Chinatown Noodle Restaurant

I’ve been a regular for over 10 years. My recent visit was good but probably not as good as previous visits. I ordered the cumin lamb which was very tasty. I recommend! The eggplant was a bit oily and not as crunchy as previous versions. The dumplings needed a bit more time for a crunchy bottom. The noodles were great in texture but had lots of random and uneven cut pieces of vegetables like huge onions but tiny bits of tomato. The decore hasn’t changed at all but I like it. There’s free tea which is nice.

Not cheap ~ I believe it’s due to the location. Only good for a quick meal! If you like the thick hand pulled noodles, which is their specialty! That also serves many rice dishes too!

Wow!! BEST dumplings & noodles I’ve ever had! This place is very unassuming & super fast. I was there for a work lunch & absolutely cannot wait to go back 👌🏼

Very much here just for the xinjiang lamb noodles. Service and atmosphere is not much, no frills. The noodles is bomb. My fave, this chain from the famous haymarket place. Price has gone up - but noodles always delicious.

The noodles were delicious the tea was hot and the dumplings were filling!. Great for a late night meal.

Lots of veg options and the food was really tasty. The ambience is a little to be desired but they make up for it by the taste and freshness

Real HK Real Cantonese cuisine. Whenever I’m in Syd im sure to come here. It’s a small venue but worth the wait for a table !

I was excited to try this hole in the wall being that it was my first day visiting and had read some pretty good reviews about it. To my dismay, I was disappointed. I ordered the sweet chili chicken and it came out dry as I was expecting it to be cooked in a spicy, sweet and savory sauce when in actuality it was dry and salty with a hint of chili flakes. My friend ordered the pork fried rice and it did not look fried and he said it was mediocre, at best. At last, I felt it was expensive for what you get and the service was not very good. Not a first good impression!

We eat here every time we are in Sydney. Walkable from Darling Harbour. Great for take-out and just a few tables for dine-in. Homemade noodles, dumplings, all delish! Reasonable prices.

Chinatown noodle is a great casual spot in the area for some solid Chinese food! the pork noodles are a classic and very well made. the pan fried pork and chives or pork and cabbage dumplings were a crowd favorite. i would return for the dumplings for sure, but the noodles were a bit oily. the service was normal and they serve hot tea. this is a great spot to go for a filling meal, but they also have an expansive menu so good for picky eaters or large groups!

Nothing fancy inside and didn't every server water when asking had to order bottled water lol. But the food was dynamite Excellent. Eat in or take out. I would highly recommend this place.

Didn't know what to expect from this place when walking in. The food was amazing! The peanut chicken noodle dish was incredible. We also had soup dumplings and steamed pork buns which were also pretty fantastic. Definitely give this place a try.

Authentic as it gets! This small non descriptive restaurant is straight off the back streets of Hong Kong. Choose from pan fried or steamed buns and dumplings, plates of fresh Chinese noodles done in more ways than you thought possible, soups, seafood dishes like salt and pepper calamari or Chilli Fish fillets. Also a favourite is the Pork Pancake for only $11.80. I ordered the Pork and Chives pan fried dumplings and a plate of Chicken Noodles. The servings were huge- enough to share between two persons. Absolutely delicious Chinese cuisine at a very affordable price!

We had given up on our local northern Chinese restaurant because as much as we loved the double cooked pork belly our arteries were clagging up with the 22 litres of sump oil per serve. So what a way to sate our addiction to something northern by doing workday lunch at the creatively gonged Chinatown Noodle Restaurant. The handmade noodles came out on a plate as big as a flying saucer and the beef fried rice was similarly generous. Disgusting pigs that we are we wish we hadn't also ordered the fried lamb dumplings but we had. My partner thought they were far too spicy but for me they hit the spot. Oh, the tood. Yes, well, if you wanna do authentic Chinese you have to enforce anti service and here that started almost as soon as we crammed inside this barely bigger than a potential last hiding spot for a fallen dictator. Some dude was playing the fiddle while directing punters to sit down and eat. We were pressed up against the kitchen wall with the mad hammering of noodle creation on one side and a voiceless punter on the other side trying to sign for the chilli. That party had the world's biggest shallot pancake weighing down the table. When my partner dared to ask for the bill he was shouted down, wait up, will ya? We'll be back. Food that good is worth getting dissed for...

Mr Bossy ! No wonder this place is great - anyone gets out of line and the guy running it opens a can of arse whup on them, and that includes the customers. Guys next to my table got their doors blown off for trying to order something.... I couldn't understand the debate as it was in Chinese but I know who won. He certainly has the kitchen and wait staff under control, especially the kitchen. The dumplings are as good as the other place down in Chinatown. As Gertrude the Good says - "This is closer to the office" (youv'e gotta read between her lines but I'm sure that's what she meant.) Hey G t G, is he the bloke that plays the violin? My guess is its part of his anger management treatment. Fantastic dumplings.

This place seems authentic. The noodles were homemade and chewy, but the meat sauce for the dandan noodles wasn't what we were use to in the US. It wasn't quite saucy enough. They also didn't take away the empty dish from the table even though they were working their way around it to put another dish down. The boiled dumpling had thick skin but I enjoyed it. The soup dumpling is suppose to have thin skin and the ones at this place were not thin at all. Overall, service and communication was lacking.

