This is a decent location. I've had good experiences for the most part. It really depends on who's there making your meal. Today's experience was a good one. Dude showed mad love and most importantly followed directions to a T when making my salad and burrito. As well as the kids meal and my order of tacos. As per usual the ingredients were fresh like on the commercials. So I'll def be returning and hopefully I'll get another good crew like I had today.

I order chipotle bowls through the app and go pick up. When I go home and open the bowl and I am so disappointed… it is like soup and the portion size is so small.. the chicken is less than five small pieces! It is better to order in the store, not through the app!

Very garbage place. They do not have veggies. When i asked why u dont have veggies they said it lot of work to wash and cut veggies. I mean we pay for it. Not good attitude of workers and no napkins and not hygiene. Pls don't go here.

I don't normally take the time to write negative comments, but the stomach ache definitely inspired me to say, this place has the same hygiene as an Indian street food joint. The counter top was full of debris from the previous stuff they were preparing. I literally saw one of them go into the kitchen touch and move a whole bunch of things around then comes make a burrito with the same gloves. This place needs people who care about the food they are saving. I should have walked out I know. Giving them the benefit of the doubt was my worse decision in 2025.

Horrible presentation, it looks like a soup, the woman at the cashier said that I ordered that and that's what they gave me, if I want a soup I don't ask for a bolw. It's rude and disrespectful to treat customers like that, a pretty big delay and at the end of the day a long wait for an online order, they ruin my lunch

I actually like the location. Very close to whole foods and a lot of other restaurants in metuchen. The indoor and outdoor seating is also good . Service was ok. We got chips and they were asking extra money for salsa . I thought salsa comes with it . We paid extra and got it . The veg bowl was good . Billing was quick but we went on a non peak hours . Overall an average experience ..

Also This is the dirtiest chipotle i have been to.. overflowing trash, dirty sticky tables all you can imagine. All of the reviews are true but i had to go as it was the closest one from my route. Never ever going back. They deserve ZERO STAR.

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've been to a Chipotle and was looking forward to it, since Metuchen shops and restaurants are usually very high quality. I ordered a chicken bowl with brown rice, black beans and guacamole. I got through half and tossed the rest. The chicken was gristly... I had to spit out several chunks which were pure fat. I felt awful for several hours after eating the portion I had. The guacamole was extremely salty...inedible. The rice was so undercooked it was soupy. The quality was horrible. Will not be returning to Chipotle.

I think the food here is quite good for a fast food restaurant. I prefer going to an independent Mexican restaurant, but sometimes I'm in a rush and hungry, and this is close to where I work, so I come here. The staff is friendly and super fast. They run that food assembly line like a well oiled machine. I like the flavors of the food at this Chipotle. Sometimes the textures are a little off, like, the rice is too hard or too soggy, but again, for a fast food place, this exceeds my expectations. There is a big free parking lot. The location is convenient, clean, and safe, and there's a pleasant outdoor seating area.

I love this chipotle. I started going here after Pilates because it was convenient. I have continued to drive here about 15 minutes (past my local store) because the service, food and atmosphere are significantly better. The staff is friendly, it's always clean and the food portions are consistent. I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but, I've always had a good experience here!

The CHIPOTLE on Lake Ave. may in fact be the worst business in our Metuchen area. Three times in a row our order has been butchered. Drove in the snow to pick up my $87 order. Got home, once again it was ice cold. Picked it up to the minute it said it would be ready and only took three minutes to get to my kitchen table. Not only was it bowl missing half its Ingredients but they gave it to me 1/3 of the way filled. A joke. Instead of sour cream and guacamole they gave me a nice vinagrette. My son's burritos were half the size they should be. Literally fit in their child size hands. We thought they were condiments wrapped up. One meal was done correctly out of 6. Right portion and right ingredients but again ICE COLD. Needed to be microwaved. Don't waste your time with the metuchen location. Go to Edison/Menlo. The employees are actually happy to see you & haven't messed up an order yet. Update: as I see chipotle has responded below.. we did try contacting customer service immediately upon picking up the order/before this post and was offered 2 free sodas which not only is that not acceptable I had it took 4 attempts to reach a rep to discuss it! I hope this chipotle closes eventually as any other business would serve the area better.

