Chiringuito is literally THE worst hotel I've ever stayed at.
On our first night, around 3 a.m., the A.C. goes out and my wife and I both wake up feeling uncomfortably hot, only to notice that the power to the entire resort shut down. I went outside towards the front desk, but nobody was there, except a security guard. In an attempt to communicate with him, he just shrugged it off; he didn't even make the slightest of efforts to contact another employee about the situation!! Neither of us got any sleep the rest of that night.
The following morning, our toilet wouldn't flush, so we had the plumber come and fix it. Soon after he left, we saw a dirty puddle at the base of the toilet. My wife had to go immediately, so we had no choice but to mop the disgusting mess up ourselves.
If that wasn't enough, the power goes out AGAIN that same evening. It was eventually restored, but later on in the middle of the night, we wake up drenched in sweat... the outage had reset the A.C. and the unit was forcing out HOT air!!! We couldn't figure out how to turn on cold air using the remote, and since the front desk was absent, YET AGAIN, we had no choice but to just switch it off. Just when we thought we were done, we get a surprise visit by cockroaches, scurrying past our feet!!!! I managed to smash one with my slipper, but it was too late; we were so traumatized that we couldn't fall back asleep for the rest of the night.
During check out, we wasted precious time filing a complaint with the hotel, calling Expedia multiple times, and staying on the phone for an hour to recount all of the incidents. Despite having demanded a refund, the hotel claims that "all the issues were taken care of immediately" and they "made sure that [we] had a great stay", and that they would not offer even a partial credit. Unbelievable.
For $750 per night, this was a complete and utter disappointment to say the least. In my three decades of traveling the world, I've received hospitality at less than half that price that make this hotel seem like an absolute joke. Shame on you, Chiringuito, for not valuing your customers first.
