Chinn's International

Chinn's International has quickly become one of my favorite spots to grab a great beer and some amazing food in the Modesto area. The owner, Patrick, does an awesome job keeping the beers on tap in rotation, so it’s always exciting to stop by and see what new options are available. They also have a solid selection of canned beers that you can enjoy there or take home for later. Just like the beer, the food menu is always evolving. Patrick regularly adds new specialty items, which keeps things fresh and interesting. The menu blends Asian and Latin influences in creative ways—dishes like the Birria Ramen and Birria Egg Rolls are must-tries. If you haven’t checked this place out yet, I definitely recommend it. The food and drinks are top-notch, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I genuinely love this place—it keeps me coming back and bringing friends along for a great time every time.

First timers, walk to the back left area! Neon sign will direct you where to order. Food was 10/10, got the bacon blue cheeseburger and garlic fries. Nice vibes for a date, bartop only in the main room, has a second room and outdoors where you could sit kids if needed. Will be back 😁🙏

The beer menu is really the only reason I still go there. The servers are friendly, but the food is overpriced and basic. I would give it a 5☆if they would improve the food quality and portions.

I've been coming here for a little while, and every time has been a delightful experience. The bartender starts picking up on the beers you have shown a liking to and starts recommending the often rotating stouts and porters they bring in. The food menu has some pretty tasty bites, too. So far, I tried the bratwurst and chow mein5 were very good paired with the beer on tap. They also have other concessions like spices, dry meats, and canned beer, which are some of the beers they have on tap, so if you like something, pick up a few for a trip.

The food was amazing the 3rd best burger I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of pristine burgers I strongly recommend this place!

Excellent selection of tap and canned beers onsite, highly enjoyed their stout. The food was great as well, and reasonably priced.

Wow the bratwurst and sourkraut were amazing. The Vegge Chow Mein was really good but spicy. They have some of the best beer selection on tap and in the fridge.

Excellent should I say perfect burger Yes I will. Juicy, fresh and tantalizing my tongue I came in treat myself after a great interview. I'm having a nice cool refreshing adult beverage, a cold beer and a burger. I will definitely tell others about this burger and the chill vibe here. I have been out of work so I haven't been coming by, watching my $$$ but I passed by before my interview so Chinn's was calling me. Great service, very attentive without being annoying. It's always been like that. They pay attention to you without interrupting conversations like other places seem to do.

I have a great new category. Places near EV charging stations. Yes, once again, I was charging my rental at the US Bank, a half a block away, and decided to stop in for lunch while the vehicle was topping off. It's a great place. Nothing fancy, but I like the atmosphere. They have a very large beer selection, although I do not partake. They also have a great food selection. Everything from burgers, to Chinese, to Mexican. You order at the bar, they give you a number, and then they bring your food to you at your table. I decided to go with the Chilaquiles's, and I was not disappointed. Everything was great. The beans were amazing, the chips were not greasy or soggy, and they were delicious. The eggs were perfectly over easy, and had a good amount of yolk to them. The crema, the cheese, the salsa, and the avocado, everything just went perfectly well together. It had a little bit of a spice to it, but for me, it wasn't too much. It was an absolutely amazing meal. Food, soda, tax, and tip the price was very reasonable. I will be back. Thank you.

We stopped here yesterday to enjoy some potstickers to tide us over until dinner. They have a menu that is truly international. They have great burgers and French fries and besides potstickers - they have a yakisoba (fried noodles) dish that looked really good too. That's American, Japanese, Chinese right there. The place was full all day with waves of St Patrick's Day celebrants. Additionally you can get gelato (Italian!) there too! And of course, you can get lots of great beers. The potstickers were hot and juicy with a spicy sauce that was made perfectly. The service was perfect! The waitress and owner came by to apologize for the delay (which was not that long, really). I had to tell them it was quite all right a couple of times. They kept our water glasses filled. The music was Mexican, in keeping with the international theme. In the next room there is a deli section where you can purchase international foods to take home including pints of gelato!! Yum! Patrick Chinn is the handsome owner who is half Irish and half Chinese. Surprise bonus! I had a near disaster in that I left my leather coat with my car keys at the table and didn't come back until after the place closed at 5. In desperation, I called the police, wrote the store and email, left a message on their phone - all to no avail. Then my host remembered that he had sold a Saluki Dog to someone that knew the owner! Ba da bing, ba da bang, next thing I know, the owner shows up, and gives me my coat and all important keys. I am going to stop here every time I go to the State Theater! I owe him forever!!!!! Actually I think I had the luck of the Irish that day!!!! Eat and drink here and get some of that luck for yourself!

