Fun, laid back, family friendly atmosphere. We came on a Saturday night with reservations, and had to wait an extra 15 minutes. With this being said, I highly stress getting reservations, as even the bar was packed. It’s a decent place to watch a game if you grab seats near a TV. The only downside about the atmosphere is that it’s a tad loud. Service was quick, and our server was really nice. Most of the servers and bus people seem like teenagers, which showed when they didn’t have the most knowledge of the beers, but they were professional, kind, and fast. Four stars for the food. We used to come here a lot growing up, and I feel like the food has gone down in quality. We had the pretzel from their Oktoberfest menu, which I did not like as the cheese sauce was far too sharp, and the pretzel was whole wheat flavored. Buffalo chicken pizza was okay, but could have used more buffalo sauce and cheese. Overall, food was good, and a good value, just not the great food I remember! I would come here again for a casual, fun night out, or with kids as it’s very family friendly.

$60 worth of take out!!! Food looks DISGUSTING, flavorless and beyond overpriced. I ordered a few things and was looking forward to the mac & cheese and Caesar salad attaching my pictures below because I’m in disbelief that they would even package something looking like this especially for the price they charge.

The food was great, highly recommend the nachos and the pizza! And my hubby loved the pot pie! The atmosphere was a little on the darker side for my liking, especially because the weather was amazing on the day we visited. But the service and food were great!

I have been passing this restaurant for the past years and never stopped by to try it. My loss!! Surprised by its delicious food, warm family atmosphere, and inexpensive price for such a level of restaurants. Plenty of seats but still recommend to make reservations. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. It's a good choice to enjoy your family meals here! Recommended....

Just Wow! My boys took me out for Mother’s Day. I wanted to go here. We did not go on Mother’s Day. The place is clean. The staff is very nice. Our waiter, omg, I can’t remember your name. I think Chris. Anyway, absolutely a phenomenal waiter; funny, polite, patient, cute. The food is tasty, fresh, very hot ( temperature). The portions are large! The prices weren’t too bad.

I’m happy places like this still exist. Whirlwind of childhood nostalgia from the decor and vibes. Burgers are good, some of the items I got weren’t great so I stick to the burger. Also the meatballs are good. My daughter enjoys the Mac and cheese.

Terrible bar pizza. It was so much better when I was growing up. Maybe they changed their recipe because it tasted nothing like what I remembered it being. While it was never the greatest pizza, at least it was fairly decent years ago. Now it has no flavor and ratio of cheese and sauce were off. Way too much sauce and not enough cheese.

I loved it here. The food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive. The atmosphere and the smells coming from the kitchen brought me back to my childhood. The only thing that was a bit annoying were the booths. I had a hard time getting in and out of them, as did some other people around me. Overall a great experience!

This review is for the Flemington location. Great casual faire for an easy dinner out. Food is pretty consistent and good. My mistake in ordering their burrito. They are not a Mexican restaurant and should stick to American cuisine. It was dry, lacked flavor and any interesting seasoning. Took 1/2 home, dug out the insides & added seasonings with a fried egg for breakfast the next day. My husband's pizza was very tasty and my son ate all his burger so it must have been good (he has fancy tastebuds :) They were busy the night we went so service was a bit slow but it wasn't bad.

I returned here for a party. The service was decent. I am not sure if the server had other tables or just our large party. It was a little slow at times and there were multiple requests for items. I was able to have a few of their food items. The chimney salad, rigatoni with vodka sauce, and multiple pizzas were the dishes tried. The salad consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, pepperoncini, onions, and olives. The salad was solid. It appeared fresh and the house vinaigrette was appetizing. The rigatoni with vodka sauce was pleasant too. There was an ample amount of sauce with just a good amount of flavor. The pasta was cooked nicely too. I had three different types of pizza, regular cheese, white, and pepperoni. The crust was just way too thin for my liking, and the pizza did not hold together due to this. It was just not my personal preference, but overall, not too bad. The white pizza was very soggy, however. The tomato sauce on the regular was pleasant with a nice blend of cheese.

