Never recieved my food!! I ordered through uber eats i had to ask for an update twice. I decided to call and cancel my order since it doesnt let me on the app. The worker (Sandy) said she was the only one at the resturant. i asked to speak to the manager or anyone else. She said she was alone not even the kitchen staff was working then she hung up the call. Very poor resturant maners. No idea how they are still in business. I will never order from here again

They offer Daily Lunch specials, even on the weekends. The flavors are there, and the portions are hearty. Definitely a value if you are seeking a best bang for the buck dining. The beef chow fun noodles are extra wide, I find this to be a treat as it's most likely hand made noodles and not from a factory.

The food is good and everything else is fine. They need to fire their delivery man. I ordered delivery to my workplace and asked if he could come in and he comes in mad and starts yelling at me about wanting a cash tip. I explained I didn’t have cash but online it showed me that my tip was included in my total. As I tried to explain this to him, he proceeded to yell at me in front of my customers at my work site. He then told me to never order delivery again. Extremely rude and hostile, would not recommend delivery at ALL.

I ordered from this establishment for the first time today via DoorDash, only to find out they handle their own deliveries. That was no issue for me - until the delivery itself became one of the most appalling experiences I’ve ever had. The delivery driver showed up and banged on my door so loudly and aggressively that it startled everyone in my home - it sounded like a police raid. This behavior was not only unprofessional but downright hostile. The entire incident was recorded on my Ring camera. When I opened the door, the situation escalated further: the delivery personnel began yelling at my and refused to hand over my food, demanding a tip before I even received the order. Let me be clear - I always tip, and I value the hard work delivery drivers do. But tips are earned through service, not extorted with aggression. The delivery person’s attitude was disgusting. He was loud, confrontational, and completely out of line. Based on his behavior alone, he received nothing - and rightfully so. I called the restaurant immediately to report the incident. The woman who answered was very kind and apologetic, and I appreciate that. But a simple apology doesn’t undo the level of aggression I experienced. Let me be frank: the next customer might not handle this as calmly as I did - especially if they feel threatened at their own front door. This kind of behavior is dangerous and unacceptable. I strongly urged the restaurant to take this seriously. This driver should not be interacting with customers in any capacity. If this is the standard for your delivery service, I will not be ordering again - and I won’t be alone.

The lady at the register has a bad attitude. I ordered shrimp with broccoli and waited at least fifteen minutes for it because she forgot about my order. After finally getting my shrimp broccoli, I found that the shrimps weren’t even fully cooked. I’ll never go back to this place again.

When I lived in the East Village, I ordered from China King at least once a month. Sesame Chicken, General Tso, and the Moo Goo Gai Pan were all excellent. I was recently in the area and had it delivered and it did not disappoint.

There was a piece of hair in my food and I did not notice till the very end. I feel thoroughly disgusted. After thinking back I noticed that the cooks don't wear hair nets. I don't expect food quality food from a Chinese take out to be good, but hygiene is non-negotiable when it comes to food.

I found a dead rat in my chicken and broccoli , at first I thought it was barbecue but it ended being a small mouse . Still tasty .

The service has been absolutely terrible. We've been ordering from them for years and the past few times our order just take forever. Tonight I ordered and I called after the delivery window passed by 39 minutes. China king answered and said it will be 15 minutes before I even said anything and hung up. I called back many times because I had questions and it went straight to voicemail. I called 20 minutes later and the guy answers and says "do you want me to cancel". Mind you, it's been an hour so I asked if the food actually left. He proceed to tell me to "shut the f up you b". We've been ordering from then for 5 years. we will never order from them again!!!

Save yourself the money. You may think like me that the reviews could be wrong or harsh, they aren't, this is TERRIBLE. The crab Rangoons had NO crab, just grease and cream cheese, the soup was so artificially dyed and tasted soured and oily. The wontons tasted like the meat had gone bad. Literally everything that could have been wrong went wrong with this order. They also took over an hour to deliver 3 appetizers.

Staple in my neighbor. Food is good. It's not fancy but it's consistent and reliable. Also, very well priced.

Really rude and food is not good. I would say if you have any other options for Chinese in NYC go elsewhere.

Dirty place. 肮脏的 Literally just saw the chef sneeze into a wok he was cooking with, wipe his nose with his open hand, and then grab a handful of something and threw it in the wok. No thank you! The woman who runs the register is cold and mean....I sort of got used to that...but I can deal with that, we live in NYC... but the wok sneeze is what really sent me packin'. The food is passable basic banal chinese food. OK quality. Look at their interior, and then look at the kitchen, and you be the judge. I used to order from them because of the sneeze and proximity to my work place.. but the sneeze directly into a wok, wiping the nose and then the no hand washing.... really made me finally do an about face and walk out. I like to support small business, but wish they would support their customers with a clean and sanitary food service environment.

