Awful. Totally dreadful experience. That slop of a picture is supposed to be chicken chow mein.. how do you manage to turn chow mein into a cesspool soup? There is zero noodles. The egg rolls? Hope you love cabbage in a 2 inch wonton wrapper! The wings? Didn't even have the "devil sauce" on them. The skewers were essentially jack links beef jerky but dry. Never ever again. Wasted over $50 for toxic sludge and cabbage.

Google
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANTS AROUND! EXCELLENT FOOD; HOT,FRESH MADE TO ORDER.YUM! THE STAFF IS WELL TRAINED AND QUICK TO PLEASE. I HAVE BEEN HERE 6 TIMES NOW AND THE CONSISTENCY IS THE SAME EACH TIME. KEEP UP THE GREAT SERVICE STAFF AND FOR ANYONE WILLING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW, STOP BY AND SEE FOR YOURSELF,ENJOY!

We've been here a handful of times over the years and always a great experience and delicious food. In-laws were in town so we took them here for dinner several nights ago. One of our kids has a peanut allergy and we made it clear, and they were able to accommodate. Everything we got was delicious. Service was amazing, all wait-staff is super attentive. One of the appetizers we ordered only came with 6 pieces, there were 7 of us, so they threw in a 7th piece. They even brought out extra fortune cookies for the kids. Highly recommend China Grill.

Google
This was my first visit to China Grill. I was moderately impressed because it looks like just your everyday strip mall hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but inside it opens up into another room. The service was fast and friendly, and my go-to meal of shrimp in lobster sauce was well prepared and fast to the table. The portion was good sized and when the server saw I'd picked the carrot slices out because I couldn't chew them, he said to order it without carrots next time. I was happy to hear that. The sticky rice was the right amount to go with the shrimp. I will return.

Google
This is my new favorite Chinese food restaurant!!! not only is the food great but the service is quick the vegetables are fresh and the employees and owners of the restaurant are the nicest most accommodating people :) little family owned business I highly recommend supporting this restaurant you will not be disappointed their egg foo young is out of this world and their egg drop soup is literally the best I have ever had :) thank you for always making us feel like part of your family when we come in you guys are the best!

Google
Popped in on an off chance because I was hungry, and safe to say this place is great! Staff was kind, patient, and humerous! I don't think I've ever had better grilled chicken in a restaurant in a long time too. Perfectly cooked, tender, beautifully seasoned and flavorful, and good rice to go with! Definitely worth the small wait, and definitely a place to come back to. Honestly, my ONLY complaint is the lighting, it's a little dark in there, but everything else is pretty much a 10/10! (And the chicken potstickers were nearly the size of my palm, delicious!!)

Google
First time eating here. The parking lot was full. Walked in, and the room had only a few couples in there. We laughed when they said there was a 30-minute wait for a booth. Went to the bathroom to wash our hands. There was another room that was jammed pack. That explains the wait. The food was really good. I was disappointed with the size of the egg roll. 😃 everything else was great. Will come back.

Google
Service was very quick and attentive. The atmosphere feels very clean and setting is what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. I ordered the twice cooked shrimp and egg drop soup for the choice of soup. The food was hot and fresh and had great flavor to it.

Yelp
Grabbed some takeout from China Grill for dinner one night. Service was quick, the inside during pickup was clean and the food was delicious! We picked up an order of teriyaki chicken, orange chicken and an egg roll. The chicken on both was great and not full of fat or weird. The flavors were perfect. The egg roll was stuffed and served with a house made hot mustard. It was so good with the sweet and sour. Overall, a great stop for a Chinese food fix. Great food, big portions for your money!

Yelp
I score on the food first. Atmosphere is typical for a local Chinese restaurant. Most importantly it was kept clean enough. Food and service were great. That excites me since I don't know of many good Chinese restaurants. We only had two dishes off the lunch menu. I ordered the chicken curry with dark meat which came with soup and an egg roll. We tried the hot and sour soup which was very tasty. The egg roll was really one of the best I have had in a long time. My curry dish was so good that my husband ended it up wanting more of mine. He ordered the beef and broccoli bowl which we felt had very good flavor. For the same price ($8.99) I felt my lunch plate was the better deal. I look forward to bringing my family back.

