and a short walk to the streetcar. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely recommend staying here and will stay again in the future!

Yelp
Homey, comfortable and charming. I've stayed at the Chimes several times and have recommended it to many friends who have stayed there and enjoyed it as much as we did. Jill and Charles, the proprietors, serve a luscious breakfast in a sunny, large dining room that is the hub for interesting conversations with fellow travelers from around the world as well as New Orleans locals. Jill is like a walking encyclopedia of local events, tours and food as well as interesting things to do that are off the beaten path. The first few times I came to New Orleans I stayed in the French Quarter, but quickly tired of the 24-hour, frenetic tourist energy. The Chimes is in a lovely neighborhood that is quiet and filled with friendly people taking evening walks. And when you want to join the tourists a quick ride on an antique street-car puts you in the heart of the French Quarter! What more could you ask? By-the-way, we loved the neighborhood around the Chimes so much that we ended up buying a place in New Orleans a few blocks away. Now we stop in to say hi to Jill and her guests a couple times a year!

Yelp
This was my first time staying at the Chimes, and the next time I'm in New Orleans, I will definitely be staying here. The rooms are comfortable, the neighborhood is quiet, the courtyard is nice and shady, your provided with a nice breakfast, including pleasant conversation with the proprietors and other guests, and it's conveniently located within walking distance of the streetcar line, if you want to play downtown or go further uptown to the zoo or Audobon Park. There's also plenty of parking around the property if you want to drive here and there. And it's located within walking distance of several nice restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay here. It was like staying at a friend's home.

Yelp
I recently visited NOLA and stayed at the Chimes Bed and Breakfast. This little BnB was as lovely the second time as it was my first time staying there. Highly recommended!

Nancy H.

Yelp
Lovely stay. Very smooth. Beautiful home. Thanks.

Yelp
For me bed and breakfast's are hard to commit to, but you will fall in love with The Chimes in New Orleans the moment you arrive. Jill and her husband have created a wonderful little B&B in the most perfect of location in the city. My wife and I needed some adult time away from the kiddos and decided a couple nights in New Orleans might help. On the recommendation from some friends who had stayed at The Chimes, I booked the trip and then prayed it would satisfy. Having never visited New Orleans before and only stayed in 1 B&B before, I was nervous. The past 10 years of raising kids has made us weary of the drinking and party scene and frankly our hopes in visiting the Big Easy was to relax, unwind, explore a historic city and of course enjoy dining experiences that would make our friends jealous when we returned home to tell the tales. The Chimes Bed & Breakfast exceeded our expectations in every way possible! Jill has the type of personality that allows you to connect easily and she immediately put our fears to ease as she showed us around the property, our room and offered us a beer and conversation to better understand what we were hoping to achieve while visiting. The book of local suggestions (30+ years experience) proved much better than any guide book (she offered us these too of course) and I felt like I was asking a lifelong friend where her favorite places are and what we should explore in a our short trip. Her cooler stocked with drinks, ice, water, etc. made jumping on the street car (5 minute walk away) or heading down to Magazine St. (5 minute walk away) more enjoyable. The bedrooms are stocked with all the essentials - special shout out to having good linens, a soft pillow and a firm pillow. The AC worked magically to erase the record temp heat we experienced while visiting. The open access to a quiet but lovely courtyard was a great place to swing and share a beer with other visiting guests to revisit our daily adventures. Having considered all options from AirBNB, French Quarter hotels and other B&Bs, I can honestly say staying at The Chimes made our visit to New Orleans the best possible experience! Jill's expertise of the city (what to enjoy vs. what to skip) and wonderful gift of hospitality over breakfast or an afternoon beer was greatly appreciated. My wife and I will return to The Chimes (hopefully soon) and likely bring our two children with us. Don't hesitate to book now and support a local institution with years of experience in how to make your New Orleans experience magical!