Ok. This place has solid food if you go in person to pick up. If you opt for deliver or Uber eats, Grubhub or even Postmates you will be sadly disappointed. The husband and I have been in town for work. Super long days. So we've ordered 2 times. My main squeeze told me to find someplace else but nah...I thought I knew better. Perhaps I should learn to listen to the higher power? Delivery order number 1. They don't send the requested sauces. Like no soy, no duck and no hot sauce. WTF? Also order 2 coke and 2 sprite. They don't send sprite. They send Diet Coke. Not a fan. I call and ask for my missing sauces and sprite. Gal on the phone says "wait till next time and I fix" I said thanks, but nah. I am thirsty and would like my sprite and sauce. Mind you they are not far from my rental. But I paid a tip and delivery. Anyway after calling 3 times and being told the driver had gone home for the day (6 PM on a Friday). Sure ok. They finally send me my stuff. I was persistent. Last night we order via Postmates. Pay extra as I didn't see they aren't a direct partner so you pay a service fee. No biggie. We order a few items and ask for sauce on each under the special request area. Also add a custom order of sauces and pay $1. Asked for soy, duck and hot sauce. They don't send any at all!!! What?! On to the soup. Didn't send soup. They sent some plate of noodles. Wtf?! Needless to say. Maybe give it a shot and go in person. We won't be back. Service sucks. Thank God NYC has good Chinese food ok nearly every corner. Nice way to lose a customer, China King.

No ambiance at all. It is though, the classic old school Chinese take out place. Food in generally perfect. Excellent egg drop and wonton soup. Amazing beef with broccoli.

As the old proverb says: give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, give a man China King and he'll eat for a lifetime. In other words, HOLY HELL portion sizes!! As far as bang for your buck goes, this place is the (China) King. I order pretty regularly from work, especially when I want leftovers to take home and eat the next day. I've gotten a variety of dishes, but most frequently I get the General Tso's chicken, beef & broccoli, and the lo mein. The soups are fine too (the dumpling soup is a little too salty for me, but that's cheap Chinese food for ya). The lo mein is always a massive portion (along with everything else, but for $9 you can EASILY squeeze like 3 meals out of that baby). I always get some fortune cookies too, which slightly frustratingly aren't included with an order. Pretty sure they changed their supplier because now they're just your basic, paint-with-a-wide-brush fortune cookies. I used to get the most bizarrely specific ones and they always cracked me up. The food's fine - it's not exactly fine dining, but it's also better than most other cheap as hell Chinese delivery places I've ordered from. The packaging is sturdy, the delivery drivers are always on time, etc. My order has never been wrong, either, which is not something I can say about most places at least on my office's Seamless care. TL;DR: China King is the meal that keeps on giving. Super cheap, decent Chinese food with reliable delivery.

I ordered on Ubereats and the order was never prepared or delivered. I called the store number and it was someone's cell phone going straight to voicemail. They lied and marked the ordered delivered at 6am (I ordered at 2), nothing was ever delivered. This place is a scam do not order.

Ordered via uber eats and the food was never delivered. The number for the business is not set-up so there is no way of a communicating a complaint. Extremely disappointed. Edit: The food did arrive later than expected. It was decent.

Pretty tasty and cheap Chinese food! I've only had lunch specials here so far but it's a pretty amazing deal. For $10 including tax there are a ton of options you can get. Lunch is served 11:00-4pm (I've only tried on weekdays, not sure about weekends) and comes with your choice of rice and soup. It's always enough food for two lunches for me. The sesame chicken was nice and crispy, jumbo shrimp with broccoli was well sauced and had a good amount of shrimp for $10! I don't have photos yet but will take some next time I order (there will be a next time very soon) and post. There is a $15 minimum for credit cards FYI.

The food is okay, but don't use your credit card here. I just got charged for someone-else's food, because they had my card # on file. I hadn't ordered from there for 3 weeks. Scam Artists! (Or, really stupid).

It's not a great triumph when the vegetables are the best part of kung pao shrimp. Unfortunately the spice level was minimal. As with the previous visit, the peppers, celery and baby corn are fresher and crunchier than usual.

This is my new neighborhood Chinese go-to spot for any of the classic, fast casual Chinese dishes you might be craving. I had the General Tso's lunch special with fried rice and egg drop soup and everything was BANGING. Portion size is huge as well, easily enough for two meals. My general theory with restaurants is the more grungy the spot is and the less English is spoken, the more fire the food will come out and this spot is a great example of that. However, they "accidentally" gave me too little change back (cash only) and "accidentally" forgot to give me the soup that came with the lunch special so be prepared to sense check your order/change and don't let yourself get cheated out on those. Because of this overall sketchiness I dropped a whole star rating. Otherwise China King is King.