We were there on a Monday night. No one made eye contact or offered to seat us-after 5 minutes we finally asked if we could eat at the bar. Sure seat yourself...not a solid start. We ordered an old fashioned and glass of cab. Fine, average pours. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza. And waiter and waited and waited. We asked for water...finally, the pizza arrives. It isn't really cooked fully in the middle but the edges are kind of burned. We kept talking-I was in from out of town and we haven't seen each other in years. The servers rarely checked on us, never refilled the water and while they bought a take out box for the pizza, we had to ask twice for the bill and then ask to have them take the card to pay for it. What gives? Ok drinks, mediocre pizza, iffy service. And no World Series, only football on tvs. Pass.

Will forever love this place. Everything is so good!! Picked up a large pepperoni and a half mushroom, half eggplant. It was so good!

Great place to celebrate Oktoberfest. Either four different kinds of Oktoberfest beers and 1/2 to full liters this bar is in the spirit. Friendly bar tenders and a specialty German menu for the month to celebrate that German heritage festival of Oktoberfest make this place fun and lively . Ford does not have much seating so be sure to come early to get a seat. But there are booths and tables throughout the restaurant that you can get the same menus at. Their pizza is thin crust and very tasty. Lots of variety in menu try the beehive pie for dessert for a real treat

So very sad...The Chimney Rock Inn used to be a great place with good food, service, and great pizza. The people who bought it absolutely ruined it, at all locations. From frozen pie crusts to worms in your slimy salad, Just steer clear of this fiasco

Chimney Rock is an institution of the Bound Brook. In fact, I am not from the area - but rather, my extended family lives here and comes to this place often. Whenever we have a big outing, they always make reservations for this place because it has a large selection of variety on the menu and is big enough to accommodate large groups. Not to mention - every time we come here, the place is packed with locals. Regardless of my opinion, I have to give props to Chimney Rock for establishing itself as a classic. I'm traveling from the Hudson County area, so I am coming with a bias - sorry to all my friends and family in the 'burbs! The pizza is solid here, but nothing compares to the true NY style stuff I'm used. Their appetizers are fine (although the last time we were here, the garlic knots were extraordinarily tough), and the food is fine too. It's a lot of fried things that you really can't go wrong with. There are also some pastas, some mains, and a fair amount of salads if you are in a heathy mood. (But if you're coming here, go for the fried stuff!) To me personally, the decor seems a little outdated. I understand it's supposed to look like a log cabin, but I personally believe some of the older areas (like the bar area, for example) can use a little TLC. This doesn't seem to deter customers, though. Like I said, this place is always packed! I would go here if you want some standard bar fare and a beer!

Really great spot for a pizza night! we ordered the buffalo chicken and meatloaf parm pizza and both were excellent. The only downside was that it was about an hour and a half wait for delivery.

It was a fun atmosphere and the burger was really good!!! Great to watch football. They should get a DJ here to liven up Football Sunday but seems like it's more families eating

The food is very good, and the drinks are generous. The ambience is decent and this is a great place to go. If you like to be in a busy restaurant are you enjoy crowded lively places then this is a great spot for you. . The bar is always full once again if you like a place with lots of energy and you don't mind crowded bar then it definitely would be a great spot

We are from the are and eat out all the time and I owned a well known 5 star restaurant. We had a very early dinner and sat at the bar and had by far the worst service from 2 bar tenders I have ever experienced. It was shift change and they paid no attention to anything except chatting with the staff about there weekend and ignoring us and when we asked f service it was as if we bothered her. The man next to us almost had to stop them 2 times from taking his plate when he wasn't finished and when he sat and asked about the Octoberfest goulash instead of her not saying anything she said I haven't had it and it looks like the spatzel is maggots.. zero class and what a disappointment after spending $100 on 2 salads and cake and cake with drinks Avoid the late day bartenders