The music is so loud and obnoxious the staff can't even hear what you are ordering and then when they get it wrong, they snap back at the customer like it was their fault. We took our order to go and once we tasted the food, we needed a gallon of water to quench our thirst from the outrageous amount of salt in both the meat and the chips. We held out hope for this location but it's a no for us. Won't be returning.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION GUYS! Trust me when I say I don't even write reviews, this chipotle SUCKED so much I had to write this review. From customer service all the way to the food itself, omg this franchise owner should be shame of himself. -The rice is 100% chunky guaranteed, like they don't miss. It's disgusting. -Beans thick like paste -Got this Indian lady served me acts like she doesn't even wants to be there. Super sloppy job, I am not that guy complain about the portions, but the bowl literally came out to be merely over the brim with LETTUCE!

1/17/23 I ordered a cheese quesadilla which is almost impossible to mess up. I set the time for 4:50 pickup. I arrived at 4:51. This is the amount of guac I received - it's brown and warm. I was also given a cold, brick hard quesadilla. Do not waste your time or money here. Go to the Menlo Park Mall Chipotle.

Hate leaving bad reviews but f this place seriously. No management. Store is dead as hell yet tables are dirty. Cashier didn't give me salad dressing or soda. Salad greens were soggy and rotting. I got hot salsa on top. Love spicy anything. I can handle Thai and Indian at spiciest level and enjoy it. But whichever clown made this salsa just messing w people... my mouth is scorched. Like they know if they mess things up they don't have to work as hard. Never again. What a shame

ok, so my family loves chipotle and we are local so it is inevitable that we land here often. however, it is crucial for management/ownership to know how awful this location is. the employees are miserable and the restaurant is filthy. overflowing garbage, uncleaned tables, empty utensil bins, flat soft drink machines or non functioning altogether, and complete disinterest in customer service. burritos are wrapped to literally fall apart upon consumption. eye rolling of employees as though providing customers their choices and service is the grandest of inconvenience. someone needs to come in there and clean house, for real. no one cares here

My children are fans of chipotle kids meal. We have been regular customers. Things were smooth as long as we dined in-person or ordered at the counter to take out. But consistently inconsistent every single time when ordered online!! This place is deteriorating in their online delivery services. Not once.. not twice.. but almost everytime we get less food. Sometimes no food!! We had let it go everytime as we cannot make this an issue just at the dinner time. But they consistently fail to deliver the right food!!! one time the bean was missing.. one time the meat.. once less quantity of everything.. once no fruit or milk or juice that was requested!! this time.. main course comes as condiments that too half filled. When they designed a kids meal, was it not designed to make it a wholesome meal for the children!! For the full price we pay, this is what we received for our children!! You can do better than this, Chipotle!!!

This is literally THE WORST Chipotle. Seriously - Don't Go. When they screw up your order, you won't be able to call them because they Never pick up their phone and their voicemail box is full. This place has been Horrible since the day they opened. It's the slowest moving line out of Any Chipotle because the employees are so slow and pretend not to see you when you walk in. They're often out of ingredients, including lettuce. They often give you ridiculously small portion sizes (perhaps because they're running low on ingredients?). Sometimes they're just randomly closed. I keep giving them more chances, but this is the last straw. I'm done with this place. It's inexcusable. I wish they would close and open a Taco Bell here - we'd get better quality and service!

Finally leaving a review after lots of chances to turn it around. At least 4 times we ordered from here and the food was made wrong. Once we ordered food and they were so far behind there was an angry mob, literal angry mob, outside the locked doors waiting 30+ minutes for food after the agreed time. The workers were only unlocking the door to call names. They also are frequently not available in the app for orders and have often been closing early unannounced. I assume they don't want to pay employees fairly and are having staffing issues. This has been going on for months. Too bad since this location is great and very convenient for us.

