The restaurant had an old school setting. I ordered chicken rice and Hainanese Porck Chop. The food came pretty fast (less than 10 minutes) even it was at noon and was full of customers. It was the best Chicken Rice I had in Singapore, silky smooth, fragrant rice. Pork Chop was top notch. I felt the nostalgic taste of overseas Hainanese cuisine. Reasonable price. Best experience.❤️❤️

Chin Chin at Purvis Street offers a vibrant dining experience with bold flavours and a lively atmosphere. The dishes we tried were well-executed, packed with punchy Thai-inspired flavours, and beautifully presented. The ambience is energetic and modern, making it a great spot for a fun night out. Unfortunately, the signature chicken was sold out, so we didn’t get to try what many people rave about. That was a slight letdown, especially since it’s one of their highlights. That said, the rest of the menu still delivered, and the quality of the food we had did not disappoint. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. Overall, a strong four-star experience — great food and vibes, but missing out on the chicken kept it from being a full five stars.

It's a popular Hainanese restaurant with quite a crowd when I reached around 6PM, had to queue for 5 to 10 mind at most. Food was served quickly and had mixed reviews on the flavors! Among the 4 dishes I ate, the stars were Hainanese Mix Veg & Steamed Chicken. The flavors from the Mix Veg was fantastic and savory, whilst the chicken were tender and smooth. Even the chicken rice itself was tasty! The Hainanese Prawn Roll were crispy however, the fillings lack flavor and needed the sweet sauce to supplement. The sweet and sour pork was decent but felt like it was missing something. Otherwise, the overall experience was good and I intend to return and try other dishes on the menu

Sgd23 for chicken and veg for 2pax, 1 place chicken rice, and 2 iced aloe vera. Chicken was juicy but had quite some bones, veg which was stir fried kailan was incredibly flavoursome and fried just enough to be cooked yet crunchy. Packed to the brim on a Friday at 1.30pm, our party of 2 was made to share a small table with another party of 2. Only cash payment or paynow. Place was clean, service was prompt. Will come back with others.

Probably one of the best chicken rice restaurants in Singapore! The white steam chicken is always cooked to perfection and goes so well with the chilli, ginger and black sauce condiments. In addition, they are generous with the chicken soup to go well with the meal. Try the bean sprout with salted fish. Super super yummy. A taste of Singapore!

The chicken is succulent, cooked to preserve the taste. All the dishes are well done. Recommended. Seats are limited, so book for less waiting.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Chin Chin appears to be a locals spot for chicken rice and is a zhi zhar spot near Bugis. Dining is available both indoors and outdoors. Despite an open door, there were big fans and multiple air conditioners to keep diners comfortable. Restaurant appears to be cash only Started off with the sambal kang kong which was flavorful and well stir fried although the one from Hong Kong Family Novena I felt was better. The 1/4 chicken lower mixed plate was ok. The roast chicken was cold and slightly dried out and the white chicken was fresh with no dipping sauces needed. The prawn roll were lacklustre and they were rather bland, even with the sweet and sour chili sauce. Service was decent. Many of the staff wore a mask along with their work uniform. Food came out quickly shortly after ordering. $36/head for dinner with plenty of leftovers

Came with family for a quick and delicious dinner - food was delicious, the best hainanese chicken during my short stay in Singapore this time. The chicken was perfectly juicy and flavorful, to the point where my mom was willing to even eat the white meat! Rice was on point, and I kept spooning for more (esp to drizzle the various sauces over). We also ordered the cereal prawns, dou miao for veggies, and bitter melon with pork ribs. Prawns were crunchy and fresh, the clear second fave dish of the night. Docking a star because of an awkward service encounter - when ordering, we asked the server for bitter melon with ribs. The dish came out with only ribs; we asked where the bitter melon was, at which point, the server started raising her voice and insisting we didn't order that. No matter what we said, she argued with us saying we didn't order the bitter melon. I'm sorry, but there's no way to prove we didn't, and it would make much more sense for the restaurant to instead serve the dish we requested. Ultimately she brought the dish back to the kitchen, and someone else (likely a manager) brought out the correct dish, but by that point, the dish wasn't really enticing nor tasty. Luckily the other food made the meal great so we'll be back, but fair warning to confirm and double check your order next time. Also they don't really take card, even with a high bill, so bring cash.