I really wanted to like this place, but the experience fell massively short of expectations from the moment we walked in. No one at the host stand made eye contact or greeted us, and the first table they tried to seat us at was already taken. As a former host and server myself, I found it odd that the solution from the host was to walk us all the way back to the entrance and have us wait again rather than simply finding the next available table nearby. Part of the job is thinking on the fly so as not to inconvenience your customers. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve from there. Our server never introduced herself and definitely didn't seem to care about us or her job. She instructed us to place our menus at the front of the table when we were ready to order, which felt like an odd workaround to actually being attentive and checking on your tables. The drinks were the biggest red flag. The ice was visibly dirty, and we both noticed particles floating on top of our two completely different drinks. We didn't feel comfortable ordering replacement drinks or much food now that it was clear the kind of place this was. What we did try in the way of food tasted like pre-made, frozen, and reheated dishes rather than anything even remotely fresh. For a restaurant that was so packed, even on a weekday, I expected much more. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

This was our second time eating at the Chimney Rock 1863 Inn in Whippany. The food and drinks were excellent, and the service was top notch. A shout-out to our server Ariel who was terrific - very efficient and very personable.

Classic spot! A must go to at-least 1x great salads and thins crust pizza! (Add crispy onions yum!) You can never go wrong. Service is always nice and the menu options are sure to please the pickiest eater! They have specials and also a space large enough to rent out - I would always recommend this spot!!! You gotta go if you haven't already!

The Buffalo chicken pizza is made with red sauce which I thought was unusual. I probably would not have order it had I realized that. The vodka pizza was quite good though. Our waitress was good and service was quick. The restaurant is very dark though so keep that in mind.

Great for big groups and parties! They have frozen pizzas to buy and take home! Service was good! I ordered the taters with briskets as well as pizza. Ate them so fast that I forgot to take photos! The taters are not as hot as I thought it would. Wished it would serve in a cast iron plate. Because with all cold topics being on top, the taters were cold when they got to the table. Pizza is thin crust, it came to the table hot! But the crust is not crispy. So a little disappointing. I would come back and try other food items on their menu!

Best. Vegan. Pizza ever! The sauce is so delicious! They also have other great options, like the grow-up grilled cheese. I had my birthday party here with a group of 8 and everyone loved their food. I highly recommend making a reservation when eating here on a weekend night, if you want a short wait time. The vibes are different depending on where you are seated, it ranges between classic dinner booths to a fancier outside space.

Past by here many times but finally tried it. Good thin crust pizza for a place a little far outside the bridge and tunnel zone for traditionally good Zaaa. Service was quick, friendly and our waitress laughed at all our lame jokes without a pained look. The mood was casual and clean, without appearing to try impress anyone. I'll be back when I have time and am passing through.

American menu well done with great burgers, wraps, pasta, full dinner salads to name a few items. Management constantly willing to spice up the menu with seasonal changes. Great thin crust pizza the best around. Bar with friendly servers and a wide selection of tap beers and a reasonable wine display. The only reason for less than a 5+ star rating is the small amount of handy cap parking availability.

Sat at the bar and it was Wednesday which happened to be Wine Wednesday. luckily for me Kendall Jackson chard was only $5.95 a glass! what a deal! Enjoyed the Rock chopped salad. Fresh greens and a large portion. The smoked brisket sandwich was delicious and very tender without fat! Enjoyed my meal.

Food was excellent and my espresso martini was made to perfection! Specials and prices are very good.

What happened to the Mozzarella Sticks??? The main reason we'd go there. Now, they taste like freezer sticks. So sad!!!! Oh, and $12.50 for a 9oz pour of Cavit? The whole large bottle costs $15. Anyway. Sorry to see the mozzarella sticks gone down the tib

Our first visit and we took advantage of National Chicken Wings Day and tried their promotional menu. Mango Habanero and Carolina BBQ . Awesome and a couple of Boylan Creamy Red Bitch Beer and a large thin crust bar pizza Wings were outstanding and definitely will return there again.