I have been here a few times since I moved into the city and as previously stated - it is the sister restaurant to the little hole in the way over at the Burlington centre in Haymarket. This place is a little less dingy and a lot less busy (read still high turnover). You can get the same goodies without the queues !! The red wall displays pictures of the main dishes so for the uninitiated, you'll know what you're going to get ! Value for money can't doubted with a plate full of pan fried dumpings costing $9.80 , that's for a full dozen! The dumplings are handmade in front of you behind the kitchen window as are the handmade noodles. You can get the dumplings with various fillings but I normally go with the traditional pork & chives or pork & cabbage. I've tried both the pan fried and steamed and I have to say I prefer the pan fried as the little bit of oil flavour does wonders for the overall texture and taste. The light pan fried pork buns here aren't bad either. I normally go for the Beijing style combo noodles which are the bouncy homemade noodles topped with a saucy pork mince mix and some sliced cucumber. You mix the mince in and the saucey plate of noodles become a taste sensation. I actually call this dish - chinese spaghetti due to it's appearance! The wait sometimes is a little long but you know the food is being made fresh for you. Service is typical Chinese eatery - brisk and efficient but not high on smiles.

There are so many restaurants in the CBD area/Chinatown that use a combination of the words "Chinese/China/Chinatown" "Noodle" and "Restaurant" that it can get kinda confusing in much the same way that a Rubik's Cube can also get kinda confusing. But really who the hell cares because they're all cheap and delicious, in much the same way that an apple is also okay I'll stop and get to the review part now I swear. Seafood pancakes, noodle soup, hand-made noodles, and veritable seas of dumplings, so many big juicy types of dumpers your head will spin with delight. I tried something new and got the chicken and potato stew on rice. It was colossal, a feed-an-army type dish that I had to admit defeat halfway through and take home in a doggy bag like a loser. Lots of bones, which I didn't mind, it was like the entire chicken just got chopped up and cooked. Got a little fiddly but hey, when in China, right?

Great traditional Chinese hole in the wall. Everything is fresh and made in the moment. The place is small and the decor is nonexistent but the food compensates the lack of ambience. Try the steamed dumplings, they are one of the best on the CBD.

If you ignore the interior design, its a great place to eat and extremely affordable - truly a hole in the wall gem. Go for the Pan fried pork dumplings. Which for $9.80 you get about 12 which is a little more than enough to fill you up.

'Behold, I can play the violin! What superlative talents does the owner of THIS delicious dumpling house have?') No wonder the dumplings here taste so good. No more lining up at the Quay St restaurant for me!

As a Chinese, the food here is not a mystery to me. The food are all transitional northern Chinese style which people would have . It's a noodle house but most of my colleagues like the dumplings the most. Pan fried especially. It is hot crispy and juicy. Recommended dishes: Pan fried pork seafood dumplings Sweet&sour pork.

Everything about Chinese Noodle Restaurant is bizarre but it's an experience. It could be the ceiling adorned in fake plastic grape vines bulging with bunches of plastic grapes? Maybe it's the violin playing owner who does string renditions of popular songs to entertain the line of people out the front? Or maybe it's the restaurant's proximity to Chinese Noodle House, a neighbouring restaurant that's an almost a mirror image of it? Embrace the crazy and you will be rewarded with some of the best dumplings in the city. I have tried all of the types of dumplings they serve and they are all so tasty. Order at will, but don't go overboard, most are a serve of 12!

This joint used to be decent and authentic but standards have definitely fallen. Disorganised and lost in translation. First, they forgot our order. After almost an hour wait and asking 4 times in Chinese and English, the pork dumplings came out undercooked, which means not even safe to eat! The same thing happened to the next table, they left their signature pork dish untouched saying that it didn't taste the same as before. We complained but the owner was rude and unapologetic. The owner is arrogant enough to think that customers will keep coming despite crappy service and undercooked meat! Don't waste your time and money!

OK - I have to point out the flaws here: this is not somewhere you come to for the look; its crap decoration, there is none. This is no Sokyo or 'amazing' Mr Wongs. This is Chinese soupy dumplings, eggplant bbq, hand made noodles with pork and chicken. This is food you will love. So if its all about the ambience with you, this place has nothing for you. Besides the older Chinese gentleman playing violin to get people in from outside. And the mis-spelled menus. That's true ambience. These people don't care about that stuff, they care about the food, and it is glorious. Went here with seven others, and ended up being rolled out the door for $10 a person. Those of you who are actual foodies, come here. It's divine.

Uhh, I'm French so i dont know what China really is, but lets just say all i know now is that noodles suck. They are wet and sticky and i choked on one. I brought my Silly silly Great great uncle here and he like the misssooo soop i dont know how to spell it. Im french. He did'nt really like it, he spat it out at a chinessee waiter and the good bit was it was boiling hot and she got noodle in her hair. Overall terrible. Thanks!

What a pleasant surprise to find this is the sister restaurant of the Chinese Noodle Restaurant - and it's closer to the office! It's divey, don't expect table cloth service. They delivered giant containers of rice, oil, and soy sauce through the front door. I'd actually rather not know! The food itself is really good comfort chinese food - plenty of carbs and meat. I love the steamed dumplings and spring pancake rolls.

Had the best home made broad noodles I have ever eaten. Would recommend. Service??? Could be better if they served water after asking 3 times for a pregnant lady.

BEST RESTAURANT EVER!! The noodles are homemade, the dumplings the best we've had ANYWHERE, the braised eggplant to DIE for, the meat dishes sublime & generous portions. We come into cbd weekly for this gem. And the women who work there- lovely.