This is a bit a of a "late" review, seeing as I was in Singapore end of March, LOL. But we don't get to review food in another country often, so I thought I'd throw this out there, in case anyone was looking for good Hainanese Chicken Rice while in Singapore! I have NOT succeeded finding the best one here in the SoCal area yet...so having had a chance to eat a staple in Singapore just helped my cravings! Chin Chin is an older establishment, and has been around for as long as I can remember, and it's set in an older part of Singapore, where the old shophouses still exist, just restored for the most part. Do not expect super service - it's not known for that. BUT it does have an extensive menu besides just famous Chicken Rice! I had the luxury of family with me, so we were able to try a lot more other dishes besides chicken rice, including fish head curry, "chap chye" or mixed stir-fry veggies, pork cutlet, stir-fried bean sprouts, bitter melon with egg, sweet & sour pork, and other Hainanese staples. They also had a variety of local iced drinks, which would be absolutely a must when it's so hot in Singapore! One of the best places for chicken rice, it was as expected, super moist and soft, fresh tasting and flavorful. It may really be why it's nearly impossible to find authentically similar chicken rice here in the US - fresh chicken! Not sure when I will return to Singapore again, but it will definitely be one of my usual stops when I get back - a good place to get a quick fill of chicken rice, before heading out after to get local Straits coffee (another staple in Singapore) or a dessert shop in the area!

White chicken is tender and fragrant. Love the chili sauce and ginger sauce especially. Food are all nice and cheap but no service. Drinks are also great.

I prefer the chicken rice here when in this area, maybe because it serves roast chicken. The pricing (I think $4 for individual serve) is similar to those at food court but the portion is way bigger as it comes in 2 layers of meat on a plate. You get a miserly amount in food court. The chicken is flavorful and the breast meat is not that dry. The chili sauce is quite spicy so go sparingly on it. The grated ginger sauce is just ginger with no scallions or chopped green onions in it. The service is typical of coffee shop - efficient and brusque. There are other dishes available but I have yet to try any.

An excellent meal! A Singapore friend suggested that we eat here. There is no air conditioning (a few ceiling fans around the large seating area) and they do not accept credit cards. It appeared that we were the only Americans in the restaurant at the time. The chicken and rice was outstanding! We ordered a whole chicken, half boiled and half roasted. Both types of chicken were moist and tasty. The rice was also delicious. We also shared a pork chop which was outstanding. The restaurant is a short walk from many hotels in the area. The prices were very reasonable.

A friend who is a local resident took me here and it was one of my favorite meals in Singapore. The Hainanese style chicken rice was the centerpiece of our amazing and affordable meal. Very informal place with friendly staff. If in doubt ask for suggestions and go with it. We did and loved it. Be adventurous if this all seems new to you. So glad a friend took me here and did all the hard work!

We stopped by for a late lunch after reading reviews to avoid the lunch crowd. Food was delicious and served quickly. Hainanese boiled chicken rice was well worth the recommendation to visit and all our other dishes (sizzling beef plates and seafood) we delicious as well. Reasonably priced and local charm this was a great place to eat!

I've been here several times over the past decade yet I've never had the Hainanese pork chop. Big mistake! It was so tasty we ordered a second serving! Besides the pork chop, we also had the chicken rice, eggplant with salted fish, kailan and hei zhor (minced meat roll). They were good but not outstanding to specially return. The bill came to about $50 for 4 persons.

Chin Chin Eating House has been my go-to place for fast and convenient zichar and chicken rice since young. This place is what a zichar place is like - hot, crowded, noisy and big tables with lazy susans in their middle. A typical local eatery with no airs about it and where people can just come and have a good meal at any time of the day. Other than the chicken rice and chicken that are must-trys, I will recommend their pork chop and chap chye. If you are a tourist and want to try local food, get out of Raffles Hotel and walk one street down to Chin Chin Eating House!

Situated along the shop houses of Purvis Street, Chin Chin Eating House facade is one of the most humble looking among her neighbouring modern eateries. Astounded by the crowd during dinner time, we walked into the eating place and tried to grab a seat. Lo and behold, there was a table for 2, just nice! Besides having good pork chop, they do sell Haianese Chicken Rice, Claypot Mutton Soup which I believe had been drawing the hordes thus its full house on a saturday night. The restaurant interior was simple and decent with hanging ceiling fans at each sector above. Chinese Lanterns were seen hanging from the florescent lights too. Haianese Pork Chop, being one of its Must Try on their Menu had been awarded for its Best Food for 2011 and 2012. It's not quite frequent we come across this dish on the menu moreover it had won the award. Having prepared similar dish, I would say that it was quite good but not really what I would expected. The dish was served with few pototoes wedes and boiled green peas with a bowl of tomato gravy. The piece of lean meat was fried to golden brown with crumbs coated evenly at its exterior. It was cut into smaller portions equally and was served. Braised Ee Mee tasted better than average. It's black braised sauce was aromatic and noodles was generously drenched, a little more would have the gravy overflowed. Having tried only 2 dishes, I would definitely be back for more when chance come! Total amount spend for 2 with drinks: $30

The chicken rice is very good, maybe comparable to Tian Tian. We had 1.5 chicken, a fishhead claypot, tofu claypot, pork chop, kangkong, sweet potato leaves. Very satisfied group of 13 people. The portion is decent, the service is quick. The servers is the usual coffeeshop standards but they serve good food at great value.