Just updating my 13 year old review. Their main draw is still the thin crust pizza. It's thinner than regular "thin crust" like you'd get at Dominos, Papa Johns, or a regular pizzeria. The slices are also cut narrow, so much so that it only takes me about 3 bites to eat a whole slice. If you're not in the mood for pizza, they have salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and pasta. The wait staff has always been very friendly, whether it's for dine-in service, grabbing a few pies to-go, or purchasing gift cards. If you go during typical dining hours (i.e., lunch and dinner), it will most likely be busy, and a bit on the noisy side but not so noisy that you need to yell to have a conversation. The Gillette location is no longer open but they did open a spot in Flemington.

I've been coming to this place for years. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the service has always been excellent. Last night I went with seven other family members to celebrate a graduation. We had food and drinks, all of which were very good. However, our server was very cold, very rude and honestly needs some serving 101 classes. For starters, four out of our eight party members arrived and asked for eight waters for the table. She said "well I'll bring you four because it's pointless for me to bring waters if people aren't going to drink them." Like woah, excuse me? This is a restaurant. It's super customary to just serve water. And now the server is really just making more work for herself. Also if they don't drink the waters, so what? Okay that means they will order other drinks which are actual $$$ and will contribute to her tip. Really foolish thinking on her part. These types of interactions occurred all night. She was very aggressive and rude in her communication. It was so awkward and we were nothing but kind and patient with her. Im also someone that tips well, so it pained me to leave less than 20% but I truly had no choice. We would have left a massive tip with a party of 8 - so I have no idea what her issue was. I love this place and have for years but last night leaves a very unfortunate and sour taste in my mouth (not due to the delicious food).

Unusually busy restaurant, but food isn't very good. They are known for their pizza. Usually I'm a huge fan of thin crust, but this is completely lacking in flavor. Similar to a tasteless cracker. Very small pies for the price. The largest size is probably equivalent to a regular small pie. I've tried their food a few times now. Would love to see this place improve, but it hasn't seem to change at all.

Had a work party at Chimney Rock Inn and was very satisfied with the service. The staff was quick and accommodating. The menu was HUGE and everyone seemed to be happy with what they ordered. I did not enjoy the beef brisket, I couldn't eat it because it was so fatty. The waitress was so kind and took it off my bill without me even asking because I did not eat it. The fries however, were delicious. I would definitely come back here and try something other than the brisket. I especially love that they have such a large selection of gluten free meals!! The vibe is a nice tavern vibe, could come to eat with family or even just grab some drinks with friends. Will definitely be back!

My whole family has enjoyed coming to Chimney Rock Inn from time to time over the last 15 or more years. It's always been a good family restaurant, and recently, they have been excellent! I have to give a special shout out to our server, Michelle, who was extra attentive and made our time here relaxing and comfortable. I tried the newest item on the menu, the mahi-mahi handheld sandwich on a brioche bun, and it was fantastic! The whole atmosphere here is family friendly and casual, good vibes all around!

Our second time here for the anniversary and was lucky to find seats by the bar (or so I thought). The bar top was pretty gross and we were hoping someone behind the counter would give us menus or even wipe down the counter but nope. After maybe 10minutes someone finally acknowledges us and says "what can I get you?" I said "menus"... she gets us the menus and we both decide we want the pizza. She tells me we can only order one. I said we arent paying together. She says "you sat together, you came together , you're leaving together". I'm literally blown away at her reply at this point. So we order one pizza and just split it. The lady sitting next to me chimed in after she left and said "she should have just given you the pizza, and left the attitude out" I agreed. It was all really just disappointing & on top of that, just having to ask for everything. The best part was i hear another couple order 2 pizzas (we make sure to also wait and see if they get their order, they did.) My friend took a picture because he couldn't believe it. All that attitude from the waitress ..just to see some other couple get their two pizzas. Guess this establishment has a preference. We leave and as soon as we get to the parking lot my friend said "I think it's a race thing, because that ain't right".