This location has always been mediocre, but today's visit was terrible enough to write a review about. I went in around 8:15 PM today. After standing in line for about 5 minutes, I was informed that they were only taking cash orders, so I submitted an online order. The online order's estimated time was 8:20 PM - It was ready by 8:30 PM. After picking it up, I checked the bag and saw that the order was missing an order of guacamole and 2 bags of chips. Walked back into the store and waited about 3 minutes until I was able to get someone's attention (one was on the line, and one was refilling the line [this is who "helped" me]). When I got this individual's attention, I asked about the missing items and they stated, "We don't have chips right now." At this point, they start scratching their face and under their hat with the same bare hands that were stocking the food pans. I then asked if they could refund me at the store and was advised, "I don't know. I don't think so." Awesome, another super helpful response. I asked, "How do I go about doing it online?" "I guess the Help button." Obviously, this was going nowhere, so I left. When I got to open the food, the order was incorrect and missing half of the ingredients. So here we are, writing this review. I'm a long-time lover of Chipotle. I even worked there for a few years a while back. But this is, by far, the worst Chipotle I have ever been to. Chipotle, whoever worked today on the PM shift (8:15-8:30 PM) needs to have a serious review of the basics of customer interaction and health protocol. Do better.

I went in there for a steak burrito...menu says 10.60...ok so i got guac and queso should be 15 max...18$ for 1 burrito and than they try to tell me they don't have change for cash my total was 18.02 and tried giving me 1$ back I'm like no your prices are wrong first of all and second its not my fault you have no change so give me 2$. Also when it was my spot in line the guy just walked away mid order. Also bo black beans...no hard shell tacos so i had to get a 18$ burrito....WTF THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE BRO. Really pissed i should have just walked out and not paid but I'm not going to go down to their level. She also tells me her prices are wrong so thats false advertising. This chipotle is so bad it's not even funny. Theyre so slow. Most of the time they don't get the order right. It's never at the promised time. So I started coming 15-20 min after suggested time, still not enough, make me wait extra 20-30min. The only good thing about the place is their location. They make up their own store hours, it's not what the website says, there's usually a note on the window of late opening, or just not taking in store orders, or turned off computers, not accepting online orders, so you have to play their juggle game. I really hope the management can change and improve the service in the new year. Because the way this chipotle is run is a joke.

It's the worst restaurant establishment I've ever been to. No chips don't take cash out of rice and at 8:30 on a Saturday. It would also be great if chipotle could learn to roll a burrito, it isn't supposed to look like a ball, should be long so you can eat it. And on top of that it never matters how many people are in this chipotle you will always wait 15 to 20 minutes before you can place your order. All of this is a clear reflection of the ownership which is terrible! Never coming back here again, I would recommend going anywhere else.

I just picked up my food from this place. I get home and my all food is not in the bag. Try to call the store but they don't answer phones bc "they are busy making more burritos" as the automated message says when I try to call. They want me to go and find my email receipt and click something and type out what the issues are. So I'm doing it here instead. I don't work for chipotle so having to pay and come get it and then email them looking for it and waiting for a response while my kid is hungry right now is poor quality of food, service, and all around experience. They were running low on chicken scooping tiny amounts into bowls while I was there also lol.

It said that my order would be ready at 12:15 but when I got there, there was a sign at the door for a delayed opening for 1:15 pm! Please, if you were not planning to open on time, turn off your mobile ordering! Now I'm stuck having to contact customer service to get a refund!

This was easily the worst chipotle I have ever been to in my entire life. The employees were more focused on closing early than actually working the cash register. They were trying to put the chairs on the table but they didn't know how and they slammed multiple. Other costumers in line also expressed their annoyance with food shortages. They were out of white rice and chips. It took me 30 mins just to get through the line, I will NEVER return to this location.

