"A Serene Chinese Garden on the Shores of Lake Zurich A gift from Zurich’s sister city Kunming and located on the lake near the Zurichhorn, the China Garden stands out with its emperor-red façade and gold ornamental roof. Inside, the serene oasis includes a pond lined with willows, a small island, multiple pavilions and a beautiful pagoda. The best time to visit is in the spring, when the delicate pink-and-white plum blossoms are in full bloom. Photo © Caroline Minjolle/Zürich Tourism."

A hidden gem nestled along the shores of Lake Zürich, the China Garten is a serene oasis that transports you straight to the heart of traditional Chinese culture. This beautifully designed garden, a gift from Zürich’s sister city Kunming, is a masterclass in harmony and tranquility. Highlights: 🌿 Ambiance: From the moment you step inside, the hustle of the city fades away. The gentle sound of water, rustling bamboo, and the sight of koi fish gliding through the pond create a meditative atmosphere. 🏯 Architecture: Authentic pavilions, curved bridges, and intricately carved stonework showcase classic Suzhou-style design. Don’t miss the stunning “Hall of Dreams” pavilion—perfect for photos or quiet reflection. 🌸 Nature: Vibrant lotus flowers, fragrant magnolias, and meticulously pruned bonsai trees add bursts of color and life. Visit in spring for cherry blossoms or autumn for golden foliage. 👀Tips: 🆓 - Free entry and easily accessible by tram or a lakeside stroll. 🕰️ - Best enjoyed early morning or weekdays to avoid crowds. 🧺 - Combine your visit with a walk through nearby Zurichhorn Park or a picnic by the lake. Note: The garden is compact, so take your time to appreciate the details rather than rushing through. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat, a cultural experience, or simply a picturesque spot to unwind, the China Garten delivers. A must-visit in Zürich for nature lovers and curious travelers alike! *Pro tip: Read the informational plaques to learn about the garden’s symbolism—it deepens the appreciation of its design.

Lovely small neat Chinese garden. If you are spending time by Zürich lake, this place is a nice little touch to finish off your day. There is a small playground next to it if you have kids Pros: Kids friendly Free entry Well maintained and clean Mental wellbeing, quiet, peaceful, relaxed and sanctuary Good location Cons: Small, not worth visiting just to visit the garden. Def combine it with other activities such as Zürich lake or picnic

If you like to take pictures is beautiful and there's a small room with art. If you are not into taking pictures, you will stay there like 15 minutes, but it's a beautiful place

The garden is beautiful, it has a couple of very nice typical Chinese kind of temples and a house. The garden itself has a beautiful pond with Koy fish and there is a small path that does the tour of the garden. And it is free to enter. If in the area I would recommend going there.