So bummed out they removed some of our favorite items from the menu. We went for Taco Tuesday as we were craving the Al Pastor tacos and Carolina slaw. Both were taken off the menu. We got the ground beef and chicken tacos, but they hardly had any filling in them. No brisket tacos either. Won't be back for taco Tuesday anymore. :-(

We've been consistently coming to Chimney Rock Inn for years and always look forward to our favorite dishes. Food: the rigatoni with vodka sauce is always delicious and highly recommend upgrading to the French onion soup. We always start with the margherita Rosa as an appetizer. It's the perfect bar pie with a nice thin crust and delicious vodka sauce. Service: always have great service. Our server was attentive and quick to refill our drinks. Ambiance: this is more of a casual, family space. Our family threw a baby shower here in the past and everyone loved it!

went to chimney rock last night for the first time in a while. I'm thinking they changed their crust, because our pizza was awful. mainly because of the crust. We got the margarita rosa. at this point, I have no need to return. their pizza used to be sooo good. Not anymore.

Usual great experience. No better value/quality ratio as for food and drinks. Friendly service from beginning to end. Plenty of parking.

Unfortunately the vegan options are very hit or miss. The vegan pizza was a disappointment .

As always the pizza was fantastic we had half sausage and half plain the beer was ice cold and Michele was once again a fabulous bartender

Food is good. Not great. It's comfy as long as you are a big or bigger person and they sit you on a booth. The most ridiculous booth I have ever seen. Body builder? Nope. You have to be 180 pounds or LESS to sit in a booth. The table doesn't even adjust. Of course the staff is young and what do they know? This place needs a remodeling big time. Things could be a lot better in this place. Seems it hasn't caught up to the times for a while now.

I've been going here for years. Some of the best thin crust pizza around. Everything else on the very large menu is good. Never has a bad meal there.

Oh boy, and if you're a yelper and you see a review starting with a 'oh boy' you are well aware what's to follow. Read a few good reviews. and was recommended to a friend specifically for the gluten-free pizza, which was ok as per my wife. Hmmm, where to start.... We'll, the sauce on all the pies was flat and left all of us wondering where the flavor went? Cracker type crust which is super light and 16in is smaller that it appears, so you'll need double what you'd normally order. Now she did like the mushroom/truffle flavor on the gluten-free pizza. The buffalo wings were not only slightly over cooked but absolutely no hint of heat for any reason whatsoever. Hello? Don't call them buffalo wings without heat and entirely toooooo greasy. They actually put celery in the same container as the wings for a take out order which as expected rendered them limp once we got home so, they went from the container to the garbage. Quaint bar with many beer and specialty drink options. I had a Tito Bloody Mary that they garnish with tater tots and bacon at $11 and got the job done. The place was clean but dated and seemed old but clean and the service was exceptional. I'll update this review if I'd come back but some basics that threw us because expectations high and we felt they were not met. Mehhh 2.5 stars.

While visiting this area of New Jersey, I stopped by this place with my girlfriend for some food and drinks. We came on a Saturday night and it was very crowded. We decided to sit at the bar area since seats were available and didn't have to wait. We started out by ordering some beers. I went with a broken heels ipa to start. It was delicious. Knowing I was ordering food, I switched over to Miller Lites afterward, as they are less heavy. We started out trying the Buffalo shrimp as an app. We both really enjoyed this dish. Perfect about of Buffalo sauce used. After a little bit, I ordered the Cowboy Burger with Cajun fries. This burger was amazing. It was juicy, seasoned great, and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed this burger so much. The fries were a nice pairing with the burger, too. My girlfriend went with the beef brisket dish. This was very good as well, but the burger was the star dish here. I definitely recommend getting a burger here. Overall, this was a great spot.