Yelp
I love the food at this restaurant but prefer take out. When I go to a restaurant I want to hear music from the region not Mix FM with commercials. It was annoying and even my guests commented. The good is amazing! I've always had fast service.

Yelp
Very good, very delicious, served fast. They are very attentive to their clientele and I never need to wait for my iced tea to be refilled. (I love that) portions are large and it's a quaint little place. Highly recommended to anyone who loves Chinese food.

Yelp
Was in the mood for some comfort food after a day of work. Found they had decent reviews, so decided to stop in. Ordered a Kirin Ichiban beer and the chicken foo yuh dinner and swapped out the fried rice with plain steamed rice and a side of lo mein. Food was good considering it was in Phoenix.

Yelp

Yelp
I get mapu tofu every week or so. My kids love it and they are picky eaters. The staff recognize me as the mapu tofu guy now.

Yelp
Great service good environment nice and clean and great food! We ate lunch in there and it was excellent. Evening and meal menu looks wonderful.

Yelp
Great spot in a plaza. Been here a couple times and both were great experiences. Super nice employees, delicious food. Not overly sugary and sweet like unauthentic American Asian food, feels very homey.
google avatar

Raquel H.

Yelp
To be honest I was a bit scared to try this place because of my past experience with other restaurants. I am so happy I gave them a try because it was all so delicious and it was pretty quick for the size of our order. It was also on Christmas so it was nice that they were open. We have since been back. All take out, so I can't really speak on the location but for pick up the food still gets there hot. We will definitely order again

Yelp
I love this place. Food is excellent! Service is great too. I really love getting the dinner or lunch specials. I introduced my parents to this restaurant and now it's my Dad's favorite spot.

Katrinka T.

Yelp
It was the first time eating there with my sister, I could only find it when it was closed! Well I finally remembered the correct location. I had Moo Goo Gai Pan. It was good and even better the next day! I also had Shrimp fried rice. My sister had Combination Lo Mein & Chicken egg rolls. We will be going back!

Daisy G.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! Give your money to people who actually give proper portions. This would be a great place to go for people on a diet. If you want to satisfy your appetite or get your moneys worth do not come. Smallest servings i've ever been served in my life. Not only are the servings so small, but the food is incredibly bland and flavorless like they didn't even season the food. It genuinely tastes like school lunch. Save your money, there's so many different chinese kitchens who actually take pride in their dishes!

Yelp
This place is one of the best Chinese food spots on the west side. Ice cold beers, fun drinks, and the specialty grill items are top quality. I have been coming here for years and they are consistent. Family run restaurant with amazing menu items. Give it a try you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I came to this area to shop at Lee Lees international grocery store, decided to look on Yelp for Chinese food. China grill had almost 5 stars, less than a mile away. So glad we stopped! Traditional Chinese service and food. Had the lunch specials, Mongolian beef, vegetable shrimp, and veg lo mein al la carte. Came with egg drop soup, spring roll, choice of rice. Great prices too. The Mongolian beef has just enough green onions and fried rice noodles, it was so good. This is a more relaxed Chinese restaurant and people were taking their time eating. We had to get back home, but next time definitely stopping again and will take our time. Nice atmosphere and clean. Attentive servers. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures. 5 stars !!!

Steve E.

Yelp
I have sampled many appetizers and entrées on the extensive menu. Nothing ever disappoints. Moo Shu Pork is my absolute favorite. The service is excellent. The dining area is clean and inviting. China Grill offers the best Asian cuisine on the west side of town.

Jay S.

Yelp
Really good food and service came in for a late night dinner and the dinner specials are perfect portion. Never been before but will be back now! Had the chicken curry and sesame chicken.

Richard M D.

Yelp
So far...this place beats every other Chinese restaurant in our immediate area. Service was good; ambiance typical and food prepared well, with ample portions.

Virginia J.

Yelp
First time experience wasn't exciting. The food was warm wasn't hot. Some of the stuff tasted OK but I have a thing about warm, cool food. It should be hot and it wasn't so that kind of spoil it for me.

