We just came for Mother's Day. Mom picked, otherwise this definitely wouldn't be a contender on my list.
First impression - Chipped plates. No joke, at least two of our tableware came with noticeable chips on them. My plate even had a smudge of some mysterious inky matter that won't come off when rubbed with a napkin. I don't recall getting any tea, but just as well since the cups were just as dubious.
Food - We got the seafood congee, there were decent pieces of actual seafood in it, but the consistency was a bit too congealed, probably left sitting too long and the rice has formed gluey lumps at the top. We also got a lobster, which is probably the saving grace of the entire meal. It was rather small, but nicely fried and crunchy, very flavourful. The egg and shrimp over rice, I don't know the proper name for this, was okay. We also got some seafood stir fry with some green gourd or some vegetable in it that tasted kinda raw. All in all, it was rather meh.
Service - is non existent. Our server lady was rather impatient (understandable due to the holiday), but also rather pushy. She kept recommending expensive combos and was rather hypocritically snide in telling mom that she should be allowed to make all the decisions since it was her day. Another server also grabbed the chair out from under mom while she was eating, without so much as a warning or a by your leave. Just grabbed and slid mom off with a "I need this."
Value - I don't know what people consider as the norm anymore to pay at a congee place, it's been a while. But let's just say we could have just as well gone to a buffet and paid the same price for 3 people.
Atmosphere - I do not recommend coming here to eat in, at least not on holidays. It was crowded and extremely loud, and very busy. The tables were squished in and it felt rather claustrophobic. The washrooms are clean enough, one private room each. There were stacks of dirty dishes in trollies along the back, and a growing line of peeved looking people getting takeout. Joke's on us as that was the smart thing to do this particular day.