Visited Chinn's for the first time this past week. Nice casual restaurant in downtown Modesto. I had the chow mein with shrimp and it was delicious. Not your fancy restaurant, but great environment to hang out with friends.

Very good! Chow mien w/shrimp was very tasty. We enjoyed sitting outside. My grand dude enjoyed his kids cheeseburger as well!

Really wanted to love this place since I had it in my Yelp bookmarks. Unfortunately the chicken chow mein was so salty, dumplings were ok. I think I had to be drunk to enjoy the food. My husband came home with a stomachache ruined his evening unfortunately. My margarita was good, but sadly the food was not. No need for I or us to come back.

Love this place , only writing this in hopes management sees this and changes something. Huevos Rancheros is a favorite on Sunday. Except today the meat wasn't like steak and more like ground beef and was CRAZY salty....that much sodium really affected me all day. I just liked it the way it was in the pics on Instagram, hopefully it goes back to that.

Food was good and the service was great. Ambiance was nice. My only regret was I came during work hours and they had several craft beers I wanted to try. Which is totally on me. Highly recommend

The staff here are excellent--friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The environment is clean, welcoming, and relaxing. It's the perfect spot to grab a coffee and unwind. Great vibes all around! The food is always on point everything I've tried here has been great quality.

The chilaquiles are the best - go on a Sunday and order them. They also have a general store that carries local, high quality products.

I've never had a bad meal here! Chow mien, pizza, and chicken mole are delicious! Fast friendly service, great selection of beers! Now have ice cream! It's delicious, highly recommend this place! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the beer

The garlic fries served here are fantastic! Ordered the sandwhich from here and split It with my husband. It was pretty big & delicious! Would come back here and recommend for others to visit if they are in the area looking for some good eats!

I came back and smashed my fuckin face into their smash burger again, and of course got the ever so tasty, Moscow mule (more than one) :-) Nice environment, friendly staff.

We love coming here. I live that the menu changes so if you follow them on social media you get to see what they have on the menu for the day. Staff are all very nice. I love that they carry liquor now since I don't drink beer. Although the ciders are pretty good. My husband loves the variety of beer. Definitely a great place for food and drinks.

This burger? Oh BAYBEEEEE IT IS THE BEST! And the service is lovely AND the music is the soundtrack of my life.

The menu is a very small selection. Ambience very nice. Food is amazing! Now for service waited over 35 monies for the food and never checked on for refills. Left 20% tip. You have to order before you sit down and with the wait and service we would have given a 5 to 10% because they finally brought the food. Again great food but need better service

Lowkey ambiance. Friendly staff. You pay for food at register first which makes it less complicated when dining with group that are paying for themselves. The Food comes out in a timely manner and hot. The food itself is DELICIOUS . The smash burger is juicy with great flavor and perfect tasting brioche bun. The veggie chowmein amazing w a kick to it. The GELATO was perfect if you love an icy texture the way I do. TEN OUT TEN.

Small downtown business w a lot to offer.. the beer selection looks to be on a revolving program.. food choices have an eclectic vibe w lots of flavors.. service was helpful and understanding.. a great bar area w very tasty liquids to enjoy.. definitely be back

Wow! This place so exceeded all expectations!! We stopped in on a whim and being just a little hungry, we ordered the smash burger and let me just say, it was easily one of the best burgers! Burgers are simple enough, right? But so many miss the mark. They're overcooked or too greasy or just ok. But the Smash Burger at Chinn's International is perfect! I don't like onions, but the caramelized onions in this burger made me a believer. The bun was toasted and it was perfectly grilled! Loved it! We had the Bee's Knees cocktail and vodka mule and fries and everything was top notch! I also need to note that the clientele here are exceptionally nice! Holding doors for people, recommending menu items and just nice people. Felt like a good vibes environment. We are total fans of this place!

