"A Serene Chinese Garden on the Shores of Lake Zurich A gift from Zurich’s sister city Kunming and located on the lake near the Zurichhorn, the China Garden stands out with its emperor-red façade and gold ornamental roof. Inside, the serene oasis includes a pond lined with willows, a small island, multiple pavilions and a beautiful pagoda. The best time to visit is in the spring, when the delicate pink-and-white plum blossoms are in full bloom. Photo © Caroline Minjolle/Zürich Tourism."

This is a nice Chinese garden that was a gift from Zurich's sister city Kunming. It's a quiet, peaceful place and entry is free, which is great. Not too crowded with tourists, so you can actually enjoy it. Good spot for taking photos - lots of pretty scenery. The garden is mostly shaded, so it's perfect when it's hot outside and you want to cool down. If you want somewhere calm to walk around for free, this is a good choice. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

The Chinese Garden in Zurich is a hidden gem and a wonderful spot for a peaceful stroll. It’s not very large, but it’s beautifully designed with traditional Chinese architecture, a charming pond full of koi fish, and detailed pavilions that reflect Chinese culture and philosophy. The garden feels like a mini getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle. Entrance is affordable, and the place is usually calm and not too crowded. It’s ideal for taking a break, relaxing, or simply enjoying nature. However, it’s worth noting that the garden is only open seasonally, so it’s best to check the schedule in advance. Overall, it’s a lovely place for a short visit—especially if you appreciate gardens, art, or Eastern aesthetics.

The Chinese Garden in Zurich is a small but beautifully designed oasis located near Lake Zurich, offering a peaceful escape from the busy city. Created as a gift from Zurich’s Chinese partner city, Kunming, the garden features traditional Chinese architecture, a serene central pond, delicate bridges, and symbolic plants like bamboo, pine, and plum. It's ideal for a quiet stroll, reflection, or a short cultural experience, especially on a sunny afternoon. While compact in size, the garden is rich in detail and atmosphere, making it a relaxing and meaningful stop—perfect for a 30-minute to 1-hour visit. Entrance is inexpensive or sometimes even free, and it's a lovely spot for families, solo visitors, or couples seeking calm by the water.

A beautiful garden near the water. The entry is free and definetly worth a vist! It was a little bit crowded, but it was also a froday afternoon and the weather was fantastic. I's recommend a vist a bit earlier in the day or during the week for it to be less crowded. Nevertheless a great place to visit.

Unique place to visit in Zurich and very authentic looking. There are even koi carp in the pond so it’s a good place to relax and take in the scenery.

Very special place for experiencing Chinese architectures! The entry is for free and the decorations in it mimicking the authentic pond, pavilion, bridges, temples, and rock mountain. Having a walk here was a unique experience to feel different vibes from outside! Recommend it!

The Chinese Gardens in Zurich is lauded as one of the most respected Temple Gardens outside of China. Its main tenet -- the Three Friends in Winter – is hidden within the garden and provides an in-depth analysis of Chinese culture: bamboo, pine, and the winter cherry, which brave the cold season in unison. Located at a tranquil green park on the shores of Lake Zurich, the Chinese Garden was a gift from the city’s Chinese sister city of Kunming for the technical and scientific support provided for the expansion of the drinking water supply and urban drainage in Kunming. At the center of the landscape is a peaceful pond with a small island, pavilions and even a small palace on the banks. The Chinese Gardens aka Chinagarten Zürich, is open daily in the spring, summer, and fall and is located at Bellerivestrasse 138 8008, Zürich.