I love Chipotle like many folks do. I have used their website to place and pay for pick up orders on numerous occasions at work for their location in Elizabeth and even this location in Metuchen. I have had to wait for my meal at the Metuchen location before when placing an online order and that understandable as the website tells you the pick up time is estimated. Tonight December 19th the wait was completely unacceptable. My pick up time was 8:30 and I arrived at about 8:35 to a packed restaurant. Mind you pandemic isn't over and they def had a good 30-35 people inside. People were frustrated and complaining to the workers. We were told by one employee that they had a fundraiser order for 300 people that they didn't know about and they were still working the 7:30 and 8pm orders. We were told to come back tomorrow to get our food/wait/or try to get a refund over the app or email them. Not sure why they couldn't issue a refund by pulling up the order...Many people waited and I decided to as well. At some point they abandoned the only que and decided to take everyone's name in the restaurant because they didn't know who had left and who still wanted their food. I gave my name and was told it would be made "now". This was at 9:15. At 9:40 I get my food. Come home and everything is cold. Worst part of it all was the employee that handed me my food didn't say "thanks for waiting" or "we apologize for the wait". This location is understaffed. And it isn't the first time I have made this observation. For a Saturday night 3-4 people working is unacceptable. Online orders should have been suspended if they had an order that overwhelmed the staff. Whomever the manager for this location is really needs to get a handle on things. He/She is setting the staff up for failure and for reviews such as this one with events like tonight. I came home feeling like I should have just went to Taco Bell. They would have been able to handle drive thru, in restaurant, and a catered event with better success. Chipotle is trading at what...$1400 a share and they have people waiting at a location for an hr cause they "didn't know" they had a fundraiser they had to make food for which would require 300 meals??? Really?! Hmm... I will NOT be going back to the Metuchen location ever again. I will go to the new Edison location next to Sam's Club. Very disappointing experience and I hope to hear from Chipotle directly. In addition to this Yelp review I also sent to msgs thru their customer experience service.

Love chipotle but this location needs to get it together. On a Saturday evening there were only three people working and it took over 45 minutes for me to just pick up an order I placed online in advance. They're unsanitary- using the same towels to clean the counters and cooktops. Staff wasn't friendly at all and were just dumping items in the bowls. They ran out of multiple options so it was down to the bare toppings. During Covid they should be extra careful with sanitizing but they clearly don't care here. This was a very unfortunate visit and I definitely won't be visiting this location again. @Chipotle - you need to hire better quality individuals and keep better track of your locations. Some of them are struggling and they will definitely continue to lose customers based on what I saw today.

Chipotle corporate management take note, this location is sinking fast. I have access to several Chipotle locations, but parking and access to this store is convenient. That's the only positive comment I can make. The food, when they prepare it properly is as good as any other store, but when you're at the counter, you have to pay close attention to make sure the make it correctly. That's a pretty sad. Online/mobile orders are a disaster. They NEVER get those correct. Other reviewers here can attest to this situation. I made the mistake of placing an online order last week. I ordered two burrito bowls and both were missing corn and veggies (clearly on the order). When I got home and discovered the error, I called the store to complain. The person who answered said they had been out of those sides. I asked why did the bother making the bowls if they couldn't complete them as ordered. She had no reply, other than to suggest I complain in the Chipotle site. The bowls they did present were pathetic. Under portioned, stale lettuce and entirely uninviting. I followed the person's advice and was sent a bogo coupon for my next visit. Hardly compensation for a ruined dinner. But I'll use the coupon, but it won't be at this store. Again, Chipotle corporate management please take note!!! This store should be successful. It's in a good location, but word of the terrible service is spreading and this store will not survive if drastic changed are not made quickly!!

You order food via the app, it will say it's ready at a time and I always show up 5-10 minutes after it says my food is done just to give people a little extra time although Whenever I arrive my food is NEVER done, I always have to wait an additional 5-10 minutes after I arrive for my food. This place needs either better management or overall better stay !