Basic to keep it simple. I wasn't overly impressed. Was in the neighborhood for about a month and needed a change in the "same ole" cuisine. So I decided it was time for some Chinese food and stumbled across this location. The restaurant is your basic Chinese take-out spot, slightly grungy and tight. However, that isn't necessarily a sign of bad food in fact in most cases it is usually the exact opposite. I waited some time to order (not sure why), was never really acknowledged and the gentleman wasn't exactly friendly or impressionable when he finally said: "what you want"? I ordered a large shrimp & broccoli with fried rice to be shared and portion size was standard. The food was decent, no complaints there but it wasn't overly memorable either. All in all, I was hungry so I ate & a need was met and that was that. No complaints, No complements and No pics.

Chef does NOT wear a mask. When asked why, was told it's too hot. If it's too hot to wear a mask while cooking food for customers during a viral pandemic, then maybe it's too hot for the restaurant to be open!

The food here is adequate--some dishes are better than 2 stars--but the biggest problem is that their sliced chicken is so tough I end up spitting 90% of it out because it's too tough to chew. They need to do something about this before I can give them a better rating. It must be poor quality chicken because I don't have this problem at other Chinese restaurants.

I ordered the "house special" lo mein. No beef, hardly any pork, three tiny shrimp and a few slices of chicken. I complained and They did nothing. How do you say "rip off' in Chinese?

HUGE portions and super quick service!! Food: the egg roll was so oily (actually a pool of oil at the bottom of the bag), the sesame chicken pieces were mostly fried bits, could have been more meat-y. But the flavors are pretty good overall

I ate here for the first time today, and I was stunned over how bad the food is at "China King!" I'm also stunned that this place is still in business and has been in business for many years. Their egg rolls are the worst I've ever had in my life. It would be nice to have a good or great chinese take out place in the neighborhood, but I guess that's asking for too much in NYC in the year 2022.

Please pay attention when you order over the phone w them. The lady that answers will have you paying $20 for a $11 meal and get mad when you point it out.

No frills Chinese takeout. Generous portions. Well-priced. I've only gotten takeaway from here once and they got about 2/5th's of my order flat out wrong. That being said, we definitely finished every dish (and had leftovers for days.) As long as you know what you're signing up for (and double-check your order), you should be set. I won't be coming here every day, but if I'm visiting a friend in the neighborhood and we want a lazy night in with Chinese takeout, we'll be giving China King a buzz.

My go-to spot when I'm craving Chinese food! The prices are reasonable, the portions are huge, and the food is delicious (if you order the right thing)! It seems that this place is a hit or a miss or the customer service isn't good, but I've never had a bad experience with them. The things that I've tried here that was good are the General Tso, Sesame Chicken, Egg Drop soup, and Roast Pork Lo Mein. I've also tried the Young Chow Fried Rice, but I wouldn't recommend this one because it lacked in flavor. Honestly, they probably have dishes where they aren't good at making, so just choose the right ones through trial and error...or through these reviews :)

This place is probably the last great Chinese restaurant in the Gramercy Park neighborhood. It is conviently located and has a great selection of Chinnese dishs, great proportions and are quick to prepare the food, definitely utilize calling in and picking up in person, can't speak for delivery since I've never done that but it is worth it for the food! Definitely get the spring rolls and any of the soup dumpling dishes, very tasty!

This place is amazing. It's clearly a takeout spot, but I've dined here twice. The first time was with a group of ~12 ppl and we took over the entire place (there's not more than 12 seats!!) We put a bunch of tables together after going to a bar nearby. We ordered many soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, crab Rangoons, egg rolls, lo mein and a bunch of different chicken dishes. It was SO good. Came back here a second time (way less inebriated) and was pleasantly surprised how amazing it was again. China king does not disappoint!! Holds a very special spot in my heart. P.S. there's no bathroom but you can (??) use the one in the bar next door.

I agree with the reviewer who said "no frills." I have no complaints, despite a questionable health grade displayed inside. As a bonus they have some vegan options!

I've ordered from this place a few times. The food isn't bad, truthfully nothing too special about it. However the service has been mostly a miss. I recently ordered a couple meals which was running late, when I called they insisted they delivered it to the lobby of my building (how would I know that?), when I went there there was no food and I called them back to be told that it was probably delivered to the wrong building. When they finally resent the new order, the delivery guy was rude. I'm kinda done with this place, won't be ordering from them again.