The variety is great. In the mood for a burger? Got it! Salad? Got it! Italian sub? Got it! Chinese food?? Got that too! Food was fresh and came out fast. Service was very nice and the they also have some great beer options. Very cool spot.

I've been here before when they first opened and was satisfied with my experience and the food was about what I expected for a casual eatery. Today, I was craving a pub-like experience. I decided on Chins but was pretty disappointed with the beer selection. It's pretty much just lagers and IPAs, plus my beer barely had a head on it at all so I don't think they're serious about beer despite the vibe they give off. I also got a burger for 11 bucks which isn't bad nowadays. The service was decent and the ambiance was clean but overall, I wish I had gone to Commonwealth instead.

The best tap list in town, by a LARGE margin, paired with amazing bites that change daily. The staff is always super friendly and helpful if you have any questions. It's one of my favorite spots to eat or just hang out for a couple pints.

I stumbled upon this place by accident. Birthday plans didn't go as planned and I needed somewhere to cut my birthday cake. All of the staff were extremely nice and excepting of me and my party of 3. The owner laid out everything we needed for cake cutting and we all enjoyed my birthday and birthday cake together. I couldn't have asked God to bring me to a better place. Afterwords they pressured (lol no pressure) me into singing a song before we departed. It was a great time, great experience, great people, memorable and I will visit again. Thanks again.

Clay made the experience a great one. We were drawn to this place because of the smell. The wings were spicy, but clay bought us extra napkins etc to make sure we were good. Over all, my family and I love this place the price isn't too bad either.

My husband follows them on Instagram and he has been wanting to go for quite some time. We went on a Friday late about 8:15pm: Sat at the bar and we ordered a smash burger and shrimp cocktail. The food was AMAZING! He beer geeked over their great selection of beer and I was thankful for the few options of cider they had in the fridge. We will be back 100% on another date night.

Has a nice, simple atmosphere clean located downtown. it was nice to see Patrick starting a new business as well as seeing Mark behind the bar. Mark has a great personality and awesome customer service and knows beers. The service Matk provided was awesome. We ordered the brisket nachos and couple of beers. Wait...it may have been a tri-tip ‍either meat it was dam good nachos: they're served on fries. I'm a classic kind of person, who prefers the traditional chips with my nachos. Nevertheless, It didn't stop me from taking part in devouring this delicious dish. My partner enjoyed them, he likes nacho ingredients on tater tots. fries and/or chips, As for what was on tap? There is a good beer selection. I would like to have seen Moonraker's Amelia . What can I say? I'm in love with Amelia. They have beers to go in the coolers, as well as some amazing private/limited Stouts and blends behind the counter...only served on the premises. It's nice to see a new business developing, I look forward to see it grow. Which will happen with Patrick at the helm.

This place is great every time we go. The service is always quick and so friendly. The menu changes and we have never been disappointed. If you try the smash burger, be warned, other smash burgers will not compare.

OKTOBERFEST! Brats and beers are exceptional. But if that is not your thing, the dumpling and shrimp stir fry are on point! The smash burger is next level. And if you are lucky, the day that birria tacos are available, is the day you need to change your plans and enjoy a few beers at Chinn's.

Came here and had some food. The presentation was horrible and the owner came out and was acting very pompous. I do not recommend eating any of chins food.

A great place ran by wonderful people The menu may not be the same everyday but it's always good. Try to make it on a Saturday when they do pizza!

Horrible customer service. If you're looking to catch a sporting event on TV while drinking a beer this is NOT the place for you. Bartender (Mark) likes to play music loud and is rude to customers. I'd recommend Food Fix down the street for some good beer & food.
