Chiringuito Tulum (Tulum, Riviera Maya) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Tulum has no shortage of stylish lodgings, but Chiringuito Tulum has a distinct look from many others lining the beachfront. Instead of embracing the bohemian-chic aesthetic that’s so popular in the area, this boutique hotel is modern and Mediterranean-inspired. Airy suites have polished cement flooring and minimalist decor, some of it built-in, and wide furnished terraces, many with ocean views and private pools. In-room details like Nespresso machines and Bose sound systems invite hiding away with a good book, though the lagoon-like swimming pool and open-air eatery are just as appealing. Pathways thickly shaded by palm trees lead down to the hotel’s beach club and kitesurfing school, an adventurous alternative to the yoga studios and meditation decks offered at most hotels nearby." - Tablet Hotels

Wonderful hotel with chill and accepting vibes. Everyone works hard to keep things going smoothly. The food is great! Beach is beautiful, seating on the beach is comfortable and the rooms are exquisite. Very comfortable and spacious. Hotel recommendations are on point as the staff knows the area very well to point you in the direction you’re looking to go. Above and beyond.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in town for a wedding. The hotel architecture/design was cute and well-maintained. Our deluxe room was very spacious and well-lit (we may have got one of the larger ones in comparison to other friends staying here too). Complimentary breakfast everyday was a treat and included coffee, juice, fruit/yogurt/granola, bread with an amazing sweet potato jam & butter, and a choice of eggs. I’d seen some negative reviews in the past on breakfast, but my guess is they’ve improved on it since. No complaints there. ||Staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided whatever we needed quickly and even offered advice on nearby eats. They also helped hail down taxis for us. Given the relatively small number of rooms, they really recognized you around the place and remembered our names. It added a nice personal touch. It also never felt crowded, even the pool area which is not that large but still nice. ||It’s further down from most of the clubs, which made it nice and relatively quiet which we liked. Even then, it’s walkable to plenty good food and a short taxi ride/20 min walk away from more of the busier areas. The resort’s beach area was always lively and bustling during the day, but we were often out at other places so we didn’t hang around for it. Anyways, would recommend staying here!

Beautiful place with great beach access. Plenty of beds and chairs on the beach to lay out and enjoy the sun. The restaurant is covered but large sliding glass doors open it up to the breeze from the ocean. It’s a great place to sit and sip cocktails and have lunch with a great view of the beach. Service is top notch!

I can’t say enough nice things about this beautiful hotel! Everything was perfect from the minute we landed. Matthias at the desk made sure we were taken care of and helped us make dinner reservations and gave us directions when we wanted to visit cenotes. We received excellent massages on site, highly recommend. Gregorio and everyone else in the restaurant were incredibly lovely. Delicious breakfasts. Beautiful and peaceful piece of beach with plenty of comfortable loungers and umbrellas. Terrific location. There was a DJ at brunch one day who was so fun too! The vibes were perfect! Our room was so lovely and peaceful and we loved having the roof deck to retreat to. Can’t wait to return!

It is our 8th year staying at Chiringito Tulum and it is such a pleasure to see how it gets better and better every year. It is a truly home away from home - a boutique hotel in Tulum beach (south Tulum) that has an original unique character- true Tulum. If you want to experience a true Tulum authentic experience, there is no better place to stay than Chiringito Hotel. The beach club, the restaurant, the service, amenities - all top! And, the food at the restaurant is very good - my favourite were fish and beef tacos, guacamole, shrimp burger. We will be back next year!

Loved this hotel! My partner and I came here to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we arrived the reception staff was so friendly and helpful. They gave us many recommendations for food and activities in the Tulum area. Special shoutout to Fernando and Matias. We stayed in the deluxe room with king bed and private terrace. The room was spacious and clean. The AC was very comfortable. Our only minor complaint was that the terrace did not get any sunlight and the cushions on the couch were wet so we ultimately didn't use the space. Other than that, the room was excellent. Breakfast was included with our stay. Every morning we got coffee, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, bread, pastries, and eggs cooked to our preference. Our server Gregorio was outstanding. Only minor feedback - would love if the music stayed off until breakfast was over. Would prefer to listen to the waves and birds instead of loud music. Most days we spent on the beach which was very clean. The beach bar staff was great, thank you Patricio and Azul! Drinks and food were good. We loved the spicy passionfruit mezcalita and the shrimp tacos. One day we got a 50 minute couples massage for $150 USD which we enjoyed. The pool is small but refreshing. Most of the time we had it to ourselves. Overall, we had a fantastic experience here. We would definitely come back.

Beware. Before checking in, make sure all the amenities are functional and you have checked your room. As a seasoned traveler (been to Mexico 4x in the last 4 weeks), the management is terrible. We checked in and the pool was closed for 24hrs( there is only 1 pool) . Our bedroom needed engineers upon entry. The WiFi is spotty at best, and therefore we can't make any calls . There are no phones in the room to make a call for emergencies. I asked 2 hrs after checking in to see if we could leave the next day. The sales office never responded. I then followed up with the front desk and MOD the next day and they said now I was contractually obligated to pay for our stay for the rest of the time. We are not asking for free but just to be let out of our "contract" and not pay for days we aren't here. We are here for a wedding and won't be returning.