Yelp
China Grill is a tasty treat. We've been here several times now and came away impressed with both the food and family who owns the restaurant. They are very friendly and go out of their way to make your visit memorable. A few musts when you come here: Potstickers, Spicy Won-Tons, all of the Chicken dishes (Kung Pao, General Tso, Orange Chicken), and their Soups. We also like their Plum Wine. Expect to pay $15 to $25 each, depending on how ravished you are for some yum Chinese comfort food. Enjoy!

Yelp
We've been coming here for decades. It is always delicious, consistent and friendly service. Not one thing I would change.

Yelp
The food was good. Visited here while on a business trip with a friend. Very friendly staff, friendly ambiance, excellent service, and attentive. The staff makes you feel comfortable enough to clean up and put your dishes in the kitchen as of you were home. Overall, great experience.

Bailey J.

Yelp
We love this place. The owner is the sweetest and takes time to ask us how our family is. The food has NEVER disappointed. Try the mandarin ribs!

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! VERY small portions and not worth the price plus the gentleman who answered the phone was very rude and hung up on!
google avatar

Bill R.

Yelp
This place is really good. They have some of the best hot and sour soup I've had since I've moved to Phoenix.

Kevin D.

Yelp
Food was adequate. Nothing special. They must think they're a 5 star restaurant as they charge $3 extra if you want to share a meal. Then they strongly suggest ordering an appetizer to "avoid" the extra charge. Entrance is all cluttered with boxes and what looks to be gym lockers. Don't appreciate the boosting of sales through BS Charges. It was our first visit and probably will be our last. Don't like being coerced into ordering more food than we want or being penalized with extra fees.

Yelp
Oh my goodness this place is amazing. My husband, kids and I was out and about we seen this place while we were turning. My husband and I decided to try this place since he's heard good things about it. They didn't disappoint in anything. Everyone was very polite, well mannered and happy people. Which is hard to find nowadays. This is now our place that we'll be going from now on. I'm an extremely picky person when it comes to my Chinese food and I won't tell anyone it's good if it's not.

Richard B.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant and we were not disappointed! We ordered mu shu pork and it was delicious! Lots of filling and was a great hoisin sauce. The plate came with four wrappers filled to bursting with pork, vegetables and sprouts. We also ordered crispy shrimp which was devine. It was really nice and crispy. We shared a small order of hot and sour soup which is definitely some of the best we have ever had. We are so pleased with our experience we will definitely be back. Being new to the area it was great that our first experience with a restaurant was so delicious and the service excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
This my new "go to" place for Chinese food. We ordered the veggies with chicken and it was more than enough for 2 people. We ordered a cup of the egg drop soup and the hot and sour. Both were delicious. Great waitstaff and can't wait to try more dishes.
google avatar

Athena M.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in AZ hands down, the service is always quick and friendly! Environment is quiet and cute. Been coming here for over 10 years. It's always been the best. I love China grill

Dustin L.

Yelp
We have eaten here a few times and it was good. Not sure if they switched kitchen staff but we got delivery tonight and the food was terrible. Orange chicken was deep fried with no sauce on it, hot and sour soup was sweet. Low mein was terrible as well. We will not being go back. Waste of $40.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
These are kind people. They take a great deal of pride in their service and the quality of their food. Only decent hot and sour soup I have found locally. Steamed vegetables palatable. I'm pretty habitual with my orange chicken but will branch out. Bit of a drive for me, well worth it. Look forward to more exploration of their substantial and varied menu. Kudos!

Yelp
Food was fantastic! The service was great and the people who work there are friendly and fun to talk to. It's a great little place off of thunderbird in Peoria and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food!