Our local delivery spot. Mostly Cantonese style but has some other regional options. Great food, exceptionally fast delivery, usual midtown prices. Overall a great spot for takeout or delivery. Not a dine in spot.

Awful! I ordered Tofu with broccoli. The tofu was precooked, days old and probably deep fried. It was chewy and barely edible.

Very sketch. I placed an order at 8:52 pm by accidentally clicking re-order on my GrubHub account when I meant to choose another option, I called htem at 8:58 and they said the driver was already on his way there. So essentially they cooked the food, packaged it, and had sent it out far enough to not call the driver back in............less than 6 minutes. Not exactly appetizing. Follow up: Just got a text saying: "Happy time! Your Grubhub order is being prepared and will be delivered between 9:40 PM and 9:50 PM. #happydance " It's till 9:03, another 5 minutes after they said the driver is currently on his/her way and the order absoultely cannot be cancelled. I dont' know what pre-prepared fridge they have their items stored in but yikes.

I ordered sweet and sour chicken around 8:30 pm Just like the other reviewers stated in his sweet and sour shrimp that it looks like a doughnut. Yes it does have too much coating with less meat. By 9pm i ate my food and everything was fine and ok. But then by 1am everything went crazy... I got a severe stomach ache. I had a diarhes i went to the bathroom 3 times and i became weak and feverish because i was dehydrated. I lost my electrolites. I got no powerade or gatorade.. I just drink hot green tea and lits of water to rehydrate.. I googled in too see wants wrong with me. And it says it stomach flu virus. The virus comes from a contaminated food, utensils and person.. I had my breakfast, lunch, and snacks and im fine from it because i made it. It only happened when i ordered the food that i got the stomach flu. IM NEVER BUYING ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE AGAIN.

Cash only fast delivery in the area. The special combos are where it's at. Under $10 You can skip the soups and egg rolls (not the best). The entrees are good and filling. I recommend the shrimp broccoli special combo.

Disappointed with the food. Was craving for Chinese food after a long day at work. Called for delivery. Ordered tofu with vegetables in garlic sauce, general tso chicken, and pepper steak. All came in large portions and accompanied with a box of white rice. Husband and I barely ate it. Food was bland, flavorless, and oily. The rest of the food sat in our fridge without wanting to be eaten and we had to throw it out. Felt like my $45 was wasted. Also, no complimentary fortune cookies booo. Quest for good Chinese take out resumes...

Ordered delivery from China King tonight and it was excellent! I've been looking for a great Chinese takeout place since I moved to the area a few months back and found this one on Yelp. Was surprised that there's so few reviews on their listing although over all they have a great rating! Hopefully more people find out about this place because it has truly been the best I've had in my area. The shrimp and lobster sauce was much better than expected. Also. I loved the steamed dumplings. The prices are very reasonable and I'm glad to have found my new take out place!

Usually empty or not many people. Cash only and not a very clean place. Food smell kind of nice and tastes fine but not authentic at all. Affordable prices and service is okay but not the best place to go. There are much better chinese food that are just across the street or a couple blocks away. Definitely don't recommend anyone to go

This place is great! One of the last "hole in the wall" Chinese take-out/delivery places. The food is always fresh and delicious! The delivery service is terrific...always quick... Best of all...they are on Seamless and Grub Hub.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it's this place! I walked in thinking it was those dive places that serves amazing food. Wrong! Seriously how do you screw up cold sesame noodles? They were awful. The Edamame was ok but all they had to do was heat it up and throw salt on it.

Our go-to Chinese restaurant for the Stuytown area. Consistently good; fast delivery and of course - delicious!

Used to order from this place all of the time. Went completely down hill. They Advertise on seemless 25-30 minutes food took over an hour and half and the restaurant kept lying to me every 20 minutes that the delivery guy will be at my apartment in 10. Food quality went down as well. Stay away.

Chinese food as it was meant to be. Fried, greasy, and fast.

This is your standard hole in the wall Chinese take out BUT... they go lighter on the oil and sodium but still maintain good flavor across the entire menu. That makes China King a rare find.

I LOVE china King! We've been eating at this location since it was ' taco king' . The food is always fresh . I now can't eat at other Chinese restaurants because it doesn't give me the same freshness as China King. We order here so much to the point where the staff Knows us when we call lol

DO NOT ORDER!!!!! This takeout was the worst! Their customer service is extremely rude and just terrible. I tried to make an order and they were not patient, had an attitude when I asked for prices, kept interrupting me to talk amongst themselves and cut off the line after they hastily told me that they would take at least thirty minutes to arrive. After I waited 30 minutes, I gave them an extra 10 min gap because NY traffic. However, I called to check and NO ONE would answer the line. I never got my food and will never be ordering from here again. Be warned.