This seems like a popular place and got good ratings so we brought our visitor here. The chicken is pretty good, but I also can't say it's a lot better than any of the other equally well known chicken rice places. Personally I prefer the chicken rice at Tian Tian or Boon Tong Kee but I have not tried the roast chicken though so perhaps that's better? One of their signature dishes is the Hainanese pork chop but I found that to be just ok - the meat is a bit dry and I prefer it to be thicker and more succulent. Other dishes like stir fried kangkung are ok but nothing special. Prices are pretty cheap so definitely a good value for money.

The Hainanese chicken rice is deliciuous, which is better than Yet Con (tho my fav is still Tian Tian :P) Half a chicken is good for 2 person. And each of us ordered a dish of chicken oil rice, which is lovely too. However, the Hainanese veggie is so-so, too watery and salty.

This restaurant is the best hainam place in.bugis. since i want to visit bugis, so i looked for a nearby place to eat local food. And they served best hainam chicken. I just haven't got a chance to taste the pork, i bet it taste great also..

Tried this place several months ago and made a point of returning because it was so good. Not sure why chicken rice isn't on their (rather extensive) menu, but that's the dish to get. Perfect tenderness and flavor, a great broth to accompany it, and the chili/ginger are so good that I get an upset stomach every time (in the best way possible - watch your spice levels, people). Right up there with Tian Tian at Maxwell.

Purvis street used to house many European families which had Hainanese chefs working for them so I'm not surprised that it is a known haunt for the best Hainanese food in town. Get the Hainanese pork chops - sweet ketchup sauce drenching crispy pork cutlet is the ultimate comfort food that reminds one of childhood meals by the grandmother. I even like that crinkle-cut fries are stir-fried into the dish too. Super old school! I've yet to try more Hainanese dishes from here but it is a safe bet if you're looking to go good old traditional!

Along the stretch of shophouse restaurants at Purvis Street, this stall has old chicken rice seller Yet Con Restaurant to compete with, but Chin Chin Eating House has nothing to worry about. In a traditional local coffee shop setting, Chin Chin Eating House sure looks like it goes way back. Studying in a nearby school, Chin Chin is an eating haunt for my friends and I. The dishes that we regularly order include chicken rice, Hainanese pork chops, Hainanese chap chye and claypot beancurd. The chicken rice has an authentic taste to it, and the chicken is blanched in cold water after cooking, making the skin smooth and the texture of the meat tender. Afterwhich, the chicken is served in a flavorful and aromatic sauce. The Hainanese pork chops here are passable but if you want a better version, try the one at Yet Con just across the street. My favorite dish at Chin Chin has to be the Chap Chye. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy and the sauce is the deal breaker. The sauce has a special oomph to it, which is provided by the dried cuttlefish strips I guess.

Best items were the chicken rice and the hainanese pork chop (like Japanese pork cutlet). Other items I did not care for. Make your own dipping sauce before meal begins. Bring your own napkins and wet wipes as there are none at this economy restaurant.

Came all the way for the chicken rice and mutton soup but the mutton soup was already sold out. First time here and it was really one of the best chicken rice I've had. Would definitely come back!!

Among all the stalls that I have tried, this is the best due to the soft fragrant rice, the chilli and the tenderness of chicken. The portion is big. Generous spring onions on the chicken soup too. S$4 for a set.

Very Very good...I love the garlic chili and crushed ginger on the table. Great food...but not cheap.

This place came recommended by a friend who lives here in Singapore. Chicken rice was pretty tasty and was only $4. Service was not great which was to be expected. The beer was only 6.30 for a large beer. Overall this place is pretty good.

Sadly, I have to give a bad report. My friend and I were really excited to eat at the Las Vegas location. We had a waitperson who seemed to know what she was doing however it turns out she just made up answers about the food as she went along. I am vegetarian, which is why we picked the restaurant (because there were many vegetable options) and I told the waiter this to be sure I wasn't ordering vegetable dishes that were made with sauces or ingredients that were meat based. I ended up with a broccoli dish from the vegetable menu made with chicken powder in the sauce (I only know this because I found rouge chicken pieces in it from being cooked in a wok that was used to cook another dish beforehand and not cleaned in between). The waitperson was nowhere to be found to fix the issue so basically my friend was done eating and I still didn't have anything to eat. We ended up leaving due to my upset stomach since I had eaten some of the broccoli before realizing it was made with chicken (I was assured the sauce was vegetarian when ordering). Be VERY careful at this restaurant if you have any food allergies or diet preferences because the wait staff appears to not be educated about the food. Thank goodness I didn't have a shellfish allergy and ended up with a dish made with shellfish.

OK food. Terrible service. No one could speak Engilsh, the wait staff ignored people they thought couldn't speak Chinese. Never going again.