Yelp
Yesterday I was reminiscing and looking at pictures from my road trip this summer, and remembering how much I had fallen in love with NoLA. Part of this fantastic experience was staying at Chimes. As a hostess, Jill is tops. Her breakfast downstairs is charming and delightful, often with non-guests stopping in just because, and she is so full of insider info on the city, places to go, things to do, current events, the lists goes on. The inn itself is beautiful, full of interesting art and design. It's in the Garden District, and an easy hop onto the trolley line to go downtown. You avoid so much of the commercialisation of the city by staying outside of it. All in all, a wonderful visit!

Yelp
We had a lovely stay over Halloween week, and stayed in a lovely unit on corner of Constantinople and and Coliseum. The owner is absolutely lovely and very informative. She had some great recommendations on where to eat and how to spend our days. Room: there was a lovely *high* queen sized bed. It was fun to hop up to it! The room also had a/c and a fan, and was pleasantly cool throughout our stay. There is a good sized bathroom with good water temp + pressure. I appreciated that she had a fridge for us to use (also stocked with various beverages). Breakfast consisted of: various pastries, cheeses, boiled eggs, and fruit. Drink options were: coffee, tea, and orange juice. It's a very European style B + B. The hostess was always present during breakfast, which was a nice touch. We met lovely travelers from all different parts of the US. Area: We had our own car, and there was plenty of street parking available. The area is generally quiet, and a nice respite from the FQ rowdiness. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. :)

Yelp
We are just leaving Chimes after a two night stay for our "mini moon." Jill was a lovely and gracious host and the carriage house was the perfect getaway. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a cold drink and the location just can't be beat. It is in a beautiful residential area, close to many hip restaurants and convenient to the bus or street car to the Quarter. Audobon Park is also just a short run away. I highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
The Chimes is a relaxing, friendly, and cozy B&B! My wife and I live in the neighborhood and spent the night while we had some work being done on our house. When we checked in we felt the stress of the day melt away! We were in an oasis and it was at the end of our block! We stayed in the old carriage house and was fascinated by the carpentry work that was all around us from the beautiful windows to the stairs up to the loft area! The bed was so very comfortable that I had not had such a good nights rest like that in years! Jill and Charles have a keen eye for details and it shows in everything around the Chimes. They have a book of attractions and helpful information that was SPOT ON!!! Being a native to New Orleans they give helpful recommendations that I myself give to friends who visit. The outside courtyard is so inviting to sit down with a good book or to converse with other guest that its a real treat. Breakfast was superb with the many selections of French pastries and other breakfast selections to start your day off right! We really enjoyed our mini stay vacation and could not have picked a better B&B than the Chimes! There are a lot of things to do in the area that can be explored on foot or on the city bus or streetcar all within walking distance. If you want to rest and relax while visiting New Orleans take it from a native who would put my own mother up there if I ever had to!

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow!!! Where to even start with the perfection that is Chimes? Jill is an absolute delight and made us feel so welcomed in her beautiful B&B!! She was so kind to orient us to NOLA, sharing with us favorite spots for Veg eateries and the best areas to enjoy the local music scene. It made a huge difference in our trip as we got to visit places that were off the tourist path and were able to take NOLA in via a local's recommendations (check out Frenchmen Street for great music and an outdoor art market). The B&B itself is stunning and in a quaint little neighborhood. We were also very grateful to be just 3 blocks from the cable car line, which brought us right to the French Quarter. Our room was well appointed and had such a nice energy about it. The shower pressure was perfect, the bed comfortable, and the access to cold drinks in the courtyard fridge appreciated. Although we visited in early November, the weather was still fairly muggy and humid, and so having the AC unit in our room was also appreciated and made for a comfortable night's sleep. Jill, in all her amazing hospitality, made for us a delicious Vegan breakfast, as we are Vegan. What a treat this was!! She also allowed us to keep our belongings in the main house while we spent the day exploring NOLA some more. Jill really cares about her guests. We've stayed at some places where the inn owner appears to be worn out from years of reviewing the same map and answering the same questions. This was not so with Jill! We felt like we were visiting an old friend and as though she would be happy to welcome us back any time. On our 2 week cross-country road trip, Chimes has hands down been our favorite accommodation and is at the tippity top of excellent service and supreme comfort. Thank you Chimes/Jill for the best stay ever!!