Beautiful place but don't understand how it was crowded the food was absolutely terrible . Worst French onion soup and the th most horrible burger I ever had insanely salty not juicy and the fries stunk .. wish I could hav got my money back it was awful experience food wise

Loved the place! Rather huge, family friendly dining place with very reasonably priced fare. Don't miss out on their Taco Tuesdays and also their vegan selection (which is very decent). Ordered vegan tacos which were good and with serving count of 3 tacos. Nacho player was good but strangely, they were pretty miserly with their salsa. Nachos without salsa?! Very busy place but they do move the line. Friendly wait staff and expect to see lots of Lillie leaguers and their coaches at this venue.

Another great dinner at The Rock... I just had to stop by for my favorite thin crust pizza. The server took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. I saw they had potato pancakes so I ordered just a side order which was 2 cakes w/ applesauce. They were ok but not what I'm accustomed to. They were small and thick and they were a little soggy. I wouldn't get them again. I'm used to thinner cakes that are really crispy. My hubby got his favorite French onion soup. He always orders this here and he enjoyed it. I also got a small tossed salad. It's supposed to come with homemade croutons but I didn't get any. I wasn't going to bother to ask so I just ate it. Onto the main event, the pizza. I ordered my pizza with half sausage, half plain. It was thin crispy and delicious. The slices are cut small which I like. I had 3 and I was full. So I have plenty of leftovers. My hubby wasn't in the mood for pizza so he ordered the Cowboy burger which has bacon, cheddar, BBQ sauce, and onion crisps. For his side he wanted sweet potato fries but they don't have them so he ordered some other sweet potato wedges. He really didn't care for them. I tried one and it was kind of mushy. He did enjoy his burger. Our server was very nice and everyone there is always friendly. We'll definitely be back!

How could you order the rock chopped salad and the other food comes to the table before the salad arrives not only does the salad not arrive at the same time it does not come to the table until the other meal was already finished just horrible service

Food is always gross. Had the Louisiana hot chicken sandwich and I could not even eat it. I like hot but this was disgusting. I have tried this place several times and the quality and portion sizes are ridiculous. The only good thing about this place is the beer is cold.

Chimney Rock is a good, family friendly place with great thin crust pizza and tons of other food options from pasta to sandwiches. I knew about the beer and wine selection but was surprised this time by a great margarita! Others also had cocktails and all were so good! My chipotle pasta was nicely Al dente tossed in a light sauce with a smokey, spicy, just slightly sweet flavor and garnished with fresh green onions. I liked it and anything served hot gets an extra point in my book. The fried chicken sandwiches were good but looked messy. A word of caution, I tried my daughter's Nashville hot sandwich and it was really spicy. The chips for the nachos were stale and the brownie blast needed more brownie blast. Service was great and friendly. It's best to make a reservation since it's always busy.

We got takeout tonight. My son just had to have the honey Siracha pizza. He absolutely loves it. He got it with no spinach or onions. Cooked to order. I got the chicken tacos. I have never had them here. They were disappointing. They don't have much taste and I wasn't a fan of the double tortillas on each. They were not crispy and tasteless. I added pico and cheese at home and that helped a little. I wouldn't order the tacos again. We also got the mozzarella sticks for appetizer. The staff is always great at Chimney Rock. Service is quick. Ambiance is always nice.

I really enjoy the cozy feeling of this place and they have wonderful service and great specials throughout the week. Their pizza is very good. We happen to come on a Monday and they were doing a special for 28 inch plain pizza for $19.99. We just had to order it to see what it was all about holy moly. This pizza was huge and very tasty. The slices were so large, but it was thin crust, so you didn't feel guilty eating a few.

First time trying Chimney Rock Inn. Great food and amazing pizza. Definitely would recommend. Service was awesome at the bar.