I've tried to give this place multiple chances but it's a little ridiculous at this point. I went in tonight and as I got on line, I was told I couldn't order in person and they were only taking orders on the website. So, I got in my car and ordered and waited until my time to go in. Upon arrival, I was told that they couldn't make any of my burritos or bowls I ordered because they had no chicken or steak. I was told they could replace it with tofu....... anyways, spend your money elsewhere.

Unbelievable! Walked in.. so many employees there chatting it up among themselves. Wasnt bust at all. Look to the left.. garbage were FULL. Go to the bathroom.. NO TOILET PAPER! Come out.. notice napkins.. two of the three are EMPTY! I mention this to the employees in a calm tone to notify them. What "reception/response" do I get? It's like they were staring at me like I had two heads!! Just said "ok"... and then silence. In such a posh town... this is poor representation of work ethic and response to concerns of customers! I'll continue to stick with the Hadley location. All these employees wanted to do was chill and chat among themselves. Ridiculous!

Ordered 5 dinners at 8pm Sunday night (store is open till 10pm) and when I arrived to pick up (app said 8:40pm) the store was a mess. This location is always understaffed, but the manager said to just get in line and tell the server what had been ordered. That took awhile, but finally got up to the line and ordered 5 dinners. Was told they were out of cheese (not sure how a Chipotle can run out of cheese), chips and fajita veggies. Of course, these were ordered (and paid for already). They were also running low on chicken, which made a chicken salad very skimpy. This isn't the first time that they have had problems, I once ordered a steak salad but they didn't have lettuce. Staffing is the problem here, and they probably should just close this location.

I have gotten food here at least 5 times and every single time they mess up my order. Significantly messed up. They put meat in my veggie bowl. I ordered two veggie bowls tonight. One came as a burrito - first mistake. Then each of them had some sort of meat. The burrito had chicken and the bowl had pork. This is not the first time they messed up. This happens every time. A whole new level of slow-food! It's a chaotic kitchen!! Ordered online and waited for almost an hour for it to be ready. The room is packed with frustrating people waiting to pick up their orders. Not surprisingly, several customers received wrong orders. The employees obviously lack of training and aren't able to handle the high volume. Don't come to this place without ordering at least one hour ahead of time. And remember to double check if your food is really what you ordered.

Across the street from Whole Foods-- entrance to lot is on Lake Ave. If you make a mistake or don't know that street, you can just park in the Whole Foods lot and walk across. It's a nice space and my burrito was ok. I don't like going to Chipotle anymore after I realized that some people get more meat than others, for example. And I am never on the beneficial side :( I saw a lot of funny business going on just during the 15 minutes I was there.

This is the bowl I received after placing an order for pick up at 7:30 and had to wait until 8. They are never on time with online order and the bowls are never filled but this is the worse

If I could add no starts or even negative I would these people have the most poor management I've ever seen and by far one of the most worst chipotle I've seen in the state they have no manners are slow and have zero customer service if they were to replace the staff with better people it would be worth it or even replace the restaurant with something better cause this chipotle is a disgrace

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Pre covid the burritos would be half the size that they would be at any other locations, now it's virtually impossible to get one at all. Earlier this week I waited until 8:30 for my order that was supposed to be ready at 7:40 only for them to tell me the only meat left was barbacoa. Save yourself the trouble this place is horrific.

Disgusting. The rice had no flavor. They were out of fajita vegetables. I was given about 1/8 cup of carnitas. The mild salsa had frozen tomatoes. And the employee dropped about 45 pounds of sour cream on my bowl. The burritos were completely unwrapped. And then my son pooped in the bathroom amd there was no toilet paper. Do. Not. Go. Here.

I came from whole foods and dropped by this location. It was my first time in this location and too sad it was a bad experience. Worst customer service ever, Employees are mean and rude and service was HORRIBLE. They need more training. To the employees: If you hate your job that's not my problem that's your choice. But at least give some respect to your customer. I will never come back in this location. Never again.
