What a scam. €13.50 for a green salad and some bread… It was supposed to come with eggs, but they were no longer available when I ordered. Not worth it, don’t bother going.

The restricted menu concept can be terrific. It's good here too, but it could be next level. At the next level, the dishes are just slightly more evolved; deeper stocks, interesting twists, and a rare ingredient here or there. I like this place and our meal was good. The service is really terrific, and the chefs are proud. Take a breath, guys, and tweak things up a notch... Have fun with it.

One of the most expensive and almost tasteless salads I tried. This place serves 3 dishes per day, and you need to book one of them in advance: IMO, that's not a sustainable model. I think you can go there for a great view or good atmosphere, but definitely not for a food.

Best lunch experience I have had in a long time. I do recommend checking the weekly changing menu on their website before you go. Selection is limited

Small design pearl in the heart of Mitte! The food is typical German food, portions are big! Great taste! The service is pretty friendly and very fast. They don’t have a lot of seats inside so if you don’t wanna wait, you can reserve. Credit cards are accepted.

I visited this amazing Kantine just for curiousity about architecture. And then, I found that actually this restaurant was lovely in and of itself! Chef was really gentle and professional. Staffs were treat me as the best as well :) Foods were also awesome and prices are reasonable! Plz visit and enjoy same dishes as DCA architects😎

Cantine located in an interior patio offering a tasteful vegetarian menu. All ingredients are fresh. You can book a table online .

Nice little surprise, the Kantine is in a hof. We had a table outside and enjoyed the quietness and calming atmosphere. Food taste fresh and good, prices are average for the location. We had the salad and soup. Dishes are around 9-14 euros I believe. I would come back for sure :)

Yelp
Just another day at the office... Office canteens are open to the public here. This sounds bizarre and maybe not desirable as going for lunch at my workplace is a risky business (or any kind of canteen for that matter), so it may not sound like the most attractive option for getting fed. That, however, is until you hit minimalist looker Kantine, which is part of David Chipperfield Architects' revamped office grounds in the heart of Mitte. Just go in, browse the food, ask what it is (English, german, whatever) order then sit. Their daily menu offers a choice of three eclectic mains as well as a selection of freshly baked goods. It's not particularly expensive but it's tasty, hearty fare, made with locally sourced quality ingredients. Fill up on complimentary bread and tap water if you're skint, otherwise don't deny yourself the delicious dessert tarts. Kantine combines the best of a work place canteen (namely great value, low-priced dishes) with the good food of a trusty local eatery and the sleek concrete interiors and pleasing aesthetics that you'd expect from a world class design studio. That's like getting all the perks of working there, without having to endure a soul-zapping architectural degree :-)

Yelp
Aesthetically stunning architected restaurant nestled in between offices and residences off Joachimstr. To call it a restaurant is bit of a stretch -- you enter Kantine and find a seat either upstairs or have a table reserved downstairs. Then, you place your order and are given a number. Your food comes almost immediately, which certainly caters to the eat and jet lunch crew. If you want anything extra -- utensils, water, etc. -- expect to get it yourself or be met with an exasperated sigh from the staff. The best part is that you have to bus your table in the end. The food (while pretty and good enough as you can see in my pictures) left much to be desired. Our risotto was quite undercooked and though the potato soup was light/delicate and warm enough on such a cold day, lacked depth. All in all, not too bad for 16 euros but I wouldn't necessarily crave Kantine food. I hear the architects come here for a fast and efficient meal, which I can't argue against.

Yelp
I've only been here once for lunch, but had one of the best (gigantic) salads I've ever had in Berlin here. There were roasted vegetables added that complimented the salad perfectly. The pumpkin soup I had before that was also very tasty. Very industrial/modern decor and an open kitchen, hidden away next to an architect's office. This is from the owners of Lokal, which I am very inclined to visit after my experience here. I should also mention that the prices were very fair, considering the outstanding quality of food and the Mitte location. One note: you order at the register when you walk in, so those who are looking for a long relaxed meal should probably opt for Lokal instead. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant nestled away from the road. Enter via the outer smoking area (cough cough) and enter the main restaurant, where every table looks worth sitting at. We were seated at the big long table, which is shared with other diners. The menu looked enticing, with fresh local incredients and interesting combinations: fish with blueberries...The prices were not cheap but we felt confident that our money would be well spent. How wrong we were: to our utter astonishment, the food that was presented to us was absolutely awful in every sense. My goats cheese starter was covered with limp, unseasoned salad leaves but the real downer was the main course: I went for aforementioned fish with beetroot and blueberries. I am sorry to say that it was revolting - the overcooked, flaky fish looked anything but fresh, and was covered in an oily layer which was anything but appetising. The beetroot was clearly pre-cooked and the blueberry-fish combination definitely didn't work. Surrounding the whole ensemble was a gloopy conjealed 'sauce'. My fellow diners were sorely disappointed with their beef, which had a suspiciously bitter tasting sauce. They asked the waitress what was in it, the plate was taken away and we never heard anything back. A great shame. I had been here for a private party and enjoyed simple plates of pasta - so why on earth were we served such disasters?
