Chinatown Bakery - Review - London - The Infatuation

"If you’re wandering through Chinatown without swinging by Chinatown Bakery for a soft, sweet and oh-so-doughy char siu pork bun, then you need to switch that up immediately. There are plenty of things on offer here - from spring onion rolls to pandan rolls as light as clouds - but it’s the pork bun that always finds its way into our hands. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

🥐🎉 **Chinatown Bakery: Bun-believable Delights!** 🎉🥐 If you find yourself wandering through the vibrant streets of London’s Chinatown, do yourself a favor and make a beeline for Chinatown Bakery. This little gem is a carb-lover’s dream, where sweet and savory buns beckon from the windows like fluffy clouds of deliciousness. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked bread. The selection is vast, with most treats priced at a friendly £3-4. But let’s cut to the chase: the must-try here is the soft, puffy sweet bread. Imagine biting into a pillow of sweetness that practically melts in your mouth – it’s like a warm hug from a bun. Don’t overlook the savory options either. Whether you’re craving something meaty or cheesy, there’s a bun with your name on it. And for those with a sweet tooth, the small cakes are the perfect pick-me-up, adding a touch of elegance to your bakery haul. In summary, Chinatown Bakery is a delightful mix of flavors and textures, all wrapped up in a cozy, bustling atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s a stop that promises to satisfy and surprise. Just don’t blame us if you leave with a bag full of buns – resistance is futile! 🥯🍰🌟

Amazing bakery if you like asian pastries and buns. The red bean knot and the snow balls were amazing. A nice snack is also the custard filled Tayaki. Don't let the crowds and long lines scare you, the service is very quick

A busy bakery, people maintain a queue and grab what they want on the way to billing counter. I love the mini creme taiyaki (custard filled waffle in shape of a fish) 4 pieces for £2.5, readily made in live counter and served super hot

Amazing service and the highlight of China town bakery for me was the little custard fish (taiyaki). 4 for £2.50 which I think is a good price. They were really tasty and soft. Highly recommend

I recently tried this fish cake with custard and it was okay. The cake was nicely hot, which added a comforting touch to the experience. The custard was decent but didn't particularly stand out. The staff were courteous, though nothing exceptional. Overall, the dessert was fine for the price, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. If you're looking for a quick and affordable treat, it might be worth a try

Excellent pandan cake with a lovely colour. Light flavour that comes through delightfully with what I think is a light cream filling through the middle. Would highly recommend and one portion is big enough to share between two. The custard bun was also great, but very filling. My advice would be to order one at the time in case you can’t finish it all haha :)