Yelp
My wife and I have been steadily trying new Chinese food joints around the local area and yesterday evening, Yelp recommended China Grill. It's conveniently located off 75th and Thunderbird on the cusp of Glendale and Peoria. It's your typical Chinese restaurant that focuses more so on their take-out customers than the customers who dine-in. There is ample seating for a Chinese restaurant which left me pleasantly surprised when I walked inside. I wasn't expecting that. The interior is clean, the staff is friendly and my takeout order was placed promptly. I had our food in less than 15 minutes which always amazes me. How in the heck did you cook all of this food in a span of 12 minutes? I went with the Mongolian Beef which is one of their signature dishes. Typically, this is a fairly spicy dish and unfortunately, it had no spice at all. In fact, certain bites actually tasted sweet to me. The thin rice noodles were flavorless, but the veggies were crisp and crunchy which was great. Normally, the peas and broccoli are green mush, but I enjoyed the freshness of the veggies. The rice was steamed well. The eggrolls were among the best I've ever had, but the Mongolian Beef entree is what left me disappointed. I am definitely going to go back because overall, the service was excellent and the eggroll was phenomenal... but that darn entree just ruined it for me. I am going to try them again and order something different next time because I think they deserve a second chance. The order itself was perfect and the food is very reasonable. Plenty of ample parking and a very convenient location! I would recommend this place to fellow Yelp'ers, but I would steer clear of the entree I ordered unless they re-vamp the recipe. Service, pricing and location is reason enough to give them another go.

Yelp
Yummy lunch, Sweet and Sour Chicken was hot, flavorful and portion was just right for lunch. Service was great. Always a great go to.

Yelp
Good and service is always good. My favorite Chinese restaurant! I always do the Mongolian beef and chicken options. The shrimp dishes never disappoint either.

Yelp
Stopped after a fun day of family time. Found on YELP and very glad. Cozy atmosphere (read small), happily only one table when we arrived. There are tables and half booths. I sat in a half booth which was very comfortable. The tables move so access to the booth was easy, whew! Although it was lunch, our very nice server advised the dinner menu was available. We decided on the lunch dishes. I had the Crazy Spicy chicken. It was really good, but salty. It was spicy as its name indicated. Vegetables were crunchy, with tender pieces of chicken. I'd love to order this again but it was too salty for my taste. One person ordered the Chicken Lo Mein and loved it. Another ordered the S&S Chicken and highly recommended it. We also ordered Pork Fried Rice which was so amazing it completely saved the day! Full of big pieces of BBQ pork, not the small pieces I'm used to. It was well seasoned, not salty, not greasy. Perfect. Speaking of perfect: if you're a Hot & Spicy soup lover, you need to get over here quickly because this soup is the King of soups. The next time I'm n this area i will be sure to pick up Hot and Sour soup as well as the Pork Fried rice. All and all, lunch portions seem small, but were filling. No one left hungry. As I mentioned, our server was very attentive to us and I appreciate her helping us choose our selections. I'll definitely be back!

Sydney L.

Yelp
Love this place! Their food is always great, the girl who answers the phone is always so nice and the guy who usually delivers to us remembers who we are every time!

Yelp
Ordered and paid for Honey Shrimp and received Honey Chicken. We have not eaten chicken, beef or pork in 5 years and of course we took a bite of this without second guessing. Since we don't eat this we had to drive all the way back to get our correct shrimp order where they thought I'd bring back the chicken that we touched and bit?? To reuse? Or because they didn't believe me? I just hope we don't get sick from eating poultry now. Be careful ordering here if you have allergies or diet restrictions.
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
They are really nice. Good service. Sauces veggies rice are great. BUT WHERE IS THE CHICKEN? MY KUNG PAO chicken had hardly any chicken. And the few pieces there were, had lots of fat - poor quality chicken. Been going there for 10 or 15 years. And over last 4 years- very disappointed. Cant you afford to include protein? And quality protein? So disappointing. Spent $27 for 2 meals. And hardly any chicken. Want to frequent you - you are blocks away. But we want meat with our food. ‍ Oh and this isn't first experience with lacking chicken here. Been like the last 5 times there. Even had breaded chicken where it was all breading and no chicken. We like chicken with our chinese food. And unfortunately China Grill is apparently anti chicken. Such a shame
google avatar

Tim P.

