A Hidden Gem of Agra! Chini Ka Rauza is one of the most underrated historical monuments in Agra. The Persian-style architecture, colorful glazed tile work (which gives it the name “Chini”), and peaceful surroundings make it a great place for those who love history and art. Unlike the crowded Taj Mahal, this place is calm and serene — perfect for photography and quiet exploration. I visited with my wife and we really enjoyed the calm atmosphere and intricate Mughal-era craftsmanship. The best time to visit is early morning or evening when the sunlight beautifully reflects on the tiles. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to see Agra beyond the Taj Mahal!

Along the river beyond Itimad ud Daula's tomb, lies another less grand one of another Mughal wazir. The blue and green tiles of the facade can be imagined from the few that remain but the real treasure lies on the inside, where the colours of the walls and ceiling are how they must have been when the mausoleum was first constructed. Lovely river views and a sweet garden. The ASI has been working to upgrade this morning monument.

Hidden gem of architecture in Agra on the bank of river Yamuna. The ceramic inlay makes this place special & it's a protected monument so those who wish to visit should get info about logistics and it's 100% worth visiting.

Chini ka Rauza contains the tomb of Afzal Khan Shirazi who was the wazir of Shah Jahan. It was built in 1630s. Afzal Khan also served as a Prime Minister under Shah Jahan. The walls have glazed tile work known as Chini. The work though wearing off due to climatic conditions still allows us a glimpse of how beautiful it must have been.Located on the banks of Yamuna the building is neglected and desperately needs some restoration. Unfortunately very few tourists visit it which is a pity. It is probably one of the few buildings, if not the only one with Persian architec government or a corporate restores this to its original beauty.Entry is free.

No entry fees. Open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Quite sad to see how a historically important monument is so poorly maintained. People, especially the locals use this more as a public playground or a park for recreational activities. The beautiful and intricate paintings on the walls are falling off. Currently undergoing renovations.

Its a beautiful mausoleum but in a very bad state. A.S.I should take proper care and maintain the tomb. It has beautiful intricate art work on the facade. This place is being damage by climatic conditions and more over by the locals living nearby. I was around there at 7 in the morning and still the main gate was closed so I couldn't go in but what we saw as a monument on the banks of River Yamuna was beautiful.