Jenny K.

Yelp
We stayed for 3 days and were completely thrilled with everything about The Chimes. The Chimes is quaint, yet spacious, and in an architecturally charming neighborhood with great restaurants close and safely walkable. Contactless check in was stress free. The room was perfect, beautifully decorated and perfectly appointed. The courtyard is delightful and beautifully lit at night. There was a downpour while we were there (it is New Orleans, after all) and the water efficiently ran off the property. A fresh pot of coffee is ready in the courtyard each morning. We ordered a breakfast (home-cooked) that was delivered just ahead of the requested time. We stayed in Room 4 which is actually two rooms - each with a desk, which worked especially well for my husband and I to be on simultaneous separate Zoom calls, without having to listen and talk over each other. The Chimes is very clean and completely current, with good wifi. One of the owners, Jill, frequented the courtyard and was a great host, sharing bits of information about the property. We enthusiastically endorse The Chimes!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Chimes B&B was incredible. Probably the best stay I've had in NOLA -- ever. Charles and Jill are so hospitable and it does truly feel like home.

Jason B.

Yelp
I stayed here for a conference and it was excellent. Clean rooms, great breakfast and nice hosts. The neighborhood is safe and the B&B has charm. Would definitely stay again.

Mary C.

Yelp
A delightful spot in the Garden District. We spent two nights while visiting NOLA with friends. The Inn is very comfortable, the rooms nicely appointed, the breakfast lovely and the inn keepers delightful! The Inn is located a few blocks off the St Charles street car route making it an easy trip into downtown. We definitely would come again and highly recommend it!

C B.

Yelp
Always a treat to stay here when we are in town. Jill is the best hostess and keeps the Chimes immaculate. Make sure you don't miss breakfast- besides the almond croissants, it's great to hear about new things happening in the city and places to check out!

Angela S.

Yelp
All the five star ratings are no joke! This place really is fantastic. I booked this B&B for my husband and 2 members of his family to celebrate their birthdays. The hosts were wonderful, the rooms extremely comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, and the other patrons were a pleasure to be around. I received lots of brownie points for booking this B&B!!

Maddie M.

Yelp
The Chimes was a wonderful place to stay for our 3 nights in NOLA. Jill was a fabulous host. Our room was clean and the bed was possibly the most comfy thing I've slept in ever. Breakfast was delicious and allowed us to meet some of the other guests, all of whom were great and helpful with recommendations. The location of the B&B is spectacular - very pretty, safe neighborhood. Would love to come back again in warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor patio.

Yelp
The Chimes is a jewel in the middle of uptown New Orleans. 'Old world hospitality' can sound like a quaint expression, but it truly comes to life at this haven. On my recent stay I was given a room off the kitchen in the main house that was perfectly appointed. Jill and her husband make a point of connecting with guests and being available at all hours ready to take care of every need, large or small.