We come to Tulum at least once per year and chose Chiringuito for its proximity to a regular sold out hotel due to our last minute planning. The location is prime. Was greeted at the desk and showed to our room and given wonderful welcome drinks. After a long day of travel we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant, amazing dinner and service. Woke up the next morning and enjoyed our wonderful breakfast with Gregorio as our server, he was the best part of our stay. Great service everyday from him. Now the bad…the service on the beach seemed to be catered to bringing guests in off the street as opposed to serving the hotel guests. One morning after setting out beach towels out and going to breakfast, we returned to find the staff cleared out belongings and gave the spot to a non hotel guest, beyond frustrating. Not once, not twice, but three seperate times ordered food and beverages that simply were never brought out to us. Significant revenue and gratuity loss for them as well as reducing the quality of our experience. In Tulum you don’t flush paper products down the toilet. With that said generally the waste paper is picked up daily, not here. It was emptied once after night 3 along with the dirty welcome drink classes that sat there for days too. Overall we had a good time ….

Yelp
I loved everything about this hotel! The grounds were spectacular right on the ocean where you can relax on a lawn chair with full service, swim in the ocean, take a long stroll down the beach or just enjoy their beautiful infinity pool. The restaurant had excellent food overlooking the ocean. The rooms were beautifully designed with high ceilings and skylights in the bathrooms which gave the room a nice feel and you can enjoy the sounds of rain as the tropical storms come through at night. My most favorite part of this hotel was the staff. Not only was the service exceptional, everyone on the staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for the perfect boutique hotel in Tulum.

Yelp
We spent the day at the Chiringuito beach Hotel whilst staying up the road off Aldea Zama. If you're new to Tulum like we are, it's hard to decide which beach club/resort to spend the day at, as they all look equally as inviting. Long story short look no further. We took a short drive down the main stretch of road that runs parallel with the beach, on the resort side, we found parking for $10 for the day opposite the hotel, in literally the jungle... Chiringuito is a quaint little boutique hotel, pure rustic eco-chic energy, is the best way to describe it. Not busy at all, compared to the other resorts that are flooded with "Influencers". I'll keep this short and sweet. $60 (USD) per person for the day (minimum spend) goes towards all your food and drinks. The food was delicious, as were the cocktails. The music is tropical house/dance. It's very chill, if you're looking for a quiet spot off the beaten track to relax on the beach away from all the madness, "influencers" and "Shabby Chic" twats.

Yelp
By far our most enjoyable meal in Tulum. The outdoor table seating is romantic and the sound of the ocean is delightful. The service was fantastic, and the food and drinks were excellent. We especially enjoyed the eggplant starter, the colorojo cocktail and the hummus plate from the chef.

Yelp
Stayed here with my wife for our honeymoon for 10 days in June. Was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed with. Even though the weather was stormy a lot of the time, and the beaches were full of seaweed (only this time of year), we had the best time. The front desk was very helpful with booking scooters and ordering room service. The restaurant staff was incredible. They were the nicest and most entertaining people in Mexico! Our room had a perfect view of the ocean and our own private rooftop pool. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. From the staff to the views, to the amazing food and servers in the restaurant. It hit all our check marks!

Yelp
Super cute boutique hotel! We were walking on the strip and wanted a drink so we popped. The servers took care of us well. We opted to sit down on the beach, there were heaps of options. We had a snack and some drinks before enjoying one of the beds on the beach. This location is gorgeous!

Yelp
I stayed at Chiringuito Tulum for 10 days and it was an amazing experience. I came for my honeymoon and we really did our research to find a location that was safe, private, romantic, close enough to the fun of the town, good food and drinks, and beachfront - and Chiringuito truly delivered! Every day we would wander downstairs to the restaurant for complimentary breakfast and fresh coffee, we spent time on the beach, in the pool, in our own private rooftop pool, and back to the bar! The service here was truly outstanding - the staff made it a point to get to know us personally, helped us practice our Spanish, and really made us feel at home. Our room was incredible - the decor, the bed, very clean and spacious. The ocean views were beautiful and so peaceful. I will tell travelers - coming in June it can be stormy so plan ahead for rain, and there may be seaweed on the beaches. We didn't mind this because the pools were great to swim in. Also, if you're looking to adventure in downtown Tulum, to see cenotes or the Ruins, rent an electric scooter - way more fun and more affordable than the taxis!!

Yelp
Chiringuito is literally THE worst hotel I've ever stayed at. On our first night, around 3 a.m., the A.C. goes out and my wife and I both wake up feeling uncomfortably hot, only to notice that the power to the entire resort shut down. I went outside towards the front desk, but nobody was there, except a security guard. In an attempt to communicate with him, he just shrugged it off; he didn't even make the slightest of efforts to contact another employee about the situation!! Neither of us got any sleep the rest of that night. The following morning, our toilet wouldn't flush, so we had the plumber come and fix it. Soon after he left, we saw a dirty puddle at the base of the toilet. My wife had to go immediately, so we had no choice but to mop the disgusting mess up ourselves. If that wasn't enough, the power goes out AGAIN that same evening. It was eventually restored, but later on in the middle of the night, we wake up drenched in sweat... the outage had reset the A.C. and the unit was forcing out HOT air!!! We couldn't figure out how to turn on cold air using the remote, and since the front desk was absent, YET AGAIN, we had no choice but to just switch it off. Just when we thought we were done, we get a surprise visit by cockroaches, scurrying past our feet!!!! I managed to smash one with my slipper, but it was too late; we were so traumatized that we couldn't fall back asleep for the rest of the night. During check out, we wasted precious time filing a complaint with the hotel, calling Expedia multiple times, and staying on the phone for an hour to recount all of the incidents. Despite having demanded a refund, the hotel claims that "all the issues were taken care of immediately" and they "made sure that [we] had a great stay", and that they would not offer even a partial credit. Unbelievable. For $750 per night, this was a complete and utter disappointment to say the least. In my three decades of traveling the world, I've received hospitality at less than half that price that make this hotel seem like an absolute joke. Shame on you, Chiringuito, for not valuing your customers first.