Yelp
Local spot. Typical mom and pop Chinese restaurant. There is something that we found here - all their recipes are a notch above their local competitors. Is it fresher vegetables? More food prep care? Williningness to take more time? We have not figured it out, but we like it. Everything we have tried we have been pleasantly impressed by. Note this is not SF, Toronto, NYC, or Chicago high end chinese cuisine, but for my local neighborhood joint, China Grill is a step above the rest. As a plus, very friendly service.

Yelp
Fairly good size trip mall place with competent service, and good food. With one exception...I didn't care for the egg drop soup. Reason? Mushrooms in it. I love mushrooms but apparently not the variety in this particular egg drop soup. (I'd venture to say that this is the first time I've encountered really big slices of 'shrooms that didn't add any flavor.) Egg drop is pretty standard in my order and even without the mushrooms the soup/broth itself was rather just "OK." Better than the last place I had egg drop soup but far from "delicious." The mongo beef was solid four star as was one of the Chef's Specialities "Bobo Chicken." So those two items were indeed worth signing up for a repeat visit, likely sooner than later. We'll definitely try here again and I'll give the won-ton soup a shot and see if I can't overcome them egg-dropping the ball ;) I do like that they keep business open during the "slow time" between lunch and dinner. Thanks!

Yelp
Love China grill! We eat here often and always enjoy our meal and the service. Food is great and for a good price. Been coming for years and plan to be back for many more!!

Gina C.

Yelp
I've been to this place twice and both times was amazing. Food and service was great. We ordered a small soup before our meal and it was a nice big hearty bowl. Tasted amazing. I got the vegetable and my friend got the wonton that had broccoli, mushrooms, onion, chicken and water chestnuts in it. I got the Singapore rice noodle and asked if they would make it a combination because I just saw chicken or shrimp and he the so nice and said yes and there wasn't even an extra charge! It was amazing! My friend got the curry beef with rice and loved it! I will definitely be making this one of my favorite go to's!!

Penny V.

Yelp
My husband and I recently found China Grill and now we go about once a week. The staff is very friendly and the food is really great. There is a wide menu to choose from.

Yelp
I feel so discriminated upon. My 1st time here; & often times I don't eat alone. But I was craving Chinese food & really hungry. So I stopped here, because Chinese food is always good to eat at a restaurant with all the condiments available. I arrived there & the hostess/server sat me way in the back. Then a waiter came & was pretty much rushing me. Drink then trying to get my order before I even had time to relax from coming into the restaurant in 115 degree AZ summer heat. I order a Lunch special ; right after I ordered it appeared it only took about 2 minutes to serve me. During this time I was eating; another couple was sat in the same location as I at the next table. I was enjoying my food (though not the best), until I saw a piece of hair in the plate. Speaking about the plate; they served it on a paper floral plate to me. As I was leaving & during my time there, others had real plates & utensils. Needless to say; I'm not that type of person & I support small businesses; & didn't want to ruin "their" day; I did leave a nice tip, but what I should have done was written a note of good tips. Since I was unable to eat a proper lunch; I had to refill by going through a drive through. So upsetting. $17 dollars later for a lunch special at a chinese restaurant. They also up charged me for $2 for noodle substitution rather than rice. Awful service, & why was I only person getting served on a paper plate. I knew I should have gone to my favorite place "Great Wall" in Phoenix - 35th Ave & Camelback - VERY Highly recommended

Yelp
I picked up Mongolian beef (my fav), Mooshu pork, orange chicken, house fried rice, General Tdo chicken, beef broccoli and an order of won tons for $90.49 yesterday. This was hands down the best Chinese food I have had in Phoenix! The kind man who took my order was awesome!!!! He assured me my order was complete and with the extra sauces I requested. The food quality was amazing. Beef & chicken was great quality and the flavors were savory good. Unlike some Chinese food can be too salty, or mostly breading or gristle. This was not. Thank you for making my take out experience easy and everyone loved the food!!!! They all want to go back!
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
Everything I've tried is yummy, most often served by owners family members. Mongolian beef is probably my fav! Don't be discouraged by the casualness of the entrance, it's a family business. Pretty soon you'll appreciate the warmth of being welcomed into their place to eat.