Yelp
I found Chimes listed as one of Frommer's best hotel bets. I then read the reviews on tripadvisor and checked out their website. I enjoy staying at B&Bs in general, but I especially wanted to book one for this trip because I wanted to support a local business in New Orleans. I found the price fair and the rooms interesting. I liked the videos about each room on the website. I could see that the owners, Jill and Charles, took great pride in their home and B&B and that appealed to me. Another factor in my choosing the Chimes was that I did not want to rent a car or rely on taxis. The property is equidistant from the St. Charles Streetcar and Magazine St. buses - about 4 blocks each way. It was very convenient. At our first breakfast, I asked Jill about the $12 3-day transportation passes she sells. She said the city had lowered the rate of the day pass to $3 so it was better for us to buy it through the drivers. My husband and I appreciated that honesty. I found our room to be a great size (Room 4). It had a good size closet and a desk with enough space to spread guidebooks and maps out. I liked the drawers that were in the bathroom because I like to lay my toiletries out instead of rifling in my travel kit. The bed was comfortable and had two soft pillows and two firm pillows. I liked that they thought of that. We also loved the art that was in the room. AND, the internet works. Everywhere. Full bars. They have 2 wireless hubs you can hook up to. I've been to B&Bs where they advertise free wireless and it ends up being incredibly weak. This was a pleasant surprise. There was an informative packet in the room and was really jazzed to find out they have bug spray in a basket in the courtyard. (We packed just carry on and we couldn't find a small enough container of spray to fit into our ziplocks. Sure, I could have walked to the Wal-Mart and gotten a bottle, but I didn't have to! Hooray! The basket also had sunscreen but we didn't need it. But now we know we don't need to pack it next time we go to NO.) The packet also has great restaurant information. Every place that we went to that was on that list was spot on and pretty fantastic. I loved breakfast. There is fresh bread and various baked treats that Jill picks up every morning from a local bakery, butter, jam, cheese, ripe fruit, OJ, coffee, tea - sometimes this fruit with yogurt and granola and honey (so good). I am not a great conversationalist in the mornings and my husband and I tend to be on the introverted side. Jill was/is warm and welcoming and a wonderful host. She made us feel very comfortable even though we were at a table with strangers. There ended up being some really interesting conversations at the breakfast. We usually ended up lingering at the table. It was a fun way to start the day and get ideas about what to do and where to go from other guests. We had a great time in New Orleans and a big part of it was staying at the Chimes. We are looking forward to visiting the city again and booking a room here.

Yelp
Staying at the Chimes was a wonderful experience and a highlight of our time in New Orleans. The flight to nola was delayed due to an ice storm, but our hosts figured out a way for us to stay a couple of extra days. Breakfast even featured a King Cake one morning. Location is perfect as it is close to both Magazine and St.Charles. Jill and Charles were perfect hosts and had many great suggestions, not to mention some very interesting historical information. Each room is different and the garden area was welcoming even though the weather was cold during part of our visit. You won't go wrong staying at the Chimes. Larry and Mary Alyce from Boise

Yelp
My friend and I stayed in the carriage house and adored everything about it! It was clean, private and well appointed with 2 separate living and sleeping areas! Perfect for a fun weekend away. Great location to park and walk, take bus or trolley. Will return again- for sure! Thank you for true hospitality!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for an anniversary adventure in New Orleans. It was the most perfectly beautiful stay it is possible to image. I never want to stay anywhere else.

Yelp
If you are visiting New Orleans, there is ONLY one place to stay: The Chimes!! Your hosts, Jill and Charles, provide the Ultimate in guest expectations. With an Uptown location, and walking distance of the fabled streetcars, and Magazine Street restaurants, abundant parking, private cottages, (2) relaxing courtyards, an accessible refrigerator with Cold beer, water, and wine, And, And, a breakfast in their dining room shared with the other guests, you will start the day either recovering from the night before, or with a business agenda, refreshed, and recharged. With their knowledge of the city, and it's restaurants, your trip will want for Nothing!, and if your timing is good, Jill might be able to direct you to an evening juking & jiving to the Brass-aholics, New Orleans hottest brass band! Why only 5 stars?, how about 10!!!

Yelp
Is this place really that great? Yes, yes, yes. Nice location in a quiet neighborhood, but an easy walk to Magazine St and St Charles. The rooms are lovely and very reasonably priced. The garden area is very pretty and the breakfasts delicious. Fantastic almond croissants! And the hosts are very helpful, interesting, and knowledgeable. We will never stay anywhere else in New Orleans.

Yelp
Our 3 night stay at The Chimes was memorable! Our room was quiet and had a private entrance off the lovely garden with soothing chimes. The room furnishings featured lovely carved wood. The breakfast was wonderful with many fresh fruits and pastries. The owners, Jill and Charles were helpful with suggestions of places to go during our stay. A short walk to the St. Charles trolley made getting to the French Quarter easy. We can see why this B & B earned a Foder's Choice star.
